Y/N is looking down at the limiters on her wrists. She couldn't believe that Shadow is alive, but he doesn't even remember her and that made her sad. She sighed and looked over to see Tails and Knuckles as well as Cosmo who opens her eyes with a gasp, shaken at the memory. Y/N wondered if she's okay and walked over to them. Tails is typing on his comlink.

"My comlink's indicating that there's a Chaos Emerald nearby, but it won't pinpoint where exactly."

Chris is flying the X-Tornado.

"Could be this one's buried way underground where it's hard to get to. Just means we're all gonna have to work a little harder to find it, that's all."

"Well, let's not all stand here twiddling our thumbs. Let's look for this thing!" Knuckles said.

The Comm cuts to Sonic, who is also aboard the X-Tornado.

"Yeah! Move it down there, will ya?"

Tails, Y/N, and Knuckles look up to see the X-Tornado fly overhead. Cream is also inside the X-Tornado, waving at them.

"Good luck, everybody! Be careful, okay?"

Tails and Y/N waves back. Cosmo, however, looks sad.

"Poor Cosmo... I wish we could cheer her up somehow."

"Chao chao..." Cheese said.

Sonic doesn't know what to say.

"It's not easy when your family's not around. In fact, it's just about the loneliest feeling in the world." Chris said.

Sonic though did notice that Y/N is sad by the look in her eyes, knowing it's because of Shadow who doesn't remember her.

Y/N, Tails, Knuckles, and Cosmo walk through an abandoned stone city.

"Why do I have a sneaking suspicion the Metarex have been here too? This place gives me the creeps."

"This place does look destroyed after all." Y/N said, looking around.

"Yup. Just another sad ex-planet." Knuckles agreed.

Y/N and Cosmo stop, the latter looking around.

"Look around. Families lived here once. Children played all day without a care in the world. They didn't know what was coming. Now they're all gone, just like Mother, and Galaxina, and they'll never come back!"

She looks at Y/N, who gives her a sympathetic look.

"Sometimes I miss them so much."

"I'm sure they miss you, too, Cosmo. The way I see it, I bet they are watching over you right now."

"How would know?"

Y/N pointed to Cosmo's chest.

"In here."

Cosmo felt touched at such kindness and care Y/N is giving her as if she's trying to lift her spirit up and it's working. Tails, who is looking at his comlink turns to the girls.

"What are you two talking about?"

"Nothing. Just cheering her up." Y/N said with a smile.

"Take a look at this, Tails!"

Y/N, Cosmo, and Tails join Knuckles. They look down into what appears to be a bottomless dropoff.

"This has to be at least a mile deep!"

Tails opens his comlink, and a blip indicating a Chaos Emerald appears.

"This is it, you guys. The Chaos Emerald's down there somewhere."

Soon Tails flies Cosmo down the cliff, while Y/N and Knuckles climbs down. Cosmo sees a cave opening below them.

"Look! The cave!"

They stop their downward progress.

"You two go check it out." Knuckles said.

"We're on it." Tails nodded.

He lowers Cosmo to the cave opening before landing there. Y/N not too long landed on the cave and looked up at Knuckle.

"Just go, I'll catch up."

"Okay."

Y/N went after Tails and Cosmo and light up the cave with her crystal.

"Thanks, Y/N." Cosmo said, looking around the cave.

She was just walking by when she accidentally touches a certain part of the wall, and quickly withdraws her hand.

"Cosmo?" Y/N asked in concern.

"What's the matter?" Tails asked.

"I'm not sure; it felt like some kind of—"

Suddenly, the entire ground shakes and cracks, separating Tails, Y/N, and Cosmo. Rocks begin to fall.

"Y/N!" Tails shouted and tackled Y/N with Cosmo following his lead.

He accidentally send all three of them falling into a pit. Knuckles finishes descending to see that the mouth of the cave is blocked off.

"Tails! Cosmo! Y/N!"

Tails opens her eyes to see Y/N and Cosmo looking at him in concern.

"Tails? Tails? You okay?"

"Please be okay..."

Tails sits up.

"What happened?"

He rubs his sore head.

"Don't touch your head. You're hurt." Y/N warned him.

"I-I'm feelin' kinda dizzy..."

Tails looks up at the open space above him.

