Y/n was walking through the halls until he saw Chris.

Y/n: Oh, hey, Chris.

Chris: Hi, Y/n. What's up?

Y/n: I just wanted to say how impressed I am about you technician skills. I honestly didn't think you'd be as good as your grandfather in just six years.

Chris: Thanks. You know, everyone at home knows not to underestimate a Thorndyke. Anyways, you told a really great speech the other day.

Y/n: Thank you. Though, there is something serious I would like to discuss with you.

Chaos came from the bracelet.

Chaos: Very serious. In fact. Lord Y/n, mind if I take my twenty minute break in the bathtub?

Y/n: Go ahead.

Chaos: Thank you.

Chaos went to the bathroom.

Chris: So, what do you want to talk about?

Y/n: Helen told me you and her are seeing each other now.

Chris: (blushing) She did, huh?

Y/n: Yeah, and I just wanted to say one thing about it.

Chris: What's that-

Y/n threw Chris to a wall and put a hand surging with lightning next to Chris face.

Y/n: (intimidating tone) Don't you dare make her cry.

Chris nodded and Y/n walked away.

Y/n: Good talk, Chris.

Chris slid down on his butt.

Chris: (Thinking: This hedgehog's gonna give me a heart attack one day.)

Later.

Cream: You detected one of the Chaos Emeralds?

Amy: Are you sure about this, Knuckles?

Knuckles: Yes. There's no doubt about it. I was in the engine room a few minutes ago when I saw the Master Emerald reacting to something. It must've been an Emerald.

Amy looked at Tails.

Amy: Check for a planet nearby.

Tails: Let's see.

A big holographic projection of a planet appeared in front of the crew.

Chris: There's one.

Cosmo: That's planet Seco.

Sonic: And according to my galactic guidebook, it's dry as a bone.

Y/n: Does it have any civilizations that we could ask for information?

Star: Yeah. But they wear long, dirty clothes due to them being in a desert all day.

Amy: Tails, we're gonna land on planet Seco and find that Emerald. Let's go!

Tails: I'm supposed to give the orders.

Amy: Just do it!

They began to fly towards planet Seco.

Chris: According to the scope, there's a lot of water on this world.

Sonic: Oh, no. We can't land here. There's got to be some kind of mistake.

Knuckles: Tough luck, Sonic.

The Blue Typhoon entered Seco's atmosphere and landed in the water.

Tails: Splash down!

Everyone got into submarines.

Sonic: You musta made a wrong turn, Tails. The guidebook says this planet's dry.

Tails: Don't blame me, Sonic. Sounds like you're Galactic guidebook is seriously out of date.

Sonic: There's way too much water here! I hate water.

Helen: I see you still have your aquaphobia, Sonic.

Chris: Don't sweat it, Sonic. I have a way for you to stay dry even when you're underwater. You're not afraid of submarines, are you?

They all climbed into their subs.

Tails: Launch the subs.

Everyone got their submarines launched into the water and they later resurfaced on land without, Sonic, Chris or Helen. Leaving only Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Cheese, Y/n, Chaos, Spark, Star and Cosmo.

Amy: Are you sure the Chaos Emerald's somewhere nearby?

Knuckles: I couldn't be surer.

Cosmo: What makes you so certain we'll find it here, Knuckles?

Knuckles: Because I've got a natural knack for finding things.

Cosmo: Oh.

Knuckles got out the Shovel Claws.

Knuckles: I'll show you.

Knuckles started digging into the dirt while Cream got out a bucket and two spades, which she gave one to Cosmo.

Cream: Why don't we date for the Chaos Emerald, too?

Cream and Cosmo started digging.

Amy: This is gonna be a long day.

She walked off.

Star: Excuse me. Where do you think you're going?

Amy: I'm going to ask the locals if they've seen it.

Star: That's a nice thought, but it would be nicer if you stayed here and helped us.

Amy: Sorry. I don't want my dress getting dirty.

Star: Why you...

Y/n: Calm it down.

Chaos: I hope Sonic, Chris and Helen didn't get into trouble.

Y/n: I trust Sonic and Helen to deal with it.

With Sonic, Chris, and Helen.

They surfaced somewhere else.

Chris: Sorry, guys.

He started looking around.

Chris: Where are we?

Helen: Not with the others, that's where.

They looked ahead and saw an island where a gaint metal tower was.

Chris: Hey, look.

They made there way to shore where Chris had to carry Sonic.

Chris: Sonic, come on. You're safe now.

Helen: You need to straighten up.

When Chris and Helen looked ahead, they gasp when they saw robotic fish heads with legs.

Sonic: They're Metarex.

Chris: Yeah, and whoever sent them here designed them especially for the water.

Sonic: Right. I bet their boss stole the planet egg and turned this place into a water world. I knew there was something fishy going on.

