The crew of both the expedition ship and the Gun Fort V3 are gathered on the shore. While the expedition ship crew set up their equipment, the crew of the GUN Fort V3 are accosting Topaz.

"If you'd have put up a fight against Eggman instead of leting him capture you, we wouldn't be stuck here."

"Yeah. We had Eggman trapped, but he had you and your crew on board, so we couldn't destroy his ship."

"Don't act like that's what stopped you!!" Topaz yells in anger and runs off.

Y/N would have beaten the GUN pilots and gunners up if Rouge and Knuckles hadn't hold her back by grabbing her arms.

"Let me at 'em! Let me at 'em!"

"Sis, calm down! You're acting wild!" Sonic said, waving his hands.

"I don't care! They show no care to those people who are held hostage!!"

"Y/N! Don't make it worse!" Knuckles tried to calm her.

"Y/N, sweetie. It's not worth it. Topaz and others aren't hurt, so that's a good thing." Rouge said.

Y/N stopped struggling and sighed, knowing she's right. Knuckles and Rouge slowly and cautiously release her as she took a deep breath.

"Better?" Sonic asked.

"Yeah... yeah..."

They looked back to see Tails and Chris as they discussed.

"But I know I could fly the X-Tornado down into the crater."

"It's too dangerous!"

"It's the only way to catch up with Eggman. I'm in." Sonic said.

"Me too." Y/N said.

Knuckles turned to Rouge.

"Rouge, what about you? You willing to come along?"

"Doesn't sound like I have a choice. If I stay behind, there won't be anybody left on the team to look after you." Rouge said.

"Ha. Very funny." Knuckles rolled his eyes.

"And also to look after you, cutie." Rouge turned to Y/N with a smirk, making her blush and Knuckles mad.

"Rouge..."

Meanwhile, Tanaka and Topaz return to Chuck and Dr. Cadberry.

"We have found something. Here, doctor."

Tanaka hands Dr. Cadberry a shiny metal box of some sort.

"Incredible! This bot seems to be made of ermurasium."

"What is ermurasium?" Chuck asked.

"It was an unusual metal that was used by the Murasians."

Dr. Cadberry opens the harahirecon box. Inside is a beautiful white gemstone. Immediately Rouge's eyes sparkle.

"Hel-lo..."

"Rouge, don't." Y/N narrowed her eyes.

"Sorry, can't help it. I'll try not to."

"Right..."

"According to my research, Murasian cities were filled with precious gemstones even larger than this one."

Dr. Cadberry holds up the gem.

"Amazing..."

"I never knew archaeology could be so fascinating." Rouge said.

Tails and Chris are seated in the X-Cyclone. Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge stand on the wings.

"Let's go check out that volcano." Tails said.

The X-Cyclone takes off, and, without converting to the X-Tornado, flies toward the crater of the volcano and slowly begins to descend it. Soon the X-Cyclone land and exit the craft. Rouge examines several rocks nearby.

"They've blocked up the tunnel after they drove through. You see?"

"Hmph. That won't stop me!" Sonic smirked.

"Wait, Sonic!" Y/N tried to warn him, but he immediately begins burrowing through the rock with a spin-dash.

"If you don't stop that digging, you're gonna bury us here!" Knuckles yelled.

Sonic stops.

"Hehehe, sorry."

Y/N whacked him on the head again.

"Ow!!"

Rouge investigates a tunnel different than the one Sonic created.

"There's another tunnel here, but it's pretty narrow."

"Let's see where it goes." Sonic suggested.

Rouge enters the tunnel, followed by Sonic, Y/N, and Knuckles.

"What about us?" Chris asked.

"We can look around in the X-Tornado." Tails suggested.

Chris nods.

In the tunnel, Y/N brought out the light from the crystal so they can see where they are going as she lead the way. The wall begins glowing with many soft green lights.

"Whoa... What are they?"

"It's some kind of flurescent moss." Knuckles said.

"How'd you know that?" Sonic asked.

"Easy. When you're a treasure hunter like me, you've been everywhere, you've seen all kinds of--"

"Come on, Y/N. Let's get moving." Rouge said, ignoring him and urging Y/N to go forward.

"Oh, well... okay."

Knuckles gets ticked off as Y/N, Rouge, and Sonic walks away.

"I see! It's three against one now!"

He chases after them. Soon all four of them are carefully descending a vertical shaft - Y/N first, then Knuckles, then Sonic, then Rouge.

"These rocks are really slippery. Watch your step. Even you, Y/N." Knuckles warned.

"Don't worry. I got this." Y/N said in determination.

Rouge slips on the moss. She lands on Sonic, who lands on Knuckles, who lands on Y/N, and they all land in a heap at the bottom.

