Blackberries( Sans' perspective)

((Heya! This is Ekoing , feel free to play the vid above at any given time~! ;D

OH! Btw, this may be edited a lot, i'm still new to this sorta thing. I will be leaving a description of this AU asap so you all aren't confused. Though, I feel that what I have already written explains itself enough. I must warn you, I am including a "slight" Frans shipping in this. I haven't decided if I will add any lemons due to the fact that it's too early for me to think of 'em. Also... I am not exactly good at writing sin...*^* SO YEAH. This story doesn't just jump straight into Sans and Frisk's relationship. I started it off with A LONG first chapter, explaining some backstories and describing most of the characters. Hope ya'll don't mind...Enjoy!))

Someone once told me that anyone can be a good person. Some just have to try harder than most. But then there's me. And uh... let's just say that at this rate... I can't tell if even hell will let me in. I did something stupid. Something so dumb and irritable that I may never be forgiven. But ya know? That's fine by me. Cuz I don't expect any less. Even now. If I hadn't done the stuff like this, things right now probably would never have happened. Which is why I wouldn't risk fixing my screw ups, not for anything in the world. Because this- is probably the happiest I have ever been in my entire lifetime.

I should probably start from the beginning though, shouldn't ? Welp, I normally don't talk much about this but I guess it's inevitable now. God, this'll really take me back.

It was... I'd say about 10 years ago, 200x, when babybones had first fell. I have no idea how, or why the kid had fallen down here in the first place, but she said that she somehow managed to be walking one minute then falling the next. Which, makes no sense. I mean seriously, how could she miss a big ass hunken hole in the ground? You'd have to be dumber than a rock to miss that thing. Though I must say... I think there's a different reason for babybones bein' down here, but that ain't any of my business. But I can't help that I have a feeling I know... No. Back to the main topic. Ok Sans.. What was it again? Oh right. The kid fell around ten years ago. She wasn't even in school yet. Just about six years old. Cute lil' kid if I'm honest. Large azure eyes, short cut, wavy brown hair and best of all, chubby cheeks. She hated it when I pinched them, especially since my hands are so much bigger that her face, but giggled and laughed afterwards, playing with my face as payback. So cute. Geez, rip my heart out why don't cha'?

Well, I was making my way around the underground after a long day in the lab with Alphys. It was dark and cold, as always, and I was getting sick of exploring the same god damned area every day. I didn't exactly wanna go home though...Not yet. I needed more time to think about tomorrow's plans. So I went someplace new. Well, not new. Hell I'd explored the entire underground before then. But anyway, I eventually made my way to the ruins entrance. There, I ran into none other than the his and her majesty's two heirs.

"Well if it ain't the two brats themselves! Heya Asriel, Chara." I waved to them, continueing to step forward.

"Howdy, Uncle Sans!" Asriel chirped and gave me a hug. Almost taller than me and growing a short beard.

His highness ,Chara came around from the other side and tapped on my shoulder, grinning as normal.

"Well well well, what do we have here~? Hey there, comedian."

"Heeeeyyyy Chara, how's it hangin?" we laughed and shook hands. Chara's nearly and adult now, 17 and also, almost taller than me. Damn.

"So what kind of business do you have in the ruins, Uncle Sans? We thought you usually walk around in waterfall after work. "

"Yeah skeleton, what gives?" Chara folded his arms and cocked his head while Asriel stood proudly, wearing his cloak around him as Asgore does. Both had grown so much from when we first met all those years ago. But hell, at the same time they haven't grown up much at all.

We cut up for a while, and went our separate ways. Smiling and suluting off.

"See you latter, Bonehead!" Chara bellowed.

"By Uncle Sans! Me and Chara will send Dad your regards!"

"Cya kiddos." With that, I stepped past the Ruin door, and merged in.

Right off the bat I found myself caught in one of my bro's puzzles. Greeeaat... I didn't even think he'd been to the Ruins, so I was pretty shocked.Had he....? Lucky for me, though, they were pretty easy. I never did ask why he was there, but I assumed Undyne probably had been training him there. After all, Pap had been working his ass off to get into the Royal Guard for a while, they must've been through every room in the underground by now. Learning to train in new terrain s'pose. Now that I think about it.. Maybe Asriel placed them there. He likes puzzles just as much as Bro does.

For a while I just stood in the shadows, thinking to myself. That is... Until I heard it. A loud, blood curdling scream come from the edge of the Ruins. Immediately I ran towards it, instinct taking over. At the time, I had no idea that I could teleport so running was my strong suit. But geez, running in that big ass jacket made me sweat. Alot. Finally I managed to reach a pillar, leaning against it to catch a breath. The sounds of crying and sniffles echoed through the light up cavern, scaring the living shit outta me. Again, outta instinct again, I summoned a few blasters and jumped out from behind the pillar. Ready to shoot at whatever moved.