The fish Metarex came right at them, but Sonic was easily able to fend them off.

Sonic: Run while you have the chance.

Chris: I'm not afraid. I've got a black belt in karate now.

Sonic: You know karate?

Chris: Tanaka gave me martial arts lessons.

Helen: And I've been working on my legs to the point where my kicks can even damage steel.

Chris: I'll chop through these fishy freaks and turn them into sushi.

Chris walked over to a fish Metarex and tried to punch it, but he missed its face by in inch because of the shortness of his arm. He then tried to kick the Metarex, but it missed again.

Sonic: Quit kidding around, Chris!

Helen: Here, hun. Let me show you how it's done.

Helen jumped up and kicked a Metarex in the head, which actually did some serious damage. Helen flipped herself and her hair back as the Metarex exploded.

Sonic: Woah.

Chris: That's my girl.

Chris started to be chased by the fish Metarex.

Sonic: Helen, you get Chris out of here! I'll take care of them!

Chris: Don't you want me to help you?

Sonic: That's okay. Leave the fighting to the experts, Chris.

Chris: (Thinking: No wonder Sonic doesn't believe in me. I have the skills of an 18-year-old with the strength of a twelve year old. Maybe I can stop these things with a surprise counter attack.)

Chris stopped running and finally hit a Metarex, but he hurt his hand while the Metarex was fine. The Metarex were going to pile up on him, and when Helen stepped in to help, Sonic pushed them into the water and Spindashed the Metarex.

Sonic: Get help.

Chris: But Sonic.

Sonic: Get in that sub and get going!

Chris: Look behind you!

Behind Sonic was a taller fish Metarex that had a purple color instead of a brown one like the others. It grabbed Sonic and threw him into the water.

Chris: Just don't panic!

The Metarex base got out a big gun that shot a net at Sonic and caught him.

Chris: They got him. Just hold on, Sonic! I'm coming for you!

Helen: No, Chris. We have to get the others. Otherwise, we'll be caught, too.

Chris thought for a moment.

Chris: Alright. I'll go.

Chris and Helen got into the sub and got away, leaving Sonic.

Later.

They made it back to the Blue Typhoon where Tails was.

Tails: Sonic was captured?!

Chris: Yeah, but I'm going back to rescue him.

Tails: By yourself? There's no way, Chris!

Chris: Trust me. I know what I'm doing, Tails.

Tails: No, you don't!

Chris: I do!

Tails: But what's your plan, Chris?

Chris: I'll fly back to where Sonic is and I... I don't know.

Tails: We can save Sonic if we use teamwork. There's no reason for you to go in all alone, okay.

Chris: Okay.

Helen: Thank goodness that's all sorted out.

Tails got a call on his communicator and answered it.

Tails: This is the Blue Typhoon, over.

Amy: It's Amy. I'm calling from under the island.

Tails: I have some bad news about Sonic.

Amy: He got captured.

Tails: How'd you find that out?

Amy: I just made a whole bunch of new friends. They saw the Metarex capturing Sonic.

Chris: we got to go rescue him, Amy!

Amy: I'll take care of it, Chris. These folks will show me where Sonic's being held. When he sees me coming his heart will start pounding faster than my hammer.

Amy started to fantasize.

Helen: I never realized how bad her obsession with Sonic was until now.

Chris: Excuse me?

Amy: Is that you, Sonic?

Chris: No! It's me, Chris! We have to rescue Sonic right away, Amy!

Amy: What do you mean, "we"?! I don't need a chaperone.

Chris: Okay.

Amy: Tails, I'll need some time to set Sonic free. Pick us up in the X-Tornado in an hour. Got it?

Tails: Sure, Amy.

Tails hung up.

Chris: Need any help getting the X-Tornado ready?

Tails: I don't think so, Chris? Why don't you guys go take a rest? You might want to wash up a bit, too.

Chris washed up then he sat on his bed and sighed. Then Helen walked in and saw his sad face.

Helen: Hey, what's wrong?

Chris: I learned so much in the past six years. I got self-confidence when Tanaka taught me self-defense. Grandpa gave me flying lessons and helped me get my pilot's license. I even got a part-time job after school so I can get work experience.

Helen: I already know all about all that. But what does it have to do with anything right now?

Chris: Despite all that, it's like I'm back where I was six years ago. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come here after all. Sonic and the others don't need my help. They all have incredible powers. Every time we get into trouble, one of them jumps into action and saves the day and I just stand there watching. I want to help, but what can I do? Even Cream and Cheese can do more than I can. I may as well face it. I'm totally useless and I should have stayed home.

Helen: Now, that's not even half true.

Chris: Open your eyes, Helen. Even you did more than I did against those Metarex.

