Chris and Y/n were asleep and were having a dream about images of Shadow around the red Chaos Emerald.

Y/n/Chris: Shadow.

Shadow: It's useless. I made a promise to Maria and I'm keeping it.

Chris: Shadow, getting revenge won't bring Maria back.

Shadow: So what?

Chris: There's still time to stop this, Shadow. Please, you have to listen to me.

Sonic, Y/n and Shadow in their super forms used their power to stop the colony with great difficulty. As they were doing this, they all heard the encouraging words from their friends.

Tails: You can do it, Sonic!

Eggman: Give it all you've got, Shadow!

Chaos: Don't stop now, Y/n!

Rouge: If you fail, the entire planet will be destroyed!

Knuckles: Tough it out, you guys!

Shadow heard Maria's voice.

Maria: Shadow! Those people need you, Shadow.

Shadow: I am Shadow! Shadow the Hedgehog!

Shadow's rings flew off of his wrist and more Chaos Energy emitted from him and at that moment, Y/n remember a brief conversation he had with his father.

Y/n: Father, I've always wondered why you held the people of Mobius if some of them are responsible for nearly wiping out our clan.

F/n: Well, son, even though they did wrong it wouldn't be right to take revenge on them. We prove that we're better. So, I want you to promise me right now that you will never forget that you are Y/n Thunderhog, the hope for the Thunderhog Clan's survival and someone who will help the Mobians.

Y/n: I promise, Father.

Y/n snapped back into reality.

Y/n: And I am Y/n Thunderhog!

Silver lightning surrounded Y/n's body.

Shadow: You both ready?

Y/n: Born ready!

Sonic: You bet! Here we go!

The hedgehogs emitted bright lights of gold and silver as Y/n froz the colony with his lightning.

Shadow: Chaos...

Y/n: Thundering...

Sonic: Control!

Sonic and Shadow shot Chaos Control at the colony which made a bright flash happen.

Chris: Where's Shadow?

Y/n: We couldn't find him after the blast. All we could find were these.

They pulled out their hands which each had one of Shadow's rings.

Chris took the ring Sonic had and a single tear landed on it. Y/n offered his ring to Chris.

Y/n: Wanna complete the set?

Chris: No. I have a feeling if Shadow was here, he would want you to have it.

Y/n: Thank you, Chris.



An alarm went off in both Chris and Y/n's rooms which lead to them waking up.

Chris: What's going on, Tails?

Tails: Chris, come to the bridge right away! I think we found another one.

Chris: Okay, I'll be right there. Man, that sure was a weird dream.

Y/n left his room and ran to the bridge.

Y/n: Ugh, rough night.

He looked at his bracelet from Shadow.

Y/n: Wonder what suddenly made me think of that day?

Chaos: I say we worry about it later, My Lord.

Y/n made it to the bridge with Tails, Helen and Sonic and Chris came not long after.

Tails: Hey, Chris. It's coming from-

They noticed he was looking down.

Sonic: What's up, buddy? You don't look so good.

Chris: Uh, I don't?

Sonic: You're all sweaty.

Helen put a hand on his forehead.

Helen: You don't seem to have a fever.

Chris: Yeah. I'm okay. Weird nightmare.

Y/n: I'm guessing you had a rough night, too.

Chris: Yep.

Sonic: Well, good thing it's over.

Later.

The Blue Typhoon came from a ring portal and appeared over a planet.

Chris: the ship's scanner isn't showing any signs of life below. Maybe the Metarex took this planet egg away, too.

Tails: Wow. If this keeps happening there will be no planets left anywhere in the galaxy. We've gotta stop them somehow and fast.

Chris: You're right.

Tails turned on the scanners.

Tails: The Chaos Emerald is somewhere up ahead in those ruins.

Chris: Yeah, but where exactly?

Tails: There's only one way to find out.

Amy: This will be a cinch, all we have to do is split into two groups.

Y/n: Actually, we need three. We need a group here to guard the Blue Typhoon and the Chaos Emeralds we have. Cosmo, Star, Helen and Chris will check that destroyed spaceship thing. Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and I will check that old castle. Tails, Cream, Cheese and Chaos will stay here with my uncle and guard the ship.

Tails: Okay.

Chris: We'll use our comlinks to stay in contact.

