Cosmo is on the bridge. Y/N shows up with a few boxes.

"Oh, hey, Cosmo."

"Oh... Hi, Y/N."

"How are you doing?"

"Doing fine. You?"

"I'm fine. Besides being a little roughed up by Shadow."

Cosmo frowned.

"I'm sorry about your friend. You must really want to help him remember."

"Well, life can be hard... But sometimes, you just got to keep on trying and maybe they'll remember you."

"I wish had the power to do that."

Y/N smiled and patted her head, causing her to blush.

"Don't doubt yourself. I'm sure you have the ability that's just waiting to come out from inside you."

Cosmo looks at her sparkles in her eyes before smiling back at her.

Tails and Y/N finish erecting the palm trees on the ship.

"That's the last one."

"I've been meaning to ask you, what's the point of having these artificial palm trees? It's not exactly tropical out here in space." Y/N asked, tilting her head.

"Yeah, I know, but it's all because of Chuck. He once told me that it's important to make a ship like home to keep up the crew's morale."

Y/N sweatdrops.

"Oh... really? I'm sure his ideas... are original."

Tails giggled.

"How's your head, Tails?"

"All fine actually. If it wasn't for your healing, we wouldn't have found another Chaos Emerald. All thanks to you. Come to think of it, your crystal sure has been upgrading your power."

"Yeah, it does. And it's amazing. Although, I have some limits. If I keep on using them, I lose consciousness."

"Really?" Tails asked, feeling a little surprised and worried.

"Yeah, but I just gotta keep it low for now. Though I wondered what happens if I did use all of them like full power, what would happen to me?"

Now this made Tails' mind full of theory and slight fear. He wondered the same thing, but he can be wrong. Or maybe not.

"I'm sure you'll be okay. Just keep your power on medium and then maybe you'll be able to get use to using full power for you to embrace it."

Y/N smiles and gives him a kiss on the cheek, causing his face to turn pink.

"Thanks, Tails. You're always the smart and kind friend. Even cute."

Y/N walks away to find others if they need any help, leaving Tails who had a goofy smile on his face and fainted on the spot.

Amy hammers a dent until it is repaired. Y/N arrives with her stack of boxes along with Sonic who decided to come and help.

"Hey, Amy. Can you watch this stuff for us?"

Y/N and Sonic sets the boxes down and starts to leave.

"Wait Y/N!"

Y/N stops while Sonic keeps on going. When Amy was sure he was gone, she turned to Y/N.

"Uh, do you think Shadow is okay? I know you are kinda close with him. Does he remember you?"

Flashback of Shadow diving after the Crimson Egg.

"Don't worry. Knowing him, he always seem to come back."

Amy nods and went back to hammering as Y/N left. What they didn't know was that Sonic was listening.

Y/N was helping Knuckles with repairs on the ship. Knuckles is tighening a nut with a wrench.

"It's lucky for us you can control the Master Emerald. It saved the ship!"

Knuckles chuckles.

"Well, I know you guys need me for that."

"Hey, thanks again for saving me from the fall. I thought I wasn't going to make it."

"It's no problem. I can't believe that batty just drop you down like that just because you refuse to give her the Chaos Emeralds."

"Yeah, I know. I am upset with that and somehow still cares for her. I wonder where Rouge is right now."

Flashback of the Crimson Egg descending into the gravitational field.

"Who cares about that bat? It serves her right for fluttering around where she doesn't belong! And for dropping you!"

Y/N blushes and giggles.

"You really do care about me. You don't have to worry, I'm a strong and tough woman."

Knuckles scoffs with a blush on his muzzle.

"Sometimes you do need some help. Although I won't admit that I need any help."

"Of course, you would say that."

Meanwhile, using tongs, Chris places a chip into a circuit board.

"I'm almost done..."

Tails stands up.

"That was a tough fight."

"The Metarex are totally relentless. They keep collecting Planet Eggs. I know they're transforming them somehow, but I can't figure out why." Chris said.

