The grew was flying through space in the Blue Typhoon.

Chris: My new program will let us detect a Chaos Emerald anywhere in the galaxy no matter how far away it may be.

A small compartment opened up in Chris's control panel.

Chris: All right, Sonic. What do you say we try it out?

Sonic: Sure thing.

Sonic gave Chris the Chaos Emerald.

Chris: Okay.

Chris put the Emerald in the compartment.

Tails: Now we just connected to the main interface it we'll be on our way.

The map showed in front of the ship.

Tails: Knuckles, everything okay?

Knuckles was in the engine room looking after the Master Emerald.

Knuckles: So far so good.

Tails: Whoa!

Knuckles: What's up? You got something?

Tails: Yeah, I'm detecting a response already.

The beeping showed a spot on the map picked up the next Emerald.

Cosmo: It's thanks to you, Chris.

Helen: Excellent work, babe.

Chris: It's no big deal really.

Tails: Sure it's a big deal! I've built lots of neat stuff, but I couldn't have come up with something this good over night.

Y/n: There is no need to so modest, dear friend.

Chris: Come on, guys. You're embarrassing me.

Tails: Amy, what's the location?

Amy: the signals coming from a place called "Plant Breezy."

Tails: That sounds cool. Okay, Planet Breezy, here we come.

Amy: We're on our way.

Tails: Engage Warpfield driver!

A ring shout out from the front of the Blue Typhoon.

Tails: Warpfield ready! Let's go!

They went through the ring and disappeared in a flash of light.

The Blue Typhoon appeared right in front of Planet Breezy.

Amy: There it is, guys. Straight ahead, but it looks like rough weather. The whole planet's in the middle of a terrible snow storm.

Cosmo: Maybe the Metarex have taken its Planet egg away.

Tails: That would explain the weird weather they're having.

Tails pulled up what's happening on the planet, showing a frozen tree.

Cosmo: Everything looks so cold and lonely.

Star: (shivering) I hate the cold. It's not the time of the year for plants.

Chris: Even so, we have to go down there look for the Emerald. Ready, Sonic?

Sonic: Sure, let's go.

Y/n: Time to see if that bit of training paid off, Helen.

Helen: I hope that little bit was enough for now.

They went down, but the harsh wind made it hard to stay steady and then the ship began to shake.

Amy: What is that thing, Chris?!

Chris: It's a Metarex.

Spark: Let me deal with it.

Y/n: Uncle, are you sure?

Spark: (smirk) I need a bit of action, too.

Spark went out to see a dinosaur like Metarex with a spiked ball at the end of its tail.

Spark: Lightning Long Spear!

Spark launch a really long Spear of lightning from his hand, piercing and destroying the Metarex, but not before it could fire a missile at the engine making them go down.

Chaos: Master Spark, hang on!

Chaos shot his arm at Spark, grabbed him and pulled him inside.

Spark: Thank you, Chaos. I am very greatful.

Tails: Hang on, guys! I'm gonna have to bring it in for a landing!

Tails made a really harsh landing in the snow.

Tails: Knuckles, do we have any damage?

Knuckles: I'm afraid so. Looks like engines one and three have been hit. We'll have to fix them, or will never get off the ground.

Tails: Oh, great.

Star: Man, I hate having to go out into the cold.

Helen: Don't worry, Star. I have a spare jacket you can use.

They all stepped out of the Blue Typhoon with Chris wearing a blue jacket, and both Star and Helen wearing pink ones.

Sonic: Let's get this snow on the road.

Y/n smaked him in the head.

Sonic: Ow. Couldn't wait to do that, could you?

Y/n: You know my type of people, Faker.

Sonic jumped in the snow.

Chris It might be...

Sonic sunk into the snow.

Chris: Deep. Don't worry, I packed some new snowshoes.

Sonic: Got any earmuffs?

Y/n saw Star still shivering a little and took off his scarf to wrap around her neck.

Y/n: Take my scarf for a bit. I've trained to handle cold temperatures for an hour.

