Prologue
Life is strange. Sometimes you can find yourself pursuing onto a single path for the majority of your life, only for you to find that you like doing something else.
This isn't a rare situation for a lot of people, and young Leon Flores is no different. Leon has always been known to be one of the smartest kids in school.
From his early days in elementary he was always helping friends with their homework and correcting errors in math class.
In a cozy little school, Leon attended middle school alongside his two best friends. Daniel and Donovan. The duo were twin brothers, and the three of them became an inseparable Trio.
Leon had met these two boys in Elementary, and grew with them into their first year of middle school. Daniel and Donovan where eventually given the title of "The Mac-Brothers" since they always enjoyed watching videos and streamers on their little Mac laptop.
Leon watched the teacher jot down several questions and answers in regards to the lesson they were talking. Daniel and Donovan weren't giving the majority of their attention to the teacher, but only discussing what they would want to do when they get older.
"So are you still wanting to become a streamer?" Daniel asked nonchalantly to his brother as he played with his pencil between his fingers.
Donovan simply looked back at Daniel and gave him a slightly more enthusiastic look than his brother. "Yeah." He responded. "It's one of the easiest jobs you can have, and we get to do what we love." He added.
Leon rolled his eyes with a faint smile. The two brothers always so laid back and relaxed about even the most serious of things, but that's what he grew attached to over the years.
"Being a streamer is pretty hard too, you know." Leon stated quietly as both brothers eyeballed him.
"You have to make sure your watchers are enjoying your content, you'll need some proper gaming equipment, and of course you'll need the money to keep up with the most recent games that everyone likes." He added. Daniel and Donovan gave him different looks, but both of them were understanding.
"Still, once you've got all of that down, you're set. The amount of donations watchers give you will provide the money." Daniel responded with.
Leon gave him a smug smile. "Not unless you're a cosplaying E-girl." He teased while writing down some notes.
"Hey, man. Not everyone on streaming platforms are simps..." Daniel playfully retorted. Leon simply chuckled upon hearing this.
"You'd be surprised..." Said Leon with that same smug smile.
Their conversation was then interrupted by the old school bells. The sound of them ringing was just like how they chimed in the movies. All three members of the trio had mixed feelings about it.
"Remember, Class. If you haven't finished that assignment this class, it's due as homework tomorrow." The teacher warned as Daniel instantly recoiled at this.
"Ah shit..." He groaned.
"You're good. I can come over and help you if you want." Leon offered as Daniel was able to let out a sigh of relief. Donovan simply laughed.
As Leon, Daniel, and Donovan causally roamed the cramped up halls of the school, Leon reached into his big book-bag and pulled out a pair of headphones, placing them over his neck so he could put them on and listen to music at lunch.
Back in elementary school, Leon had a reputation of being one of the "Smart Kid" in school. Since it was elementary school and everyone had immature thoughts, everyone assumed he always spent his time reading and studying at home.
But in reality, he didn't. In fact, he did the exact opposite. One of his favourite things to do on his free time was to simply slide on a pair of cheap headphones and listen to his favourite playlist of music.
Any genre of music was good enough for him. Rock, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Electro, Orchestra, you name it. He loves it all.
Despite his love for music he wasn't a very good dancer, and he was never interested in playing any of your typical instruments like a Guitar or Drums.
Once there, Leon and his two best friends all sat at one of the lunch tables while hauling their lunch trays which carried paper plates with either Pizza or cheap burgers, they all started to eat their food.
It was a little hard to swallow it down, but food is food at the end of the day. Daniel didn't mind the food, but Donovan would always stop halfway because if he ate too much of the school's food, he would get a stomach ache. Wether if it's from food poisoning or simply being full is still a mystery.
"This is worse than what they have over at Elementary school..." Donovan complained nonchalantly as he looked at his food with one of the most lifeless facial expressions you had ever seen.
"Maybe those little lunch packs aren't so bad after all..." Leon whimpered while quickly reaching for his drink. "I'm gonna start packing my own lunch. There's no way I'm gonna be eating this for 3 years..." He added.
Daniel causally cleared his plate and slurped down his drink before either Leon or Donovan were even halfway finished. "C'mon guys, it's not that bad." He gestured.
"Speak for yourself..." Leon retorted. "Hey, did you guys hear about that transfer student in our English class?" He then asked as he pushed away his tray without a second thought.
Donovan was quick to respond. "I have!" He said calmly yet with enthusiasm in his voice. "He's in class 6-6." He added.
"Really?" Leon asked as he only received a nod from Donovan. "I only got to talk to him on break. He asked me for directions. His name is Vince. I don't know his last name." He said while also pushing his tray away.
"Cool Beans..." Said Daniel in the most chill way possible. It often sounded like Daniel didn't care about what other people had to say, but you knew that it was just the way he talked.
"Anyway, I'm gonna go for a walk. I'll see you guys next class." Leon stated as he stood up while grabbing his lunch tray.
"Ok." Both Brothers said at the exact same time with the exact same tone. It was almost enough to make him laugh. He then threw out his garbage and left the cafeteria.
As the lunch break went on, Leon left the building and started walking laps around the school as he slipped on the pair of headphones that he had brought from home and hooked up his music.
The moment those headphones started playing, it was almost like Leon was in a completely different world. All that was on his mind was his music, he barely even watched where he was going. Daniel and Donovan honestly think it's gonna be the death of him someday.
He wasn't even keeping track of how many laps he had taken around the building. He was that into his little zone.
Leon eventually started popping his shoulders in sync to the beat of his song. His head tilting side to side, parallel to which shoulder went up next.
"Hm, hm, hm, hm hm, hm," He hummed. It wasn't often that Leon actually hummed his music, but today was one of those rare occasions.
However, nothing lasts forever. Leon's music daze was eventually put to an end when he felt somebody place their hand upon his shoulder.
"WOAH!!" Leon shouted, jerking forward and quickly turning around to face whoever it was that startled him.
In front of him stood another boy. Wearing a white hoodie and a pair of cargo pants. His hair was short, but not short enough to not tie a small ponytail on the back of his head.
"S-Sorry! I just wanted to say that lunch is just about over..." He explained. It's been about a week since school started, but this was the first time Leon had ever seen person.
"O-Oh...Thanks." Leon said while slowly calming himself down back to his usual attitude.
"I'm Vince by the way. Vince Nickles. I'm kinda new here..." The Boy said while scratching the back of his head.
"Oh! You're that new transfer student! My friend told me about you!" Leon informed with a small smile on his face.
"I'm sorry, what friend?" Vince asked with genuine curiosity.
"Donovan. He said met you during the first break." Said Leon with a more monotone voice.
"Oh, him! He's pretty cool! You're friends with him?" Asked Vince as he placed a finger on his chin.
Leon simply nodded upon being asked this question. "Yup. Been friends with him since first grade."
"Wow! That's a long time!" Vince gestured with more curiosity as Leon then remembered why this boy came up to him in the first place.
"Oh, Crap! We've gotta get to class!" Leon muttered nervously as Vince quickly remembered as well.
"Oh, right! If it's alright with you guys...could I maybe hang out with you guys next break...?" Vince hesitantly asked while pushing his thumbs together.
"Sure thing. Just don't touch my headphones and we'll be alright." Leon warned as both of them started jogging back to class.
