Backstreet's Back Part 1: The Twin Dilemma

Ycnelis looked in the mirror, running his hand through his freshly-cut hair. He frowned, and then combed his bangs over his other eye, before smiling at himself. Sure, the long hair had been cool, but it'd been a nightmare with his helmet. This was much better, in his opinion. He turned, and walked out of the room.

He came into the kitchen, and Keralis waved at him. Ycnelis smiled back, giving a little wave. Keralis did a double take, not used to 'Evil X' being that friendly. Ycnelis chuckled, and sat down at the table next to Xisuma. X made a soft grunt of acknowledgement, staring at his tea.

"That's got to be cold by now." Ycnelis pointed out, trying to start a conversation. He got another 'mm' from his twin, not much else. Y sighed. "X, look. You may have had a hand in things, but what you're doing to yourself is not how to fix that."

"Then what is!?" X snapped, turning on his brother.

"Working to mend the ruined friendship. Apologising. Finding a safe haven. Any of those!" Y counted off on his fingers, waving his arms in the air in desperation by the end. "Come on, X, you've always been the responsible one, you tell me!"

"I'm clearly not the responsible one, if I'm the one that's gotten us into this mess!" X retorted.

"SHASHWAMY! YISHNELSIE!" Keralis shouted, separating the two. "Yishnelsie is right, Shashwam. If you think you've made a mess, clean it up. But that can't happen," he glared at both the brothers, "if you're fighting." The two glanced at each other, shamed.

"Fine." Ycnelis shrugged. "I'll go talk to Tango. See if he remembers me. See if this actually is the issue." He turned, and walked toward the door.

"Ycnelis, wait." X called, although it was barely above a whisper. Y turned around to face him. "I... we just got each other back." X gasped. Y nodded sadly.

"I promise I'll be safe." Y told his twin, then turned and walked out. Keralis wrapped his hand around X's gently shaking one.

And now for something completely different.

Tango was leaning on a bookshelf, thumbing through one of the books on it, disinterested. The ghosts of his past were hanging heavy on him today, and that didn't mean the constant flashes of purple and yellow and magenta and silver drifting around the base. What he wouldn't give to be able to see just one of those people again.

He sighed, and put the book back. He wasn't getting any reading done today, not in this mood. He felt a prickle on the back of his neck, and when he checked, he saw a flicker of purple, with no eyes but unmistakably looking at him. He flinched away, not wanting to meet that gaze. He left the room, his sins crawling on his back.

And then he saw another ghost.

I am progressing this arc far too quickly lol.

I've been Entropy, peace out from the present!
