Too Much Drama For Me

I felt sick in the morning. I probably shouldn't have gone to school but I wanted to see Greg and Abby.

"You know, that was really brave of you." My mom commented as she drove me over.

I didn't say anything. We had talked it over a bit in the days following the weekend. I had a bruise under my eye. She however was on board with everything. I had just told her that his name was Greg, because I didn't want her to contact his parents and then putting Greg in danger. All she knew is that her son was bi, and his soulmate's name is Greg. She appreciated me opening up. My dad had tried to text me a few times but I ignored them for the most part. I wasn't ready to deal with that yet.

Greg gave me a concerned look when I walked over to meet the two of them.

"What happened to your eye?" He asked, even though I knew he had already guessed half of what happened.

"My dad hit me." I said miserably.

Abby blinked in surprise. "Why?"

"I did something stupid and told them I was bi."

"Have you had that for two days and you didn't tell me?" Greg fussed, trying to get a better look at my face.

Abby was still blinking in disbelief. "Was this about you guy's date? Your family called mine and I thought it was a good excuse. Oh my God Micah I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, turns out my mom isn't a jerk. I've been staying with her." I brushed it off. "I'm mostly just tired."

Greg's brow was still creased with worry, and anger. "You sure you're doing okay?"

I shrugged it off. "Honestly, I'm fine. I swear. Besides," I leaned into Greg in sort of a half hug, "You would know, or I would call you."

"And he doesn't even like calling people." Abby added. "I still feel terrible, this is basically all my fault."

"You guys stop, it's all our faults okay. Everyone was involved." I sighed, shaking my head. "I'm alright now, that's what matters, and you guys are still my friends."

"Boyfriend." Greg corrected.

"Right, boyfriend."

Abby looked back in between us curiously. "Are you officially dating now? That was fast."

"Well we already know we like each other." Greg pointed out. "What's to wait for?"

She shrugged. "I guess in the perspective of dating your soulmate, this is a reasonable amount of time."

The bell rang and students were starting to file into the school. Greg leaned forward to peck my cheek real quick before we went in our own direction. I wouldn't see him again until play practice.

Play practice sucked that day.

"What happened to your face?" Julia asked, as soon as I walked in.

"It's a long story." I sighed. "I don't want to talk about it."

Alex glanced at me every few seconds while Mrs. Freida gave a rundown of what we were practicing that day. I could tel he was worried, and would demand a full explanation as soon as we went up onto the stage to practice.

"We'll start where we left off last time, Romeo and Juliet's parents have just discovered their corpses, and about to completely regret forbidding them to be together, get to your places everyone."

"Hey." Alex asked me, as we both walked off to stage right. "Are you-"

"Hey, Halabi!" Arthur called suddenly, appearing on our side of the stage.

"Hi Arthur...?" I said, frowning uncertainly, he looked kinda pissed off.

"What did you say to Julia that one night? You know, the party? Why is she ignoring me?" He demanded.

I really don't have time for this right now. "All I did was console her after you left her crying."

Arthur's face scrunched up. It kinda reminded me of Greg whenever he was angry, kinda like this morning.

"That's none of your business." He insisted, uncomfortably.

"It's the answer to your question." I replied sternly.

"You guys." Alex said quietly, he sounded nervous. "You g-guys, stop it."

Arthur glanced down at Alex in uncertainty. That's when Abe suddenly showed up, and did that thing where he loomed over the three of us.

"Are you guys causing trouble?" He demanded, his voice calmingly threatening.

Arthur bit his lip. "No...sorry."

He walked away. Abe ruffled our hair gently. "You boys need to stop getting on bigger boys nerves."

I shrugged, and turned to see Alex's face was all red and he looked near tears.

"Are you okay?" I asked, surprised to see he was so worked up.

Alex's kinda shrugged, but it was really fast and...shaky. "Yeah."

"You don't...you don't really look okay." I observed.

"Yeah well, you're not telling me things either, okay." He gasped out, hugging his shoulders and turning away slightly.

I stopped, and froze. "Alex..."

I couldn't think of anything to say.

My stomach constricted uncomfortably and my skin felt tight and hot. I couldn't think of anything to say.

"It's...it's not because you don't want to be friends...right?" Alex started again. "You look awful Micah, I care about you."

He fiddled with the hem of his shirt and his shoulders were still tight.

"Of course not, it's just...other people are involved. I don't want to endanger them." I managed, it was a crappy excuse, but it was the only thing I could think to say.

"Okay, that makes sense. I guess it's the same for me." He agreed. "Sorry."

"It's okay. About my face, I got punched, but it wasn't from Greg. It's just something I working though with my family right now." I explained.

"Oh." Alex nodded. "Geeze, man, I'm sorry about that."

"Yeah, thanks." I shrugged. "You don't have to tell me anything either if you want."

"Thanks. I probably will, eventually, just not now." Alex looked up at me guiltily. "Sorry for stirring up all this drama, in drama."

I laughed, and sensed we were okay again.

Greg walked with me part of the way home. He insisted he didn't need to drive anytime soon.

"I would ask you if you want to stay over at my house, but yours is probably better." He sighed.

"Yeah."

"Does your mom want to like...meet me?" Greg asked. "I mean I don't know if you're okay with that, I was just wondering."

I shrugged. "I mean I know she definitely does, but I don't want her too. Not yet. Not until I know they're behind me one hundred percent."

"That's fine." He agreed. "I'm still pissed at your dad though. What a disgusting thing to do."

"I found out today also that Alex is keeping stuff from me. I don't know if it's stuff he should be telling me anyway, but we both came to terms that we were keeping stuff from each other. Then we just agreed to be okay with that. I think. It was weird. Oh and Arthur's acting like the new you. I think I have most of the cast worried about me now." I rambled.

"Do you think they'd be okay with everything?" Greg asked.

"I don't know. I think Alex would at least. He's the only one I really know. You don't really trust him, but I do."

"You know I don't." Greg snorted. "I think he's too nosy for his own good, cute, but nosy. What about Abe? His family is religious, I see them at the church all the time."

I shot Greg a look. "That shouldn't matter. If your religion requires you to hate someone, you need a new religion."

Greg blinked. "You're absolutely right."

"Thank you, and I have to go now actually. I'll see you tomorrow." I assured, leaning down to kiss his cheek and enjoying when he blushed.

"See you tomorrow."