The search groups got off and Y/n's group crossed the bridge to the castle.

Amy: Hey, Y/n, there's something I've been meaning to ask about the Thunderhogs now that we're nearing this castle.

Y/n: What is it?

Amy: Did Thunderhogs ever live in castles?

Y/n: In Medieval Times, we did. But those times are long gone.

Amy: What about that war that nearly wiped all of you out?

Y/n: That cursed war. Nobody even knows what or who started it. All I know is that it wiped out almost all of my brethren.

Sonic cut in between them

Sonic: Hey, let's just get on with the mission.

He grabbed Amy's hand and ran off with her.

Y/n: My, my. Never knew Sonic would be the type to get jealous.

Knuckles: You and me both. By the way, is it true you have a thing for St-

Y/n: Don't you dare finish that sentence.

Knuckles: I'll take that as a yes.

Y/n blushed a little.

Y/n: (blushing) Just don't tell her.

Knuckles: Your secret's save with me, pal.

With Chris' group.

They were in front of what looked to be a broken space colony.

Chris: Looks like this was some kind of space colony.

Cosmo: Until the Metarex came.

Star: I wouldn't be surprised if you told me it was in space just chilling until the Metarex shot it down.

Chris: I wonder how long it's been deserted.

Helen: I'd say, at least two years.

Back with Y/n's group.

Tails: (On call) Amy, have you checked inside that old castle yet? According to my scanner, the Chaos Energy is much stronger in there. I think you should make that the first place you look.

Amy: Good idea, Tails. Y/n-

Y/n: I heard. Come on, guys. We're going in the castle.

They went closer to the castle and they were surrounded by mist.

Y/n: This mist is pretty thick, but luckily it's not messing with our scanners.

Amy: Do we have anything for light?

Y/n: Step back a bit.

They all got behind Y/n and he charged lightning into his hand.

Y/n: It's not perfect, but it's the best I got.

They got into the castle.

Y/n: This is just like those movies where the place is creepier on the inside than on the outside.

Y/n felt something off and looked up at the ceiling.

Y/n: And like those moves, I feel like we're being watched.

Sonic: We all do.

They were in front of two stairways.

Amy: Let's see, my on eerily accurate search instincts are telling me this is the right place to start.

She ran to the left stairway.

Y/n: I say we split up. You guys take the left, I'll take the right.

Knuckles: All right.

They split up.

With Amy's group.

They were walking down an empty hallway until they reached a wooden door.

Amy: Let's see if this opens.

She opened the door that let to a bedroom where the scanner reacted to a door. When Amy opened it, it led to an empty room with no Emerald in sight.

Amy: But, why would it lead us to an empty room.

With Y/n.

Y/n walked into what looked to be a kitchen, he looked at his scanner to see it reacting to the walk in freezer.

Y/n: Let's see if I got it.

Y/n opened the freezer, but didn't see the Emerald, but felt cold air hit him.

Y/n: How is it still this cold without any electricity?

Y/n looked ahead and he was approached by that Metarex that's been following them.

Green Metarex: Why, hello there, my little friend.

Y/n got into a fighting position.

Y/n: A Metarex?!

The Metarex put a hand up.

Green Metarex: There's no need for any of that. I just came to talk.

Y/n: What do you have to say that could possibly be worth my time.

Green Metarex: I have a little advice for you. Quit interfering with our plans.

Y/n: Sorry, that's not gonna happen.

Green Metarex: You and your crew made a mistake coming here in space. I usually try to resolve things peacefully, but I will use Force if I must.

Y/n: Yeah, that sounds great for you. I gotta bounce.

Y/n jumped over the Metarex's head and climbed into the vent.

Y/n: He may have seemed like a strong Metarex, but I don't think he had the Emerald.

Him and Amy looked at their scanners and saw the Chaos Emerald was moving.

Knuckles: That Chaos Emerald is moving.

The spaces they were in began to glow white, so they broke out and all of the met again in a different room.

Amy: Y/n, your back.

Y/n: Hey.

Knuckles: What is this.

Amy: I'm not so sure I really want to know.

Y/n checked his scanner to find there wasn't any type of signal.

Sonic: It disappeared!

Amy: But that's impossible!

Sonic: Unless...

Knuckles: It's some kind of trap.