"Planet Eggs and Chaos Emeralds all have huge amounts of power. I bet the Metarex want to use that energy to take over the galaxy." Tails explained.

"How are we ever gonna defeat them? Red Pine said there were three other commanders out there with armies of Metarex ready to fight!"

"I don't know if we can win, but if we give up, the galaxy is doomed."

In Yellow Zelkova's Battleship, Metarex General Yellow Zelkova ponders Red Pine's death. He is flanked by Metarex Troopers.

"How could Red Pine have been defeated? He was almost as strong as me!"

Zelkova is communicating with the two other Metarex Generals, Black Narcissus and Pale Bayleaf.

"What you and Red Pine never understood is that strength must be balanced with intelligence and skill." Pale Bayleaf said over the video.

Bayleaf fiddles with a red Chaos Emerald.

"You're calling me weak?!" Yellow Zelkova growled.

Black Narcissus is also flanked by Metarex Troopers. His ship has landed on a deserted planet.

"This bickering is pointless. We should be fighting our enemies, not each other. We will not win this conflict unless we are unified."

Unlike the other two generals, Bayleaf is seated in his command chair.

"We're not fighting. Just having a difference of opinion of our tactics." Pale Bayleaf pointed out.

"Argue if you want, but my focus will stay on our foes, especially on Sonic and Y/N." Black Narcissus said.

There is an entire legion of Metarex Troopers standing behind Narcissus, who has landed his ship on a destroyed planet.

"They are far more dangerous than you realize. The fact that they defeated Red Pine is extremely disturbing. I must learn the secret of their speed and discover their weaknesses. I will not feel at ease until those two hedgehogs are eliminated."

The transmission ends with the other two generals.

"I'm tired of all this talking! Why don't we go find him and fight him now?"

His troopers turn to Yellow Zelkova.

Pale Bayleaf's Battleship

"I will not be intimidated by hedgehogs. He and she and their fellow fighters were weakened by their recent battle."

He tosses the Emerald into the air and catches it with the same hand.

"The powers at our command are more than enough to finish off Sonic and Y/N forever!"

"There's an unidentified spacecraft directly in front of us!" Chris called out.

"Have you picked up their ID code?" Tails asked.

"They aren't sending any." Amy said.

"Put a visual on the main monitor. Maximum zoom!"

"Roger."

"Is it a Metarex?" Cream asked in worry.

"Chao chao!" Cheese said in worry as well.

An image of the detected spaceship appears on the jolo-monitor. The crew recognize it as the Chaotix' spaceship.

Sonic grits his teeth while Y/N smiles.

"It's the Chaotix! Especially, Espio..."

Chris, Sonic, Y/N, and Tails are meeting with the Chaotix by the hangar.

"We're not sure how it happened exactly, but we got lost in space." Espio admitted.

"And there was no place to stop and ask for directions." Vector lets out a laugh.

"I understand. Mistakes happen and you are unfamiliar with a big space you are in." Y/N softly said, looking at Espio who blushes.

"You mean you've been lost since you delivered those packages to me? But that was weeks ago!" Chris said in surprise.

"Well... like Y/N said outer space is a big place. Plus our warp engine gave out, and we didn't have any jumper cables to restart it." Vector pointed out.

"You should've sent out an SOS, and we would have picked you up sooner." Sonic said, glaring slightly at Espio.

"Our transmitter got broke thanks to a certain bumblin' bee." Vector said, eyeing Charmy.

"It wasn't my fault."

"I can probably repair your ship, but it will take some time, and until I'm done, you will have to wait on board the Blue Typhoon. While you're stayin' here, I don't want any trouble, okay? Captain's orders." Tails assisted.

"No problem." Espio said.

"Eh? Forget it! I'm not gonna let you boss me around!" Charmy said.

"Fine! Then I won't fix your ship!"

Vector places a hand on Tails' shoulder.

"Don't listen to him. I give you my word, we'll be on our bestest behavior. And since you're makin' repairs anyway, why don't you install a multi-functional auto navigational system? That way we can get home!"

