Knuckles and Chris are now in the ring.

"Keep away from me!"

Chris roars as he charges at Knuckles... who leaps out of the way.

"Please, Chris! I don't wanna fight you!"

Scarlet now sits in the announcer's booth, with Tails by her side.

"I don't understand, Tails. Why is Knuckles running away?"

"Knuckles probably doesn't want to fight 'cause he's afraid that Chris is gonna get hurt."

Chris continues lunging repeatedly at Knuckles, who continues dodging.

"Let's go Knuckles!"

"No!"

"Quit running away!"

"I won't cut it out!"

"Come on and fight me!"

"I'm not gonna fight you!"

"Hey!"

"That Chris Thorndyke certainly is brave." Scarlet commented.

"Especially when the other guy's running away." Tails added.

Chris finally pauses.

"Why don't you forfeit so I can win?"

"Okay... but look who's in the next round!"

Chris looks at the tournament bracket.

"I'd have to fight Amy or Y/N?!"

Chris gulps, feeling scared already, then suddenly feigns injury.

"My appendix! Get me a doctor!"

Elmer raises Knuckles' hand in victory.

"Knuckles moves on!"

Chris and Chuck are standing together outside the ring.

"I think you made a very wise move, Chris." Chuck said.

"Yeah." Chris nodded.

"I see you have your mom's acting talent." Nelson said.

Chris rubs behind his head. Next, after Lucky won the match again by luck it is Emerl vs Tanaka. Mr. Tanaka walks into the ring to face Emerl. He is wearing cultural clothing and is carrying a long wooden stick.

"Brace yourself, my little friend! I am going to stick it to you!"

He leaps into the air with his wooden sword, and attempts to slam it upon Emerl, but the robot copies his skill and catches the other end of the stick.

"Oh no..."

Emerl wrenches the sword out of Tanaka's grasp and leaps into the air.

"I think I'm on the wrong end of that stick..."

The wooden sword stops right above Tanaka's cowering head.

"I give up."

"Yay Emel!" Cream cheered.

"Chao chao!"

4th Match Y/N vs Amy

"Nothing personal, right?" Y/N asked.

Amy nods and picks up her hammer as Y/N picks up her giant fist whip.

"Let's go!"

Amy leaps into the air.

"Oh boy!"

Y/N also leaps into the air. Amy slams her hammer right in front of Y/N, but she dodges and swings her giant fist whip to Amy, which is dodged. Chuck blinks in surprise.

"I'd really be going to the hospital if I'd messed with one of them."

 Y/N and Amy go head to head again, and Amy's hammer is thrown from her grasp as the giant fist was shown giving the hammer the uppercut. It lands in front of Chris and Chuck. Amy is left panting.

"Sorry, Amy. But good game though."

Amy whines in extreme frustration. Y/N pats her head in comfort.

"Now let's see who should Rouge fight against. Rouge, any suggestions?" Scarlet asked.

"I already made a decision." Rouge smirks, making Y/N gulp. "And it's that cutie Y/N."

"Well, this is shocking."

"Anything, but her..." Y/N whined.

After Amy left, it's now Rouge vs Y/N. They stare each other down for while. Knuckles roots for Y/N to win this and take Rouge down. He still wouldn't forget that Rouge tried to steal his Master Emerald and for flirting with Y/N and getting him involved in an awkward situation.

"Hey, Y/N. Maybe you and I oughta settle this little thing in private."

"Huh? In private?" Y/N questioned.

The spectators look on in confusion as a black tent is set up in the middle of the arena. Y/N and Rouge are inside.

"Um... I can't see. How am I supposed to fight, Rouge?"

"Like this!"

Rouge kicks and strikes Y/N repeatedly.

"We don't have any way of knowing who's winning the match right now, but it sounds like Y/N and Rouge are in a slug fest. Who do you think is winning, Tails?" Scarlet said.

"Bats have sonar ability to sense things in the dark, so I'm pretty sure that Rouge has the edge here." Tails said, frowning while hoping Y/N will win.

"Haha! Sweet dreams, cutie!"

"Aah!!! Ow!!!"

There is silence. Who would leave the tent first? The answer is revealed as Rouge exits the tent. She is bruised, but victorious.

"Things get intense in tents, but I'm still standin'."

She leaves.

"Rouge the Bat is on her way to the finals!"

Rouge collapses on the ground.

"Huh? Hey, wait!" Tails said.

The tent is listed into the air, revealing Y/N is still standing with her crystal necklace glowing.

"She may be good at fighting in the dark, but I can also see through the dark." Y/N said with a smile.

"Way to go, Y/N!!" Cream cheered.

"Chao chao!"

"Yes!!" Tails fist pumped.

"Heh!" Knuckle smirked.

"Y/N is moving on to the next round. We're down to the final four now. Emel versus Lucky, and Knuckles versus Y/N." Scarlet said. "The semifinals begin with a showdown between robotic rivals."

