Sonicbronyuniversez Review three: Death Note anime
Sonicbronyuniversez walks out onto the screen in the form of a German Shepherd with a ruby in his head
Sonicbronyuniversez: So. I recently finished watching the Death Note anime, at least two years after I started watching it. Let'stalk about it.
Sonic and the black knight with me plays during the intro, with the lyrics starting when the clips are shown, with one verse playing in between clips
Sonic homing attacks shadow in Sonic adventure two and then Steven from Steven Universe is seen sacrificing himself to Aquamarine. Sonicbronyuniversez is seen bashing The Hero from The amazing world of Gumball and then he's seen praising the episode known as The Choices. Ash is seen in a battle with Alain in the Pokemon XY anime as Greninja blocks Charizard's Thunder punches by using his Water shuriken as a sword. Twilight is seen blasting Tirek into the floor and then Kion is shown using the roar of the elders in anger against Janja in Never roar again. Dipper and Male Pines from Gravity Falls are seen doing their awkward sibling hug. Aang from Avatar the last airbender is seen battling the fire lord and then Korra from the sequel series, The Legend of Korra, is shown to be doing some probending. Weed from Ginga Densetsu Weed is seen using the Zetsu Tenrou Battouga on Hougen just as Goku appears on the sceeen. Goku turns Super Saiyan blue and gets into his famous pose when going up against Frieza in Resurrection F as the music stops as soon as Goku says his next line.
Goku: Don't blame me if I break you.
The original Death Note intro is shown as Sonicbronyuniversez prepares to talk about it.
Sonicbronyuniversez slashes the screen in half after about fifteen seconds of intro time
Sonicbronyuniversez: Holy crap was this an intense anime. And it didn't even have any fantasy elements in it. Of course it's not mandatory to have intensity in something, but it's still a thing. Anyway, when I first heard this anime existed, I was watching a WatchMojo video to see how much crap it would be. Hell, I didn't even know it existed when I saw Smosh's parody of it. So I decided to give it a watch, and after two or three years of viewing the first episode, I finally wrapped it up and I loved it. And since I just wanted to talk about it so bad, here I am. So take out your (Spawns a Death Note) death notes, and let's review, Death Note.
Sonicbronyuniversez is seen shining his sword as he looks up at the ruby in his head.
Sonicbronyuniversez smiles at the shine of his ruby as the story appears above him.
Sonicbronyuniversez slashes through the picture as he then holds out his death note to talk about the anime's story.
Sonicbronyuniversez: The story of Death Note is that a college Student named Light Yagami lives in Japan and crimes are happening just about everywhere in the city he lives in. One day he finds a mysterious notebook called the Death Note and starts killing all sorts of criminals with it. Now that may sound pretty basic to some, but it's actually really complex. Most people who watched this anime seem to agree with me that it's premise is fucking engaging. It really does bring me hope that I can go to a series and expect it to be really engaging like this. And we'll get to the good stuff we're I'll talk about it some more, so don't you worry.
Sonicbronyuniversez is seen jumping from building to building with a Dalmatian about his age behind him.
The Dalmatian gets caught on a roof ledge and Sonicbronyuniversez offers him his paw.
The Dalmatian smiles and accepts the offering with the camera then panning to Sonic's face.
The characters appears above Sonicbronyuniversez as he then kicks away the clip to talk about the cast.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Now I'm only going to describe four characters in depth, as describing the others would take up a lot of this review. So let's get to it.
The characters are shown as Sonicbronyuniversez start talking about them individually.
Sonicbronyuniversez: For starters, we have Light Yagami, who becomes the being known as Kira after a Death Note mysteriously drops on his school grounds and he uses it to kill criminals. Light's a charming devil, who while I can see why Phantomstrider hates him to no end, I can see much passion and intelligence in. If I had to say who I thought the smartest character in the show is, it'd be Light. I may make a video ont hat later on. Anyway, then there's L, who's not quite as charming as Light, but is someone I can say is an accurate portrayal of a genius. He's a weird and socially awkward individual, but still manages to have personality in his own way. Though, his death wasn't as emotional as I'd hoped. Then there's Ryuk, who drops his death note for a pretty stupid reason I might at, and enjoys watching Light kill criminals just for funzies. While I do still think Ryuk's reason is dumb, he's still pretty funny when he needs to be. Same with Near, who's made to be emotionless, but shows to actually be as smart as L, if not even smarter. I know he says in the last episode that he can't surpass L without Mello, but he did do most of the work, so Near has every right to brag, even if he has that coldness in his emotionless heart.
The other characters are shown as Sonicbronyuniversez discusses them one by one.
Sonicbronyuniversez: First off there's Misa Amane, who's fuckin adorable, the Spk who aren't the most engaging, but none of them are anywhere near infuriating. I like Matsuda by the way; his final moment was awesome. Gave me an idea for what should've happened (Chase is shown choking Rocky in Adventure Bay: Return To The Park) to a physically autistic asshole. I'll get to you eventually you spike full of crap! Anyway, then there's L's second student that I mentioned before, Mello, who's fun in his own way, and has a pretty good rivalry with Near. Next we have Takada, who's Light's old girlfriend. That details not as necessary as you'd expect. Anyway, last we have Mikami, who gets a crazy insanity boost right the shitting hell out of nowhere in the end. Don't even ask me where it came from, but I love it.
Sonicbronyuniversez is shown as he speaks some more about the characters.
Sonicbronyuniversez: So that's just about every character really. They all have their quirks, aside from Light, who's still best character to me, and are all genuinely charming in their own rights. So let's go onto what I love about this anime.
Sonicbronyuniversez is seen eating a triple bacon cheeseburger with his butt in the direction of the audience as he wags his tail.
The good stuff is shown above Sonicbronyuniversez as he bites into his triple bacon cheeseburger.
