19: Boys Are Bad News, And That's The Tea

As soon as the two teens walk into the school, Max spots them and exhales a sigh of relief.

She didn't think Mike would seriously go out of his way to apologize to Goldie, but based on how the two are smiling and laughing quietly to each other while they walk, he seems to have taken care of it. It's unclear where their relationship lies though, and whether they're friends or not.

Max, as straightforward as she is, promises herself to question it the next time her and Goldie are alone. Which would be quite soon, as Goldie seems to be walking her way.

"Hey, Max," Goldie smiles, approaching the girl stood at her locker. "Sorry about yesterday.."

"Don't be," The red head assures with a soft grin. "I'm just glad you're okay now. I wanted to go see you as soon as I got home, but I assumed you'd want some time alone. Plus, that idiot said he was gonna apologize, and I didn't know if he was serious or not."

The two glance to Mike who is awkwardly stood by Goldie's locker across the hall, patiently waiting for her to finish her conversation.

"Yeah, I'm just as shocked as you that he actually wanted to apologize," she snorts in response. "I forgive him though."

"So, What now? Are you guys friends now?"

"Well we kissed so—"

Max nearly chokes on her spit, staring dumbfounded at her shorter friend. "No way. Please tell me you're joking, tell me this is some sick joke—"

Goldie laughs, "it's really not that big of a deal! What's wrong with us kissing, anyway?"

"Boys are bad news, Goldie," she groans, annoyedly. "He's gonna hurt you, and I know it. Look, I want to be his friend, but I don't know about you guys dating."

"Well, I'm not so sure we're 'dating'," Goldie corrects. "He hasn't asked me out, so technically we're not."

"Just be careful, and don't do dumb things," Max sighs, shutting her locker and walking with Goldie back towards Mike.

"It took you two long enough," He rolls his eyes. "C'mon, we have to meet the guys behind the school before school starts. We're gonna be late now since you idiots took so long."

Max glares at the boy, while Marigold ignores his attitude and wraps her hand in his as they walk towards the back of the school.

He's taken by surprise, but never once considers pulling away. Instead, a blush sweeps across his cheeks, and he switches from complete asshole to sorta soft all from her simple touch.

What the hell was even happening to him at this point?

"What're we even meeting them there for?" Max scoffs as soon as she see their hands interlocked. "You two are the worst. You're rushing into a relationship way too fast."

"Our relationship is none of your business," Mike spits back. "And we're looking for dart."

"Actually it is my business because she was my friend first—"

"Yeah, well—"

Goldie interrupts their argument, annoyed. "Will you two stop fighting! Jeez, I love you both, you don't have to be so jealous of each other."

"I am not jealous," they say in unison, only making Goldie giggle more.
