Soulful Stars | Prologue
"Aw, Lelee dosed off again!" she heard Tamara say.
"Hey, Tammy! Don't disturb her. It hasn't been five minutes yet," reprimanded another lady that sounded like Coko.
"Sorry, girls. I had such a dream," she explained in a whisper. Batting her tired eyes at her co-members.
The girls looked at each other with worried looks.
"Let's talk about that one later. Tonight, we're gonna watch Jagged Edge's performance!"
She almost forgot about that one. When they're about to leave, Jihyo... now Lelee made sure that she had brought her handmade banner with her. She has something to say to one of the members of the boy band. They finally arrived at the studio within ten minutes. The girls went to their designated seats.
"Why are we here again?" asked Coko.
"I told you, Coko, we'll perform our new song on stage! After these boys," answered Tamara, while sourly looking at the boy group who just set foot on the stage.
"As if we'll ever perform..." Lelee facepalmed, and she shook her head.
"What are you talking about?" Tamara held her shoulder. "We're not gonna break up, okay? I'll handle everything," she assured in Filipino.
Lelee was scared, of course. If this music show won't bring their name to the public, and if they won't go viral on social media after they sing, they'll have no choice but to disband. These three girls should make it, or else they break it.
Lelee shook her head. "No, I'll handle everything," she repeated in Korean, holding Tamara by her shoulder the same way she did. Because she doesn't still understand the language ever since she landed in the Philippines.
"I don't understand, Lelee, but I get you. Fighting!" encouraged Tamara.
When they saw the stage again, Jagged Edge was now performing. Lelee's eyes were pinned to Kyle, the half-brother she never knew she had. Her hands that hold the banners were already sweating. Unsure whether or not she'll raise it up for him to see.
She craves attention. But she avoids it at all costs. Her messy mind took her to where she is right now anyway. There's no tuning back.
What even is the point of having this dream when it won't make sense to Lelee? When she was a child, she dreams of being a celebrity on TV in 20 something years. And here she is now, living her childhood dream. Only her mother was all against that, as the old lady saw it as ridiculous.
Lelee finally raised her banners to her unsung brother. It was the perfect moment for her. She finally took advantage of the fact that this music show is on TV, for everybody to see.
Hello, Kyle Norman Angeles. I'm Lee Jihyo, your sister, one banner wrote. It made Kyle's head turn for a while... Kyle smiled at it before Lelee could change it to a different one, one that shocked everyone in the studio.
This one banner made Kyle freeze like a rock.
LEAVE JAGGED EDGE.
"Stop!" exclaimed Richard, their tallest member. "Stop the music!"
"Why does he want to stop the music?"
The audience's chatters erupted all over the studio. The two other girls looked at Lelee with shocked faces.
"Let me get this straight. You want Kyle to leave my group, young lady?" Richard asked, emphasizing the possesive term.
She was too stunned to answer that. Lelee can't even say the exact reason why she wanted her half-brother to leave his group.
"Give up already. No matter what you say, Kyle will always be a part of our family... he will forever be a Jagged Edge member," Richard announced in conviction, and with a smirk, he gathered the two remaining members on stage with him.
Lelee won't call this a day, of course. She won't stop. She will not give in to this guy... her biggest enemy.
