A Perfect Night Gone Wrong

Finally, Sophie could see Fitz's face. He looked stunned, and Sophie figured that him being surprised is a good thing.

Everyone matched up with their partners and Sophie noticed that Marella had already leaped over and was by Dex's side.

Marella was wearing a beautiful, floor length simple red ball gown. The gown had long, flowy sleeves and it was a deep red that contrasted Marella's dirty blonde hair.

Dex's parent's, Edaline and Grady, and Alden and Della were all dressed up and in the room. That meant there were fourteen people in total.

Everyone was wearing beautiful gowns and handsome tuxedos. There was exciting music and gentle yellow-toned lights. There were tables lining three sides of the room and on the fourth wall, there were large doors that opened up to reveal the beautiful ocean and scenic cliff in the distance.

Sophie and Fitz started dancing to the music and soon the whole dance floor was covered with everyone dancing.

The ladies were spinning and the gentleman were all flashing charming smiles and looking dashing in their fancy suits.

"I need a break," Sophie said after two dances.

She was tired, but she also didn't know the next dance and didn't want to embarrass herself.

"Okay, dessert table?" Fitz offered.

"We haven't even had dinner."

"So?"

Sophie smiled and followed Fitz over to the table.

"Brownie or cremelet?" Fitz asked her.

"Both," Sophie answered simply.

Fitz smiled and shook his head but put a a couple brownies and a couple cremelets on a silver plate and handed it to Sophie.

Fitz turned around and grabbed another cremelet and shoved it one Sophie's mouth. Cremelets were the size of a fist, so they were pretty big.

Sophie tried to chew the dessert, but it was too big. The dessert wasn't even all the way in her mouth! She stood there, looking stupid as her mouth was wide open, a cremelet shiver in the space, while Fitz was laughing his face off.

"It's not funny," Sophie said but it came out as, "icks hot hun-knee."

This sent Fitz laughing even more. He was bent over laughing and tears were present in his eyes.

"Help!" Sophie tried to say, but it sounded like, "Helg!"

"Okay, okay," Fitz said straightening  up.

He brought his mouth to Sophie's and took a bit out of the part of the cremelet that was shoved in her mouth. The cremelet was still too big to even begin to chew, so Fitz took three more large bites out of the dessert than was inside her mouth.

After a solid minute of chewing and swallowing the delicious dessert, Sophie started to work on Fitz.

"That was so mean!" She said.

"And funny, you're forgetting it was funny," he defends.

Ooohhh man, Fitz, you're treading on thin ice, boy, THIN ICE!!!

"I couldn't even chew it!" Sophie complained.

"Did you like my way of helping you out?" Fitz asked mischievously.

Sophie would never admit that she liked the way he helped her out. It was so... weird and un - couple - like, but she loved the ya it sent shivers down her spine each time he put his mouth close to hers.

"It was very childish," Sophie scolds, and says instead of being honest.

"Oh, come on, you loved it," Fitz said picking Sophie up.

He threw her over his back and and held her up by her thighs.

"Don't leave my desserts!" Sophie said.

Fitz grabbed the overflowing plate of desserts and brought it halfway across the room to a table.

Instead of putting Sophie down, he went over to the stage.

"Fitz? What are you doing?" Sophie asked nervously. She was still slung over his shoulder and

Not able to see where Fitz was going.

"Hush," he said and Sophie grumbled something about "some boyfriend".

Fitz went up to the microphone on the stage, still not setting Sophie down and said, "can I have you're attention, everyone?"

"Great," Sophie grumbled.

What was better than everyone staring at her butt?

"Thank you," Fitz said. "I would like to thank the ladies tonight. We men are all extremely lucky to have all of you persevering, brave, crazy, but beautiful women in our lives. Sometimes us guys are stuck up and selfish, but you girls love us anyway. So thank you."

Everyone laughed and clapped and the music resumed.

Fitz FINALLY set Sophie down.

"Save it," Fitz said as soon as Sophie opened her mouth. "Just enjoy this dance with me."

Before Sophie could protest and say she was hungry, Fitz grabbed her arm and twirled her and then pulled her close to him and gripping her tightly by the waist, so they were both pressed up tightly together and Sophie couldn't go back to her desserts. The dance was a slow dance, so she didn't have to worry about knowing any steps.

"Can I kiss you?" Fitz asked, leaning in to her.

Their noses touched and all Sophie would have to do to have their lips touch was lift her head.

"People would know. About our relationship," Sophie whispered.

"Nobody would notice. If they did, we would just say we were acting."

"Why don't we want to tell anyone?"

"I don't know. I want it to be just you and me. Nobody else, no complications in our relationship," Fitz whispered back.

"Grady and Edaline know."

"I already told them we want to keep it quiet."

"But-"

"No buts. I am your boyfriend. I have earned the right to kiss you."

Fitz was still giving her the choice though: he didn't lean in any further, but he made it very clear he wanted to kiss her.