Everyone else but Tails sweatdrop.

"...No problem."

Later, Tails is at work on the Chaotix' spaceship. Cosmo and Y/N wheels a cart of food to him.

"Lunch is ready, Tails." Y/N said.

Cosmo looks around.

"Hey, where did Chris go?"

"He's finishing the repairs on the Blue Typhoon for me. I've got my hands pretty full fixing Vector's ship." Tails informed.

"We sure keep you busy, don't we?" Y/N said.

"Ah... It's nothing I can't handle. And besides, I like making repairs."

"Okay, but don't overwork yourself."

"Y/N's right. You may need to eat to give you energy." Cosmo agreed.

Vector, who is watching them, chuckles. Espio approaches him.

"What do you know!"

"What's going on, Vector?"

"Now I see why Tails didn't want us around while he fixed our ship. That little fox sure is foxy."

Charmy enters.

"Huh?"

"Tails has a crush on that light blue hedgehog girl. He got rid of us so that he could be alone with her, and I'll bet that he'll ask her for a date or invite her to take a spacewalk so they can gaze at the stars!"

Tails is taking a break.

"I think you and the others have been pushing yourselves too hard lately." Cosmo said.

"At least we have time to take it easy now." Y/N said.

Tails sips his tea.

"This would probably be a good time to spring my surprise on everybody." Cosmo announced.

"Oh?" Y/N turned to her.

"What kind of surprise do you have in mind, Cosmo?" Tails asked.

Cosmo giggled.

"I'm not going to tell you two."

With the Chaotix...

"They're only chatting about regular stuff." Espio said, denying the fact that Y/N would ever have a crush on Tails.

"That's why you're amateurs. I'm not only a professional detective, but I'm also an authority on love. Look at how hard he's trying! When it comes to love, Tails is a late bloomer, so he's beating around the bush. He's a perfect example of someone who's not popular with girls." Vector analyzed.

He stops and looks at Espio who had a slight jealous look on his face.

"Wait a minute... You like Y/N, too, aren't you?!"

Espio blushed.

"W-What? What are you talking about?"

"My judgments are never wrong. ... Oh no! Hide!"

They quickly duck out of sight as Cosmo and Y/N leaves with the cart. Tails returns to work.

"Look at 'em. Tails is too shy and insecure to tell that girl how much he cares about her! I know exactly what that feels like!"

Vector sobs.

"I think you drank too much swamp water when you were a baby." Charmy looked over at him.

The Chaotix walk down a corridor.

"Tails says he doesn't need help fixin' up my ship, but wanderin' around doin' nothin' while he sweats away makes me feel like a freeloader! I've been thinkin' that since Tails is scratchin' our back, maybe me oughta scratch his back!"

"It's itchy?" Charmy questioned.

"That's just an expression!"

"Sor-ry..."

"We'll repay Tails for what he's doin' by helpin' him with the heart of that light blue hedgehog!"

"We're detectives, Vector, not matchmakers." Espio said.

"I've come up with a scmene I call 'Dame in Distress'. Here, let me tell you how it'll work."

They huddle.

In the engine room, Knuckles is polishing the Master Emerald. He looks up when he hears a noise.

"Hey, who's there?"

Charmy appears with a closed eye smile.

"It's me. I'm getting bored of waiting for my ship to get fixed. Do you wanna play tag with me?"

Knuckles looks weary before getting back to work.

"I've got more important things to do."

Charmy blew raspberry.

"Knuckles can't catch me! Knuckles can't catch me! Knuckles can't catch me! Naa naa naa naa naa naa!"

He makes another face. Knuckles chuckles with a tick mark on his head.

"You're gonna be sorry you said that, buzz boy!"

Knuckles runs toward Charmy, but the bee sprays him with a floral-scented spray. Knuckles faints, and Charmy lowers him to the ground. Vector and Espio emerge from behind a wall.

