"Freedom fever is spreading wild as fans of Sonic and Y/N the Hedgehog embrace the new Freedom Movement, adopting the carefree lifestyle of their heroes." Scarlet narrated through the news.

Sonic and Y/N makes the covers of various magazines as people chant "Freedom!".

"It seems like the entire planet is caught up in the craze!"

A shot of two people wearing Sonic-themed and Y/N-themed clothes is shown before cutting to Sonic running and Y/N rocket roller skating again.

"The International Track and Field Association reports that runners around the world are setting new records every day."

Outside the Thorndyke Mansion, Decoe is clipping the hedges, and Bocoe is sweeping the trimmings.

"I love working for the Thorndyke family. Now the only thing we have to attack is crabgrass!" Bocoe smiled.

"Plus we get weekends off! Eggman never gave us free time except the time he made us work for free." Decoe added.

Chris arrives. He is wearing his backpack.

"Hey, how's it going, you guys?"

"Hello, Christopher!"

"Welcome home!"

"Your parents just arrived back here a few minutes ago."

"Great! Where are they?"

"In the backyard. They are extremely eager to see you!"

"Thanks, guys!"

Chris runs inside.

"What a nice kid." Bocoe said.

"It is hard to believe that a few days ago we were trying to destroy him." Decoe said.

"I guess we should get back to work."

"Right! We still have to fill in that ditch we dug earlier."

Tanaka, who is walking nearby, slips. Meanwhile, Nelson and Lindsey, who are wearing Freedom shirts, are grilling. Ella, Chris, Amy, and Cream are setting the tables. Chuck is stirring soup. Ella walks over as Nelson hold up some slightly burnt meat.

"Oh, uh, no thank you, sir. There might not be enough to go around." Ella sweatdropped.

"Nonsense, Ella. We have more than enough." Nelson assured.

"That's... great."

"I know you love good food, so I expect to see you back for seconds."

Nelson serves Ella some of the meat, and she cringes a little.

"When I heard all my employee were taking time off because of this freedom fad, I thought I'd take a little free time too."

"Christopher is thrilled that you'll be spending more time here, and so am I."

"I never realized what a burden stardom is until I joined the freedom movement." Lindsey said.

"Go Freedom!" Nelson and Lindsey shouted.

"Alright!"

"My shish kebabs are done, so get ready, gang! They're gonna knock you out!"

"I just hope the medics will be able to revive us." Chuck said, cringing.

Chris, Amy, and Cream giggle. Tanaka walks in. He too is wearing a freedom shirt underneath his vest.

"Professor Thorndyke. The President is on the telephone for you."

"Thank you."

Chuck gets up and heads for the phone.

"What's that? ... You're giving the go-ahead to Project Homebound? ... I'll need some time to prepare. ... Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."

With a sad expression, he hangs up and sits on the couch in silence.

Somewhere in Arizona. Sam Speed is chasing another speeder.

"Some of these freedom freaks think they've got the right to break the speed limit. Every day, some joker blasts down the highway to challenge the S-Team. There's only one racer who outraces me."

He has a flashback of when Sonic ran past him with Y/N by his side at the speed of sound.

"A sonic boom? He's moving faster than the speed of sound!"

The flashback ends.

"I never imagined a hotshot hedgehog and I would become buddies."

He looks back up at his target.

"Sonic's the only real competition I've got. This clown doesn't even know what speeding means!"

Sam spoke out over the loudspeaker.

"Pull over, pal! Don't make more trouble for yourself; it's not worth it."

"He ain't catchin' me."

Speeder floors the gas and drives faster. The chase continues. The speeder adjusts his rearview mirror, which causes him to lose control of the car.

"Slow down!"

The speeder panics as he sees a sharp turn in the road. He breaks through the safety barrier, and his car falls. Sam stops his car and gets out.

"Oh, great..."

Sam runs to the edge of the road, but there is nothing he can do. Suddenly, Sonic and Y/N shows up and quickly frees the speeder from the car right before it smashes front-first with the ground and explodes Sonic and Y/N lands behind Sam and places the speeder down.

"Sonic!" Sam exclaimed and turned to Y/N. "Hey, Y/N!"

"Hey, Sam. How are things on the highway?" Sonic greeted while Y/N waved at Sam.

Sam removes his helmet.

"Same stuff. I'm still showin' these showoffs who rules the road. I was about to go on my coffee break, but now that you're here..."

Sam runs back to his car, and Sonic and Sam take off.

"Boys..." Y/N sighed, shaking her head.