1st Match E-77 vs Emerl

Emerl does nothing as Lucky prances in front of him, waves, and then falls over.

"Uh-oh! It looks like Lucky's grandstanding has used up his power supply."

"Emel is the winner!" Elmer declared.

"That means Emel's made it to the final round!

Cream and Cheese cheer.

2nd Match Y/N vs Knuckles

Knuckles gulped in nervousness while Y/N smirked deviously, cracking her neck.

"Aah. Doesn't this bring back some memories of how I kick your butt down real good?"

"Yeah... It does. Just... don't go overboard with me."

"No promises. Let's get real." Y/N said, bringing out her giant fist whip and powered it up with her crystal power as Knuckles brought out his fists.

"Ooh! Things are looking intense."

Y/N punched the ground in front of Knuckles with her whip, creating a big dent and a wind to push him back. Knuckles lands and leaps into the air with his fist raised as he zoom down towards her. Y/N counters by sliding her legs under Knuckles' body after he came close. Y/N then kicks him off as he fell to the ground. She spun her giant fist whip and swung it towards him again, but he caught it with both of his hands. He spun her around, making her yell. She started to feel dizzy and released the grip of the handle. Knuckles smirked and threw it out of the boundary line. Y/N broughts out her regular whip, getting into her fighting stance. Knuckles charges her and she flipped over him, making him halt his move. He turned back and grasp the whip that she was about to throw. She sweatdrop in nervousness.

"Gonna give up?"

"I don't think so..." Y/N suddenly gasped, pointing at something behind him. "What's that?! Eggman's back again?!"

"What?! Eggman?!" Knuckles turns around unaware that she tricked him.

Y/N smirked again and zoomed around him, giving him a kick to the chin. He cursed himself that he fell for that. She went to hit his chest, but Knuckles blocked it with his fist. Focusing, she distracted him swinging her other hand towards his face which he quickly took notice. That gave her enough distraction and swung her leg under his feet, causing him to fall to the ground in the process. Y/N went to pin him down when he did the same counter she did earlier and kicked her off.

"Woah!"

Once she hit the ground, Knuckles pinned her by holding both of her arms up and placing one hand on her chest near her neck.

"Ha! Pinned ya!"

"Hey! Let me up!!" Y/N grunted, trying to get out of his grip.

"Hm... Nope!"

Y/N took a turn and rolled him around as she tried to pin him again, but he was too strong and fast as he pinned her down again.

"Pinned ya again."

Y/N playfully rolled her eyes, blushing.

"I give up."

"Knuckles is moving on the final round!" Scarlet announced.

The audience applauds. Knuckles got off of her, helping her up.

"That was fun." Y/N said.

"Yeah. You're getting better." he said, blushing at how close their face was when he was pinning her down.

Espio, Rouge, and Tails seethed in jealousy. They clearly saw what happened during the match and they did not like what Knuckles did.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the final match! The winner will take home a Chaos Emerald! In this corner, we have the world's toughest fist fighter, Knuckles! And in this corner, we have the master of computerized combat, Emel!"

"Go show everybody you're number one, Emel!" Cream said.

"Chao chao!" Cheese said.

"With fighters this closely matched, I'd say we're in for the most grueling bout of the tournament."

Knuckles and Emerl charge at each other. Emerl avoids several punches, jabs, and kicks from Knuckles. The robot then attempts to use Rougs Screw Kick on Knuckles, who dodges and pins his arms.

"Come on, Emel!"

Emerl then executes Sonic's spin dash, taking Knuckles with him.

"Hey! Knock it off!" Knuckles screamed.

"Emel copied that from Sonic!" Chris exclaimed in surprise.

Emerl then spins into the air with Knuckles before driving him into the ground. The robot then impacts Knuckles' head before landing several hits on the echidna.

"Knuckles is totally outmatched, Grandpa!"

"Looks like Knucklehead won't be winning the Chaos Emerald either." Rouge said who was all bandaged up.

Knuckles continues to take a beating.

"Poor Knuckles is hurt. He could use a hankie." Cream said.

"Chao..."

"Here!"

She pulls out a handkerchief and tosses it into the ring.

"That's it! Knuckles gives up! Our winner is Emel!" Elmer declared.

"No! He thought my hankie was a white flag!"

Cream races toward the ring.

"Please wait, sir! There's been a mistake! I was trying to help Knuckles! He didn't quit the match, honest!"

She and Cheese approach Knuckles.

"But I did quit." Knuckles said.

The towel lands on Cheese, who tries to get it off.

"I feel a lot better now because I know you didn't lose the match because of me." Cream sighed in relief.

Knuckles stands up and offers his hand to Emerl for a shake.

"Not bad, Emel. We'll have to have another match when I'm not feeling so beat."