"He weighs a ton!" Charmy groaned.

"Good work, Charmy! Now I'll take over."

Vector opens a case of markers.

"When I'm through, his own mama won't recognize him!"

He draws on Knuckles' face while Charmy laughs.

"You take it from here, Espio."

"Right."

Espio nods and becomes invisible and picks up Knuckles. Vector and Charmy smile.

Y/N walks down the same hall the Chaotix were in earlier.

"I wonder what everyone's been doing..."

Suddenly the heavily-modified Knuckles, hefted by Espio, appears in front of Y/N. He tried to act intimidating as Knuckles.

"Y/N!"

"Whoa!" Y/N jumped in surprise.

"Stop, young lady! This is the first street in hell!"

Espio accidentally drops Knuckles.

"Oops."

But he picks him up.

"It's dangerous for a young lady to walk here by herself!"

Y/N looks more confused. Vector and Charmy watch from upstairs.

"Growl or something!"

Vector and Charmy motion for Espio to scare Y/N.

"This is ridiculous."

Y/N took a notice at that familiar voice and raised her eyebrow.

"Espio, is that you?"

Espio sweatdrops in fear and quickly intimidates.

"What? N-No! It's Knuckles!"

Y/N narrows her eyes and walks closer to the unconscious Knuckles.

"Okay, then what happened to your face?"

"I-It's my uh.... uh.... um..."

"Espio is so dead!!" Vector whisper yelled.

Once she's close to Knuckles, she taps her finger on his head, seeing him not flinching. Y/N then looks over his shoulder and pushes the invisible Espio. He falls down along with Knuckles, turning off the invisibility to reveal the visible Espio.

"Well, Espio? Explain?"

Espio smiles nervously.

"Well, you see... uh..."

As Espio begins to explain, Tails emerges from another room.

"Huh? What are you doing, Espio? Why's Knuckles on the floor?...Y/N?"

Vector and Charmy look even more shock and scared that their plan is failing and Y/N is getting suspicious about this.

"Don't ask me. Ask Espio. He'll explain."

"Espio? Wait, why does Knuckles have makeup all over his face?"

Espio gulps and quickly flees with Knuckles.

"Hey, Espio! Geez... that was weird." Y/N said.

"Yeah..." Tails agreed, looking confused.

Meanwhile, in Crimson Egg in Project Shadow room, Eggman and Rouge are looking at Shadow's stasis chamber.

"Well, Rouge, you got more than you bargained for when you stowed away on my ship."

"That's an understatement. All I wanted was the Chaos Emeralds."

"I suspected it all along."

"What happened to us, anyway?"

"It would appear we were swallowed up by some kind of gravity field, and spit back out into an unknown part of the galaxy."

"You're joking, right?"

"It may take us a little while to get our bearings. With luck, we'll be able to return to our own region of space without too much difficulty."

"I hope so. So I could tell Y/N I'm sorry..."

They look at Shadow, who is in the stasis chamber.

"But what'll we do about sleepyhead here?"

"Shadow needs some time to recover. He's still knocked out because he released all his energy before he transformed into Super Shadow, and now he's completely run down. I just hope it hasn't had any other interesting effects on him."

"Could he get his memory back?"

"Maybe."

Shadow slowly opens his eyes.

"What happened to me, Doctor?" he asked.

"You passed out, but you're fine." Eggman said.

"Did everybody else make it out safely? As well as Y/N?"

Eggman grins.

"You saved us all! Thanks to that ring on your wrist, you overpowered our enemies. And as for Y/N, I'm sure she's okay."

"...Really?"

Back at Blue Typhoon, Y/N and Cosmo are carrying piles of boxes. They approach each other at a corner and accidentally run into each other, causing them to drop the boxes.

"Oh, my! Sorry!" Y/N apologized.

Cosmo starts to restack her boxes.

"It was my fault! I should've looked where I was going."

Y/N helps Cosmo.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but I'm in a bit of a hurry. I'll talk to you later, okay?"