"Hey, what am I supposed to do, crawl home?" Speeder asked.

"Sorry, bud I would like to help, but that puts you in a situation. Take that as a lesson to never go over the speed limit. I gotta go and visit Hikaru." she said and rocket skated away, leaving him covered in dust she made.

In Chris' room, Chris is sitting at his desk and looking up at the moon - the Egg Moon. A writing pad is in front of him.

"This essay's really tough. I'm not sure what my dream is... My... dream... I know!"

He starts writing.

"My dream is to help my friend Sonic make the world a better place. If I can just do that, I'll be happy. ...Huh... That sounds way too corny.

He crumples the paper and tosses it at the garbage can. He misses. Just then he hears a splash in the pool outside. He heads to the window and opens the curtain.

"Sonic! Y/N!"

He has a flashback of when he rescued Sonic from the pool with the help of Y/N.

"I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog!"

"And I'm his sister Y/N. Y/N the Hedgehog!"

He stops, surprised at what he sees. It isn't Sonic and Y/N in the pool.

"How are you doin', fella?"

This time, it's an actual cat that fell in the pool. Having climbed out, it meows and shakes the water off of itself. Chris looks worriedly back toward the house.

Chuck, Tails, Nelson, Lindsey, Christina, and the woman are gathered in the living room. Chuck shakes the woman's hand.

"This is Dr. Kim Bickley. She's a physicist from the National Science Institute."

"Nice to meet you all."

They all sat down and what Kim said shocked everyone.

"But how can time stop? That's impossible!" Nelson exclaimed.

"I'm afraid it is possible." Chuck said.

"Some time in the distant past, our world and Sonic's and Y/N's were one and the same." Kim continued. "Then a mysterious even divided them in two. Each world suddenly had its own timeline. They now inhabited parallel universes, unaware of the other's existence.  The two worlds are beginning to join again, and the two separate timeline will soon start to join together as well."

"But how can you prove this theory is true?" Nelson asked.

"It's not a theory. Even as we speak, the two timelines are converging. Soon they'll meld completely, and when they do, they'll cancel each other out, and time will stand still. The result will be catastrophic. The rejoined planets will be frozen in time while billions of years will pass in the rest of the universe."

"Once the timelines are fused, the effects will be irreversible." Christina added.

"So we'll be stuck in time?" Lindsey asked.

"That's right. When time stops, there's no such thing as the future or the past. None of us will grow older, and we won't be able to change, either." Chuck confirmed, arms crossed.

"Oh, my. Is there anything we can do?"

"I've made some calculations. If they're correct, there's a slim chance we can prevent the timelines from coming together. But we have to act immediately, or it'll be too late." Kim informed.

"The President has just signed an executive order directing all his staff to gather all the Chaos Emeralds together." Christina added.

"You mean the President wants us to cause Chaos Control?" Tails asked, looking surprised.

"Our only hope to save both worlds is to send you and Sonic and the others back home." Chuck said.

Nelson and Lindsey look at each other, concerned. Just then a vase shatters. The others turn to see that it was Chris who shattered it. He is not happy.

"They're not gonna send Sonic and Y/N back home."

He approaches them. Lindsey and Nelson stand up.

"Chris!"

"You've been listening?"

"Yes, I have. I heard it all. And I don't care what the President says. It's good that Sonic and Y/N are here."

A few shots of Chris and Sonic and Y/N are shown, starting with the first time he saw the hedgehog siblings since the destruction of the E-99 Eggsterminator.

"Sonic... Y/N... They always help people when they're in trouble."

A shot of Sonic helping Helen is shown and a shot of Chris playing Y/N's song to cheer everyone up for those that are awaiting for Sonic's and Y/N's arrival at the party.

"They saved Station Square when it was attacked by the Chaos Monster."

"Don't you remember? This whole planet would have been wrecked if Sonic and Y/N as well as Shadow hadn't come to the rescue!"

A shot of Sonic, Y/N, and Shadow Chaos Controlling Space Colony ARK back into orbit, and Station Square celebrating, is shown.

"Sonic and Y/N are staying here!! If they go away, you'll be sorry!!" Chris shouted.

The others look at him in stunned silence.

"Sorry, Chris. We're in danger. It's not Sonic's fault, but he and the others have got to go back. Our whole future depends on it." Chuck said sadly.

Chris covers his head as angst builds in him.

"You're wrong!!"

"Are you sure?" Lindsey asked worriedly.

"Dr. Eggman must be behind this! He's fooling everybody to get rid of Sonic and Y/N!"