"Who  is there? Show yourself!" I was ready for anything, willing to cause any damage necessary to whatever was there. Only a selected few out of we monsters can enter the ruins, luckily I was one of them. So the fact that an unfamiliar voice was being heard in there didn't exactly settle with me. I was expecting to find some kind of monster... What I found, really caught me off guard.

There, curled into a ball in the middle of a million golden flowers lied a small child. A human child. Shaking, it cried for help, sobbing from the fall. Dismissing the blasters, I took a step forward, the human raised it's head just enough to barely see above the petals surrounding them. Extending their hand, stretching their small fingers out towards the shadows. It began to say something but stopped in mid sentence to cough out their guts. After a bit, I found myself kneeling in front of the small child, taking their hand. They looked up, eyes widening. She couldn't have been any older than six, way too young to have survived such a fall.

The other six hadn't. Each one of em that fell had died as soon as they hit the ground. Which is kinda confusing cuz they were all at least ten or older. If anything, she should have at least have been close to death. But this kid must be a trooper, cuz she only broke her wrist and skinned her knees.

"Gimme your other hand kid."

She vigorously shook her head no. So I just took it by force, she screamed but I proceeded with my work anyways. Holding that tiny hand , I used green magic on it after snapping the bones back in place. Of course, she cried at that part, but was fine when I healed the rest back to 'almost' normal. Had to wrap her hand in a bandage but other than that she was fine. I was worn out though...

The human looked at her hand, astonished, then looked back at me, giving the biggest smile in the world.

"Thank you!"

"No problem there, kid."

She told me that she fell and had no clue where she was. Her speech kinda sucked to be honest, then again she was only five, which is what I had soon learned. Much too young to be stuck in the underground. I imagined her parents were worried sick about her. Reluctantly, I did end up taking her under my wing through the Underground. Avoiding every monster we'd come across wasn't going to be easy. I could have just led her to the king and queen, but unlike Chara, Babybones had people who needed her back home. Chara was eleven and was the one who wanted to be underground in the first place. For reasons that are best left unexplained... This kid however...Well, something made want Babybones to live a different life. One far away from here.

When we finally made it to the Barrier, we'd been caught more than once, and I was pretty sure that the Royal Guards were right on our tail. One time, they threw a spear at me, and before I could dodge it went straight through my eye, left me half blind, even now I can't see outta it. To cross the barrier we needed seven human souls. We had all seven, including Frisk's, but in order to get the kid across, she'd have to sacrifice her life...Not only would it free her, it'd free the entire underground. Of course, the kid was all for it.

"Let's do it, Mr.Skeleton.!" (That was what she used to call me by the way)

"Kid, if you use these souls, and yours at the same time to break the Barrier... You could die-" I tried to protest. But for a six year old, she was quite a pro for counter arguments.

"But I won't die! Promises~!" She'd hold out er pinky towards me.

"I will be otay! If we do it, eveweyone will be freed! How else will I be home?"

No matter how much I wanted to believe her, I just couldn't. And what ended up happening, was this; I gave MY soul to the kid, and told her to

"Walk through the wall right there, I'll be with while you do."

Well, the kid did as told, she absorbed my soul and just as the Royal Guardsmen started barging into the room we'd already made it across.

The surface was nice, and the sun was beautiful. The kid and I stayed in the same body for a few hours, until I could figure out how to unfuse our souls that is. I swear, being in a little girl's body/mind is fuckin' weird. I missed being able to see over tree stumps and shit like that. Really, I was so freakin' short that everything around seemed so much bigger and terrifying. More importantly, I missed my little brother. I'd been away from Papyrus for a good few weeks now... And knowing him, he'd probably be worried sick over me.

Once the kid and I had our bodies back, she started dragging me all over the place. Showing me different bugs, her favorite rest spots, and what seemed to be her favorite location; The river in the forest, just close enough to the hole leading into the Underground.

"Mr.Skeleton, look! See, see??! I tolds you there was bwackberrys here!" Again, her speech was terrible.

"Blackberry...?" At the time, I didn't know much about the surface. So I didn't even know about different fruits other than apples, oranges, grapes, and bananas. Most of those I hadn't even seen before.

"Yeah! Try it!" Before I was even able to take the ..blackberries... from her, she shoved a hand full in my mouth. She beamed and  urged me to chew them. Juice now dripping down my chin, I had no choice but to eat it. And it was really good to my surprise. Frisk obviously thought so too, had to practically pull her away from the river bank in order to get her to stop eating em. Guess you could say she was enjoying them berry much. Heh. Yeah... Too bad I had to ditch em the a few mornings latter.

After my heart being practically ripped outta my chest I made my way back into the unground. And god, did I get my ass kicked. The Royal Guards were pretty pissed at me. They dragged me to Asgore, and he was sore with me too. He kept asking "What were you thinking?!" and "Why did you not allow allow me to deal with such a matter?!" But I couldn't answer. Cause ,heh, I didn't even know. All I could say was "It was just a kid."

