Sophie felt like absolute unicorn poop. Sure, she looked pretty, but she didn't feel pretty. Her side hurt like a buttcheek on a stick, she just exploded on Fitz, she jumped off of Foxfire's giant cliff to Everglen, and Biana was scared. She didn't know what to do-she was sick anyways, so it wasn't like Biana could take care of her. She felt really bad springing this on her.

"Wha-what happened?" Biana coughed.

"Cognate training happened, B," Sophie said. She was starting to cry, and she was just really sad. What the hell was happening? She wasn't even sad, but she was crying!

"It's okay. Do you want a ti-" Biana said as she sneezed on her new puffy pastel pink sheets.

"Tissue? Tha-that would be great!" She said as her eyes were leaking so much, but for no reason.

And then the doorbell rang. She could see Fitz.

"I-I'll be back. Hide in my bathroom. You look like you could hurl or faint at any second."

"Thanks, B." Sophie wobbled over to Biana's fancy marble-covered bathroom.

As Biana was talking to Fitz, Sophie felt wobbly like she was going to faint. She just lost it. She felt her head fall on the plush pink carpet. She couldn't move. She didn't remember after that, only hearing a screaming Fitz.

And she woke up on a cot, to a sobbing Edaline and shaken Grady trying to comfort Edaline. "I-it's okay, Eda. Soph's strong. She's fine." Grady said, and Sophie wasn't sure if she believed him, though.

"I'm fine, Mom-" Sophie said struggling to get up, which scared Grady and Edaline.

"Sit back down, lassie!" Elwin panted. Lassie? Sophie thought that was a new one.

And Fitz automatically popped up, "What happened? I-I was at Everglen ten minutes ago!"

"More like 2 days ago, Wonderboy. You really scared us that time!" Dex said from the corner of the room. "You realize how much Biana worried? That makes me worried, Fitz! Don't do that! Especially bringing Sophie down with you."

"What? I was in Biana's bathroom! And I was crying randomly-"

Fitz shook his head. "What about the side pains, Elwin?"

"I was the one who landed horribly on my side when I teleported."

"What's happening to us?" Fitz and I said at the same time.

"I believe I can answer that, Mr. Vacker and Ms. Foster-Ruewen.