"Chris may be right." Nelson spoke. "This could be one of Eggman's trick."

"We can't wish this problem away, Chris." Chuck said.

Chris is surprised.

"I know it's hard to hear, but the time has come to say goodbye. Sonic and Y/N must return to their world. There's no other choice."

Chris grabs his head again.

"You can't send them away! I won't let you!"

Tails is surprised as Chris dashes from the room.

"Honey!"

"Chris, wait!"

But he has already left. Silence fills the room.

"I never saw him this upset." Tails said with a frown expression.

"I know exactly how he feels." Chuck said.

Chris is seen running for the front door.

"I'm upset about this too."

Chuck bends down to Tails' level.

"If time were to stop, I wouldn't have to grow older anymore. I'd have forever to research and make new discoveries."

He places his hands on Tails' shoulders.

"Why, just think of all the marvelous things you and I could build. We can tinker in our workshop for all eternity."

He removes his hands.

"It sounds wonderful, but it's a trap."

He walks toward the door.

"In a world where time has stopped completely, the pursuit of scientific knowledge would be ultimately meaningless."

Tails follows him. Chuck stops in front of the broken vase.

"We'd never be able to use our knowledge to make real progress."

He picks up one of the fragments of the vase.

"Every day would be the same. I think you'll agree that a world where nothing ever changes would be a boring place to live."

Tails and Chuck pick up the vase pieces.

"I'll miss you, my friend."

Tails smiles at Chuck.

Chris is running away from the mansion.

"This has to be a trick! Eggman has to be doing all this!!"

He crashes through the hedge next to the outside gate. Tanaka sees him.

"Chris, no!"

Meanwhile, Y/N was helping Hikaru strap the out the safety gears on his elbows and knees with a helmet on his head. He's wearing a regular roller skates with rockets that are strapped.

"Are you sure you want to do this, Hikaru? It could be dangerous. Good thing I made sure that rocket is medium and not too fast."

"I'm sure! I really wanna do this!"

"Okay... But just once alright. You'll one day ride on these when you're older."

"Don't worry! I will grow up!" Hikaru smiled.

Y/N chuckled and finished buckling the gears on Hikaru.

"Alright, done. Are you ready for this?"

"Ready as I'll ever be!"

"Just take my hand and I'll make sure you stay by my side."

"Promise?"

"Promise." Y/N smiled.

Her and Hikaru bend their knees a bit as the rockets behind their skates turned on. Hikaru held her hand tight before they blasted off. Y/N looked at him as his face brightened in excitement as he let out a cheerful yell. She then started singing as they skate through the road where the bridge is. (Play music)

As she sings, Y/N decided to do something a little more fun by bringing out her crystal necklace and activating it, making him start floating in the air. Hikaru let out a surprised gasp as they skated through the air. Hikaru slowly let go of her hand, getting a hang of this. He then did some moves before landing safely as Y/N made sure he doesn't trip. They both jumped over the building with a flip. Hikaru looked down in awe to see a wonderful view of the city with lights. This is a perfect memory for him to remember. But that will be the last time they have fun together.

Y/N picked him up and held him up in the air. He brought out two arms up to his sides in a T-pose while she skates. She looked down to see the slide from the construction area. Y/N brought him back down and pointed down there for Hikaru to see. She looked at him and he fastily nodded. They then fly down the slide after Y/N deactivated her crystal power. Once they landed, they are now sliding down towards the end where the fence are. Y/N smirked and grabbed his hand again before activating the kanagaroo jump from her roller skates as they hop over the tallest fence. They are now back in the city through the road. Y/N started skating backwards with a grin. Hikaru tried to do the same but he ended up going back to skating forward.

After a long skating, they finally made it back to Hikaru's house. Y/N and Hikaru laughed at each other, knowing they had fun.

"Thanks for teaching me how to skate. I already started to feel fast as you and Sonic!"

"No problem. I'm glad you had a good time."

"Hey, just wanted to let you know, you'll always be my cool friend I ever have." he said and hugged her.

Y/N smiled and hugged him back.

"And you'll always be my cute rascal friend."

"Hey! I'm not a rascal!" he pouted, making her laugh.

"Hikaru! Dinnertime!" Hikaru's mom called.

"Oh! I gotta go. See you, Y/N!"

"See you, Hikaru."

As Hikaru ran inside his home, Y/N then left with a wave.

Back to Chris alongside Decoe and Bocoe who decided to help him as they are leading him to Eggman's base. They enter and Eggman turns around in his seat.

"Oh... It's you."

He turns back around in his seat.

