The silence was becoming unbearable. Kicking at the ground and screaming was your only hopes of creating sound to distract your ears from the nothingness beyond. Being trapped in your head or soul or wherever you were was maddening in itself, let alone the insanity slowly corrupting you from the inside. You placed a hand on your heart before clenching into a fist.

(Y/n): Is anyone out there?! 

???: I am. 

You must have been going nuts. No one was there. You clutched your head as you stared at the ground.

(Y/n): Get out of my head or soul or wherever I am. 

???: How can I leave the one I love?

A pair of arms wrapped around your torso from behind and hugged you gently. You released your head and turned slowly to look over your shoulder. Standing behind you with a smile on her face was Tsubaki. Sweet Tsubaki. 

Tsubaki: Hi there (Y/n).

Tsubaki nuzzled her head into your neck from behind as you sighed in relieve.

(Y/n): I thought the insanity had finally taken over. I'm so glad to see you Tsubaki-

You cut yourself off as you remembered what the weapon had just told you moments ago.

Tsubaki: (Y/n)?

Tsubaki slowly released her arms as she moved to your front to see your shocked state.

Tsubaki: (Y/n)?!

She took a grip on your shoulder and you found yourself back in reality.

(Y/n): Tsubaki. You would never lie to me, right?

Tsubaki looked taken back from the statement, but gazed into your eyes and replied with a soft smile.

Tsubaki: Of course I would never lie to you (Y/n). 

(Y/n): Then...

You looked at Tsubaki closely. Your time together had been filled with struggles and sadness. Even the first time the two of you met she was ordered to capture and injured you in the progress. But Tsubaki would always regret hurting you let alone anyone she cared about. Tsubaki held a special place in your heart... perhaps even the place Emma held so long ago. Your heart pounded in your chest as your eyes met hers. You took a step closer to Tsubaki as you gripped her hands gently. She blushed, but her soft smile never left.

(Y/n): When you found me earlier...

Taking a deep breath, you found the words you had been looking for.

(Y/n): When you found me earlier you said how could you leave the one you love. Tsubaki... I'm gonna feel really stupid for saying this but... do you love me?

Tsubaki gripped your hands slightly before responding.

Tsubaki: Let me give you my answer.

Tsubaki leaned forward and gently pressed her lips to yours. You smiled into the kiss and closed your eyes reveling in the feeling. A warmth spread through your chest as Tsubaki unclutched your hands to wrap her arms slowly around your neck. Your hands found their way to Tsubaki's waist. The kiss was filled with love and hope for a future the two of you would share together. Tsubaki pulled away from the kiss and stared dreamily into your eyes.

Tsubaki: I love you (Y/n).

Hearing the words out loud brought a blush to your face despite the fact the two of you just shared a kiss. You smiled and responded.

(Y/n): I love you too Tsubaki.

Tsubaki's smile grew as she rested her head o your shoulder and hugged you tightly. A bright light cracked through the darkness when you returned the hug. Holding each other closer, the light enveloped the both of you.

Outside of the darkness, the group waited patiently to see if Tsubaki could save your soul. Suddenly light burst from your soul. The Grigori side of your soul began to destroy the corruption as the light grew stronger. As the group shielded their eyes from the light, said light began to morph and turn into shapes. Human shapes. The figures were holding each other close as the light faded and the color returned to the clothes and skin of the figures. The light faded entirely to reveal yourself with Tsubaki. The others cheered and raced toward the two of you to scream questions and demand answers. You turned to Tsubaki and pressed a kiss to her cheek. Your heart belonged to Tsubaki and you were gonna make sure your futures were happy for the both of you.

Several Years Later...

???: William get back here!

A boy was being chased through his home by an angry sentinel

William: Mom save me!

William raced behind his mother who placed her hands on the chest of the angry sentinel.

???: What did he do this time (Y/n)?

You were fuming with rage.

(Y/n): He stabbed me in the hand with a shuriken!

You lifted your palm to show that the shuriken was still firmly planted into your hand.

William: I was just trying to practice and Dad stood up will I was throwing it! It was an accident!

???: Did you apologize?

William: I um... S-Sorry dad.

You let out a sigh and pointed upstairs.

(Y/n): Just go to your room. I accept your apology.

William walked slowly up to his room looking guilty as you ruffled his black hair. He made it upstairs and closed the door to his room.

(Y/n): Can you help me with this Tsubaki?

Tsubaki smiled and gestured to the kitchen table.

Tsubaki: I'll get the first aid kit.

You pulled out a chair and rested your right hand on the table. Tsubaki walked back over to the table and opened the kit pulling out hydrogen peroxide and bandages.

(Y/n): I swear I'm gonna kill Black Star. Why did we even let him babysit in the first place?

You grunted out in pain as Tsubaki pulled the weapon from your hand.

Tsubaki: We had to do something for our anniversary. And he was the only one free at the time. At least be grateful William has someone we know as a role model.

(Y/n): I should be his role model! Not his narcissistic uncle.

Tsubaki poured the hydrogen peroxide over the wound and you tensed as the wound cleaned.

Tsubaki: Well...

Tsubaki began wrapping your hand.

Tsubaki: Maybe you should take him to your job sometime.

(Y/n): I'm a private investigator. He's more interested in being a ninja like his uncle.

Tsubaki: I'm just saying maybe he might have fun and see how cool you are.

Tsubaki finished up and put the kit away. Afterward, she placed a lunch in front of you and kissed you on the cheek.

Tsubaki: Have fun.

(Y/n): Nothing more fun than trying to find a lost cat, but alright. Hey William!

William walked down the stairs.

William: Yes, Dad?

(Y/n): How about you come with your old man to his job? What do you say?

William: Really?! 

(Y/n): Sure. You can see how cool it is being your dad and miss out on going to school!

William was out the door and waiting for you. 

You pulled on a jacket and followed your son outside letting your thoughts drift to Emma. Your former miester congratulated on you and Tsubaki then disappeared. She left the city altogether and this worried you immensely. However, with a bit of digging, you found something. You reached into your pocket and pulled out a slip of paper with an address on it. This was a trip for another time.

William: Come on Dad!

You put slipped the paper back into your pocket and walked after your son. You had a good life with a beautiful wife and a son you loved dearly. Nothing could be better than this.