Star felt her face heat up to the point it couldn't even freeze.

Star: (blushing) Uh, thank you.

Cream: Big sis Star, take this before you go!

She gave Star a drinking container.

Cream: I've noticed you don't like the cold, so I made you some hot coco.

Star: Thank you, Cream.

Star made a vine around herself to carry the container.

Later.

Sonic, Knuckles, Chris, Helen, Cosmo, Star, Y/n and Chaos were in front of some frozen trees that the two Seedrians put their ears to.

Knuckles: What are you two doing?

Cosmo: We're trying to listen.

Sonic: Trying to listen to what?

Star: This is another Seedrian power. We can listen to any form of plants life-force, but only if that plant is still alive.

They two listened but heard nothing.

Cosmo: I knew we were too late.

Chris: Don't worry, Cosmo. Maybe it'll come to life again next spring.

Cosmo: There won't be a spring.

Star: Not in a planet where it snows all the time.

Sonic: If the Metarex had already taken the Planet egg away, there'd be no reason for them to still be hanging around. Maybe it's because the egg's still here someplace.

Cosmo: If that's true, we have to try and find it.

Y/n: If we do, it might reverse this wintery disaster land and bring back the trees.

Knuckles: We don't have time.

Cosmo: If we find it, this planet might have a chance to survive. I know we came here for a Chaos Emerald, but couldn't we look for a Planet egg, too?

Knuckles: No way.

Star: Oh, yes way. I am not going to let these trees suffer any longer.

Chris: What do you guys think.

Sonic: The Blue Typhoon's damaged.

Y/n: We can't find a Planet egg, yet alone a Chaos Emerald in this weather without some kind of aircraft.

Chris: We could use the X-Tornado. If we look for the egg, we might find the Emerald.

Sonic: Then I say we do it.

Y/n: Me too.

Chaos: I guess it's settled then.

Cosmo: Thank you all. This plant will be so grateful to you.

Knuckles: All right, let's go.

They got back to the Blue Typhoon, got the X-Tornado and took off in it. Chris, Helen and Cosmo were inside while the others were outside.

Y/n: So, you don't like the cold, Star?

Star: Yeah. Most Seedrians don't, though some happen to have a better tolerance to it. I just so happen to be one of the unlucky ones.

She took a sip of the coco Cream made her.

Star: Mmm! Your sister can make a mean batch of coco.

Y/n: I've only ever had tea to drink, so I wouldn't know.

Star: Then why not have a sip of mine?

Y/n: Are you sure?

Star: Positive.

Y/n took the container and drank from it.

Y/n: It is good.

He gave it back to Star.

Y/n/Star: (Thinking: Wait. From seeing those books Amy reads, isn't that an...)

Both their faces turned red.

Y/n/Star: (Thinking: An indirect kiss?!)

Chaos: My Lord, are you feeling okay? Your face is red.

Y/n: (blushing) I'm fi-fine.

They kept flying until the saw what looked to be an ice castle.

Knuckles: There they are.

Y/n: These Metarex bases stick out more than I thought they would.

Sonic: We're ready for them.

Star: Time to show these Metadorks a lesson or two.

There were a bunch of Metarex in the sky.

Chris: Let's go!

He shot a power ring that Sonic grabbed and Spindashed through the Metarex. While Knuckles jumped off the X-Tornado to destroy a few, too. Then Y/n, Chaos, Star destroyed some too.

Helen: Now it's our turn, Chris.

Helen jumped out, kicked some Metarex and when she got back in, the exploded. Then Chris destroyed some with the X-Tornado. All of them then returned to the X-Tornado.

Sonic: Don't let them get away, Chris!

Chris: I won't!

The remaining Metarex lead them to a ravine, then explosions went off making an avalanche.

Chris: I think we're in big trouble.

The avalanche was about to hit them.

Chris: Oh, no!

Right when the Avalanche was about to hit them, the Blue Typhoon flew in and took the hit for them.

Tails: Back to the repair shop.

Amy: Hey, look.

They looked ahead to see the ice castle.