"That does not matter! Sans, as one of my colleagues, you of all monsters know that something like this can't be ignored, let alone taken lightly." He began to slowly pace the room.

"I am not upset that you freed the child... Honestly, I should have done the same with Chara... They too were far too young to be stuck down here at the time. Regardless, you should have at least informed me!"

"The kid was only five, Asgore! She had a family, unlike Chara, who came down here to die!"

"Enough!!!" he swung his hand across the table in front of him, miscellaneous objects crashing into the wall, smashing and breaking a vase. There was a stiff, thick moment of silence.

"It is not your place to speak of such things, Sans.... Forgive me for losing my temper..." he placed a hand on his forehead, moving hair out of his sweaty, enraged face.

"S'okies..." I refused to look at him, only at the wall.

"You are aware that I can not stand idly by in this situation... Correct?" I felt his eyes pierce themselves into me.

"Yeah. I get it, Fluffy Buns."

He sighs.

"Sans, this is serious!"

"Don't you think I know that?"

"By the way you are responding!...."

"Look, Asgore, I get it. What I did was really stupid. I don't even know why I did it. All I know is that I had to. You gotta believe me."

"Sans, you are one of my oldest, closest friends..." He placed a white, furry hand on my shoulder, weighing it down due its large mass.

"I do believe you. Truthfully." I could see in his eyes that he was lying through his teeth.  "But I have never known you to be the kind of man who'd go out of his way to something so... Out of character...I suppose? I am at a loss of words."

"You can say that again."

"Does Gaster..."

"No."

"What about your brother...Papyrus was it?"

"Of course not." I shook his hand off.

He looked at me shamefully.

"You didn't even tell your family? Sans!... I wouldn't expect you to tell me or your father, but to not tell your own brother?"

He pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes, like he was getting rid of a bad headache. He inhaled, and let out a strong muffled sigh. The king looked back at me with narrowed eyes, but the thing is... I couldn't sense one ounce of anger in them. Just... I don't even know.

Out of all the years i've known his Majesty, I have never seen that look on his face before. It's kinda scary, to see a whole new side of someone you thought you had all figured out. Someone you call your friend... Only to find that there are bits and pieces of them that you'd never thought existed. But hell, s'pose he is thinking the same thing 'bout me too.

~Present day~

We were never the same after that. He didn't even tell me about any punishment, I don't even think he gave me one. That's what scares me. The king and I used to chat, now we only give each other glances while walking through the castle halls. Then there's Chara. He would hate my guts if I had em. He hasn't said a word to me since that day in The Ruins entrance...

Lucky for me, Asriel and Queen Toriel haven't treated me very different. The three of us cut up and enjoy our time together as usual. But they make sure they don't bring up anything that'll cause countering conflict.

It's been a good ten years since then. I still work in the lab with Doctor Alphys, but I have taken her position as head of all our experiments. So pretty much the lab has been named as mine. Gaster tends to work alone, staying in his office day and night, doing whatever the hell comes to mind. He hardly ever talks to Paps. Too busy or just stressed out,  he enjoys his time with Bro regardless. Lately it's just three of us, the rest of the staff have been given a long needed break from our constant working. Alphys has been taking her time off too. She and Undyne have recently moved in together, and I'm more than sure that they binge watch "Mew Mew Kissie Cutie" all the time.

Oh, get this; Papyrus, the tall lanky skeleton whose heart is bigger than his chest will allow, made it into the Royal Guard a few years back. We were all really impressed to see that he had a lot more magic and strength than we all initially thought. He proved that in Judgement hall with Asgore. He and Undyne had been trying to convince Ol' King Fluffy Buns that he was ready weeks on end. So, the king challenged him to a boss fight. All of the Royal Guardsmen had showed up, including Gaster, me, and Alphys. At first, it looked to be a tie, but let's just say that after Gaster got his in the chest with one of Asgore's attacks, Paps gave Asgore one hell of a bad time. After Paps healed the big lug up to full HP, he was declared an official member of the Royal Guard.

Of course, the three of us (Me, Gaster, and Papyrus) celebrated at Gilbeys. And as expected, Gaster and I got drunk off our asses, leaving Paps to carry the both of us home.

"Honestly, I can't believe you two!"

"Oh come now son, don't be like that...It isn't very...humerus of you." And the puns began.

"Dad, please."

"Eyyy~ That was pretty punny Doc, good one!"

"Saaaannnssss!!! Nooo! Not you too!"

"Oh c'mon *hic* bro~! S'not like you haven't made a pun or so in your lifetime!"

He threw me and Gaster to the ground as soon as we stepped into the living room. Immediately, the two of us swarmed him with puns, made him go absolutely crazy.

"That is it! I'm going to bed!"

"Well sans, I suppose we could say that your brother is going to make like a tree and-"

"DAD. Don't you dare!"

"Leave~"

"NYYYYHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! SANS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HIM!???!!!"

Heh, we laughed ourselves to death.