"Oopsie." Rouge smiled innocently.

"Everyone... please get off me!! I can't breathe!!" Y/N groaned out.

The group soon continues across a plateau. They cross a dangerous bridge over a river of lava. Soon, they come across a stream.

"It's... so wet!" Sonic warily said.

"Oh, Sonic..." Y/N sighed, shaking her head.

Knuckles emerges from the stream.

"It's too deep to wade across. We'll have to swim."

"Good thing my crystal can light up in the water." Y/N said, agreeing.

"But... That'd spoil my makeup." Rouge said.

Anger is sparked within Knuckles as Y/N sighed again. Sonic comes up with an excuse to get out of his situation.

"Maybe I should go and keep Chris and Tails company."

But before Sonic can leave, Knuckles wraps his arm around his shoulder.

"Hey, not so fast! The bat can rot in this cave for all I care, but you're coming with me!"

He drags Sonic into the water.

"Ya can't get rid of me that easy!" Rouge said, getting mad.

"Oh, come on, Rouge!"

Y/N grabbed her arm and pulled her along into the water.

"Whoa!"

They dive after them, and they wade through the water. Soon, they reach the other side of the stream, and Sonic is on the ground panting and coughing.

"What a nightmare."

"Quit being a baby." Y/N said.

"I hear a waterfall." Rouge said.

Sonic immediately leaps up.

"It might be a way out!"

He runs over to the nearby waterfall and looks down. There are rocks at intervals in the waterfall. The others join him, and see that the waterfall does down into utter darkness.

"Looks like a dead end."

Suddenly, Rouge grabs Y/N and takes off along with her.

"Hey, wait!"

She drops the vine down, which crushes Knuckles.

"Thanks, Rouge!" Sonic said and begins climbing the vine.

"I'll get that bat..."

Knuckles climbs the vine and joins the others at the top of an overhang. Rouge points to the wall behind her. It is blocked off with vines and rocks.

"Our exit's blocked off."

"No sweat. I'll just dig us out."

Knuckles holds up a Shovel Claws, and begins burrowing through the rocks. Rouge and Sonic shield themselves which Y/N was fine and good as she was protected by her crystal barrier. Having finished digging, a bright light pours through a crack. Sonic spins through it, and is amazed at what he sees.

"No way!"

It is revealed that Sonic is looking at an ancient ruins of some sort. The X-Tornado flies overhead.

"Murasia!" Tails and Chris exclaimed.

The X-Tornado projects a camera out its tip. Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge are once again riding the X-Tornado.

"I don't believe those monster stories." Rouge said.

"I'd love to meet monsters down here. I could challenge 'em to a fight! I'd destroy 'em all!" Knuckles said.

"Don't you think that will be dangerous and agressive if you did that without knowing what they are capable of and what abilities they have??" Y/N raised her eyebrow.

"Uh... right...."

"You know, you're cute when you talk about safety for your friend." Rouge smirked.

"Of course you would say that." Y/N pouted with a hint of blush on her cheeks.

"You know you like it how I say it~"

"You know I can't stand you."

"That's because you can't resist me."

"Enough, Rouge! Stop flirting with her!" Knuckles growled.

"Could you guys take it easy, please? I've got enough turbulence up here." Tails said, feeling annoyed as well with Rouge flirting with Y/N.

The X-Cyclone has landed in front of a giant Murasian palace. Tails is setting up a small device.

"Cross your fingers."

He presses a button on the device. Just then, the group looks up to see the screaming robots they heard up ahead.

"Eggman's robots!" Sonic exclaimed.

The group cries out in fear as they see Mothmacin flying over them in hot pursuit of the robots.

"Maybe we should do something to help them!" Chris said.

"This monster is bugging me out!" Decoe screamed.

"Right now I would give anything for a giant mothball!" Bocoe screamed.

"Maybe I could distract that thing."

Chris throws a stone at Mothmacin. It strikes the giant moth in the eye. Chris begins running after Decoe and Bocoe as Mothmacin chases the three of them. Its flapping wings kick up dust, blowing the trio to the ground. They fall through a deep hole in the grass.

Meanwhile Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge are searching for them.

"Hey Chris!"

Sonic looks around.

"Where did he go?" Y/N asked worriedly.

Chris, Decoe, and Bocoe finish falling through the hole. They land right behind Eggman, who turns around.

"What did you bring that brat here for?"

The three sit up.

"He risked his life to save us from a giant bug." Decoe said.

"Really? Well, he isn't gonna save you from me when I tear out your power supply!"

Suddenly, the ground begins shaking. Decoe and Bocoe run around Chris in a panic.