"Strange... I remember walking inside the cave, and then hearing this rumbling and I must have passed out."

Cosmo looked down in shame.

"It's my fault. If I hadn't touched that thing, then none of this would have happened."

"Cosmo, it happens." Y/N assured her.

"Yeah, don't feel bad, Cosmo. We'll tell Chris where we are and then we'll start lookin' around."

Tails opens his comlink.

"What if the Metarex are in here?"

"Chris, Amy, do you read me?"

But there is no signal; only static.

"No good. We must have lost our connection."

"I'm sorry." Cosmo apologized again.

"Hey, don't worry about it. We'll find the way out." Y/N said, before lighting up the area with her crystal again.

Thanks to that light, Tails managed to see his comlink as he presses a button, and sees that the Chaos Emerald is closer than before.

"We're still getting a reading, so the Emerald's gotta be down here somewhere. Let's go!"

Y/N was about to follow him when she noticed her hand glowed white as her crystal started acting up. She slowly turned to Tails who's about to move forward as she realized what it was doing.

"Hold on, Tails."

"Huh?" Tails asked, turning to her as well as Cosmo.

Y/N stepped closer to Tails surprising him and without warning, she placed her hand on his sore head and it started to glow. Y/N had her eyes closed as she focused on her magic. Tails and Cosmo had to close their eyes at such bright light. Once the light died down as the crystal still glows but from a medium light. Tails opened his eyes and touched his head to feel no longer sore.

"I-I'm all better!"

"Wow! What a wonderful power you wield to heal Tails!" Cosmo gasped.

"I didn't know I can do that..." Y/N said in shock, looking at her hands.

"Thanks, Y/N." Tails said, blushing.

"You're welcome." Y/N smiled, patting his head.

Soon, Y/N, Tails, and Cosmo are walking together through the dark cavern.

"You know, I really have to upgrade this thing when we get outta here. Like maybe add some type of software that allows you to cut through subterranean rock formations."

"Sure thing."

"Uh-huh..."

"I mean, sure, it would make it a lot easier to find hidden Chaos Emeralds. Plus, we'd have the ability to send digitized contact signals to and from wherever we might me. Even if we're underground or outer space in some secret hi-tech laboratory somewhere. Yeah, all I have to is upload a new transformer and reprogram the main..." he trails off.

"I'm so frightened... Mother would know what to do." Cosmo said.

"Cosmo?"

Cosmo looks up to see Y/N staring at her.

"You okay?"

"Huh? Just daydreaming." she lied.

Y/N frowned and was about to say something when several fireflies begin to fly up around them.

"Hey look, Y/N and Cosmo! Like some kind of fireflies or something!"

Cosmo stares in wonder as the fireflies fly down a passage. Y/N though starts having a suspicion about those flying creatures. There's no way fireflies live in a different planet and the only planet those fireflies live is in Earth. Something's not right.

"I wonder where they're going?"

"Yeah, let's follow 'em." Tails suggested.

"I don't know, you guys. Something's wrong."

But Tails and Cosmo already race after the fireflies down the passage. Y/N sighed and ran after them until she manage to catch up as they had stopped.

"Huh? Whoa!" Tails gasped.

Y/N looked up to see the fireflies fly up to a place where there appears to be a giant metal building - something unexpected this far underground.

Meanwhile, outside the cave, using the Shovel Claws, Knuckles is pounding his way through the blocked cave entrance.

"There's a whole avalanche worth of rocks in here. Something must have jarred tham all loose."

Sonic, Cream, Cheese, and Amy look on as they had came not too long after receiving an emergency call from him.

"Just listen to him showing off with those big silly gloves of his." Amy commented.

"Say what you will, but I have faith in Knuckles. You should too." Cream assured her.

Chris uses his comlink to project a holo-scan of the area.

"I'm using the infrared movement tracker, but I can't seem to get a reading from anywhere. It looks like a system of interconnected caves."

Sonic walks up to him.

"And I'm guessing there's gotta be more than one way down there." Chris continued.

"So while Knuckles is busy boulderizing, we can snoop around for a bit." Amy suggested.

"Let's hurry. It must be awful spooky in that place. I don't like to think of them down there." Cream agreed.

"Chao chao..." Cheese said.

