Confrontation with Mother
Sorry I haven't updated for a while, I love you all! <3
No one's POV:
Soul stood solemnly holding up his unconscious friend with effort, but he did not make a noise in the presence of this woman. She had always been elegant and flawless as long as Soul could remember, she'd kept him at arms length since he turned four and after that she'd turned him into the perfect son that any prestigious musician's family could ask for.
In Soul's mind it had always been Wes who had her love and attention, and Soul was just the not-so-amazing icing on the metaphorical cake.
"You'd never act this way if you hadn't gone to that school." She snapped angrily not bothering to turn to him.
Soul didn't answer. He'd never dare talk back to this woman.
"Answer me, Soul." Red eyes met red as she turned to look at her son.
"You're probably right." He finally whispered. "I might've never been freed from this family if I hadn't gone. I would never of met my friends. . . my new family . . ."
"We are your family!" She nearly screamed.
"Are you?" Soul demanded. The pain and loneliness evident in his eyes. "Are you really my family?"
"Don't say that to me." She ordered angrily looking away.
"Answer me this time!" Soul demanded.
"I am your mother!"
"Sure don't act like it-"
SMACK
Soul had a red hand print on the side of his face. "You have no right talking to me like that." She snapped with tears forming in her eyes.
At first Soul didn't answer so his mother moved away thinking the discussion was over.
"You know what?" Soul asked with a broken look to his eyes. "I'm done." He pulled up Black Star so he wouldn't fall and he began walking away.
"If you leave this house again tonight I will never let you back in." The woman cried. "I've been doing what I thought was best for you all these years and I'm sorry if you don't agree with the way I've raised you, but I did what I thought was right. I will always love you Soul because you are my son, but I won't forgive you for never calling." Her voice began to crack. "For never contacting me, I knew you were close with your grandma, but it hurt that you couldn't bother to let me know that you were alive or even let me know what all you went through being a weapon!"
Tears freely fell down her cheeks, but Soul didn't turn back. He couldn't let her see the tears that began coming out of his eyes too.
"I've sacrificed parts of both our lives so you could live happy." She admitted. "I was the one who found the school, so I blame myself for letting you get hurt there. I was the one who argued with your father to allow you to keep playing the piano after you started writing your own music. I was the one who made sure this family stayed together . . ." A loud sob escaped her lips. "Then you have the nerve to say you're done with me? And question if I'm really part of your family?" She turned away from Soul and sat down on a nearby chair.
"You'd better not leave Soul. I can't bare losing my son again."
"You could've said something before now!" Soul shouted. "I thought you of all people didn't even want a freak like me in the family anymore! I'm sorry, out of nowhere my arms turn into these blades and I don't know what to do and the first thing you do is suggest sending me away! Wow I sure felt loved!"
"I always wanted you to come back! I've tried contacting you! I've written letters, your father and brother have written letters, we still think of you as part of the family despite popular belief we do love you Soul!" She sniffed loudly.
"Then why didn't you bother to tell me I was doing good?! Why wouldn't you or dad EVER tell me that you were proud of me? Why couldn't I be something besides a musician? Why couldn't I be a-a weapon or a businessman or even a freaking chief? Why was it that everything I did wasn't good enough?! Why did I have to be what you wanted?!" Soul shouted falling to his knees, letting Black Star fall off his shoulder to the ground.
"Because I wanted you to be better than me! I wanted you to succeed me and your father! I wanted you to be the top of the family name because you could pick up a tune easily on the piano and you loved playing the piano. Don't tell me you still wouldn't play if there was a piano in front of you. I know you too well Soul."
"Right now?" Soul's voice cracked just a little bit. "Right now I'd probably slice up any piano that I see in this house. I will never play it again."
"So you're running away now? I didn't bring up a coward."
"I'm not running away." Soul defended himself wiping the tears off his cheeks.
"Then what do you call not facing your family when you have a problem. I'm sorry if you felt you could never come to me, I'm sorry if you felt I was putting something on you that you didn't want, but I am human and I thought I was doing right by you!"
Soul didn't answer.
"If you leave without resolving this, don't ever come back. Do you hear me Soul?! Don't ever-" A loud violent sob choked out of her throat from where she sat, she couldn't bare to look at him right now. "Don't ever come back!" her voice was whiny and small.
"Mom . . ."
*EXPLOSION NOISES COMING FROM ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE*