"The gate is going to collapse!" Decoe yelled.

The expedition members team members also feel the ground shaking.

"I hope everything's alright in the cave." Amy said.

A seismograph records the earthquake.

"Are Sonic and the others gonna be okay?" Amy asked.

"That was just a tremor, so they should all be fine. But the pressure inside the volcano is building. Your friends are going to be in real danger if they stay down there much longer." Dr. Cadberry said.

"How bad are things going to get, Doctor?" Chuck asked.

Dr. Cadberry points to the seismograph.

"The data suggests the volcano is about to erupt."

The others are surprised.

The X-Tornado has landed. Tails is still inside. Dr. Cadberry's message is broadcast to the X-Tornado.

"If you're still down there when the volcano blows, you'll be in great danger. Forget about Eggman. Just pack up your gear and head for the surface right away!"

"Okay, Doc." Tails nodded.

"What do we do?" Knuckles asked.

"We don't have any time to lose. I gotta find Chris fast!"

Sonic runs off.

"We should come up with a plan first!" Knuckles tried to stop him.

"I gotta go find Chris too! I'll see you there!"

Y/N rocket skates after Sonic.

"Wait, Y/N!!"

"The best thing for me to do is wing it."

Rouge takes off into the air.

"Where do you think you're goin'?"

"I'll search for Chris from the sky. You and Tails can set up the equipment and look for that hot spot. Make sure you find it before Eggman blows it up."

"Alright, but be careful, Rouge. Good luck."

"I'll see you soon, handsome."

She winks and flies away. As Sonic and Y/N searches for Chris in a forest, Rouge searches for him in the air. A glittering object near the ruins catches her eye. She swoops down to investigate, and it doesn't take long for her to find the source of the shine.

"Oh my..."

A treasure trove of gemstones is right within her reach. As Rouge approaches, one gem falls loose from the pile. After she was holding one of the gems, she heard screaming. Bokkun is seen running in a panic. He meets up with Eggman's party. Decoe and Bocoe are just finishing untying Chris. Bokkun incoherently explains the situation, Eggman rubs his head. Suddenly, the ground shakes, and the group find themselves overshadowed by the humongous Mongroun. Everyone is freaked out at the ancient robot's size. Mongroun raises its giant drill hands.

"SONIC!! Y/N!!"

Sonic and Y/N hears Chris' call. Just as Mongroun appears to swing, causing Chris to shield his head, Rouge swoops down and picks him up.

"Need a lift?"

"Thanks, Rouge."

Mongroun begins destroying the building. Eggman and Bokkun flee. Decoe and Bocoe look at the timer on the bomb. 10:30 remains.

"The detonator!"

"Oh no!"

They flee while Mongroun flails about, destroying the building completely.

"Hurry! We must rush to avoid the crush!"

They fall on their knees in front of Chris and Rouge and watch Eggman fly away.

"He is gone! We are stranded!"

Suddenly, the volcano begins to erupt. Smoke and ash leave the crater as Mongroun thumps its chest.

"The heat's on now." Rouge said.

"What do you mean?" Chris asked.

"This whole cave's gonna fill up with lava."

Bocoe leaps into Decoe's arms in fright. Cracks run down the mountain as Mongroun walks away from it.

"Let's get out of here." Rouge suggested.

"It is no use. A bomb is gonna cause all the volcanoes on the planet to erupt!" Bocoe exclaimed.

Suddenly, Chris takes off running toward the Murasian palace.

"Hey! Wait!" Decoe called.

"Where are you going?" Bocoe called.

As Chris runs, Mongroun detects him and raises its foot to crush him. However, Rouge executes a Screw Kick on Mongroun. The attack does absolutely nothing. Mongroun rubs the spot on its head where Rouge struck it.

"Ah!"

The distraction gives Chris enough time to ascend the front stairs of the palace. Mongroun swats Rouge to the ground and walks toward the palace. Meanwhile, Chris finds the time bomb. 5:08 remains. He sees Mongroun approaching and holds out the bomb.

"Come on! I got something for ya!"

Decoe and Bocoe catch up to him.

"Wait, kid!"

"We will help you!"

"But what can you do?" Chris asked.

"Outside, we look like servants." Bocoe said.

"But inside, we are built for battle. All we do is put our heads together..." Decoe added.

"...and the results are electrifying!" Bocoe finished his sentence.

Chris and Mongroun turn to Decoe and Bocoe.

"What? What are you talking about?" Chris asked again.

Decoe and Bocoe begin a combination which eventually turns them into a giant robot. It sports Decoe's legs and Bocoe's upper body.

"First we link up."

"Then our internal circuitry undergoes a total integration."

"Then our transformation sortware is activated."

