Sophie pov

We sat together in the car after dad was done working. 

"Hey ah dad I think I need therapy." I blurted out as quick as I could. I just hoped he would agree.

"Alright. Did you talk to Duke about this?" 

"I did, yeah. He agrees." 

"I'll look into it yeah?" 

"Okay." 

"How'd the appointment go?" 

"It went fine, he gave me a checkup and two shots." 

"Stitches off?" 

"Yeah."

"I'm still really sorry for what I did." 

"It's okay you were drunk, you had just lost your job." 

That was the thing I was trying to tell myself since last week. He was drunk. He had just lost his job. He was stressed. He didn't mean it.

What if he didn't mean all his 'sorry's'?

"It's no excuse for me to hurt you. I should've been responsible and not gotten drunk." 

"It's okay." 

I was starting to feel unsafe when he was in the house so I barely got out of the room when he was there. I was starting to feel unsafe around the person i've loved the most. The one person who has remained constant. He was going to be home. I was going to be home. I needed company. 

"Can I have friends over?" 

"Of course. You know I don't mind them coming over." 

I nodded and texted Chloe and Zoey.  We hadn't hung out for a long while. 

We got home and I went into my room. 

"Sophie we're here." Chloe yelled. 

I got out and hugged them both. 

"We missed you soph." 

"A lot of stuff has happened i'm sorry." 

"It's okay. We don't care. we're all here now." 

The three of us went to my room and sat on the bed. 

"Why's it so plain?" Zoey asked. 

"I just haven't had the time to decorate it." 

"How's your new school?" 

"It's good, yeah. I like it." 

We sat in my room and caught up for a few hours before they had to leave. Dad came in to check once but he was gone then. 

"Dinner?" He asked once they were gone. I nodded. 

"What do you want to eat?" 

"Anything, I don't mind." 

"Pasta?" I nodded and went to my room. I started to feel dizzy but laid down on the bed. It passed after a while but now, I had a headache. It was bad.

I stayed like that till dad called me. 

"You okay? You look sick." 

"I just think i'm tired." 

"Sleep after dinner." I nodded and we ate the pasta together. It was good but my head was throbbing. It hurt so bad but I didn't want to tell him. I quickly ate and went to my room. I heard him cleaning up but I wanted to drown it out. I was nauseous, my head hurt, and I locked the door to the bathroom. 

I started to feel like I was going to throw up, I quickly turned on the shower and threw up all I had today. I was now feeling worse than I already was. My throat hurt, I had a horrible taste in my mouth. 

Just then, I heard knocking. 

"Hey,you okay?"

"I'm fine, just showering." 

"Alright, I'm going to bed. Shout if you need me." 

"Goodnight." 

I heard him go out and then just sat on the floor. I was dizzy and I didn't feel like I could stand up. 

Suddenly, I felt okay and stood up. The headache was gone and everything was okay. I went to my bed and laid down hearing my phone buzz. It was at text from Parker. 

Parker: Hey, can we meet after school tomorrow? I wanted to ask you something. 
Me: Of course, I'll be there <3. 

 I checked my socials for a while and then started studying. That's when I remembered I had an English essay to submit next week so I started working on the first draft for it. My phone buzzed again 

Parker. "Okayyy!<3" 

 I liked the message and started working again. I was done studying around 1. Then, I went to bed setting an alarm for the morning.  I always slept after setting an alarm ever since that day. It was fifteen minutes before Dad used to wake me up so he didn't need to anymore.  I heard shuffling outside. I opened my door to see dad putting his shoes on. 

"Where are you going?" 

"To the hospital. They need me." 

"When will you be home?" 

"In the evening tomorrow. Lock the doors yeah?" 

"Okay." He grabbed his keys and went out. I locked the doors like he said. I went to my bed to lay down but couldn't sleep so I went on Instagram. 

Dr.dukewilliams: Why are you still up?
sophie_w456: Why are YOU still up?
dr.dukewilliams: I'm at the hospital, your turn now
sophie_w456: Can't sleep, and dad just went to the hospital. 
dr.dukewilliams: Well, i'm about to get off my shift. I'm coming over. 
sophie_456: I'd appreciate that. 

Around twenty minutes later, someone knocked on the door. 

"Open the door, it's me." 

I opened the door and let him in. We sat on the couch. He brought up the appointment. 

"Talk to Ash?" 

"Yeah, He said he'll look into it." 

"Good it'll be a new chapter for you cause I've been noticing you're not really yourself ever since your grandma died."

"It was something, yeah. Hopefully I'll survive this one before starting the new one." 

"You will for sure survive this one. Me and Ash are right here to push you if you get sidetracked." 

"I know." 

"Coldrinks?" I nodded. 

He bought the glasses and we clinked them together. 

"To a new chapter." He said and all I could think was hopefully.
