Chapter 1: The First Encounter
The sounds of beeping and chattering in the hospital made me feel a bit uneasy as time went by. I sat on a bed in the outpatient ward, waiting for the doctor to come around. The whole hospital was hectic due to the building that caught on fire this afternoon. All I knew was that the building had bad wiring and short-circuted starting from the appliance store that was on the ground floor.
And me, how did I end up here? It's not that much of a story, but it's not that stupid either. I broke my arm after slipping from the grass during football (or soccer as Americans call it) practice while running. Stupid, and I hate it. Especially when there's a fucking game next week and I can't play in it. Dammit.
"Anya Sanchez?"
"Here!" My cousin Nick (her name is Nicole but she prefers to be called Nick because it's shorter) called the nurse out for me as I raised my head to be aware of my own surroundings.
Nick looked at me worriedly and sighed. She was so excited to see the game since she wasn't able to watch last year's because she got her tonsils out. My parents made sure that she didn't sneak out or anything since the wound might open if she speaks too much.
"Are you really sure that you'll be okay?" She asked for the fiftieth time since we left the school.
"Nope." I made a popping sound and looked up at the nurse who finally arrived. Thankfully this nurse is Nick's sister Mari.
"It was a good thing Nick called me beforehand." She wiped the sweat off of her brow and looked at the clipboard she was holding. "Don't you have a game-"
"Yes, I/she do/does." Nick and I answered back in sync with a distressed voice. I placed my good arm over my eyes and began to sob silently. This is the worst moment of my life.
The curtain of the other side opened out of a sudden. I felt a tug on my shirt. I lifted my arm up a bit to see Nick pointing at a guy behind her. I did as she said and looked at the guy behind her. The immediate reaction of my jaw was to drop down to the floor. Time must've stopped when I saw him. He looked dashing like some superstar coming out from a movie with that pearly white smile he flashed out. He wore a lab coat over his clothes and glasses. Electric blue behind his thick-frammed glasses had me in shock. A face of an angel, as if this guy was told by God himself to come and sure me with that handsome smile. Nearly tan skin, but there were hints of a few cute freckles on his cheeks and over his nose. Messy golden hair that I would comb my fingers through if I had the chance. He even looks young for a doctor. If Nick had high standards for being a fangirl, I guess this guy can reach them for looking like some kind protagonist out of a book or an anime.
"Are you a surgeon? Cause you can operate me." Everyone looked at me in shock. I quickly processed things until I realized that I just said that out loud.
Damn my stupid mouth!
I slapped my mouth shut with my good arm and looked at Nick for help. Instead, she looked at me in shock with eyebrows knitted together. Her expression was purely filled with shock. She is supporting me like how a friend should. Yup.
God, take me now please. That was so embarrassing!
Mari on the other hand wasn't helping much either. She laughed her ass off and wiped a tear away from her eye. I smacked myself in the face and groaned. This is humiliating and torturous. Please just get on with the prescriptions and leave.
And, holy shit, you are older than me even with that face. Fountain of Youth must've blessed you so much that you look like you're about to enter college with a fresh face.
"The name's Jones, Dr. Alfred Jones." Blood rushed up to my cheeks as he winked.
"Oh my god..." Nick choked back her laughter.
"You guys are lucky though." Mari snapped us all back to reality and started to advertise the doctor in front of us. "Jones here is only 19."
"What?!" And because I am such a genius, I used my broken arm to support me up. An audible crack was heard and I realize that I just made my injury worse. I bit my lip and hissed at the pain before I can cuss at this injury.
"Let me check that." He slowly stretched my arm out as I sat still to refrain myself from causing anymore stupid antics.
My cheeks puffed, looking like some kid who just fell off her bicycle. The area was silent. Even Nick herself was silent, probably making sure that she doesn't do anything stupid too. Whenever I do something stupid, she ends up doing something stupid as well. It's like our own little domino effect.
"Well good news is that you'll be up in a week or two, it's not severe anyways." That cheered ne up a bit. "Bad news is that you have to take another week off from activities that can strain your arm greatly."
He gave me a sympathetic smile. I bit my cheek before I can curse aloud. I'd probably wake up those dead bodies in a morgue if I did say fucking hell. Also, hot guy in front of me. Kidding, I'd still curse in front of him anyways. Well football is mostly for the feet, but every limb is important to feel balanced.
"Is there anyway that can make this magically heal right away?" He placed his chin between his index and thumb. He looked like he was contemplating on this seriously.
"Nope." He flashed out a smile.
"Paasa!"[1] I yelled at him that made the others snicker. This Alfred guy is sort of pissing me off.
Mari and Alfred gave me instructions on how it should heal properly. Thankfully, there's no need for some sort of medicine I should take orally. I hate pills and I do hate being sick. Basically, I do not like medicine.
"Anything else?" He asked.
"Yeah, your phone number for her." Mari joked.
Blood rushed up to my cheeks again. Nick patted my back with some empathy. When will Mari ever stop telling guys these things every time we think they're cute? This has happened since that new nurse in the third floor was stationed there when we were sophomores. God help us.
"Here." Mari immediately stopped laughing and looked at him wide eye. I rose my eyebrows and Nick's mouth was slightly open. Alfred grabbed a piece of crumpled paper from the pockets of his coat and scribbled down his number with his pen. He held out the piece of paper and I grabbed it mindlessly from his grasps.
"Call me if there are any problems." Alfred winked again before he made his exit. I looked down at the crumpled piece of paper.

"Dude, I think my sister just scored you a potential boyfriend."
"Damn." Mari whistled. "My work is done here."
We both looked at Mari who had a wide smile on her face. Before we could say anything else, Mari excused herself from the room. Nick went after her for answers. I looked back on the piece of paper and opened the folded part below.
Until we meet again! -AFJ
[1] Paasa- it's like a term used by Filipinos. This is usually used to a person when they give you fake hope or they're trying to lifting your spirits up in a mocking way; refers to a person your trust and they end up not doing it.
Example:
"I promise to buy milk tomorrow."
*next day*
"Where's the milk?"
"Shit, I forgot to buy."
"Paasa!"
Anyways, it's complicated to translate it. So how was the first chapter? Didja like it? Idk man. Maybe in the future it'll get better.
Auf Wiedershen for now!

Also, I hope some of you Hetalia fans get the reference of Alfred's note at the end ;3