"Cheer up! We'll find 'em!" Sonic winked and gave them thumbs up. "They have my sis so they'll be okay."

The fireflies fly in front of the front door. Several Metarex Vipers patrol the halls as Y/N, Tails, and Cosmo carefully peer around the corner.

"Metarex..." Y/N glared at them.

"This is a nightmare..." Cosmo whimpered.

"I think we're having a same bad dream."

Ducking back, Tails checks his comlink for the Chaos Emerald.

"The Chaos Emerald is located somewhere in this complex."

He closes the comlink.

"You too, ready?" Y/N asked, bringing out her whip.

Tails and Cosmo nods. They run down the halls and through other passages and corridors, trying to stay out of the way of the Vipers. They enter another room which contains giant tubes. There are Chaos Emeralds inside each tube.

"A whole room full of Emeralds..." Cosmo gasped.

"What the heck? Why are there more Emeralds? Shouldn't there be only seven emeralds?" Y/N asked.

They examine one of the tubes. There is strange writing on the top and bottom of the tube. Cosmo gasps and runs to another part of the room.

"It's some kind of... manufacturing plant."

Tails and Y/N joins her.

"This must be the real one. They're feeding off it somehow."

The white Chaos Emerald rests in a tube in the middle of the room.

"So they'll all have the same kind of power. This explains the counterfeit one that Metarex had on Planet Breezy." Tails concluded.

"No wonder they look the same. They're all fake." Y/N said.

There is a flashback of Metarex Crystal and the red Chaos Emerald he was holding.

"You're right. It looked so real it fooled all of us. And now there's a whole factory full of them!"

The flashback ends.

"Why would they be doing this?"

"I don't know. It's weird. But if I can hack into their computer systems somehow, we just may be able to find an answer."

Tails types on a computer, and writing in another language appears.

"Some kind of strange code... I can't decipher it."

Cosmo is able to read the Metarex writing.

"It says here 'Operation Duplicate', with a list of key Chaos Emeralds components. Let's see... 'Stabilized energy... 93% compression rate... distillation of properties...'"

Tails and Y/N are astonished that Cosmo can read the Metarex writing.

"You mean you can read this?"

"Only some. But I'm not all that familiar with a lot of the more technical data. I wish I could help more..." Cosmo frowned.

"What? That's not true, Cosmo. You helped a lot. You even help us read this strange writing that could help us learn the information of the Metarex's plans. You're smart." Y/N smiled, patting her shoulder in comfort.

"She's right. Now let's download this information right away!"

Tails soon connects a cord to the computer and downloads the information onto his comlink. "Now loading" appears on the screen.

"We'll look at the data when we get back to the Blue Typhoon. Will you help me translate?"

"Sure, I'd love to!... It's the least I can do after the mess I've gotten you two into."

"Cosmo, we wouldn't have discovered all of this if it weren't for you." Y/N reassured her, making Cosmo blush.

"Aahh... Intruders!"

They turn to see a Metarex Viper approaching them.

"Cosmo, get the real Emerald!" Y/N shouted, gripping onto her whip.

Tails retracts his cord.

"I will teach you not to trespass! You're not wanted here. Stay away from there!"

The Viper lunges toward them. Cosmo struggles to open the door, but finally does and retrieves the white Chaos Emerald. Y/N threw her whip towards Viper and wrap around it as Tails disconnects the giant power cord, causing sparks to fly. He thrusts it into Viper's mouth, shorting it out.

"Nice one, Tails!"

Y/N retracts her whip and her, Tails, and Cosmo flee the room.

Elsewhere in the Metarex base, an alarm goes off, and a red alarm light flashes.

"Attention! Intruders have removed the Chaos Emerald. They must not escape!"

Four Vipers take off. The Viper that was shorted out types on a console, pulling up a map of where the Chaos Emerald is.

"The Chaos Emerald will show exactly where they're hiding. How convenient." Viper laughed.

In the cave, several Vipers swim through the water. Cosmo carefully looks around from behind a rock. She ducks back down.

"I hate to say it, Tails and Y/N, but I think the Emerald is leading them straight to us!"

"I've got a plan."

Tails releases several fireflies from his hands that he picked up from the ground.

"I knew there was something wrong with these fireflies." Y/N said, glaring at the fireflies.

