Tails was fixing the X-Tornado for some upgrade as he was working hard, looking little sweaty. He wiped it off of his face and eyebrows. Just then, he heard a knock and turned to see Y/N holding a cup of pink lemonade.

"Hey, Tails. Thought I'd give you something to drink." she said, walking over to him.

"H-Hi, Y/N. Thank you." he blushed, taking a cup from her and sipping it.

Y/N smiled and looked at the X-Tornado.

"I see you've been working hard. Although, don't you need some break? You've been so busy with mechanics and everything."

"Nah, it's fine. Whenever I have something in mind, I just go for it."

"But it also involves resting."

Y/N grabbed the tool away from Tails after he finished drinking his pink lemonade.

"How about you join on a picnic with me?"

"P-Picnic? L-Like a date?..." Tails asked, whispering the last part.

Y/N though didn't hear that one much to his relief.

"Yeah. I already brought the basket with me with all the food Cream helped me made. I kinda figured you'll be stubborn enough to not take a break. So, let's go."

Tails eventually did what he was told, knowing arguing with her won't help as he whipped off some black smear that was on his face and dusted himself off before following her.

Not a minute later, they made it to a nice clear field with a big tree as they set up the cover on the floor right under the shade of the tree where they can sit and set up the food on it.

Tails and Y/N then sat down and began to eat some delicious fruits and sandwiches. Though, Tails tried to sneakily eat the cupcake when Y/N caught him in the act and told him to eat his lunch first before eating a dessert. He pouted and ate his lunch before finally eating a cupcake, his eyes sparkled in delight at how delicious the cupcake is.

"Wow! Cream really made this?"

"Yep. She told me she wanted to try and bake like her mother. She kinda can get overboard when it comes to baking like everyday."

"Really? Man, she's gotta need some other hobbies than that."

"Like she should do some art."

"Or learn science."

"Seriously? That will totally bore her."

Tails and Y/N chuckled at their joke as they look over the view of the field and trees that are far overhead with a breeze hitting their fur. Tails took a glance at Y/N and blushed to see her quills flowing beautifully as she smiles at the nature. His cheeks turned pink, feeling his twin tails turn into a shape of the heart without realizing it. Y/N turned and smiled a little to see him gazing at her with loving eyes and a goofy smile he's making. So she decided to do something fun and stood up.

"You wanna climb up the tree? It'll be fun."

"Oh, uh, sure."

"And don't try and fly. That's cheating." she smirked, climbing up the bark to the branch.

"Hey! I wasn't even going to!" he exclaimed, climbing after her.

Y/N grabbed the big branch and flipped herself up and sat on it and Tails not too long came who looks a little tired and sat down next to her. He followed to where she is looking at and gasped to see a beautiful sun as it's slowly goes down bit by bit.

"Wow! You can see the view from up here! Just like back in Earth!"

"Yeah. It looks so peaceful."

She reached her hand out to the sun.

"Sometimes when I reach for it and try to touch it, it feels like I'm going into tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Tails asked, tilting his head.

"A place with more suns in the sky than you can count."

"Really? It would be so bright."

"A place not like today, or yesterday. A place where things are better."

Tails stared at her in amazement.

"I never you can be poetic."

"Not that much. I just learned something from Earth. You know, I at first thought tomorrow would be a place to call home, but it's not just a home."

Y/N turned to him.

"You, my brother, my family, and my friends are my tomorrow."

"Y/N..."

He feels his heart beating like a drum, clenching his fist. He couldn't take it anymore.

"I... I like you, Y/N!!" he blurted out.

Y/N look shocked.

"I like you as not just a friend but more than that. I l-love you."

He closed his eyes, feeling his face all hot and his twin tails curled around him to cover himself. 

"I-I understand you don't love me. I won't force you."

Instead of the rejection, he feels his twin tails being removed and a hand placed on his cheek. Tails snapped his eyes opened in shock and saw Y/N giving him a soft, kind smile.

"That's really wonderful of you. But just let you know, I'm not yet ready for this. Please understand. Let's do this nice and slow and then we'll see what will happen."

He nodded, glad to get that out of his chest. She then smirked at him.

"Although... I might love you if you at least grow up to be.... a man."

Tails immediately shot up and huffed in and out of his chest.

"I will, Y/N! You will love me and see me as a real man! I'm gonna be handsome and tall so you won't see me as a kid anymore!" He declared, doing a hero pose and making her laugh heartily.

"Okay, Tails. I'll wait. But you're still my little hero as I will always see you as."

She leaned down and gave him a kiss on the right side of the lips. He went frozen with his twin tails and his fur up, his face all red with a goofy smile, and fell off the branch. Tails luckily landed on the soft mattress of the picnic. His head spins with hearts around his head. Y/N smiled down at Tails amusingly.

Y/N brought Tails back to his lab to his bedroom where he sleeps and placed him there. She took off his shoes and brought out a blanket before covering him. She brushed out some strand to the side of his head. As she was about to leave, a hand grabbed her arm.

"Tails?" she asked in confusion.

"Please stay here... with me."

Y/N blushed slightly.

"Um... sure."

She took off her shoes, gloves, and her headband and move over to the bed to make room for herself. Just as she was sure she was comfortable, she felt Tails snuggled himself into her chest and heard him start snoozing softly. She chuckled and fell asleep also as they sleep there peacefully.

Meanwhile, Sonic was searching for his sister as he decided to ask Tails where she is when he noticed his lab is a bit empty and messy and went over to his room. As he opened the door, he was shocked to see Tails snuggling with Y/N, looking asleep. He stood there for a moment and slowly closed the door and walked away. As he was sure he was far away, he cheered loudly.

"My ship has been sailed!!!"
