Is This Okay? Part 1 - Opie
Description: When Opie transfers high schools, Mary begs him to join a club so he works building the sets of the school musical to get close to the lead. In part 2, they reconnect after Opie loses his first wife.
As I finished the last line of Hopelessly Devoted I opened my eyes, jumping a little at the person in the doorway. New kid Opie Winston was leaning in the doorframe watching me practice.
"You're amazing," he said. "Trying out for Sandy?"
"Who else would I play?" I asked a bit sarcastically.
"Rizzo, Frenchie, I don't remember the others," he said. I smiled softly.
"Well I'm striving for Sandy," I said.
"I don't believe we've been formerly introduced. I'm Opie Winston," he said.
"I'm (Y/N)," I said.
"You really were amazing," he said.
"Thank you," I said.
"I've gotta get going I'm headed to my dads for the weekend, but it was nice meeting you," he said.
"You too Opie," I said.
A few weeks later, much to my shock, Opie Winston walked into theater rehearsal.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, walking over to him. We've had a few conversations here and there but never anything much.
"Mom said I needed to join something and since all I really care about is motorcycles and building shit, I'm here to help with set stuff," he said.
"Nice," I said.
"Congrats on getting Sandy," he said.
"Thanks," I said.
"You're welcome," he said and I nodded before he headed over to the teacher who was in charge of production.
By the weekend before opening night, Opie and I were all but inseparable. He'd started giving me rides home from rehearsals and he had taken to helping me run lines. I was impressed and thankful to say the least.
"Are you ready?" Opie asked as we were walking out of rehearsal on the Saturday before opening night.
"I think so," I said. "Thanks to you."
"Nah, you're just talented," he said. As we walked towards the pickup truck he drove, some blonde kid pushed off of it and walked towards us.
"Opie," he yelled.
"Jax," Opie responded. Ah, the infamous Jax Teller.
"I couldn't believe the stories man I had to come see it for myself," Jax said.
"Well this is (Y/N)," Opie said.
"How ya doin' darlin'," he said.
"It's nice to meet you Jax," I said with a smile.
"He really join theater?" Jax asked.
"Not quite. He's done great work on the set though," I said.
"Well," Jax said. "I hate to break up your date but I really need Opie to myself for a second."
"That's fine. I'll walk home," I said.
"You can wait," Opie said. "It won't take long."
"I'm fine with walking," I said. "I could use the fresh air to settle my nerves."
Opie just nodded and I headed off towards home while thinking about Opie. There was a lot I didn't know about him, but I wanted to. I wanted to know everything. Including what Jax wanted. Opie had told me about Charming and everyone there, even his ex Donna who had wanted to stay together but he had broken up with because of the distance and his only being back there every couple of weekends.
Later that night, Opie showed up at my house asking if we could talk. My parents had gone out to dinner with some friends so I let him in.
"What did Jax want?" I asked. We were sitting on opposite ends of the couch facing one another.
"To talk about the motorcycle club that our dads are in. We're joining when we're old enough. We've got big plans for the club and for Charming," he said.
"So you're going back?" I asked.
"Yeah when Mary lets me out of her grasp. My whole life is there. She just got sick of the MC life style and left my Pops," Opie said.
"So you're going to go back to Jax and Charming?" I said. "And Donna?"
"Is that an issue?" Opie asked.
"No I just thought we had something more is all Ope," I said.
"I don't know what we have but my life is in Charming. Jax wanted me to drop out and prospect in with him the day I turn 18, which I can't do. TM would hire me, and trust me I'd love to work on cars for a living but I need my diploma in case that falls through."
"But the two of you have big plans for Charming? What kind of plans?"
"They're mainly Jax's plans honestly. I'm just here for the looks and the muscle," he said, chuckling a little to himself.
"When are you going back?" I asked.
"The day after graduation," he said. It was a few months away still. I nodded a little.
"I am very much a enjoy life while you can type of man, and right now, I would like to enjoy our time together," Opie said, moving closer to me and placing his hand on my cheek.
"How so Opie?" I asked.
He leaned in and kissed my lips gently.
"Is this okay?" He asked, earning a smile before I pulled him into another kiss.