"What do you mean?" Cosmo asked.

"They're tiny robots powered by the energy of Chaos Emeralds. Same components and everything." Tails explained.

Cosmo watches the fireflies fly through the cave.

"Tails, you're a genius!"

"Heck yeah, he is!"

Tails blushes.

Back in Metarex base, countless blips begin appearing on the screen.

"Impossible!"

Y/N, Tails, and Cosmo continue their trek through a large cavern.

"We'll be safe now that we threw off the Metarex, and we'll be outta here in no time!"

"Sure."

"Right."

Cosmo looks at the light of the white Chaos Emerald she is holding.

"We'll be okay."

She remembers the giant tree on board the spaceship that was attacked.

"The light... It reminds me of how Mother made me feel, like nothing bad could happen. It's just so bright... and warm... and loving..."

Y/N looks at Cosmo.

"Yeah, I guess Chaos Emeralds have that effect on folks. You know, it's kind of interesting. You could be in the worst kind of danger, but once you hold a Chaos Emerald in your hand, you'll feel a lot safer." Tails explained.

"When I was a young girl, my older sister Galaxina used to tell me the legend of the Chaos Emeralds. And... I used to dream that one day, I would hold one in my hand and feel all of its magical power."

"A power that is greatest when it is used by those who are pure in heart and intention."

"I don't understand."

"What Tails mean is, its power depends on those who use it, you see. Like the crystal necklace I am wearing. Somehow it chose me and it had given me power to protect those close to me. I use it for good intention."

"Yeah, like Sonic, for instance." Tails added.

A shot of Sonic and Y/N fighting Perfect Chaos is shown.

"Both Sonic and Y/N can only use them for good, so only good can come of it. But then there are those like the Metarex or Dr. Eggman who uses it for purposes of evil. That's when the power changes into something dark and destructive."

Cosmo stops.

"Cosmo?" Y/N asked.

"What's the matter?" Tails asked.

She holds the Chaos Emerald out to Y/N.

"Oh, Y/N, Tails, I'm not worthy to be touching the Chaos Emerald. Please take it away from me!"

Y/N hesitates and takes the Emerald.

"Why, Cosmo?"

Cosmo gets teary.

"Because my soul is built up of nothing but sadness and hatred. Hatred for those monsters who destroyed my planet..."

She starts to break down.

"...and to claim my family, and my friends, and everything else that was precious, and left me all alone..."

Y/N and Tails feels compassion.

"There is no way any good comes from me. I will only bring you evil and disaster!"

"Cosmo..." Y/N said sadly.

Suddenly a Metarex Viper's tail whips into Tails, throwing him into the cave wall and causing him to drop his comlink.

"Tails!" Y/N and Cosmo exclaimed.

Cosmo ran to Tails' side as Y/N stood in front of them protectively, glaring at Viper.

"Give me the Chaos Emerald!"

"No way!"

Y/N grips onto the white Chaos Emerald.

"Go Cosmo! Take Tails to safety!"

"But I can't leave you here!"

"Don't worry. I got this! This is for your own safety."

"I..."

"Perhaps you should listen to your friend." Viper laughed.

They soon find themselves surrounded by Vipers. Y/N scoffed, starting to power herself from the Chaos Emerald. Tails tries to stand, but feels a little weary. Y/N brought out her sword after she was on full power and destroys all the Vipers in one single slash that surround her and her friends. She kicked off the Metarex Viper that's the leader, knocking him against the cave wall.

"Stop them!"

They were about to run when more Vipers came. Y/N was about to fight them again when suddenly, Tails' abandoned comlink crackles to life.

"Tails! Y/N! Cosmo! Do you read me?"

The Vipers look at each other in confusion.

"Yeah!"

"Hurry! They've got us!" Tails shouted.

The word "Contact" appears on the comlink's screen.

"Not for long, buddy!"

Suddenly, Sonic spins in and takes out several Metarex Vipers.

"Who dares help the enemy?"

"I dare!"

Amy appears and destroys the Viper with her hammer. It is promptly buried under some rocks. Y/N lands in front of Cosmo and Tails.

"You two okay?"

"Sure, I'm fine."

"Pretty good so far."

"Man, that was close."

Chris, Cream, and Cheese also drop in from above.