Y/N smiled as Emerl accepts the handshake. The crowd erupts in cheers.

It is now sunset, and Scarlet, the President, and Christina are now in the ring.

"Now it's time to present the grand prize to our champion." Scarlet said.

Cream, Cheese, Vanilla, and Emerl are just off the stage.

"That's you, Emel. Go up and get your Chaos Emerald! Bet everybody will cheer for you and you can take a bow!" Cream smiled.

Emerl walks onto the stage.

"Let's hear it for Emel!"

The President extends his hand to Emerl.

"Congratulations, Emel. That was great."

Emerl accepts the handshake.

"Bring the award."

Christina picks up the Chaos Emerald.

"The Chaos Emerald that the President is presenting to our winner is the most valuable prize ever awarded in a sporting competition."

The President now holds the Emerald.

"Emel, as we build a fighting force to combat Dr. Eggman, your victory is an inspiration to all our fighting robots."

He extends the Emerald to Emerl. Emerl accepts the Emerald. Spotlights shine on Emerl.

"On behalf of the whole nation, I congratulate Emel!"

Emerl absorbs the Chaos Emerald, causing his eyes to change to red. He then spins into the air and starts destroying the battle stage, causing the people to flee.

"Emel, is there something that made you angry? Why are you attacking everybody?" Cream said, feeling scared and worried

The dust clears, and Emerl stands there, facing down Rouge, Knuckles, Espio, Y/N, and Sonic as they approach him. He copies all five of their abilities at once, then Home Attacks Sonic and Rouge, and Screw Kicks Knuckles, Espio, and Y/N. Emerl's rampage continues.

"Stop before it's too late!" Cream cried out.

But Emerl does not listen and spins toward Vanilla.

"I'll save ya!"

Sonic scoops Vanilla out of the way just in time.

"Emel, that's it. I can't be your friend."

Amy races in brandishing her hammer.

"I'll knock Emel out so we can open up his control panel and see why he's malfunctioning!

Emerl copies her skill and uses a metal pole to parry Amy's attacks. He knocks the hammer out of Amy's grasp, simultaneously knocking her to to the ground.

"Sonic, come help me!!"

Sonic leaps into the air, but Emerl breaks the metal pole over him.

"Emel, this isn't a game! You've gotta stop right now or somebody is gonna get hurt!"

Emerl's hand spins like a drill, and he flies toward Cream.

"Cream, look out!"

Y/N carries Cream out of the way of Emerl's attack.

"You alright, Cream?"

"I am."

Emerl leaps out of the stadium.

 Emerl has caused much havoc throughout the city. Chris, Chuck, Cream, and Cheese watch from the roof of one of the buildings.

"Why is he acting this way?" Cream asked, looking sad.

"My guess is that the Chaos Emerald suddenly caused Emel's memory to reprogram itself, but I don't have any idea how or why it happened." Chuck said.

"Can't we just fix Emel and change him back to the way he was before?" Chris asked.

Chuck looks down.

"That would be very tough."

Sonic and Y/N watches as Emerl approaches them before he stops. Sonic rubs under his nose as Knuckles lands nearby.

"I'm ready to fight you again. Only this time I'm adding a little twist!"

Knuckles runs toward Emerl and turns into a living drill. Emerl does the same, and they clash, doing nothing. Several clashes later bring no fruitful results.

"Emel's copying ability gives him a huge advantage. Knuckles' fighting skills don't matter. Emel can match him blow for blow. When Knuckles attacks with all his might, he gets attacked with the same force. It's almost like he's fighting against himself!" Chuck said.

"He can't win." Sonic said as Y/N looks over in worry.

Rouge and Espio lands next to them.

"Give it up and give us a shot, Knuckles!" Rouge said.

Emerl repeatedly pummels Knuckles.

"I still have a chance!"

"Oh really? Then why are you still being pummeled if you have a chance?" Espio deadpanned.

"Yeah, a chance at winding up at the hospital." Sonic added.

"Let us handle this! Trust us!" Y/N said.

"I am not a quitter!"

"I'll stop that robot!" Amy joined in, but Emerl spins right past Amy.

"Amy!"

Sonic picks up Amy and carries her out of harm's way.

"You saved me again, Sonic!"

He drops her off and dashes away.

"Not that I needed saving!"

Cream seeks comfort from her mother as Emerl buzzes, Rouge, Espio, Knuckles, Y/N, and Sonic.

"I'm gonna take Emel apart!" Tails said.

"Let me have a crack at him first, Tails!" Amy argued.

They accidentally collide with each other as Emerl leaps out of the way. They are sprawled on the ground.

"Sorry..."

"That's okay..."

Rouge attempts a Screw Kick, but Emerl's own Screw Kick overpowers hers. Y/N and Espio threw their whip and kunai rope dart, but Emerl uses the metal ball chain and overpowers them. The robot also clashed with Knuckles and Sonic, leaving the five Mobians panting.