"Which kicks us into Power Armor Mode!"

"Which creates a mighty mechanical giant!"

"A super colossal combat droid!"

"Well, now's the time to do it." Chris said.

It is revealed that the giant robot transformation never happened.

"Here we go! Bocoe Decoe Battle Mode!"

The two robots link arms... but nothing happens.

"Huh?"

"We must have been in dream mode."

Mongroun becomes mad.

"Hey, look out!" Chris shouted.

The warning comes too late. Mongroun uses its tail to swipe the two robots away. They break apart in the impact.

"Sorry!"

"It appears our rescue plan has fallen apart!"

"Decoe! Bocoe!"

Mongroun raises its arms, but a missile strikes it in the chest. The X-Tornado arrives on-scene, carrying Sonic, Y/N, and Knuckles.

"There's Chris!" Tails said.

Chris waves his arms.

"Hi, guys!"

Sonic, Y/N, and Knuckles leaps off the X-Tornado to attack. The X-Tornado blasts Mongroun to no effect. Knuckles grabs the giant robot's tail and swings it around before letting go. Mongroun sits up and breathes fire at Knuckles, who is forced to jump back. Not even a spin attack from Sonic or a crystal power attack from Y/N can damage the giant Murasian robot. Y/N helps Rouge up.

"You okay, Rouge?"

The X-Tornado launches a Power Ring to Sonic, who catches it. The ring-powered Sonic spins toward Mongroun, but the robot bats him to the ground.

"It's pretty tough." Sonic said.

Mongroun breathes fire again, but Sonic scoops up Chris and leaps him to safety. They rejoin Knuckles, Y/N, and Rouge.

"There must be a way to stop it." Knuckles said.

"You're right, but I don't know what it is." Sonic said.

Chris presents the bomb to Sonic and Y/N.

"Hey, Sonic, Y/N. This might help."

Sonic takes the bomb, which now has less than thirty second remaining on the timer.

"We can send it off with a bang."

He, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge leap into the air toward Mongroun. While Rouge flies around the robot to distract it, and Knuckles punches it, Sonic readies his bomb, and Y/N readies her giant fist whip for her to swing.

"Yoo-hoo!" Rouge called.

"Down the hatch!"

Sonic throws the bomb up in the air and Y/N swings her whip and punches the bomb into Mongroun's small mouth. It explodes seconds later, effectively destroying Mongroun.

"Alright!" Chris cheered.

The volcano erupts again, sending lava into the air and giant cracks running through the island.

"Come on!! We gotta go!!" Tails yelled.

Later, it is sunset, and everyone is leaving the island in the boat. The volcano is still spewing smoke, but it appears to be calming down.

"Murasian culture seems more mysterious than ever to me now. I only wish we had more time." Dr. Cadberry said.

They continue to watch the volcano.

"Their achievements were astounding. But perhaps they went too far. Did their quest for greatness lead to their destruction? We may never know for sue."

Rouge examines a jewel she smuggled off the island.

"Today I almost got crushed in a cave, mangled by a monster, and cooked by a volcano, but finding this baby made it all worth while."

Dr. Cadberry takes the gem from Rouge and holds it high.

"Another underground artifact from the underground kingdom of Murasia!"

He shakes Rouge's hand.

"Thank you, Rouge. Feel free to drop by the museum any time and see it."

"Yeah, sure Doc." Rouge sweatdropped, making Y/N snicker.

Chris turned to Sonic and Y/N.

"Decoe and Bocoe sacrificed themselves to help me."

"Yeah. Guess they weren't so bad after all." Sonic said.

"Yeah..." Y/N said.

"They proved themselves to be heroes." Tanaka said.

"I'm gonna miss having those two as enemies." Amy said.

Chris can almost see the faded forms of Decoe and Bocoe waving at him. He has flashbacks of his time with them - when they held him captive... when they were assisting Knuckles with the Master Emerald... when they cried. Amy, Ella, Topaz, and Tanaka show sadness for the lost robots.

"You have warmed our cold metallic hearts."

The cabin door opens and in walk none other than... Decoe and Bocoe.

"Luckily, we pulled ourselves together just in time to escape the volcano."

The two robots are beaming.

"You really are incredible." Chris smiled.

Chuck and Tails enter.

"Two resourceful robots like these could come in very handy someday. If they'd like to join our team." Chuck said.

"Oh, you bet we would!" Decoe and Bocoe nodded.

"Dr. Eggman always works us overtime!"

"We would like to work him over!"

They make their way to the edge of the ship.

"We slaved away for Eggman for long enough!"

"Now we will take charge of our own future!"

"Eggman, we quit!" Two robots shouted.