"Hey, you three."

"Chao chao."

"You really are lifesavers, you know that?" Tails said.

"Well... yeah." Amy said.

"Thank goodness you're safe! Now that the monsters are all gone, then we can all go home." Cream smiled in relief.

"That's right, Cream." Cosmo agreed.

Suddenly, the Metarex Viper that Amy attacked emerges from the rocks.

"Not so fast. Don't let them get away!"

Two other Vipers join in.

"Bring it on! We're ready for ya!" Amy declared.

"You think you can stop us?" Y/N asked.

"You want some more of this, huh?" Sonic asked.

Both Sonic and Y/N charges toward the Vipers.

"Get him!" Chris cheered.

"Get him, Sonic and Y/N!" Cream cheered.

One of the Vipers leaps over to the hedgehog siblings, only to be spun into from behind. Amy hammers three petrified Vipers into the wall. Even Cream gets into the action by throwing Cheese at three other Vipers.

"Chaaao!"

Cosmo looks on in amazement. Even Chris, who is not capable of physical combat, reflects light off of his comlink to damage two other Vipers.

"See, Cosmo? Nothing but good can come when you help your friends." Tails said.

"Right." Cosmo smiled.

"Let's go."

Cosmo nods. However, there is still another Metarex Viper left.

"Sonic and Y/N, I will destroy you."

"Oh really now?" Y/N smirked.

"Just try!" Sonic smirked.

"You might need this if we're going to fight them off together."

Y/N brought out the white Chaos Emerald to Sonic. He grins.

"Let's do this."

The Viper sweatdrops as Sonic and Y/N both places their hand on the Chaos Emerald and uses the power.

"Hahaha! Bye-bye!"

"Adios!!"

Everything whites out.

Everyone is now gathered outside the Typhoon. Chris is looking at the data Tails collected from the Metarex's base.

"You know, I have a feeling whatever's on here might put an end to their Planet Egg plot once and for all."

"Maybe the code will tell us where all the Planet Egg are hidden, and we can save the galaxy." Cream said.

"Chao chao!" Cheese agreed.

"That's right! Good thing we have our brilliant translator with us." Amy smiled at Cosmo.

"Huh? Well... Thanks, Amy, but... I feel like I put you all in danger today."

"Don't be silly, Cosmo. We're all used to dangerous things. It's what we do." Y/N said, patting Cosmo on the head once more and making her blush again.

"She's right though." Tails agreed, smiling at her.

"Danger is our middle name!" Cream added.

"Chao chao!" Cheese said.

Y/N winks at Cosmo as she looks surprised and cannot believe her luck.

"Well, let's get going, you guys." Chris suggested.

"We still got plenty of Metarex to mangle!" Amy added.

"That's right, and thanks to our friend Cosmo, this time we'll be way ahead of 'em. Right, gang?" Tails said.

Chris, Tails, Amy, Cream, and Cosmo fist-pump with a yell.

"Yeah!!"

Y/N smiled at the scene, looking at everyone. She stopped to notice someone is missing.

"Hey, guys. Where's Knuckles??"

As if on cue, Knuckles emerges from underground.

"Finally!"

He looks around.

"They must be around here somewhere."

That's when he sees everyone.

"Huh? Hey, where did you guys come from?"

Everyone but Knuckles burst into laughter.

"What's so funny? They can't stop laughing long enough to get me out of here? Hey, come on! I mean it! Get me outta here, guys!" he shouted.

No one prevail to help him out until Y/N finally calm down as everyone is still laughing. She walks over to Knuckles and pulls him out of the ground.

"Okay, okay. Sorry! It's just you just pop out of the ground like a mole! That kinda makes you look cute!" Y/N said, chuckling.

Knuckles blushes that she just called him cute.

"She thinks I'm cute? Yes!" He cheered in his mind.

Elsewhere, Dark Oak is sitting in his command chair, looking at a monitor.

"Good. They have fallen for the bait."

Several fireflies fly out of a vent - the same kind that were in the caves.

"Soon, they and that fool Eggman will be back, clutching Chaos Emeralds in their greedy little hands. And then, when they least expect it, I'll strike."

He pinches a firefly, destroying it.

"How perfect. One day they will know the true extent of my power, but by then it will be too late!"
