Part Three
It was finally the last game of school football season.
Ty's Mom and Dad, Lucinda and her moma
were there to cheer him on. Cinda wore Ty's Jersey and number. She was his cheerleader and number one fan. They were in the last quarter, and the game was really close, and whoever scored would be declared the winner. The coaches for both teams held a time-out; they both were in a huddle to go over play strategies. Ty nodded at the coach; he was the team captain, after all. The referee blew the whistle, and both teams jogged onto the field.
Then everything was in slow motion; the tight end for Ty's team threw the ball to the quarterback. He caught it and made a mad dash for the end zone. He made it, the buzzer went off, and the crowd went wild.
Family and friends held a big party in the school gymnasium to celebrate the team winning.
The coach stood up at his table and gave a poignant speech,
" I'm so proud of you guys! Y'all worked your butts off. I am so happy to be your coach. Some of you guys will be leaving us this year, and you know who you are; I wish all of you much success in whatever you do. It was truly an honor and a privilege to be your coach."
After the coach gave his heartfelt speech, everybody just partied and had a good time.
Later on, as the festivities were coming to an end.
Ty's dad looked at him and said," I am so proud of you, son. Although I always want you to win, I'm in your corner, win or lose. I love you, son." They both had tears in their eyes.
" Thanks, pops. I love you too."
As they were headed out of the gymnasium, Ty looked back and waved goodbyes to his fellow teammates. They hugged and exchanged numbers.
Lucinda waited patiently to congratulate him too.
" Hey champ, how are you?" She said in a playful tone.
" I'm fine, Cinda. Girl, you look good wearing my number and jersey." Cinda blushed instantly because Ty's comment caught her off guard.
So she almost blurted out,
" What do you want to do? "
" Want to watch a movie? You can choose whatever you want."
" Ty, it's already getting late; how about we do dinner and a movie tomorrow, my treat."
Ty was kinda of sad because he really wanted to spend time w with his favorite girl.
" Your treat? No way I am a gentleman in training."
" I want to take you out to celebrate you guys winning tonight."
" We already celebrated tonight."
" Ty, that ain't fair; let me treat you for once."
" Ok, you can leave a tip."
Lucinda saw this was a fight she wasn't going to win, so she conceded.
"Fine, see you tomorrow." She hugged him and waved bye.
Cinda's mom and Ty's dad started honking the horn for them to wrap it up.
Ty went to bed with a big smile on his face. It was officially Summer break, and he planned to spend the majority of it with Lucinda.
