Chapter 6

Is she taking me somewhere illegal? God, if I'm caught there that could destroy my reputation! WE'RE GONNA GET ARRESTED AND I'M GONNA LOSE ALL OF MY HARD-EARNED MONEY. WHAT IF SHE'S TAKING ME TO AN ISOLATED LOCATION TO MURDER ME?! "L-Lapis could you j-just please tell me where we're going? This is a bit sudden, you have to admit." I whispered as Lapis dragged me out the door. I was hit with the cool breeze of the night, and Lapis looked around quietly. "Peridot, I'm not kidnapping you. Just chill, you'll like it, I promise." she whispered back briefly before wrapping her fingers around my wrist and hurriedly pulling me along down the porch stairs.

"Sooo, you're not gonna tell me what's in that bag then?" I whispered back, eyeing her backpack skeptically. Lazuli stopped responding at this point, and I huffed anxiously. We finally stepped off the ground of Greg Universe's property, and she began to speed down a very steep (not to mention rocky) hill. I slipped from Lapis' grasp, and slowed down my walking so I wouldn't go tumbling down the hill like a boulder - possibly cracking my head open, not so much like a boulder.

"Hurry up!" Lapis whisper-shouted, finally reaching the bottom and stepping onto the beach. "I-I'm coming!" I hissed, staring down at my feet, slightly horrified. I then heard a small giggle, and I felt my face heat up. "Unlike you, I actually care about my own safety." I stated smugly, carefully placing my foot onto the squishy sand of the beach. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. You're just a weenie." Lapis smirked, turning around and walking down along the shore. "I-I didn't say that! I'd just much rather keep my bones intact." I replied quickly.

As we walked down the beach, I looked up at the moon that lit up the sand beneath us. It also caused the murky ocean to appear sparkly. Memories flooded my mind of when I would walk down this beach, and run down it.

-I ran as fast as I could across the beach. The sound of my breath hitching and the waves crashing over the shore were the only sounds that pounded through my ear drums - it was oddly terrifying. "Lapis! Please come back! Do you hate me?!" I shouted, but I got no answer.-

"You good?" I then heard Lapis ask abruptly, and I shook my head. "Yes. Can you repeat what you said?" I asked formally, folding my hands behind my back as we continued to walk. "Oh, all I said was we're almost there." Lazuli replied as she pointed ahead of us. She was referring to beneath the enormous docks where it was dark...and most likely filthy. "Is...that where we're going?" I asked, trying not to sound utterly disgusted. The bluenette then turned to me and raised an eyebrow, and gave me a smug smile. "You don't sound too thrilled." she chuckled.

"Well, I don't exactly know why you're taking me there. We're gonna be consumed by the shore!" I said, throwing my arms up in the air. "Calm your tits. The shore never comes up that high around these hours." Lapis snorted. We reached beneath docks, and there were just wooden pillars everywhere. We walked deeper into it, and it only became darker and darker, which highly unsettled me. After about 15 whole minutes of walking, we finally reached the end of it that connected to the rest of Beach City - it was just a large concrete wall. The moonlight leaking in through the pillars wasn't exactly enough for me to be able to see the entire thing Lazuli seemed to have created.

"Check this out." she said as she pulled out her phone. Her voice echoed across the area, and I looked over at the bluenette. She then shined her phone's flashlight onto the wall, and I could clearly see now. She had vandalized the entire wall! Graffiti was plastered across the entire surface, so many different brightly colored designs, and it was difficult for me to completely comprehend. "What do you think?" she asked. "Y-yOU VANDALIZED THIS ENTIRE WALL?!" I raised my voice, and it bounced off each pillar down there.

"SHHH!!" she shushed me, furrowing her eyebrows. "It doesn't matter, it's not like anyone comes down here anyways." she said in a low voice. I took a few more moments to study the features of this illegal piece of art...and I must say even though I was appalled by how wrong this was...I was impressed. She really did have a talent. I was astonished, actually. "Did you do this all...with spray paint?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Lapis then dropped her backpack onto the ground, and unzipped it. It revealed several cans of spray paint, and it immediately answered my question. "Wanna add to it?" she asked, grinning as she pulled out a can. I was taken aback by this and scoffed automatically.

"I'm no rule-breaker, Lapis. Any time I even remotely was, those days are over." I stated, crossing my arms. Lapis rolled her eyes, and her shoulders slumped. "C'mon, Peridot. No one's gonna be down here. Especially at this hour. Besides, it's not like I'm asking you to write your name in big red letters for the world to see." she explained. I took a moment to think about it, and side glanced her slightly. "I-I'm..." I pursed my lips, and uncrossed my arms. "I'm not exactly..." I kept stammering, and I mentally cursed myself for it. However, Lapis waited patiently for me to finish.

"I'm not exactly the artistic type." I finally said, looking to the side shyly. "Awww, c'mon that's not true. There's gotta be a nerdy creative Peridot still in there somewhere." Lapis tilted her head. My cheeks began to heat up once more, and I quickly turned around, harrumphing. Lapis said nothing, and there was a painful silence in this area now. I remained turned around, attempting to keep my ground steady and firm. I was immediately startled by the light tap of Lapis' finger on my shoulder. "You know you want toooo...~" she purred, and I heard the click noises of her shaking the can.

I bit the inside of my cheek, and didn't give in. She then jabbed my side with two fingers, and I squealed. "HEY!" I screeched, turning around as I bristled. Lapis giggled, and over dramatically brushed her fingers softly against the can, as though she were advertising it. She kept waving her hand over it, and shook it more violently. The shaking intensified the more unresponsive I was. I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Isn't this a little childish?" I asked, eyeing the wall behind Lapis. Her happy expression slowly faded, and she shrugged lightly. "C'mon, cut me some slack, Peridot. Life has been really rough lately...let's just let loose for a little bit." she pleaded, scrunching up her eyebrows.

The flashlight on her phone was now turned off, but I could still clearly see her eyes. Something about them...you just couldn't look away from. Even if she was one of my nastiest enemies in the world, I still wouldn't be able to look away from her eyes. They were more gray, with a dark blue hue that made them appear mysterious. Like you could never know what her true intentions were, but you couldn't break from the contact. It was a scary, yet thrilling feeling to look into her eyes and have her look right back.

However, this eye contact was broken once again, by none other than her. She abruptly broke it by looking down at the ground beneath us, and pursing her lips in a glum manner. She always did that...always. I finally decided to acknowledge it.

"Why do you do that?"