Y/n: Or at least an illusion.

Sonic: Well, we'll never know until we find out.

They walked through the room and got to a door that they opened to show it lead to a really dark room.

Amy: I don't like this.

Y/n: I'll get us some light.

Y/n charged lightning into his hand again.

With Chris' group.

They were searching inside the old colony with flashlights.

Chris: This must have been the center of the colony's operations.

Cosmo: I'll see if I can find anything over here.

Star: I'll come with.

They walked to where Cosmo pointed, but Cosmo tripped and dropped her flashlight.

Cosmo: That was clumsy.

Star: (slowly shaking her head with a smile) Classic Cosmo.

Cosmo: I'll go get it.

She floated down her flashlight and grabbed it.

Cosmo: There we go.

Chris: You all right down there, Cosmo?

Cosmo: Yes. Everything's okay.

Helen: Do you see anything down there?

Cosmo: I haven't looked yet.

She accidentally pressed a button that played some kind of video.

Back with Y/n's group.

They walked closer into the dark room and saw what looked to be figures coming towards them, until they saw it was just their Reflections in a mirror.

Amy: Just as I thought. They're trying to confuse us, but won't work!

She leaned against the mirror and fell through it.

Sonic: Amy!

They ran through the mirror and fell with the broken shards and landed right back where they started.

Y/n: What?! This is right where we started!

Knuckles: Somebody's playing with us!

Amy: Well, I don't like this game anymore.

They looked up at the ceiling and saw a big eye looking at them.

Knuckles: Sonic, Y/n, I think it's time we got out of here.

Y/n: Took the words out of my mouth.

Sonic: Hang on to me, Amy.

Amy grabbed Sonic and they jumped out a window that brought them to another room. They tried to find a way out, but all the doors led to brick walls.

Knuckles: We're walled in.

Amy: Now what?

With Chris' group.

They were watching a video message.

Messenger: If you are watching this, then you have somehow found a way onto our home planet which was destroyed along with most of its citizens many years ago by evil Metarex monsters. Those of us who survived built this space colony in the hopes that one day we could make contact with others and eventually restore the glory of our planet, but the monsters destroyed it as well. All is lost.

The video began to glitch out.

Messenger: Destroy them, or they will destroy you.

The video ended.

Cosmo: Why did they do it, Chris?

Star: Those Metarex, just monsters that know nothing but destruction.

They walked out of the colony.

Cosmo: How could we be foolish enough to think we could ever defeat them.

Helen: Hey, don't say that, Cosmo. We can defeat them if we put in the work. We've save tons of planets.

Star: Yeah. And Y/n did say at the beginning that there would be risks.

Helen: Chris, what a way in here?

Chris was lost in thought.

Star: Chris?

Chris: Yeah?

Cosmo: You look like you're lost in another world.

Chris: Just thinking about one.

Cosmo: You are?

Helen: It wouldn't happen to be our world, would it?

Chris: Yeah. You know, it's kinda funny. I had a strange dream last night about this guy we used to know named Shadow. When everyone in my world had lost hope, he, Y/n and Sonic made us believe again.

Cosmo: You mean, there's someone else like Sonic and Y/n?

Helen: That's what I heard, but I never actually met Shadow myself.

They got a call from Tails.

Tails: We've got an emergency! I lost them! My link with Amy cut off and I can't get through anymore!

Chris: What's going on?

Cosmo: Guys, the castle!

They looked to see the castle was all wavey. That's how it was on the inside too.

Y/n: Wait, if this castle is just an illusion, then that should mean... Sonic, with me.

Sonic nodded and he and Y/n jumped towards the wall and went right through it outside where they were caught by Chris's plane.

Sonic: Thanks.

Sonic jumped back in to where Knuckles and Amy were.

Sonic: Time to fly, Knuckles.

Knuckles grabbed Amy and jumped out of the castle, too. When they were all out, the castle crumbled into sand which formed two tentacles that wrapped around Sonic and Y/n. Chris shot lasers at the tentacles, but they had no effect.

Y/n: Let go of me!

Y/n shot lightning from his body that broke the tentacle wrapped around him, but Sonic got dragged into the sand.

Chris: Oh, no!

A creepy voice spoke from the sand.