Cosmo hurries down the hall. Y/N notices a pink box on the ground.

"Huh?"

She picks it up and opens it. There is a flower inside.

"She must have dropped this when I bumped into her."

Elsewhere, the Chaotix are walking together.

"I can't believe Y/N caught you red-handed!" Vector exclaimed.

"And now she's getting suspicious of me..." Espio muttered.

Vector starts to think until something popped up.

"Guys, my new plan's sure to do the trick! Something Y/N will never know!"

"I'm afraid to ask what your plan entails. And I told you Y/N doesn't-"

"Well, it's still a work in progress."

Vector presses the button to open the door. Y/N runs past them. She doesn't see the Chaotix.

"Where's she goin'?"

Y/N enters another room. Cosmo is decorating a room. There is a stage with stage lights, and a sign that says 'THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!' Cosmo is on a ladder, trying to reach something. Y/N enters the room.

"Hey, Cosmo."

Cosmo turns around.

"Hi, Y/N."

Y/N comes closer and leans against the ladder.

"Why did you decide to throw a party for everybody?"

Cosmo smiles.

"I know fighting the Metarex can be exhausting, so I thought you all deserved to have a little bit of fun."

"Mind if I help?"

"Oh no. I have everything under control. Don't you have anymore work?"

"Nope. I'm all yours now."

"Then I'll take you up on your offer."

"Great! What would you like me to do?"

"Let me see..."

They are being watched by the Chaotix from outside the room.

"Oh no! I thought Cosmo wouldn't be involved!" Vector gasped.

"We should mind our own business." Espio recommended.

"We can't leave yet! You're completely clueless when it comes to this stuff, Espio. I'm just the one to make sure Tails wins that girl game, set, and match!"

He walks into the room.

"Ahem! Why, hello!"

"Oh. Hi, Vector." Y/N greeted.

"We were passin' by when we overheard ya talkin' about the surprise party. If you don't mind, we'd like to help out too!"

Espio and Charmy enter. Y/N raises her eyebrow at Espio who sweats with a nervous smile.

"Oh, thanks a lot." Cosmo thanked them.

"I'm not so sure this is a good idea..." Y/N said, eyeing each and everyone of the Chaotix.

Vector's attempts to get Y/N away from Cosmo, but it never seem to work as Y/N can clearly see him with just one look at his eyes. She has no idea what he was doing and just simply told him to get back to work.

"I told you! Your plan and everything backfires!" Espio whisper yelled. "It's very disrespectful to Y/N and I refuse to get her to be mad at me or see me as a troublemaker!"

"Man, how does she knew?! No wonder they call her the most cautious one out of everyone else!"

"Like you noticed it until now..." Espio deadpanned.

While they are still decorating, Y/N decides to talk to Espio who jumps in surprise.

"So... what were you trying to do?"

"Just... trying to intimidate you as Knuckles that's all..." Espio said with a half lie.

"Well, let me tell you one thing, Espio."

"Huh?"

Y/N turns to him with a smirk.

"You're a terrible actor!"

Espio's eyes widen in shock and disbelief. Y/N starts laughing at the look on his face. Vector and Charmy watched on with sweatdrop while Cosmo tilts her head in confusion with a hint of jealousy.

"I do not! I can intimidate someone that sounds exactly like everyone else!"

"Your voice needs some change if you're going to fool the villains in diguise. Knuckles does not sound as deep as you! And what did you do to his face? You know he's not going to be happy when he finds out."

"I know that... But I am a best actor I'll let you know."

"Suuuuuuurrreee...." Y/N rolled her eyes. "You can be funny sometimes, Espio."

Espio blushes, smiling that she finds him interesting and funny.

"Really?"

"Of course."

Meanwhile, the decorating is nearly finished.

"It looks great, Cosmo!" Y/N gave Cosmo thumbs up.

"I never would have finished without your help, Y/N." Cosmo smiled. "I really owe you."

"You don't have to thank me, Cosmo. I like being with you."