Sonicbronyuniversez blasts the screen with a Kamehameha as he prepares to talk about the good stuff in Death Note.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Well it's been a while since I've been able to say that the best part about the anime is the plot. Forgive me for ripping off EyeofSol a bit here, but the story of this anime really is intriguing to the bitter end. Although I'm not into religion, there's just something so intriguing to me about playing with life and death, choosing which people die before their intended demise and who live until their fate is sealed. It's some powerful stuff when you think about it. I also like how the series uses guns, as it suits the police organization trope they use. Don't get me wrong; I'm more than up for a good Ki blast here and their, but it's nice to see a series that doesn't deny the power a gun can have. And yeah, I know a lot of people say that the series got worse in the second half, but honestly, I like Near better than L. I love them both, but I just fucking love the emotionless Near can give, and yet he can still be a manipulative little shit as seen in the end. It's just so interesting to me to see him in action. But alas, there's but one bad thing I must discuss.
Sonicbronyuniversez is finished with his triple bacon cheeseburger as he feels his stomach growl, giving him a good hint at the feeling the cheeseburger gave to him.
Sonicbronyuniversez looks back at the audience with a smirk as he releases a five second cheeseburger fart, hitting the audience with a green cloud (pfffffffffft).
The bad stuff is shown in Sonicbronyuniversez's fart cloud as Sonicbronyuniversez then clears out the fart cloud with an air shot as he prepares to talk about the bad things
Sonicbronyuniversez: Now there's only one thing that really brings this series back, so I'll just get it out of the way. (Closes the book) Fucking, (Looks at the screen) Near. (Clips of Near are shown) Not the character himself, but more or less why he was brought in to begin with. I get that L dying shows how smart Light is and how capable he is at getting what he wants, but if there was a smarter version of L the whole time then it just makes L's excistence pointless. (A clip of L using Misa's phone is shown) Which is a shame since he's so interesting, and could've lasted a little longer.
Sonicbronyuniversez shoves the clip aside and then gets ready to move on.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Now then. Since we got that out of the way, let's go onto my least favorite and favorite episodes.
Weed from Ginga Densetsu Weed is shown attempting suicide while people outside are harrassing him for not killing as the words least favorite episode appear above his head.
Sonicbronyuniversez kicks the scene out of the way and walks onto the screen as he speaks.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Yep, I went there Weed haters. (Stops) Bite my ass. Anyway, my least favorite episode, though not a bad one, is episode 34: Scorn.
Clips from Scorn are shown as Sonicbronyuniversez discusses it.
Sonicbronyuniversez: In this episode, Misa meets up with Takada to try and win Light over by using Kira as threats and all that crap. Meanwhile the actual story of the show is going on and is much more interesting, while also making me give a crap, or a diarrhea, whichever comes first; I really don't care. The reason this episode is my least favorite is because of the Misa and Takada plot. I don't give a crap about who gets Light in the end; there's important shit going on right now. I don't hate the episode, hell, you'd have to TRY to make me hate anything in this show. I just found it underwhelming.
Weed stops his suicide attempt with a confident look on his face as his fans become shocked with the words favorite episode appearing above his head.
Sonicbronyuniversez is shown to be clapping as he then says what his favorite episode is.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Now believe it or not, this slot is actually a combination of two episodes that're connected. Those episodes, are Silence, and Renewal.
Clips from Silence and Renewal are shown as Sonicbronyuniversez talks about them.
Sonicbronyuniversez: In the first of these episodes, Light ends up killing L and gets much closer to succeeding at his goal at creating a new world with him as the god of it, and the next one has the first half recapping what's happened, and the second half gives insight as to who Light will be facing next. I love these episodes purely for their concept alone. The way they wrap up the first arc and have the second one come out is brilliant. It all comes together amazingly and I can't love it enough.
Sonicbronyuniversez is standing on the metal ledge of a building as he looks at the audience.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Death Note is an amazing series that plays a chess game of intelligence and luck like no other anime ever has before. But, (Puts hands up) don't quote me on that; I haven't seen No Game No Life yet. (Puts hands down) I might though. Anyway, this is an anime that I can most certainly recommend to anyone who's a fan of anime, and especially if they're a fan of detective stories. Hell, I'm not a detective story fan and this intrigued the fuck out of me.
Sonicbronyuniversez is shown to be diving down from a building as he then lands perfectly with his feet and front paws on the ground.
Sonicbronyuniversez: I give, (Looks at the audience with head up) Death Note.
Sonicbronyuniversez is shown to be walking around as he passes by Light Yagami and senses a Shinigami by him.
Light sees Sonicbronyuniversez and opens up the death note, preparing for his move.
The pages of the death note are shown with nine names being written on one page with a diamond by each one; don't question it.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Nine diamonds out of ten.
Sonicbronyuniversez is sitting in the Spk office as he wraps up his thoughts.
Sonicbronyuniversez: So, yeah. Death Note. Is it watchable? Well, despite it not being a fantasy like anime where everyone's moving around at lightspeed, the animation is fantastic, so I can say yes. Is it enjoyable? I don't know; does this review exist? Is it memorable? Hell yeah it is! People remember it to this day, and it's even talked about in reviews and countdowns of all kinds. It'd be a crime to say it's NOT memorable.
Sonicbronyuniversez then shot the screen down and kicked it away as he looked at the audience.
Sonicbronyuniversez: Hey dudes; just wanted to let you know that I decided to start doing video game reviews, starting with the Spyro trilogy off of Reignited. If you're interested then feel free to check it out when the first chapter's up. They'll be handled differently from my cartoon reviews but when you see the first one pop up on here, feel free to check it out. (Gives a peace sign) Peace out dudes!
Next review, Spyro the Dragon.
