I ran into him again, this time around everything within appears to come to a halt. It was as if time stopped and everything in the world became suspended until there was nothing.
Nothing, but both of us existed.

"Hey, I'm sorry!" I said.

"it's okay," he replied.

Then his gaze trailed from my face as he slowly appraised me. After what seemed like an eternity- when in reality it was only a few seconds, his eyes met mine once again.

"You must be the new girl " yea; obviously. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
"Have you ever been in jail? it must be a crime to look this beautiful." He said with a dimpled smile.

"I giggled" Ah!

"Thank you. You're not so bad yourself, " I said when I got my mirth under control.

"I'm sorry about what happened on your first day at school. I didn't have the chance to say I was sorry." His eyes didn't stray from mine even as he apologized for what happened in school that day and. . . wow.

That's a first for me. A guy apologizing for a something that wasn't even intentional. This guy just keeps surprising me each time we meet.

"You don't have to", I said. "Apologize, I mean. It was an accident, but thank you though. "

"You're welcome. By the way, I'm Kaylee"
Kaylee held out his right hand towards me.

"I'm So..phia," I said stuttered as his hand warm hands clasped mine in a brief handshake.

"Kaylee," I tested the sound on my lips and found that I liked it. "

"Sophia." He flashed me that heart-stopping smile once again as he uttered my name. "A beautiful name for a beautiful girl like you."
"Flattery will get you everywhere."

"Somewhere like where?" His fingers danced across my lower lip as his eyes bore into mine in a heated stare. Gosh!

Several butterflies unleashed themselves in my belly and made my head swim with only one thought.

Yes! Kiss me, please!

Only that it happened the other way around.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, stood on my tippy toes and pressed my mouth to his. Fireworks went off behind my eyes. It felt like the fourth of July where everything was bright with colors and happiness. My toes tingled with the-

"Sophia, are you okay? You spaced out on me." Kaylee's brows were furrowed with concern.

"Huh. . . I'm fine. . .. Fine. I was just thinking. . . just thinking. . . I'm okay."

Well, done Sophia. Not only are you fantasizing about this guy you just met, but you made a complete fool out of yourself. And now he's going to think I am some weirdo.

I face palmed myself mentally.

Just as I opened my mouth to apologize once again - anything to diffuse the weird look he was giving me - a group of guys seemed to materialize out of nowhere and one of them waved Kaylee over to them.

"Hey, Kaylee! come over here, dude. We have to get going now or we're never going to make it to the gym on time."

"Be right there," Kaylee called back. He turned to me. "Sorry I have to go now." He seemed reluctant to leave, but I knew he couldn't stay.
Besides, he needed to leave before I embarrassed myself further than I already did.

'Ditto," I responded without meeting his gaze...
"See you around." He muttered before running to meet the boys, while I found my way back to the girls spot immediately.
And if I turn to catch one last glimpse of him, well, no one had to know.
