•Kaila's POV•

There was a knock at my door that startled me awake.

With a raspy voice I replied. "Hello?" The door slowly opened to reveal Kamden. "Kammy?"

She came in the door and stood next to my bed. I scooted over and opened my covers to let her in. I looked over at the clock, it read four, thirty-seven AM.

"Auntie? I'm scared." Kamden said.

"Awh. Why, sweetheart?"

"Mommy has been weird."

My heart started beating fast. "What do you mean?"

"Whenever her fiancé comes over, she always makes funny jokes with him, and he. . ." She broke down crying.

I just let her cry. I didn't know what for, but she was hurting, and I didn't know why. I stroked her beautiful blonde hair, hoping that would help.

Once she calmed down, she said. "He hurts me, when Mom isn't looking. He doesn't like me Auntie."

I instantly wanted to cry. I put my arm underneath her, and pulled her small body close to me. How could someone not like this precious child? The sweetest girl, I could ever know of.

"Kammy?" She continued to cry. "I'm glad you're going to camp with my church. Wanna know why?" She nodded a little in the midst of her sobs. "You're gonna have so much fun. You're gonna be around girls your age, and for a whole week, you won't have to worry about anyone hurting you. I won't let them." I whispered into her ear. "I won't let them."

After awhile of her crying, she calmed down and fell asleep. All I could was wonder, who would hurt her?

With all this drama going around in my head I needed to walk it off. The next day, I didn't even eat breakfast, just headed out into the beautiful, warm Wisconsin air.

I put in my headphones and went to walk around the neighborhood. Almost as if he knew I was going to be here, Hunter appeared.

I pulled a headphone out of my ear and smiled sadly at him. He opened his arms without even asking and I melted into his arms. I just stood there, I took out the other headphone and just listened to his heartbeat, smelled his cologne.

"Is there something wrong, my sweet?" He asked.

"Isn't there always?" My words muffled, by my head on his chest.

"What's wrong, love? Don't tell me you've been thinking about Amyra again."

"Would you do anything to me if I said sort of?"

"Kaila. . ."

I let go of him. "It's not like I can just block it out of my mind! Plus, there's more." I lead him over to a nearby bench and sat next to him. "Someone's been hurting Kamden."

"Huh?"

"Someone's been hurting Kamden." I repeated.

"I know, I heard you. But why?"

"I don't know. I do know who it is though."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. And I need to confront Kambel soon."

"Aren't they all staying at your house?"

"Yeah. I need to talk to her sometime today."

"Okay. Do you need me to be there?" He asked, a concerning tone in his voice.

I shook my head. "No, I need to do this alone." He took my hand in his and intertwined our fingers. "Did you know I was going to be out here?"

He shook his head. "No. I was just on a morning run like normal, and wanted to see if you wanted to come with when I saw you were already out. To maybe, clear your head from last night. But I see you've already done so."

I chuckled. "How coincidental then."

We sat for a bit. "Want to go to Starbucks? I haven't had breakfast yet." He suggested.

"Sure. Let me just text my mom." I quickly texted her and told her where I was going. Once she gave the okay, we stood and walked to Starbucks still hand in hand.

Once we got there, I inhaled the beautiful smell of coffee.

"What do you want? I'll pay." Hunter asked.

"Hunter don't be ridiculous. I can pay for my own food."

"No, I'm the man in this relationship, I'm paying."

"Oh are you now?" I replied sarcastically. "This is news to me."

He laughed, which of course made me laugh along side him.

We ordered our drinks and food, and patiently waited for them. Once we got them, we walked out, and sat at our spot. We sat there every time we came, and every time was special.

"You ready for camp next week?" He asked, taking a drink of his coffee.

"Yes and no. Are you?"

"I think so. The scary thing is going to college in the fall. And then the surreal feeling of not being a camper again."

"I can't imagine quite yet. But, I do have a feeling that next year will be different."

"That it for sure will. But don't worry, I'll be back during the summertime."

"I know. But school, or camp for that matter, won't be the same without you being there." I sighed, taking a bite out of the muffin I had ordered.

"Hey, it'll only be one year. I'll be back for homecoming, and prom. All your dances during football games, and I'll be back for graduation." He grabbed both my hands. "I'd drive ten thousand miles if it meant I get to see you."

My heart melted as he said those words to me. We stared at each other for a few seconds before finishing our breakfasts. Once we did, we went hand in hand back to our houses.

"I'll see you Sunday, okay?" Hunter said, going the opposite direction I was.

"Okay, I'll see you then!" I replied, going towards my house.

I thought about the events that were to come, and all I could think about was this was the last year Hunter and I were going to be at camp together.