Helen: That's true, but let's not forget that I also aged back. After I destroyed that Metarex, I felt the full strain of the kick. Something that I've been training to decrease. And when my picture fell, so did yours. Meaning that just as much as Y/n needed my help, Sonic needed yours. Sure, you may not be good in combat, but you can be good in other regards. Like you still have your knowledge, use that to your advantage.

Chris got up determined.

Chris: You're right! I can help Sonic! Thanks for the pep talk, Helen.

Chris gave her a peak on the cheek and ran to his desk.

Elsewhere.

Y/n grabbed a rock really tight.

Cream: Big brother, what's wrong?

Y/n: I don't know why, but for some reason I have this sudden, blinding rage!

Y/n broke the part of the the rock he was grabbing.

Chaos: Okay, let's settle down.

Star: If it's about that thing that's been bothering you since we departured, I say you shouldn't let it weigh you down.

Y/n: You are probably right, Lady Star.

Star: Oh, you can drop the formalities and just call me Star, Lord Y/n.

Y/n: Then you may also drop the formalities with me.

Tails showed up with the X-Tornado.

Tails: Hey, I'm going to need to borrow Y/n and Chaos real quick!

Y/n: Let me guess. Something happened to the idiot?

Tails: Yep.

Y/n: (sigh) I hope you-

Star: It's fine with me.

Spark: Just rescue Sonic and be back here as soon as you can.

Y/n with Chaos still in his bracelet jumped onto the X-Tornado's wing and they flew off.

Y/n: All right, Tails. Give me an update.

Tails: Amy entered the Metarex fortress to save Sonic and we need to pick them up.

Y/n: It's a good thing I've been keeping up with my training. I didn't tell anyone this, but I only spent four months working on the machine. I use the first two months of our time back here to go on a training Journey with Cream and Cheese.

Tails: Did you learn any new techniques?

Y/n: You'll see soon, my dear friend.

They made it to the fortress.

Tails: Amy!

Amy jumped out of the building with Sonic on the end of a fishing pole tied up and they landed on the X-Tornado.

Tails: I'm heading back to the Blue Typhoon!

Amy: Roger!

Sonic: Now that I'm free, how about untying me?

Y/n was about to cut Sonic's ropes, but the bigger fish Metarex shot at them.

Tails: Missed me!

Y/n: Or did they?

They looked at Sonic's rope to see it was cut and Sonic was falling.

Amy: Sonic!

Sonic: Next time you want to rescue me, don't!

Sonic was nearing the water when he saw Chris in his plane.

Chris: Hey, Sonic!

Sonic: That's Chris!

Chris: Try these!

Chris shot Sonic's feet, replacing his shoes with shoes that look like Shadow's. When he hit the water, the shoes made Sonic float above it.

Amy: How's he doing that?

Sonic: Thanks for the lift, pal.

Tails: They're hover shoes, Amy! Now that's an inventive invention.

Y/n: Not bad, Chris. Not bad at all.

Amy: Guys, look! More Metarex on the way!

The Metarex were swimming towards Sonic.

Sonic: Now that I can stay dry, those fish heads are washed up!

Y/n: Sonic, leave the big one to me!

Sonic: You got it!

Sonic made quick work of the small Metarex.

Y/n: Tails, bring me closer to the water!

Tails nodded and flew Y/n right above the water. Then Y/n began to surge lightning in his left hand.

Amy: Are you gonna Thunder Jab it?

Y/n: Just watch.

Y/n ran on the water and when he got close to the big Metarex, he slapped the water with his lightning surged hand.

Y/n: Burst Stream!

The water conducted the lightning to the Metarex and destroyed it.

Y/n: We did it.

Sonic: Couldn't have done it without you, Chris.

Amy: The planet egg.

Y/n: Defeating the Metarex here must have freed it.

The planet egg sunk into the water and became one with the planet again.

Tails: Mission accomplished.

All the water on the planet began to dry up.

With the others.

Cosmo was sleeping until Star shook her awake.

Star: Sis, wake up!

Cosmo: Huh? I must have fallen asleep.

She saw the water gone than Y/n showed up.

Y/n: I see you've see what me and the others did.

Spark ruffled Y/n's quills.

Spark: That's my boy!

Cheese: Chao, chao, chao!

Y/n: What's up, Cheese?

They followed Cheese's gaze and saw the dark blue Chaos Emerald

Cream: You found it!

They all went to the Chaos Emerald and Y/n picked it up.

Y/n: A real successful day. We stopped a Metarex base and got a Chaos Emerald.

Star: Not bad for our first mission.

Y/n: Let's head back to the ship.

Little to anyone's knowledge. A tall, dark green Metarex with a white cape stared at them from a distance. He was looking at Y/n in particular.

Metarex: Very interesting.