Creepy voice: (maniacal laugh) It appears your friend Sonic has sunk into an entirely new low.

Knuckles: It's talking!

Creepy voice: You meddling fools thought you could destroy us, but in the end it is us who will destroy you!

Y/n: It's some kind of Metarex.

Amy: Sonic!

Chris: Hang on!

Chris flew in to try and save Sonic, but the sand Metarex shot a bunch of sand bullets at Chris. Luckily, Chris was able to shoot out a ring that Sonic grabbed and used to get out of the sand, it was instantly hit with a metal wall that came out of nowhere which made him fall.

Knuckles: I'm coming!

Sonic reached out his hand.

Sonic: Help me!

Knuckles grabbed Sonic's hand and they both began to spin which helped them destroy the wall, but it was instantly repaired.

Knuckles: Who knows what that thing's gonna turn into next.

Y/n: It seems to have a weakness to lightning.

On the Blue Typhoon.

Everyone was charging up the laser.

Cream: Okay, Tails, the laser's are at full power. We've got the target locked.

Tails: Fire the laser in scatter mode.

Cream: Fire!

The laser fired and when it scattered, it hit all sides of the wall.

Cream: It's a bullseye.

Spark: Good shot, Cream.

Cheese: Chao, chao!

Knuckles: They got it.

Y/n: No they didn't.

They all looked up and saw the sand turned into a monstrous mouth.

Monster Metarex: Enough of your child's play! Your weapons have no effect against our omnipresent evil. (evil laugh) Your destruction is at hand and it's too late to turn back!

It fired a bunch of arrows at them which they ran from except Y/n.

Y/n: Lightning Paradise!

Y/n shot out Lightning Paradise to destroy the arrows.

Tails: Okay, activate laser Shield right away.

Cream: Okay, Tails.

Y/n: There's too many of them.

The Blue Typhoon flew over them.

Sonic: We can take shelter under here!

They ran under the Blue Typhoon as the shield came up, but the shield was beginning to be overwhelmed.

Cream: It's too powerful for us, Tails! I don't think the shield can hang on for much longer!

Tails: Stay calm. We're not gonna let this thing beat us.

Chaos: I can feel an immense Chaos Energy coming from that Metarex.

The Metarex turned into a light blue orb in the sky as Tails contacted Chris.

Tails: I'm pretty sure that weird Metarex up ahead swallowed the Chaos Emerald. We may beat it if Sonic uses a ring tunnel.

Chris: Roger! Sonic!

Chris shot Sonic his hover shoes.

Chris: Ring Tunnel!

Chris shot out a bunch of rings that formed a tunnel.

Sonic: Okay!

Sonic went straight through the tunnel towards the Metarex.

Chris: Let him have it, Sonic!

As soon as Sonic hit the Metarex, he got struck by lightning.

Everyone except Y/n and Chaos: Oh, no!

Weird Metarex: This is the end for you, Sonic.

Sonic began to fall to the ground.

Cosmo: What do we do? He's been hurt.

Y/n: Leave it to me.

Chaos: I'm going with you!

Chaos incised Y/n's legs which let Y/n jump up really high.

Chris: I'm coming, Sonic!

Arrows started to fall again.

Sonic: Turn back! It's too dangerous!

Chris: I don't care!

The arrows made it hard for Chris to steer.

Y/n: We might need to go all out for this.

Y/n took off Shadow's ring and entered Thunder Mode.

Chaos: Lord Y/n, you haven't used your full power in a such a long time.

Y/n: This is an emergency.

Y/n along with some yellow flash jumped on Chris' plane, went straight for the Metarex and destroyed it. Y/n exited Thunder Mode and landed on an old roof.

Y/n: What was that other-

He looked up and saw Shadow on a pole with the red and purple Chaos Emeralds surrounding him leaving him and the others in shock.

Y/n: Shadow?!

Chris: Am I seeing things?

Shadow looked at Chris and Y/n.

Shadow: Chaos Control.

Y/n: Shadow, wait-

Shadow disappeared with both Emeralds.

Chaos: I can't believe it. Shadow's alive.

Y/n: But he looked at us as if he didn't know us.

With Shadow.

He appeared in front of Eggman and Rouge with both Emeralds.

Eggman: Shadow!

Shadow only took a step and fainted.
