Samcro Rehab - Happy
Description: Jax's younger sister has to get a hang around off of crank and Happy shows up with a brother's brother to get him clean too.
"Hey, we need you," Jax said. I looked at him over my glasses and he just crossed his arms.
"What now?"
"SAMCRO rehab," he said. "Cabin. Two guys. Hap's bringing the second down from Tacoma."
"Gonna need some stuff," I said. "My lockdown bags in my car so you get me bud and groceries and I can head out."
He nodded and sat an envelope down.
"Half now half after," he said. I nodded and he walked out of the office.
After a while Chucky came in with the prospect.
"Uh, Jax said you were leaving," Chucky said. I nodded and handed him the stuff.
"Here," I said. "I have to take care of some stuff for him. You know what's going on."
He nodded and the prospect followed me out.
"You going with me?" I asked.
"Just til Hap gets down," he said.
"I'm glad it was you Phil," I said. He smiled a little.
"Little sis," Jax said. He handed me a bag and I hugged him taking the groceries to the car.
I headed off to the cabin and Phil followed behind me in a van.
When we got there I headed in and unpacked. I figured with two detoxes we'd need both rooms for that and Hap and I would be sleeping on the couch.
I unpacked the groceries and Phil carried a passed out junkie into the bedroom.
"Who was that?" I asked as he walked back out.
"Friend of the club," he said and shrugged. I rolled my eyes a little and headed into the room. I took the man's shoes off and threw a blanket over him as he shivered.
"This is gonna be a long couple weeks," I said to Phil.
He just nodded and sat down on the couch.
I sat down near him and started talking to him as we waited for Happy to get here.
The junkie started screaming in the other room and I jumped up.
"Roll a joint," I said, nodding to the weed my brother had sent with me. Phil just stared at me.
"You don't smoke," I said. He just shook his head. I wiped my eyes and went in to check on our detoxee.
"What's your name?" I asked. He just shivered and I rolled my eyes.
"I'm gonna get you a joint. It'll help with the pain," I said. "You didn't get a wake up this morning."
He shook his head. I just nodded. Phil was standing in the doorway watching when a car pulled up.
"Go see if that's Hap," I said. He ran off and I sat down on the bed.
"What's your name?"
"Alex," he said. I nodded.
"Well Alex," I said. "I'm gonna get you through this. It's not gonna be fun and it's not gonna be pretty."
There was some commotion as Phil carried someone else into the other bedroom.
"Here," Happy said a few minutes later as he walked in with a joint.
"Thanks," I said, smiling at him as I lit it and helped Alex sit up and smoke some.
After a while, I'd gotten Alex to sleep some more and I returned to the living room.
"Who do you have?" I asked.
"Donut's little brother," he said. I nodded as I sat down next to him and took the joint he offered to me. I hit it a few times and handed it back.
We sat and smoked, just catching up before I had to start some soup for our detoxees and he went to check on them. He came out after the first room and got a bowl of water and a towel. I just nodded and he went back to the room. I headed to check on Alex.
He looked like he was sweating so I peeled the blanket back so he didn't soak it and wiped his head down with a cool rag before placing a rag on each wrist and his neck. I went to the closet and counted three extra sets of sheets for each of the beds. Luckily there was a washer up here cause sheets were going to be soaked here soon.
I went back to check on their dinner as Happy walked out.
"How've you been doll?" He asked, kissing my shoulder.
I knew I was his weakness, but we both agreed to not being in a relationship while he was Nomad.
"Missed you," I said. "And just SAMCRO shit piling up."
"I know," he said. "I've been thinking about transferring. Back to Charming. It's close enough to Bakersfield and Clay understands."
I nodded. He'd gone Nomad so he could be closer to his mother who was getting older and wasn't doing the best.
We fed them dinner and got them each to smoke a little more. At least when they were high they weren't complaining about the pain.
Happy and I sat down on the couch and talked more. I was the only person he opened up to like this. It's been just the two of us since I met him when I was 19 and he was just visiting Charming for the first time since patching SAMTAC.
Shortly before 10 pm we went to check on them again. Sure enough, Alex had managed to piss himself and sleep through it. Happy told me he'd clean up and I went to check on Donut's brother. Donut was a long time member of SAMTAC, having patched in at 20. His brother looked sick. I felt terrible that he was going through this. Donut's got a lot on his plate without this. That's probably why SAMTAC is handling this.
I changed the cool cloths on his wrists and neck, but he was shivering, so I pulled a blanket back over him and let him stay like that. He was definitely running a fever so in a few minutes I'd have to put the cool rags back onto his body, but he wasn't going to freeze on my watch.
Happy finished up and came to check on me. I'd stayed in the room to make sure he got warmed back up and then placed some cool rags on his wrists and neck but left him under the blanket.
"Started the washer. Dishes are done. You should sleep," he said. I shook my head as I stood up and walked out with him.
"He's just a kid," I said. The guy couldn't have been more than 22.
Happy just nodded and rubbed my back as we returned to the couch.
"You get some sleep. I'll take first watch," he said.
"Thanks Hap," I said. I curled up on my side and laid my head in his lap. He spoke to me softly, telling me stories about his Ma. Around me, the killer faded to the background and he got to just be Happy. That's what made me love him.
