The Date
The reaping hour has come to me. Maka holds me at the waist so she won't fall off the bike, and it sends an odd sensation up my spine as we head out to deathbucks. I don't go there often, but I know it's Maka's favorite place to go for coffee or tea when we're low.
"Here we are Maka!" I turn off the bike, and put the stopper down before I help her off my bike.
We go into the cafe, and I can feel invisible eyes staring at us as we walk up to the counter and order our drinks. I feel nervous on this date, but I don't care; I just care about the girl in front of me who I care for more than words can say.
"Hey Soul! You wanna get something?"
"Uhh uhh sure. I'll have... a deathbucks special." I don't even know if it's a thing, but it was a spur of the moment decision.

fter a while, we get our drinks and sit at a table. We sit in silence for a while, neither of us brave enough to break the ice. The drink that I got tasted funny, but I'll suck it up and drink it.
Yep, this is how half of the date was spent-in complete and utter silence.
Finally, it was the end of the night, and Maka and I had barely talked at deathbucks. I bring her to our apartment and we talk about the date that we had. I had felt awkward and so had she. We agree to just think about it and talk tomorrow.
Maka falls asleep in an instant, but the opposite for me. I think over our date and the silence that seemed eternal. I ignore it, tiptoe over to her and say goodnight, then kiss her forehead, thinking it might help me sleep. It did, so I slept peacefully knowing that I like this girl, maybe I love her who knows! That's all part of being partners.