"I knew you come groveling to get your jobs back but it's too late!"

Chris enters while Eggman maps out sketches.

"Eggman!"

"So you brought me a prisoner? If you're trying to buy me off, I congratulate you."

Eggman chuckles. Chris approaches Eggman.

"They brought me here 'cause I asked 'em to!"

"Huh?"

"You're doing this! You're the one who's making time come to a stop!"

Eggman raises his eyebrow.

"Who, me?"

"It's a trick to make them send Sonic and Y/N to their world! It won't work! I'll make you tell everybody the truth!"

Chris tells his story to a shocked Eggman.

"That plan isn't that bad."

He stands up and laughs.

"You figured out my scheme, kid. I despise Sonic and Y/N so much that I decided to bring time to a standstill, then I tricked this world scientific experts into believing that Sonic and Y/N had be sent back! Now that you caught me, I'll confess."

Chris seems somewhat relieved.

"I'm not kidding, Eggman! You better make time go back to normal or else!"

"Or else you'll throw a temper tantrum? Face it, kid. Without Sonic and Y/N here to back you up, your threats are as hollow as your head." Eggman mocked.

"Oh yeah?!"

Chris charges toward Eggman, but is restrained by Decoe and Bocoe. Chris struggles

"Please Chris! Fighting will not help!" Decoe pleaded.

"Look kid, I didn't cause this time freeze problem." Eggman strokes mustache. "If your grandfather creates Chaos Control, I'm gonna get sent back too."

Eggman heads back to his seat.

"I can't build my empire in a world where time is stopped completely! There's no future in it! I have no choice but to go back. That's the truth, kid." he said and sat down.

Eggman's hench-bots let go of Chris.

"I don't believe you. ...Liar! You're trying to trick me!"

Eggman goes back to his work.

"You're the one who lying... to yourself. You don't want to accept the truth. Deep down, you know once Sonic and Y/N are gone, your life will have to go back to the way it was before. Your days of adventure are at an end, boy. Just like your friendship with those two hyper annoying hedgehogs. All your dreams have been shattered, haven't they? Life is like that, kiddo. Take it from somebody who knows. Whenever you reach too high, life smacks you down."

He slaps his compass against the palm of his hand. As silence fills the room, Chris feels a combination of anger and sadness.

"But on the bright side, at least you and I won't have to see each other ever again."

As reality sets in, Chris' hands ball into fists. Eggman is not behind this! Tears spring into his eyes, and he runs out of the base.

"Wait, Chris!" Decoe exclaimed.

"Let him go."

The others look at him in surprise.

"So long. kid."

Meanwhile, Chris runs back through the forest.

"No! It has to be a lie!"

Chris stops at a cliff where he can overlook Station Square. He looks up at the Egg Moon.

Thorndyke Mansion. In the living room, Nelson is pacing the floor.

"I just can't stand waiting! I wish we could do something!"

"Are you sure allowing Chris to see Eggman was a good idea?" Lindsey asked worriedly.

"I'll hire a team of commandos to find him!"

"That's absurd!" Chuck objected.

Just then Chris runs in through the door. He looks happier.

"Chris!" Chris' parents exclaimed.

"Hi, guys."

Everyone gathers around him. Tails runs in.

"Hi, Chris!"

"Sorry I ran away."

"We're just happy you're safe, son." Nelson said.

"Why Chris, you're freezing!" Lindsey gasped.

"What he needs is a nice hot bowl of my chicken soup." Ella suggested.

"Thanks, Ella." Nelson thanked.

"I'll go get cooking!"

Ella runs out of the room.

"Feel okay, son? Why don't you sit down."

"Okay."

Chris nods and sits on the couch.

"Let's go. We still have a lot of work to do." Chuck said as he and Tails head upstairs.

"We still have to find two more Chaos Emeralds." Tails informed.

"The government's searching too, but even if they're found, we may not be able to build a machine to initiate Chaos Control."

"I bet we can figure something out, Chuck."

"It looks like you'll have to stay here a little longer, though."

Chris enters his room. Nelson and Lindsey are in the doorway.

"You can sleep in tomorrow if you want."

"Okay, thanks."

"Night, son."

"Goodnight."

He shuts the door, and Chris puts his ear to the door. He runs to the window and looks up at the sky.

"Sonic... Y/N..."

Sonic is running through the mountains. He stops when he thinks he hears someone calling him.

"Huh? Chris?"

But there is nothing.

"Guess I imagined it."

But he's not the only one as Y/N thought she heard Chris calling her too. Then he sees a red glow coming from one of the rocks.
