five
sophie
"Would've been nice to know this before I was mentally attached to him,"
"It's not like I wanted this. I don't think that anyone would want this- your emotions are REALLY strong. Keefe is right, it's like every five seconds I get a bomb dropped on my brain- but why am I relieved?" Fitz said, puzzled. Sophie was relieved. Still really angry and annoyed, relieved somehow.
"That's all Foster, Fitz. She's also really really angry at you, but she's relieved."
"I am NOT relieved. He's a jerk, and he's horrible. I don't want to be his SOULMATE! Can I leave or something, because this whole thing is nauseating."
"Sorry to butt in Soph, but what exactly is a soulmate, Bronte, and why haven't I heard of that?" Dex asked. He was still confused by the emotion link that Fitz apparently had with Sophie.
"I believe Miss Foster should explain that. After all, humans are very fixated on that idea."
"I'm out!" Sophie yelled almost instantaneously. She didn't want to deal with this right now.
"No, you're not. You owe not just me, but ALL of us an explanation. Sit down, Sophie." Fitz said as he grabbed her arm. She inflicted on him only to get the pain back instead of hitting Fitz. It was searing and she was completely hating herself, so she sat down on the cot and started talking.
"Fine, Wonderboy. A soulmate, which is a totally fake thing that's extremely cheesy that only humans that are romantic care about, are two people. They're like, attached. There's actually a Chinese Myth about an invisible string, but basically, a soulmate is someone's like, eternal husband or wife. They're connected somehow, by love or something, and they love each other? It's never platonic though, it's almost always romantic or umm..sexual."
"Well shit, Foster. No wonder you didn't want to talk about it, I'd be annoyed too. No offense, Fitz."
"Offense took," Fitz said as he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Apparently, Fitz was still mad at her, and she was fine with that! He was horrid. "Can I go now?"
"Nope. You are staying. Sit your ass down and listen to Foster."
"Actually, it's fine," Sophie said with a fake smile. She just wanted to curl up in a ball. "I don't need anyone to stay, umm....can I go home, Grady? I'm sorry by the way, B. I didn't mean to scare you."
"You and my brother are such headaches sometimes."
"I know, B. Thanks."
"You're just going to leave?" Fitz said before she made it out the door.
"What am I supposed to say? 'Sorry, Fitz, I was being stupid, I'm happy you're my soulmate!' 'Cause that's not gonna happen, Fitzy. I'll see everyone tomorrow." Sophie said as she slammed the door. She was pretty happy she just did that. Served him right.
