Beth's wings weren't broken or injured. She could still fly and feel the wind against her face. Albeit, the New York air was a good amount of polluted.
When Clint joined S.H.I.E.L.D., she joined too because he was her older brother and she looked up to him. Even though he was supposed to protect her and look after her, he didn't stop her at all because he knew how strong she was. He encouraged her to join with him and beat up bad guys.
Beth was lucky to have him as a sibling. His taste in women were amazing as well. The two were farm bodies, born and raised with chickens scattering around since they were children. Clint knew a good soul when he saw one.
So when he found Natasha, bloody and beaten up, he saw the good in her, no matter how many times she refused. Clint and her became family.
Beth and Natasha became family as well. The two women bonded over the simple things in life. Clint was a farm boy, but he acted like a city man around others.
Beth was a farm girl through and through, even if she dressed like a city woman. She liked fresh apples taken right off a tree. She didn't like the beach because when the wind was too harsh, it would throw the sand into her face. She didn't like dating because no one could keep up with her and her job.
When they were children, Beth and Clint would climb up into their family house's roof and lay there in order to look at the stars and talk mindlessly with no care in the world.
They were children and loved playing with toy cars and dolls, which turned into teenagers digging through liquor cabinets and getting into brawls. They stayed with each other through it all because they were raised to always love family.
But when Thanos snapped his fingers and Clint's family disappeared, he had gone with it. She never witnessed the broken shell of her brother or the way his moral compass was destroyed as he left behind the bow and arrow and picked up a sword instead. He left his old life behind and never looked back for five years because looking back would remind him that his wife, children, and younger sister was gone.
The next time she saw him was during the battle, then the funeral for Tony Stark. The first time they spoke since she was back, he told her Natasha was gone. Then, she cried and mourned her best friend who used to braid her hair and play board games with.
But Bethany Barton's wings still weren't broken because if they were broken, she wouldn't be able to fly, and if she couldn't fly, then she wouldn't be happy, and all Natasha wanted was for her to be happy.
