Sofi was very uneasy on Monday morning because she still does not know anything about the new CEO. She scrolled down his Linkedin profile for the umpteenth time that morning.

'Dare Madaki, Senior VP at Redrock Investment, London'

As in! He is very much qualified for the position. There were small talks around the office that he is a small boy lol, SVP at the biggest investment Bank abi Asset management firm in the world is a not small boy, people move from roles like that to CEO of fortune 500 companies. 

She scrolled through his Elite education again; BA Econs & Management from Said Business School at Oxford, MIT Sloan MBA, CFA, CPA, CMA, ACCA. Kilode! Where did Chief see this one from like this?

She supposed he probably accepted the job because of all the Brexit wahala in the UK. She did not know much about the whole brexit thing but she knew many people and companies were leaving the UK because of it, or is he just one of those Nigerians that wake up and decide to move back to Nigeria? probably move back to be with his wife and kids? She tried to estimate his age using the graduation years but she gave up because there were too many paragraphs on his education history.

You see ehhn, no one will tell you this but in the corporate world, especially in a Nigerian Company you have to know more than what you see on the CV about the person you will be working with especially one you will be reporting to directly.
You have to know the person's leadership style, personality traits, what triggers them, how to score points with them, heck even zodiac sign will help her right now but she couldn't find anything.

She was not scared or anything she could handle any kind of leader even the most tyrannical boss but, she hates surprises.

In fact, what alarms her the most about him is, over the weekend, she ran him through her detectives since she got his full name from Amanda. She asked her cousins about him both the ones in Jand and yankee since he schooled in the UK and US but she couldn't get any major tea on him. Nothing. They only gave her what she already found on the internet. The guy is like a phantom, not even a picture of him on his linkedin profile or Internet.

She was distracted from her thoughts as Ada barged into her office. "He is here!" Ada whisper-screamed excitedly then grabbed one candy from the glass bowl on Sofi's table before running off. Probably to go inform others.

Ada is Chief's secretary so now she is going to be the new CEO's Secretary. She was a new Staff that joined the Company just last year after serving with them. Ada is her only amebo partner in the office and she brings her alot of tea from all the other departments.

Ada and the other (younger) Staff were a little bit excited about the change in Leadership. They were happy because the new CEO is a younger guy. They had daydreams of working virtually from home, dressing down, and getting sleep pods or snooker tables like all those modern tech companies led by millennials.

Sofi on the other hand was conflicted unlike the rest because she was used to Chief and she is Chiefs Boy for life mehhn.

She couldn't wait for him to fill the HR employee forms so she could see all his personal info since it will pass through her to process. She smiled wickedly at the thought as she stood up to go welcome him. Power is sweet.

The CEO's office was completely different now. An Interior design company renovated it over the weekend, she knows this because she issued the payment to the Company.

The office looked way too empty for the crazy amount of money they paid for the job. it looked like they just took out stuff and painted it black. Not that she has problem with the black cold office it was very modern and chic but was too expensive jarey. These Interior designers sef.

He was sitting and typing something on a matte black MacBook, eyebrows furrowed.
He was wearing a Navy blue suit that was almost black. You had to look closely to see that it was navy blue. He looked like he was pissed.

"Good Morning Mr. Madaki" She said in her most professional and firm tone.

He didn't look up. She repeated herself again. Still nothing.

na wa o, what is this one again? She thought to herself. She contemplated leaving; maybe he does not like disturbances....But Ada let her in naw.

Suddenly he looked up, surprise written all over his face, his fingers stopped typing and he took out Airpods from his ears.

No wonder he did not hear her!

His undivided attention and eyes were now on her completely and she almost fainted.

Almost fainted because he was drop dead gorgeous. Like those dark skinned runway models or those models for Men's fragrance. The office was a little bit dim but the light from his laptop illuminated his face. Sharp Jawline, deep pink lips, sultry and haunting eyes.

His hair was cut very low and his brows were wild, untamed, and thick. He had clean stubble beard (Lagos beard gang members just left the chat). He looked hott but gave off a cold vibes at same time.

She suddenly came back to her senses when he raised an eyebrow and the look on his face  went from 'Yes?' to 'WTF do you want?'

"Errm" Shit she was nervous!

"Good morning Sir, my name is Ireti Sophie Sani, Head of Admin" She moved closer to his table with extended hand then he stood up and took her hand, still no readable emotion on his face. However, she was distracted by his height; he was tall, definitely over 6ft.

Jesus Christ! How can he possess such elite education, elite work experience, and be fine on top? How is this fair? This life no balance at all!

"Everyone calls me Sofi by the way...urm it's my middle name," she added smiling nervously.

She wondered where the jitters came from. When she walked through that door, she was ready to kick ass. She is Chief's Boy after all no one can oppress her here, so why was she nervous? She blamed the anxiety on the new dark marble floor which looked slippery.

"Welcome to aboard" She smiled again and added confidently. "We look forward to working with you"

"Thank You" he released her hand then sat down.

She passed the security documents to him. "Mr. Bakare asked me hand this over to you"

"Thank you. Please arrange for a meeting with the CFO and COO for 4pm, Ada said you're responsible for that right?" He said as his eyes went back to the laptop screen. He had a soft and deep voice, it was very assertive but not commanding. It sounded like he was masking his British accent but some of it escaped. 

Damn!

"Mr. Obaze is based in in Port Harcourt do you want him to fly in or join virtually" She asked.

"He is already on a flight to Lagos, just prepare the meeting room" He said as he resumed his typing.

"Oh,.... okay, sure I'll fix it." She said. "If you need any other thing please let me know"

"Okay" He nodded eyes still on the laptop.

She stood there waiting for a while before she realized he was done with her and she was being awkward standing there like a clown, forgetting this is not Chief.

She quickly stepped back and walked towards the door.

Okay! It's early to judge his character but why does he kind of give off "mean boss" energy. She thought as she quickly reached for the door, the distance between his table and the door seemed to be extending.

"Ms Ireti" He called her by her first name. She almost didn't answer because no on calls her that here she has even forgotten that's her name.

She caught her breath and turned around. Hand on the door handle for support because her legs felt like they were about to betray her. His face was still on his laptop.

"Mr. Bakare forwarded the financial statements for the last 5 years to me, so I have those"

Tap...Tap...Tap.

"But I don't have the statements for the first quarter of this year; do you people at least have a draft I can work with?"

Tap......tap......tap

"Yes, Chief signed it off last week" She said trying to sound firm like him but her ears heard the voice of a cat, being strangled. She wanted to die of embarrassment inside.

Silence. He continued typing for about 5 seconds then he finally looked up at her and said.

"Send to my email ASAP"

"Okay Sir" She nodded.
