Childhood Love
Let's take it back to the days where things were less stressful,
You on the playground for hours with that girl that was special,
Knowing nothing about the time you were spending on the schedule,
You simply knew she was your friend and what you had was special
Your childhood where that one person meant the world to your day,
They were close to your heart and your parents were friends by the way,
That made the time even better but it was miserable when they're away,
We didn't know boyfriend or girlfriend we knew friend who would stay
That person you pushed on the swing laughed and told them your dreams,
Danced, did embarrassing things and took to get ice cream,
You had no idea what that meant nor what that person would mean,
Until you both grew up separated as you were teens,
I just want that childhood love back when I didn't know the meaning,
Instead of sitting up late nights hoping and dreaming,
I want the special friend that had me dancing and singing,
Cried by my side and felt my pain at the stars we were gleaming
Talking about nothing just anything that we can imagine,
Silly things like rainbows, teddy bears, or dragons,
What's on our minds sharing things and laughing,
My childhood love how I miss you with a passion.
I wrote this poem for anyone who knows this feeling. Growing up with someone you were practically inseparable from but as you grew you parted ways.