Sophie learned in and kissed him, without another thought.

Honestly, who cares if  someone see them together?

Acting. It was all an act. That's what they would say and all would be well.

Even though, Sophie and Fitz knew very well that it wasn't an act, they didn't have to tell the truth until they were ready.

Obviously it was always good to tell the truth, but this was their decision, and if they wanted to not reveal the truth, then the wouldn't reveal the truth.

Sophie wrapped her arms around Fitz's neck, pulling them closer together and she could feel Fitz's finger burning into her side, like fire.

Sophie's hands moved into Fitz's hair and she pulled and rugged and let her hands explore the dark, thick mass of hair on Fitz's head.

Sophie knew that this was by far their longest kiss, but neither of them seemed to want it to end.

It was at least two or three minutes before they pulled back, needing air. Sophie rested her head on Fitz's chest. He was only a little bit taller than her, so she sort of rested her chest head on his neck/shoulder/chest.

They were both breathing heavily and Sophie knew her cheeks were red. Her lips were swollen and Sophie knew Fitz's were too. They were both a mess, but they were a mess together.

After the song ended, Sophie excused herself to the bathroom so she could make sure she looked okay still.

Sophie walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. She didn't look too bad, her hair was a little bit messed up, her lips were slightly larger than normal, and her eyes were wild.

Sophie took a few minutes to first straighten her hair. The she reapplied the lip gloss and toyed with the idea of adding more eyeshadow to cover up her crazy eyes.

Sophie decided against the makeup for two reasons: one, and already had plenty on, and two, because makeup was more of a Biana thing. NOT a Sophie thing.

Speaking of Biana, Biana strolled into the bathroom and stood next to Sophie.

"Having a good night?" She asked.

"It hasn't been bad," Sophie replied.

"I'll say," Biana said.

"What do you mean?"

"You were kissing my brother for half the time."

"I was not!" Sophie defended.

"Uh... yes you were. Both of your mouth were literally latched on to one and other. I was considering telling you two to get a room."

"Are you the only person who saw?" Sophie asked shyly.

Biana started laughing and said, "everyone saw, Sophie."

"No, I am serious."

"So am I. Tam and I watched you too and were joking about you two over by the drinks table and we saw the adults by the food table and they were all grinning and talking in hushed voices. They all kept sneaking glances at you two. And Marella and Dex were dancing along with Keefe and Linh and they were all by the dessert table. They started laughing and cracking up and the four of them stopped dancing to watch you. I am serious when I say that there was like a circle of  people watching you two kiss in the middle of the dance floor."

Sophie moves her hands over her face. "That is humiliating!"

"It was entertaining, is what it was. Tam and I even timed you two! I happened to look over as you two were leaned close to each other and Tam was wearing a gorgeous watch and we timed you! Guess how long?"

"I don't know? Two minutes?"

Biana nearly fell over laughing. "Guess again."

"Four?"

"Oh girly. You were two were snogging for nine minutes!"

"WHAT?!? I can't even hold my breath for that long!"

"We are elves. We can hold our breaths underwater for way longer than a few minutes. Elvin instincts kick on when you least expect them, such as when you are kissing a certain someone..."

"Okay, okay, I get it. Can we go now? I am embarrassed enough as it is."

Biana laughed. "Okay, you may leave. I came in here to use the bathroom, so I will do that."

"Okay," Sophie said and left the bathroom.

Sophie couldn't help but look around at everyone. Thankfully, no one was staring at her. In fact, they all seemed to be going back to what they were doing before.

Sophie walked over to where Fitz was, standing next to Keefe. They were both laughing.

"Hey Sophie," Fitz's greeted. "Do you want a drink?"

"That would be great, punch is fine," Sophie replied.

"Okay, stay here, I will be right back," Fitz said and walked away to grab the punch.

"Hey, Keefe?" Sophie asked Keefe. "Can I talk to you outside for a minute?"

"Anytime, Foster."

Once they were outside, Sophie  began to talk. "I just wanted to say thank you for teaching me some dances. Tonight was so perfect and part of that is because if you. Just, thank you so much for that, I really appreciate it."

"Of course, Foster, anything for you."

Before Sophie could register what was going on, Keefe had her pressed up against a tree and smashed his lips to hers.

It felt so foreign and strange compared to Fitz's lips. It wasn't unpleasant, but it certainly key didn't feel right, at all.

Keefe didn't have any place to be kissing her, so she shoved him off.

Before she could yell at Keefe, Sophie saw Fitz in the massive doorway as two cups of punch fell to the floor. His eyes held many emotions: rage, betrayal, anger, hurt.

He turned on his heel and quickly walked away.

Sorry that was a little shorter than normal, but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. I am also going to be super busy the next few weeks so I won't be able to update until June 23rd. Long says away... I know.

I just hope you don't give up on my story before then!

Please vote and let me know what you thought of this chapter!

Love you all 😘
