Asdfghjkl

"Is this where you two normally hang out?" Greg asked, as he sat down in the booth next to me, we were in the dinner again.

Abby shot me a smirk and purposefully sat down on the other side. "Kinda, we hang out more in the summer."

"And I don't think think we've ever gotten anything except for milkshakes and French fries." I added.

Greg frowned. "Please tell me you dip them too."

"Finally someone who understands the art. Keep him." Abby insisted, gesturing at me. "Chocolate or vanilla?"

"Chocolate." We both answered at the same time, I locked eyes with Greg and we both blushed.

"This is exactly why my family's doesn't take me out." Greg snorted. "My sis-"

He paused suddenly, and glanced at the two of us, looking almost frightened.

"What is it?" I glanced around, looking for whatever upset him.

Greg suddenly looked uncomfortable. "Nothing, my family just doesn't take me out to eat."

"Oh okay."

There was and awkward pause, and I felt my chest contract numbly as I tried to think of something to say.

"Are you guys doing anything tomorrow? We should hang out again." I offered, moving the conversation forward.

Abby shook her head. "I have a violin recital, then a dentist thing. I'll be busy all day."

"I'm not." Greg said softly. "I pretty much never have anything to do."

"If it's just you two, it'll be like a date, right?" Abby sipped some of her milkshake, promptly raising an eyebrow.

I froze. I locked eyes with Greg again and he looked up at me expectantly.

"Well?" He asked, fully recovering from whatever awkward record scratch he encountered earlier.

"Well what?"

"Are you asking me out on a date?"

I processed this slowly. Me on a date with a boy. A cute one. With Greg. Greg is cute. Asdfghjkl.

"I suppose I am." I realized, then suddenly realized I should probably do this better.

So instead I grabbed his hand from around his chocolate milkshake and clutched it with two hands.

"Gregory Smith, do you wanna go on a date with me?" I asked.

His entire face turned read and he stammered for a moment.

"Y-yes."

I grinned, glad that I could make him blush, and he scowled.

"Stop that."

"Stop what?" I inquired, batting my eyelashes at him.

He blushed again, and pulled the cords to his hoodie until you could just see his nose. "You know exactly what I'm talking about, Halabi."

I stuck my tongue out at him, and glanced briefly back at Abby to see she was trying to keep a neutral expression, but her smile kept slipping through. I was actually unashamedly happy at that moment, it was nice not to worry about the world for a minute.

I had a date with Gregory Smith.

"What're you waving at?" Alex asked me right, as scanned out scripts for the last few times before we went up on stage, today we were trying to practice without them.

Greg and Abby were in the back of the room watching (Mrs. Frieda had let them) because Abby wanted to see how everything was going and Greg had wanted to tag along. He had waved when he spotted me.

"Abby." I lied, pointing to her.

Alex must have spotted Greg, because he frowned. "What's he doing here?"

"We're...kinda friends." I tried to explain.

"Too familiar, is my dear son which such sour company." Alex shot me a confused look.

"Dude's that's my line."

"I know, seriously why are you friends with him?" He asked.

"It kinda just happened, he's not actually that bad once you get to know him."

Alex still looked like he disapproved. "Hey are you doing anything tomorrow? Do you wanna come over and play video games or something?"

"I'm busy, I have a date...wiiiiiiith my calendar! I have date on it, tomorrow. It says I'm busy tomorrow." I saved, then watched as Alex's eye's widened.

This is what you get for staring at Greg and not paying attention.

"You have a date?"

"I never said that."

"Dude, you'll have to tell me all about it. It it with you soulmate? Did you find them?"

"Uh...er." I felt my heart skip a beat and I wasn't sure what to say, I didn't like lying to Alex, he didn't deserve it at all. "Yeeeess."

Alex ogled at me. "Dude, that's so cool, who is it?"

"Uh-"

"Micah!" Mrs. Freida called me.

"I'll tell you later!" I told him, which wasn't exactly a lie, and hurried out to the stage.

I caught Greg's eye from the back of the room, he probably knew something was up. I felt better now that he was here. I took a deep breath and started.

"The grey-eyed morn smiles on the frowning night, Chequering the eastern clouds with streaks of light..."

I did all right, I managed to spit out most of my lines correctly. Abby clapped and gave me a pat on the back. Greg looked a little dumbstruck.

"Wow, you're like, really good." He started. "Who are you again?"

"I know right?" Abby gasped, "And he's the pastor looking guy."

"Oh, you should have totally gotten Romeo, I think you're been robbed." Greg looked like he suddenly came to a realization. "I've been robbed."

"Pfft."

I laughed, and thought about tomorrow.

I had a date with Gregory Smith.