Amy: Wow.

Cream: It's unbelievable.

Cheese: Cha, Chao!

Spark: In all my years, I've never seen anything like it.

Sonic and Knuckles jumped off the X-Tornado, but slipped on the ice. Then more Metarex came out.

Chris: Sonic, use this!

Chris shot a rocket powered snowboard at Sonic who road through the Metarex.

Knuckles: Wouldn't happen to have one of those things for me, would you?

Chris: Sorry, Knuckles! I only had enough time to make one!

Knuckles: Yeah? Well that's-

He was cut off by slipping.

Y/n: Don't worry, I got something to help me. Chaos, you ready?

Chaos: Ready.

Chaos incised Y/n's legs and when he jumped, Chaos' feet got blades on the souls, which allowed Y/n to skate on the ice.

Helen: The power of that creature never ceases to amaze me.

Star: Tell me about it.

They flew down to get Knuckles.

Knuckles: I don't get any respect. No respect at all.

Sonic pushed through the Metarex while Y/n cut right through them.

Tails: According to the scanner, the Chaos Emerald's in the center of that ice palace.

Chris: Roger. First things first. Hang on, Knuckles.

They went on and destroyed all the Metarex that got in the way.

Cosmo: How will we ever defeat them all when there are so many of them?

Chris: Good question.

They continued to destroy Metarex until Chris shot some missiles at the palace and made them a way in. Sonic, Y/n and Chaos were the first to enter. When they did, they saw the red Chaos Emerald in some sort of ice case.

Sonic: There it is.

Y/n: Now, all we got to do is figure out how to get it out.

Knuckles punched the doors, letting the others come in.

Chris: Guys, Can you get it out.

Sonic: We'll try.

Knuckles: (got out Shovel Claws) Leave this to me.

Knuckles launched at the ice, but he got deflected.

Knuckles: That ice is harder than a diamond.

???: Of course it is. If it were not, we would be at the mercy of Thieves like you.

Knuckles: Come out where we can see you!

???: Very well. Keep your eyes on the Emerald.

The Chaos Emerald began to glow and a big Metarex that looked like it was made of ice appeared behind it.

Knuckles: You don't scare me!

Knuckles and Sonic tried to break in, but it didn't work.

Ice Metarex: Now, I will destroy you.

The Metarex took the Emerald and put it on its chest, leaving everyone to feel the power.

Star: I can feel its power rising.

Chris: It's getting power from the Emerald.

The power was so great, it broke the roof of the palace.

Chris: Run!

They got out of the crashing palace, but so did the Metarex that hit the ground, forming a tremor that Chris, Cosmo, Star and Helen fell into, but they were grabbed by Sonic, Knuckles, Y/n and Chaos. As they pulled them out, the Blue Typhoon showed up.

Tails: Hang in there, guys!

The Metarex shot an ice blast at them that froze them solid.

Amy: Our cannons' frozen solid.

Chris and Cosmo flew in with the X-Tornado and shot missiles at the Metarex.

Chris: The Rockets didn't faze him.

Sonic ran up the Metarex.

Chris: Heads up, Sonic!

The X-Tornado threw two rings at Sonic who caught them and Spindashed towards the Metarex who shot an icicle out of its hand. Sonic destroyed it, but was caught in the Metarex's claws.

Cosmo: We've got to do something to save him.

Cosmo push the button by accident and it shot a laser beam.

Cosmo: I'm sorry, Chris! I just hit the laser beam.

The laser beam severed the claw that was holding Sonic so he could get away.

Chris: Great job, Cosmo. You're a real lifesaver. The laser beam sliced right through the ice. Knuckles, we're heading towards the engine room.

They all got inside and started to ready the laser cannon.

Tails: We're almost ready, Chris. See, all we have to do is get Knuckles to power up the the laser cannon will be good to go.

Knuckles: Let's go.

The lasers were getting ready.

Knuckles: The seven Chaos Emeralds are the servers. Our hearts intensify their power. The controller serves to unify the Chaos.

