Weak
(Frisk's perspective)
Both monsters had started to stare at each other intensely. Embers were still surrounding the given area as Grilbey stood between the opposing forces. I was jerked by the arm suddenly with large paws. I yelped, wincing in pain as his claws embedded into my skin. Sans took a step forward, reaching his hand out in my direction, glaring at the dog monster.
"Don't mind me...I'm just gonna borrow my kid for a bit."
Just as he was there, he was in front of me, I jumped. The skeleton flashed a wide smile at me, holding out his hand for me to grab it. Gladly, I did so. We then reappeared on the other side of the bone barrier, Sans gripping onto my hand as he pushed me behind his towering figure.Or at least, towering figure compared to me. He looked me up and down then turned to face our old enemy. The flames in his iris grew with the following comment.
"I-I thought you couldn't use magic anymore!" the guard backed up. "The hell is this?! What are the two of you still doing here? If I'd of-"
"Save it."
I flinched at Sans' sudden outburst, low and unnatural. He turned towards me nurturingly and pressed his teeth against my forehead. It felt different than how it had when I was just five or six. It made my heart flutter and my mouth drop slightly. I flushed a pink color as he turned back and let go of my hand to step away. " S'okies Frisk, hang tight for me. Got it?" he whispered to me as our ands slid apart. I suddenly felt fear for the dog man.
After all of these years I thought I knew Sans. But now? I don't even know the basics to him. I never knew he could be so serious. Actually, that's a flat out lie...
Sans chuckled, now in the assaulters face, at least a foot shorter than him. He looked up and said in a bloodthirsty tone.
"What the hell were you doing with her, dog boy?"
'Dog boy' straightened his posture as best he could, puffing out his chest.
"What are YOU doing, 'Sans'? Everyone said that you were blind.." He brakes his cool for a second. "Y-you shouldn't be able to use magic anymore!"
Sans let out a low laugh, sending shivers down my spine. He's scary in this state...
"Yeah? Well your men didn't spear but only one of my eyes...ya know? And hey~ With everyone assuming I had lost all magic properties with it..."
He shrugged, waving his hand over what I'd imagine was his 'blind' eye. But a sick expression appeared on Dog's face. He looked like he'd seen a ghost. Grilbey and I couldn't see... The flame man stood behind me silently.
" I wasn't being hounded to join the Royal Guard anymore..."
THAT'S why Sans never used his magic? He didn't want to be in the Royal Guard? Everything was being pieced together. This whole time...For the past ten years Sans has been playing the 'crippled' card on everyone for his own benefits. Why would he suddenly throw that away? Soon, he spat out the answer, catching me off guard.
"But then I remembered that there's someone I have to keep my sockets on. Cause God knows how much she means to me. And possibly the fate of our world..."
The fate of..our world?...
With that, Sans swung his fist, setting off the sound of a crumbling jawbone. With a loud howl, Dog boy was cowering on the hardwood floor, spitting blood out of his mouth. Sans stood above him meaningly, clenching his fists, blood dripping from one of them. As his voice rose.
"IF YOU PULL THAT SHIT WITH FRISK AGAIN OUR NEXT CHAT WON'T BE AS ENJOYABLE."
I felt a warmth on my cheeks and... Flattery? Good grief what is wrong with me?
Grilbey jumped the counter and stopped our skeleton friends fist before it threw another punch. Grilbz shook his head, telling Sans that it wasn't worth it.
As I had tried to move over to them, I collapsed onto the floor, a burning in my hip and thigh. I bit down on my lip, grasping onto my side in agony. I held in an inhuman sound of despair. Sans shot around and ran towards me in a panicked motion.
"Get out."
I heard Grilbey order, a few seconds latter whimpering could be heard outside the bar. Sans dismissed the bones coming from the floorboards and lifted me up into his lap. I screamed as sharp pains shot up my body. I shut my eyes, annoyed at how weak I was, how I could have been hurt worse if my precious friend wasn't in the other room to hear my muffled calls for help.
A cold hand lifted my shirt slightly and pulled part of my shorts down. I immediately slapped the shit out of Sans, my hands flaming again as Grilbey laughed from beside us. I looked at him coldly. A slight mark was left there as he reeled for a few seconds. I hugged myself tightly and said firmly.
"Piss.Off." my voice shook. Heart racing.
I was already feeling dirty, humiliated. I didn't want to feel because of Sans being a stupid tease as always. He took my hands and squeezed them, drawing my attention back to him. My heart sank.
"Easy there Baby, just gonna fix it up for ya." I groan in defeat, letting him place a hand on my bared side.
Wait..Is that really my new pet name? I grunted in aggravation, staring away from them. Grilbey could notice my irritation.
"Something the matter, Frisk?"
"Yeah! I could have done something but then Bonehead over here decided to step in!" we all went quiet, shocked at what I had just said. I stuttered, trying to justify."I-i mean... You all saw me! I almost destroyed the pace..If I'd of just focused my magic on one thing, I could have gotten rid of that guy in no time at all." shame rised within me.
"But..I'm too damn pacifist. I just..I didn't want to hurt anyone..." Hot tears rolled down my face no matter how hard I had been trying to suck them in. I let out a quiet sob.
"T-that's why I was so upset this morning.. I hurt my big brother because I was being so careless! I hurt him!" I trembled letting out another sob.
Sans gently moved my bangs out of my eyes, concern written in his expression. I hated it when he gave me that look, so I sobbed more.
"I know that I can do more! I-I've seen it!" My friends exchanged glances.
"I'm...Not weak...!" I uttered, ironically feeling the weakest I've ever been.
(Sans perspective)
I held Frisk in place while she cried, looking helpless. (Though every fragment of my being said otherwise.)
Seeing someone as strong as her just fall apart like this broke my heart. No matter how much I wanted to embrace her, I shook it off and kept my eyes on her hip, continuing to heal it back to normal. The now small claw holes were closing up, no longer bleeding out. I eyed Grilbz, a smirk on his face as he watched. I snorted and looked away in between Frisk's sobs.
"Why're you so smug all of a sudden?" I ask regrettingly.
He seems to snap out of a trance at this. "Oh! I was just thinking about how selfish your reasons for hiding the fact that you could see were."
By ''see' he meant not being blind in both my iris'. I could feel Babybones tense up in agreement as she snuggled up to my coat, soaking it. To my surprise, she wasn't burning it. Maybe tonight has given a bit of a stronger hold on her magic. They seem to leak out in the act of her emotions, so we'll have to work on containing that undying spark of hers. But then again...Should I really teach her to smother it? Or maybe, to flame it into a firecracker?
I pulled myself back to reality to answer Grilbey's gaze.
"As I told the mut back there, no one messes with Baby. Periode."
"You...you did it again."
I looked down at my good friend, she was still teary eyed.
"What'd I do?"
She sat up, still in my lap and stared me dead in the sockets sternly. I gulped.
"You called me Baby again." her face had a tint of red on it as her slit pupils went back to their normal shape. "And earlier, you said I was your kid..."
"Well Sansy, you sure do have some explaining to do, don't you my boy?" Grilbey laughed, helping Frisk to her feet. A warm sensation overwhelmed my face as she stared back in my direction.
Well shit.
((Sorry for this chapter. I honestly feel like I could do better, but something came up today, so I had a limited time to work on it. I'll make up for it next chapter though! I will do my best! I know this chapter was probably really cringey.
