Still Here - Chibs

Description: Weird paranormal things start to happen in the clubhouse shortly after Jax's funeral. Luckily for the club, Chibs's old lady runs a paranormal investigation team.

We were all hanging out in the clubhouse. Life was settling down finally after Jax passed and his funeral was held. Rat was tending bar while Chibs and Happy played pool. Tig was napping on the couch with his dog and Quinn sat a few bar stools down from me. Since it was only a Tuesday, we were all just relaxing and trying to regroup. The rest of the brothers had headed out already. The numbers were low, lower than I'd ever seen them before.

Rat was talking to Quinn and I softly about something when a bottle flew off the middle shelf of the bar. Rat jumped and yelled a little. I immediately jumped into action. Investigating paranormal things is how I make my money, so I was instantly intrigued.

"What was that?" Happy asked. He didn't like being spooked.

"Bottle of Whiskey just fell off the shelf," Rat said. Chibs was looking at the wall.

"Bobby's choice," he said with a smile.

I nodded as Rat cleaned it up.

"Guys, wanna clear out and I'll get my team in here. My guess is it's just your brothers wanting attention," I said.

"Sure thing lass," Chibs said. He walked over and kissed me gently.

"I'd love to but I kinda live here," Quinn said.

"You can stay with Chibs and I," I said. "You and Chibs go home. There's leftovers in the fridge and beer in the garage."

They both nodded and cleared out as Rat got the task of waking Tig.

Within the hour my team was showing up and getting things set up.

"Alright y'all," I said gaining the attention of the six in front of me. "You all know what this place is. If it's haunted, be respectful. The boys would have an issue with outsiders in their home. I'll take the chapel alone. Everyone else pair up and spread out. I want someone to check out the garage too. Hap unlocked it before he left. Be safe. The guys wouldn't hurt you but God only knows what kind of demons are in here."

The whole team nodded and split off to see what they could find. I walked into the clubhouse ahead of everyone else. Normally I was insistent on no one being alone, but I wasn't about to let outsiders into the chapel. I walked in and shut the door behind me in attempt to minimize noise interference. I sat down at the head of the table and turned on a recording device. I knew there was cameras covering the whole of the building too so I set to work.

I wasn't getting anywhere with just the audio recordings so I grabbed a phonetic generator from my bag and set it up, hoping that would help. I asked questions and got nothing for a long while.

"Sons," I said after a while. "Are you still here with us?"

The machine spit out the word Church. I froze.

"Do you still go to church with the guys?"

The machine proceeded to give up the words President and lady.

"Yeah," I said softly as my eyes watered. "I'm the presidents old lady."

I got a few more responses, but ultimately everything died back down and about four in the morning we called it a night. We packed everything up and agreed to meet at the office at noon tomorrow to go through the evidence.

When I got home, I immediately headed for our bedroom as quietly as I could. I didn't want to wake Quinn. I'd tell everyone about all that we found next week at Church. For now, I wanted to talk to Chibs.

I showered quickly before throwing on one of Chibs shirts and some shorts. I crawled into bed next to him and he shifted in his sleep.

"Did you talk to 'em love?"

"Yeah, someone," I said. "Didn't get a name but they still go to church with you all. They knew I was the presidents old lady too."

"That's good baby," he said, pulling me into his arms.

"Teams meeting up at noon to go over stuff," I said. He nodded a little but he was pretty much asleep again already.

When my alarm went off at 10:30, the bed was empty. I got up and ready for the day before making myself some coffee and getting a bowl of cereal for breakfast. I made two travel mugs and headed out, figuring I'd stop at the garage on my way into work.

I pulled into the lot and was greeted by my old mans smiling face and the constant glare of his SA.

"Figured you could use some coffee," I said. Chibs kissed me quickly before he took the mug.

"Thanks doll," he said. I nodded a little and hugged him. We talked for a few minutes before I was saying goodbye and heading out.

At the office, six of us spent all afternoon going through footage. The other unfortunate person was on scheduling, booking us to investigate houses and hauntings in the Charming area.

We found a little more evidence, just some basic EVPs. One was really interesting to me though. One of the other females had introduced herself and there was a faint voice responding with "hello darlin'." The cadence was perfect to the way Jax used to say it. I couldn't shake the feeling.

The other EVP that really stood out to me was one that sounded like crying. It was coming from the kitchen, but there was no one in there. I wondered if maybe one of our guys had finally realized emotions weren't so bad. Then again, I wondered if maybe it was Luann or another old lady who'd been taken too soon by the club lifestyle.

The following week at Church, I told the guys about my experiences and all the EVPs we caught. They were all thrilled that the noises and random things being moved was just their brothers hanging around a little longer.

When church was over, a few of us were just hanging out still. Chibs and I were shooting pool while Happy worked on a tattoo design I'd asked him for. Tig and Venus were sharing the couch with Tig's dog and Rat was behind the bar. Quinn had disappeared with the rest of the brothers saying he was going for a ride because he needed some air.

It was pretty silent as we all made small talk and drank our beers. When there was a lull in conversation, the radio kicked on playing an old Elvis song.

"We get it Bobby," Happy said. "You're still here."

The music died.

"I'd offer to do a cleansing but that wouldn't be right," I said. The guys all shook their heads.

"I've got a medium friend, want me to see if maybe we can help them cross over?" I suggested.

"As long as they don't start causing trouble, we should be fine," Chibs said.

The lights flickered and came right back on causing everyone to laugh at the brothers antics. I think it relieved us all to know that our family who had passed on was still very much here with us, even when we couldn't see them.
