Ashton pov
That was not a decision made in a hurry it would not be good for Sophie if she was in the school of that man. Right now, I was beyond angry.

Not at Sophie, that kid. Cause of her, I had to fire Neil. He would never do such a thing as messing with all the passwords. I knew that others didn't. So it was one against the whole board.

I just sat in my seat thinking all of this. Sophie was sitting in her seat just looking down. I could tell she felt guilty. This was the first time I was ever called cause Sophie got in trouble.

"I am not angry with you. It wasn't the right thing to do but still." I said to Sophie.

"Wait dad I punched a girl, got suspended, and you are not angry?" She asks.

"Yeah, Sophie. Even suspension in this case is harsh. She just got a little scar. Nothing much. I saw her in the clinic myself." I say. She nods. She was about to cry right now. I could see it in her eyes. I decided to cheer her up with ice cream. 

"So which ice cream would you like?" I ask. I said and started the car.  A look of confusion comes on her face.

"Ice cream?" She says.

"Yeah, you deserve it. you stood up for yourself." I said. 

"Dad, I really am not in the mood for one." 

I drive to the nearest ice cream parlor, and I told  Sophie to get whichever she wanted and to get a chocolate one for me and gave her the money.  I saw Neil there.

"Hey Dr. Walker." He said walking up to me

"Hey Neil." I say.

"You were a great mentor, but yeah my family won't let me stay here without a job so I'm going today, it was nice knowing you." He said. 

"Neil. You don't need to move. The person who did that herself confessed." I say 

"What? Who did that? Do you have proof?" He asks.

"Yeah. I do I have it recorded." I say.

"Can I listen to it? He asks.

I give him my phone and he puts it to his ear.

Flashback from when ashton met sabrina.

"So sabrina who did this to you?" I asked stepping into the room not looking up from the chart. I was looking over her allergies and stuff. High school fights were common and some of them ended up at the hospital

"Your daughter." She said.

Sophie? I asked. I was confused. She would never hit someone like that

"Yeah." I said.

It was nothing much just a little bleeding cause of the sudden punch. 

"So your wife is dead. Right?" She asks.

"I don't like to talk about that to strangers but yeah she is." I say.

"So what happened with Neil I did that." She says.

"How?" I ask. I had just gotten free from that drama and fired him.

"I have sources." She says.

"Well now you are done." I say.

"Thanks." She says and hops off.

"What you just said was recorded I like to record patient visits." I say.

"Do what you wanna do." She says and gets out the door.

I called her parents by taking the phone number from the desk. And told them she visited here, and what happened. 

Flashback end 

"Dr. walker thank you so much." He said. 

"It wasn't fair to you and I don't let these things happen, especially to the ones I like. you're good Neil and you're hired back." I said my tone professional but inside I was smiling. 

"We are not leaving." He says to his sister.

I knew he had a sister. His parents died when he was pretty young. Like 12 or 13. I met him when he was 18 in medical school where I was taking a conference with Sarah.

Since then, we were in touch. Sophie came back.

Sophie pov

I came back with the ice creams. Dad was talking to Neil.

"Dad, what happened with him?" I ask.

"Well, he is hired back." He says. I nod.

Dad pays for the ice cream. And we go to the car.

"Dad, you are really not angry?" I ask again as we sit in the car.

"I am not Sophie, I just got to know that he was the principal so I wasn't gonna keep you in a school in which he was the leader plus you stood up for yourself."

"Okay," I say.

We both eat the ice cream quietly, and then dad drives off home.

"Sophie, I have to go to work. Stay at home. I will be back by 6 or 7." He says.

"Okay, dad. Have a great day."I say hopping out of the car.

I walk inside. I just went up to my room. I felt a sudden urge to cry so I went to my room and did that. Then suddenly I got Nathan's call.

On-call
N: Nathan, S: Sophie

N: Hey Sophie, how are you?
S: I am okay Nate. How are you?
N: I am fine. But you sound like you were crying. Everything alright?
S: Yeah I just miss mom and a lot happened today. 
N: Okay, let's facetime and talk about it if you want to or we can talk about other stuff.
S: No, I have been crying for a long time.
N: Well, it's not like I haven't seen you cry.
S: Okay. Let's do it.
We FaceTime for a while then he says it was time for him to go to school so we hang up.

It was fun talking to him. After a long time. I still loved him. He did too the thing was written clearly on his face, but I guess fate. I kind of liked Parker too. But I didn't know If I would ever meet him again.

Then I just was tired of laying down so I took a book out. My reading books as I hadn't gotten any of my books this year. I read it and while reading it I fell asleep.

I hear dad come into the room as I wake up. He comes and sits on the bed

"Were you crying?"He asks. 

"Yeah, I was and Dad I wanna ask you something. Can I?" I asked. 

"Sure, ask away." He said.

"Mom died cause of me right? cause I kept that toy on the stairs and she slipped on it." I said fast cause I didn't really know how to ask dad this.  He took a deep breath.

"She didn't Sophie. She had a tumor in the part of her brain which maintains our balance it had been growing all these years. And that day, it just burst out of nowhere and it made her lost her balance." Dad said.

"So all these years, she had it." I say.

"Yeah." Dad says.

I hugged him and began sobbing into his chest. He said nothing. 

"Sophie are you alright now?" He asks.

"I don't know dad." I say.

"That's alright this is a piece of heavy information you can take your time figuring out how you feel after knowing this, also I found you a new school and you start the day after tomorrow cause you'll just think too much at home." He said. 

To be honest, I was relieved cause he was right I will think too much. 

"Alright, dad," I said.

Then both of us just sat there. I told him about what happened at school and he told me what happened with Sabrina. 

"Tomorrow you can just relax, have first-day jitters, and I will be there tomorrow. I don't have work so we will just spend a day in and watch movies all day." He said.

"You are off tomorrow?" I ask not really sure that he was off for the whole day as it was a rare occurrence.

"Yep." He says.

"Now you want dinner?" He asks.

"Dad, I am not really in the mood." I say.

"You had breakfast and that was your last meal so you need it or you will get sick and malnourished so you are having it." He says sternly.

"No dad I am not in the mood." I say.

"No further arguments. You are having dinner. End of discussion." He says and goes out of the room. 

I was a bit frustrated now. I picked up my phone and headphones and put on the album Heartbreak weather. It always calmed me down. 

After listening to the whole. I went down and found dad sleeping on the table with his head down.

I just shook him by his shoulder.

"Let me sleep I don't feel good. He says and turns his head the other way.

As he was not feeling well I just went up to my room.

1 hour later

I hear dad coming up the stairs.

"Sophie come down for dinner." He said his voice sleepy.

"Alright, dad." I say and go downstairs. 

"Dad are you okay?" I ask.

"I'm fine, Just a headache." He says his voice still sleepy.

I quickly ate the food he gave me, he was eating slowly today so I just sat there to give him company and as he was not well I decided to do the dishes.

"Sophie you can go do something else after I eat I will do the dishes and the table cleaning." He says.

"No dad you are not feeling good so I will do it." I say.

"Fine." He says.

After about 15 mins he is done.

"Give it to me." I say standing up.

"Thanks, soph." He says and goes to his room.

"Call me if you need me," I say.

"Alright."  He says.

I do the dishes, clean the table and other small things and go to my room.

Ashton pov

I go up to my room. I was feeling awful today and I had no idea why.

I took the thermometer and checked my temperature.

It wasn't high. Might be just a headache. I thought to myself and laid down on the bed. Hoping to feel better tomorrow as I don't wanna ruin a day with Sophie in which I don't have people dying or living depending on me or my decisions.