Chris: Sixty. Seventy. Eighty. Ninety.

Y/n was standing with the lasers.

Amy: What's he doing?

Spark: He wants to try a new technique he learned.

Chris: Energy charging sequence complete.

Tails: Fire!

The lasers were getting ready as lightning surged in Y/n's hand.

Y/n: Lightning Paradise!

He shot multiple beams of lightning at the same time the lasers shot at the Metarex.

Ice Metarex: Your weapons and techniques are of no use against me.

The Metarex summoned another icicle, but it was easily destroyed by the lasers, getting the Metarex shot by lasers and struck by multiple bolts of lightning. Leading to the Metarex's destruction.

Later.

The snow began to melt, but the trees were still dead.

Knuckles: I found it!

Knuckles found the Chaos Emerald in the ground and was about to grab it when three cards came out of nowhere and Rouge flew in and grabbed the Emerald.

Rouge: Thanks for doing the dirty work! I owe you one, Knuckie!

Knuckles: You bring that back here.

Amy: She just stole the Chaos Emerald!

Knuckles: Thanks very much for the update!

Y/n: Don't worry, she won't get far.

Chaos grabbed Rouge and threw her against a tree, causing her to drop the Emerald.

Rouge: Gee. I didn't think you liked it rou-

She was interrupted when Y/n stabbed his bracelet blade into her shoulder, causing Rouge to scream in pain.

Y/n: Didn't have enough fun stealing the Master Emerald those few times, so now here you are trying to sabotage our mission.

Small traces of lightning were flowing through Y/n's blade and into Rouge's system.

Rouge: (Thinking: My body's... going numb.)

Spark: Y/n, let her go!

Y/n: But...

Spark: No buts! We agreed to only use that technique on difficult Metarex.

Y/n sighed and let Rouge go.

Y/n: Star, please heal her.

Star: Right.

Star began to heal Rouge.

Star: Who is this woman anyway?

Chaos: This is Rouge the Bat. She was once Y/n's closets companions.

Star: I see.

Star's healing energy began to fade a little.

Helen: Star, are you okay?

Star: I feel fine.

Rouge was able to get back up.

Rouge: Thanks for that, Miss...

Star: Just call me Star.

Rouge: I see you're someone new to take orders from Y/n here.

Star: That's not what's happening. I have a good enough respect for him that I'll gladly do anything he asks of me if he asks nicely.

Rouge: Whatever you say.

Chaos: Lord Y/n, let me see the Emerald she dropped.

Y/n: Okay.

Y/n picked up the Chaos Emerald and gave it to Chaos who inspected it for a minute.

Chaos: It's a fake.

Everyone gasped.

Rouge: It can't be fake.

Y/n took the Emerald and crushed it with his hands.

Y/n: He's right. A real Chaos Emerald is impossible to destroy.

Rouge: I can't believe I flew all the way over here for nothing!

Star: I can only imagine you're frustration. But I assure you, it pales in comparison to my own.

Rouge: I'll be off.

She flew away.

Tails: I can't believe that fake Emerald was able to fool our sensors.

Chaos: It even managed to fool me. I needed to touch it directly to see it was fake.

Sonic: Hey, guys. Check it out.

They looked down to see some grass growing.

Cosmo: The grass, it's growing.

Chris: Spring came after all. And before you know it, this place will be just as green and beautiful as it was before.

Helen: A very lovely conclusion.

Sonic: Sure. Happy, Cosmo and Star?

Cosmo: Yes.

Star: Absolutely.

She took off her jacket.

Star: Here, thanks for letting me use this, Helen.

Helen: No problem at all.

Star: And thanks for the coco, Cream.

Cream: I was happy to help you, big sis Star.

Star: (blushing) And lastly, (takes off scarf) thanks for lending me your mother's scarf, Y/n.

Y/n: It was nothing.

He took his scarf and felt Star's hand unintentionally, causing him to blush as he put the scarf on. Amy watched the scene with a grin.

Amy: (Thinking: I sense romance in the air.)