"Ah, really? ... Me too, Y/N. It's been fun to work together. We make a pretty good team. Don't you think so?"

"Yeah! Lights on, Espio."

Espio switches on the disco ball, and it casts its light around the room.

"Nice!"

"It's amazing! Now we have to figure out how to get everybody in here." Cosmo said.

"Hm... How should we do it?"

"We'll bring all your guests to the surprise party courtesy of the Chaotix Detective Agency!" Vector offered and they salute.

Y/N smiles and nods.

The Chaotix once again walk down a hall.

"Lemme see... How can we get the crew to the party?" Vector pondered.

"For starters, we could promise you won't be there." Espio remarked.

They are shocked to see that Knuckles is awake and walking with gritted teeth.

"If I ever run into those clowns again..."

He turns on the Chaotix.

"You messed up my face!"

He reveals his Shovel Claws.

"And now I'm gonna return the favor!"

The Chaotix back away.

"Hold on! I can explain!"

Knuckles didn't listen and yells, charging them.

"Let's go!"

Knuckles chases the Chaotix down the hall.

"Get back here!"

The Chaotix duck back into the party room. Knuckles opens the door, and doesn't even see the party.

"It's payback time!"

Knuckles attacks the Chaotix, damaging the party in the process. Sonic, Y/N, Tails, and Cosmo enter.

"Huh?! Wha?!" Y/N shouted in disbelief at the mess.

"What have you guys been doin' in here?" Sonic furrowed his eyebrow.

A moment later...

"Cosmo wanted to do something special for us, so she was gonna throws us a surprise party. I guess it's off now." Y/N informed.

"Whoops." Knuckles said, feeling bad.

"Do you hafta cancel the party?" Vector asked, feeling bad as well.

"Of course you don't! We don't need any fancy decorations to have a good time. All that matters is we're together." Sonic encouraged.

"You're right, bro!" Y/N smiled.

Party poppers are fired. Knuckles returns the favor of what was done to him earlier by painting Espio's face. Charmy, whose face was also painted, laughs. Y/N looks on shaking her head with a smile. Amy twirls around in a new floor-length dress.

"Well, Sonic, what do you think? Do you like my party dress?"

"You look gorgeous, Amy!" Cream spoke.

"Chao chao!" Cheese agreed.

"She's fine, I guess..." Y/N thought. "Not as gorgeous as my friend Sally. Though I wouldn't say it out loud to Amy or she'll kill me."

Amy approaches Sonic. 

"I wore this dress just for you. Now you can tell me how pretty I look. ... I know. You're too stunned for words."

Sonic sweats profusely, thinking about Sally instead of Amy in her beautiful blue dress.

Soon, everyone is seated at the party.

"So there I was, flushed down the sewer with no hope of escaping, except for my superior brainpower."

Espio and Charmy emerge and strike poses, causing everyone else to laugh. Y/N sees Cosmo standing by herself near the window. Y/N get up and approaches her.

"Hey, Cosmo?"

"Oh, hi, Y/N."

"It wasn't quite what we expected, but the party turned out great."

"I'm glad everybody's having a good time."

"Oh yeah! Here!"

Y/N hands Cosmo the flower she had dropped earlier.

"You dropped this before. I asked Tails to polish it up for you. I hope you don't mind."

Cosmo is overly delighted.

"I think it's just wonderful! Thank you so much!"

"I'm glad you like it!"

Her and Cosmo look back at the window.

"Beautiful aren't they?" Y/N asked.

"It's true; the stars are beautiful. I'm so happy right now. I feel like I could stand here staring at them forever." Cosmo said.

"Yeah."

"Hey, Sonic?" Vector asked. "Is Y/N trying to get everyone to fall in love with her?"

Sonic frowned.

"I don't know and I hope not. I'd rather not let anyone of them go near her... Especially you, Espio and Knuckles. I've got my eyes on you..."

Espio and Knuckles sweatdrops while Tails smiles happily that he's being approved by Sonic.
