Owe Him a Thank You - Quinn

Description: Jax's sister is a singer/songwriter who Gemma roped into playing the Taste of Charming Fundraiser. Problem is her ex old man, shows up at the show looking to start over.

"(Y/N)," my mother said as I walked up to her. "Your booth was supposed to open 20 minutes ago."

"Sorry, sound check ran long," I said. "You want me there til 10 before we go on, I needed to do that."

I kissed her cheek as she swatted my arm and pointed to my booth. Luckily it was just a merch booth with a promise of autographs and pictures.

I walked over and started to sell my merch alongside my manager and guitar player. They were both angels sent to earth I swear. I took a million pictures and signed things as fast as my fans were buying them.

A few hours passed before things died down. I grabbed a cold water bottle and chugged it as I listened to my manager. She was talking to me about the show tonight. It was for charity. My mother had begged me to do a show tonight for her Taste of Charming fundraiser. Luckily we were finishing up a tour so after tonight I'd be off for a bit to relax and try and write more music before I reported back to Nashville in two months.

I heard someone clear their throat so I turned to face them.

"Jackson," I yelled a bit louder than intended. He pulled me into a hug the second I got around the table.

"Hey little sis," he said. "You're an aunt."

"I heard. We'll go tomorrow to meet him. Mom threatened my ass if I leave."

He nodded and chuckled as he handed me a shirt. My senior class shirt I'd requested for the show tonight. It's been six years since I graduated from Charming High School, but I think it should still fit.

"Thanks," I said.

"You're needed. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Excited to see your show tonight," he said.

"Thanks," I said again. "Hey, is he-?"

"No, he's Nomad President right now," he said. I nodded and Jax gave me a sad smile.

Jax walked off and I headed off to sign more autographs.

A couple hours later I was dressed in some skinny jeans, ankle booties, and my Charming High School shirt. I was about to play my songs in front of my hometown. My band was standing around me talking to me as we got our in-ears on and set up. We were relaxed since tonight was the last show.

They headed out and started playing, giving me about five seconds before my cue.

We played the first song and when we finished people were cheering.

"Hey y'all," I said. "I'm (Y/N) Teller and six years ago I graduated from Charming High. It's my honor to be playing for y'all tonight to raise money for the school."

Everyone was cheering as the second song started. We played about four songs before taking a little breather. I could tell the Sons were here and I was thrilled. They were my biggest supporters.

"How are we feeling tonight Charming?" I asked. More cheers went up as I smiled a little. Someone yelled that they loved me earning a small giggle and a return of the words.

"This next song is about growing up here in Charming," I said. "It's one of the first songs I ever wrote, granted the first version wasn't as good as what you're about to hear."

The band started the song and we played it and a few more.

"This next song holds a dear place in my heart. My Uncle is an Elvis impersonator so he's one of the people that really got me into music. This next song was the first song I ever sang in front of people during our karaoke nights," I said. The band started to play "Can't Help Falling in Love."

We were nearing the end of the set when I saw a giant of a man join the Sons near the right hand side of the stage. It had to be Rane.

I rolled my eyes a bit at my guitar player and he gave me a weird look. I nodded to the group of men and he didn't understand. I just shook my head. I'd explain later.

"Alright y'all we're gonna slow it down for the next one. This song I wrote about my first real heart break," I said. "It's also the one that got me a record deal, so I guess I owe him a thank you."

We played that song and one more.

"Okay y'all," I said into the mic. "I want to play one last song for ya. If that's okay with y'all." I paused as everyone cheered. "Good good, but first, thanks for letting us play tonight and for being one of the best crowds."

We played the last song and we headed off stage.

"What was that out there?" Alex my guitar player said.

"The guy that song's about is here," I said. He shook his head as I downed the water my manger handed me.

"You gonna be okay?" My manager asked as we were packing up. I nodded a bit as I handed my equipment off to the techs.

"My step dad and brother won't let anything happen," I said. She agreed and we headed out. I broke off when we passed my brother.

"Hey man," I said.

"You're amazing," he said. All of the Sons were cheering for me.

"How long are you home for baby?" Tig asked as his arm was around my shoulders.

"Two months. I've been trying to get to record in LA, but makin country music is hard to do in California."

He nodded as Clay returned with Rane.

"Hey you owe me something," he said with a smirk.

"Thanks for crushing my whole being and propelling me into a music career," I said with a smile.

"Can we talk?" He asked. I agreed and we walked a bit slower than everyone else as we headed to the lot.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"I'm over it," I said with a shrug.

"I'm not," he said. "You're my girl."

"You lost that right Rane," I said.

"Still got your ink?" He asked. I nodded. "Then I didn't."

"You walked out on me," I said.

"I'm sorry for that."

"You apologized already. It's trust that I don't have," I said.

"I know," he said. "I'd like to have you again. I've missed you. And wow I'm so proud of you."

"Rane you can't just waltz back into my life because it's convenient now," I said.

"I'm not trying to. Just didn't feel right to do this on the phone. If you've moved on I understand."

"That's the problem Rane," I said. "I haven't."

We were standing by his bike as a couple of the guys stood about ten feet away smoking and watching us.

"Can I take you out?" He asked. "Start over again?"

"I'm only in town a couple months," I said.

"We'll make it work," he said. I nodded and smiled some.

"Want a ride to the clubhouse?" He asked.

"Yeah I could use a drink," I said.

"Thank you babe," he said.

"Don't thank me yet."
