Have you ever met someone that compulsively says 'sorry' even if they have no reason to be sorry? The girl in the dorm across from me compulsively apologises for, sometimes, the most useless reasons. Most people apologise if some bumps into them, well actually people don't even do that much now, or if they make a mistake that's unfixable. This girl, referred to as Jinhee by most, apologises even if she's right. She'll had you a pencil and even then she'll apologise. It makes me wonder what kind of trauma she was put through to be like this, but when I asked her she said she's fine and that there's no big reason for her apologising. She just does, and then she apologised and ran off.
Fixing my fringe, I stand up; straightening out my clothes as I stand. I decided pretty early, specifically at about 3am, that today is going to be a good day. Steeping outside my room; instead of being greeted by the smiling faces of others I'm greeted by complete and utter silence. Glorious.
Marching back into my room, I open a draw and extract a whistle from it. Exiting back into the hallway I begin walk up and down it whilst puffing as much air into the whistle as I can possibly manage and eventually people start waking up. The walls aren't very soundproof so you can hear just about every little complaint. Minutes later people emerge from their rooms looking slightly disheveled and extremely tired,
"Jisung, did you really have to do that?" One of them, by the name of Daniel, asks - or rather mumbles. "Of course, it's 8am. You should all be awake by now." Girls and boys alike all groan and head back into their rooms, hopefully to get ready. I went back into my own room to collect by bag and when I come back out, I'm faced with Jinhee. Remember, the girl who apologises all the time. "Good morning, Jinhee!" I say with a smile, she looks up at me meekly and gives me a small and rather forced smile in return
"Good morning, Jisung. I'm sorry I wasn't awake when you excepted me to be awake, really. I just, uh, overslept. Sorry." There it is, the infamous apologising.
"It's okay, Jinhee, no one else was awake either. It appears that everyone's overslept." She bites her lip, probably to stop her from apologising, and nods.
"Okay, Jisung! I'm done, what now?" Daniel emerges from his room again; I blink at him, unsure of how to respond "I don't think Jisung actually knows what we're doing." Jinhee starts "Actually, you probably do. Sorry for assuming you don't."
"No, you're right, I don't know what we're doing."
"Helpful." Daniel mutters,
"What?" Another asks, his name's Sungwoo for reference, before assessing the situation "Aren't we just going to do what we usually do? You know, spend time together. It's the holidays." Sungwoo grins at me, I can tell what he's about to say "Sungwoo for the nth time we are not going to Lotte World, again!" I say "We did that three times last week, and yesterday. Besides, Jinhee keeps getting sick on the rides and we can't just ditch her."
"Damn."
"Sorry, Sungwoo." Jinhee mumbles, looking at the floor "Don't apologise to him - it'll only egg him on."
"Sorry."
All of us, ten in total, gather outside the dorm. The sun, as per usual, is shining brightly. As a matter of fact, it's almost blinding. "So, did Sungwoo manage to convince you to make us go to Lotte World again?" Yuna raises her eyebrows at me, nobody really wanted to go to Lotte World again except for Sungwoo - and Daniel, but that's only because Sungwoo wants to go.
"No, he didn't, so we so far don't have an agenda for today." Jinhee taps my arm lightly
"Sorry, but just a thought," she pauses, thinking about whether or not what she's about to say has any purpose "can we just go shopping?"
"As in; we just go to the mall and spend time there?" I ask, she nods before looking at the ground "Sorry, if that isn't good."
"Does that sound like a good idea?" I look at everyone else, who all appear to be shocked at the fact that Jinhee suggested something. Waving my hand in front of their faces, they all snap out of their shock "Does that sound like a good idea?" I repeat to them
"Shopping?" Yuna inquires, her eyes are glimmering, I knew she'd say yes. Both myself and Jinhee nod "Yes!" She jumps into the air "I've been wanting to do that this entire time!"
"It doesn't sound like a bad idea, and I could use some new clothes." Daniel says, Sungwoo pouts and nods slowly "I don't have moe y to buy anything but sure if you want." Daniel rolls his eyes at Sungwoo, "That's because you spent it all at Lotte World yesterday, if you really have nothing else to do you can just carry my bags." Sungwoo snorts and Daniel laughs "I'm kidding, but if you really want to the offer is there."
"How are we going to get there?" Hyorin asks, as if we weren't going to take cars like we do for every other trip. Essentially Hyorin isn't the smartest, nor is she that good at picking up on things quickly.
"The same way we get to everything, genius," Minhyun mutters "cars." Hyorin glares at him.
"Paper, scissors, rock to see who's driving?" Yuna suggests, those who can't drive take a few steps back whilst everyone else quickly decides who's driving. In the end, Sungwoo and Jinhee were decided as the drivers so everyone piles into two cars.
"Is this a left turn? Sorry, I should probably know." Jinhee asks me over the noise of the stereo and everyone else's talking. Quickly searching for signs to tell me where we are, I spot one for the mall "Yeah, a left turn just here." She's turns the car into a parking lot "Over there, Sungwoo's parked there."
"Everyone else must have gone inside already." Jinhee mumbles "Sorry."
"Don't apologise, you just got your license." I reassure her, and she nods "Okay, get out everyone!" I shout to the three in the back of the car, who all clamber out of the car. I pull out my phone to ask Daniel where he is, he tells me that everyone's waiting at the food court so that we can all have breakfast together - this is going to get wild.