"Well, now what?" Sonic asked.

"Maybe if all five of us fight it at once..." Knuckles suggested.

"It's our only chance." Rouge said.

"Good idea." Y/N agreed as Espio nodded.

They begin to pursue Emerl.

"I'll cut him off!"

"Then we strike."

"Right!"

"Let's go!"

"Yeah!"

"I'm scared, Mama..." Cream whimpered.

"Chao..." Cheese whimpered.

"I hope the know what they're doing, Chuck. I don't trust that Emel." Tails said in worry.

"That robot's extremely clever." Chuck said.

"Where do you think Emel's running to, Grandpa? ...Hey, I bet I know! He's leading Sonic straight to the sea!" Chris said in realization.

Up ahead is the ocean. Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, Espio, and Rouge chase Emerl across the beach, but the robot spin dashes to throw them aside.

"Sorry guys, I can't keep up with ya." Rouge said.

"Uh-oh!"

Sonic sees the waves crashing as he, Y/N, Espio, and Knuckles continue their fight against Emerl. Chris, Chuck, Tails, Amy, Cream, and Cheese run in.

"I bet Emel led him to the sea 'cause Sonic doesn't like water."

Cream looks worried at that aspect. Sonic very nearly falls into the ocean.

"Sonic, be careful!" Chris warned.

"Let's go, Cheese!"

Cheese clings to Cream, and the young rabbit flaps her ears and flies underneath Sonic to catch him as he finally falls.

"Thanks, Cream."

"I know how much you hate to get wet."

A drill attack from Emerl causes Knuckles to fall as well.

"Knuckles!"

Espio quickly grabs a hold of Knuckles' hand with the help of Y/N and brought him back up. Cream lands, placing Sonic down. Emerl stand there.

"Emel! You just wrecked the city. And you attacked my mother and my friends. I want to help you, Emel, but only if you promise not to hurt anybody else."

Emerl's eyes slowly change back to blue.

"Do you?"

"Chao chao!"

But Emerl sparks, and its eyes change back to red. Y/N rushes toward Cream.

"Noooo!"

Just as Emerl is about to use Knuckles' punch on Cream, Y/N steps between them and takes the blow.

"Y/N!!" Espio and Knuckles shouted.

"Sis!!" Sonic shouted.

"Oh no!!" Rouge gasped.

"Ow... That was real close.... Glad that you're alright..."

Y/N passes out from the injury. Espio ran over and carried her to see if she's okay as Sonic rushes over to Y/N's aid. Cheese cries out a battle cry and delivers several strikes to Emerl. Emerl attempts to copy Cheese's ability, but is kicked back by Cream.

"Whoa, they're tough." Chris said in surprise.

"How could they hurt Emel?" Knuckles questioned.

"They're just a couple of squirts, but they've got the robot swamped." Rouge said.

"Amazing." Espio said, still carrying Y/N.

Sonic grinned.

"Don't underestimate them."

Cream and Cheese deliver another blow to Emerl together, sending him sprawling through the air.

"Emel can only copy the skills of one opponent at a time. If you work together, he'll be overwhelmed." Chuck said.

"That might work." Knuckles turns to Rouge. "What do you say?"

Rouge winks.

"I'll try anything to knock off that knockoff."

"No."

Knuckles, Rouge, Espio, and Sonic see that Y/N has regained consciousness.

"Why not? Rouge and I can take him easy if we attack him together." Knuckles said.

Y/N opens one eye.

"Yeah, I know. But I think we should let Cream and Cheese handle this. I believe in them."

"Sis is right." Sonic said.

Cream and Cheese fly through the air.

"Now, let's go!"

Cheese clings to Cream, and they barrel toward Emerl.

"Emel... I wish I didn't have to do this..."

She has flashback of when she first met Emerl. The flasback changes to Cream, Cheese, and Emerl enjoying each other's company. The flashbacks continue. Emerl and Cream waiting for Chris near the school. Chris, Cream, Cheese, and Emerl racing for Mr. Stewart's car. Emerl walking with Helen. Cream and Cheese laughing in Mr. Stewart's car. Still Cream continues her flight, even with flashbacks still coming. The next flashback shows Emerl presenting Cream flowers. As the flashback end, Cream prepares to give Emerl the ultimate kick. Emerl recalls his last memory of Cream. He recalls the tears in her eyes, and his now blue eyes begin to leak oil as he sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Cream comforts Cheese as he cries.

"Don't cry, Cheese... We had to do it..."

Water is sent billowing into the air as Emerl explodes, raining water everywhere. The robot is finally, and permanently, gone. Cream and Cheese sob freely now, and the others watch somberly.

"Goodbye, Emel!"

A rainbow is formed in the sky as a result of the water.
