(A/N: I skipped the next episode because I really want to get into this Prize Fight already!! It cannot wait!! I love that episode! Enjoy the story!)

The military is gathered outside the broadcasting center. Scarlet Garcia is broadcasting a story.

"Yesterday, SSTV News that the notorious Dr. Eggman had escaped from jail along with his two mechanical henchmen. Officials now believe that Eggman and his robots are hiding underground plotting their next assault. In an effort to undermine the plot, the President has formulated a plan that will involve Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge the Bat."

Outside, the President and Christina Cooper disembark from their limo and head into the building.

"While information is sketchy, it appears some sort of tournament is in the works. Luckily, I've been granted an exclusive interview with the participants to talk about this exciting development."

Scarlet follows a cameraman into the other room, where Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge are sitting on a sectional couch. They appear bored, and Scarlet blushes.

"Uh... Well, it doesn't appear that Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge are as excited about this competition as one might expect them to be."

The President rounds the corner, and is shocked to see Scarlet reporting this story. He pushes her and the cameraman aside.

"Maybe once we begin our interview, they'll tell us why they seem so glum."

"Spread out!" President ordered.

He closed the door once he enters the room. Topaz is also there.

"Well, Topaz, are they in or out?"

Topaz salutes.

"Well sir, they--"

"I don't know about this plan of yours." Sonic spoke.

"Yeah, what are you up to?" Y/N added.

"This tournament ideas sounds kinda screwy." Knuckles said.

"How 'bout you?" President turned to Rouge.

"I might consider helping you out with this plan of yours, but if I do, it's gonna cost ya."

The President's and Topaz's eyes widen.

"What exactly does that mean?"

"Well, I do have a weakness for jewelry."

"Of course you do." Y/N sighed.

"I'll tell you what. If you all agree to battle in our tournament, we'll offer a grand prize to the winner." President said.

Christina and Scarlet enter the room.

"Whoever wins the competition gets... a Chaos Emerald!"

This gets the Mobian's attention.

"You want me to waste my time for one Chaos Emerald? Sorry, but you can count me out." Knuckles said.

"Ah, could it be Gloomy Gus over here's too chicken? I guess he's afraid I might beat him."

Rouge emphasizes her point by poking Knuckles, who brushes her hand away.

"Rouge!" Y/N scolded her.

"Look here. I'm not afraid of anybody, got that?" Knuckles said.

"It's too bad. It would have been such an exciting tournament." Scarlet frowned.

"Not you too!"

"Well, if he really doesn't want to prove himself, there's no use forcing him to." President agreed.

"I suppose not, Mr. President." Topaz said.

"Guys..." Y/N tried to stop them from teasing Knuckles.

Scarlet leans in close to Knuckles.

"Our viewers will be so disappointed, especially the millions of rabid Knuckles fans out there."

Topaz leans in as well.

"Kids who just want a glimpse of their hero."

A now-irate Knuckles sweatdrops as Rouge also leans in next to him.

"You don't want 'em to think you're a big scaredy-cat, do ya?"

As does the President.

"This will be the perfect way to prove just how tough you are. Unless, of course, you're secretly a sniveling coward."

"STOP IT!!" Y/N shouted.

They looked at her in surprise as well as Sonic.

"Let him think! Don't just go and tease him like that if you're going to convince him."

Y/N turned to Knuckles.

"Are you sure you don't want to participate this tournament? This could be your chance to get some spotlight against Sonic. Plus, you might need that Chaos Emerald if something happens to your Master Emerald if someone like Rouge would try and steal it."

"Hey!!!" Sonic and Rouge exclaimed, feeling offended.

Y/N leans in towards Knuckles, catching him off guard.

"What do you say?"

Knuckles wanted to look away while also knowing that she's got a point. He growled in frustration and eventually gave in.

"Fine. I'll enter the competition and win the Chaos Emerald. Only because you convinced me and I appreciate you defending me." he said, looking away with his arms crossed.

"Great!" Y/N smiled in happiness.

"Well... That was surprisingly easy." Rouge said.

The humans applaud.

"You really care for that guy." Sonic said.

"Why wouldn't I? You got a problem with that? I just don't like how people call Knuckles a coward. If you do, then say it." Y/N glared at her brother, making him rapidly shake his head.

Knuckles had to quickly cover his mouth to prevent himself from laughing.

"Just one little detail. Do we have any Emeralds?" President asked.

Christina nods.

In the living room of the mansion, the Thorndykes and Sonic's and Y/N's friends (including Emerl and excluding Amy) are watching TV. Scarlet is standing alongside the President.

"This is Scarlet Garcia. The President has just announced that Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge the Bat will take part in an exciting martial arts tournament. Mr. President, would you like to say a few words to our viewers? ... Here."

Scarlet hands the microphone to the President.

"In addition, we would like to open the tournament to anyone who feels they would like to participate."

He gives a wink and thumbs-up.

"So sign up today!"

The President's message spreads through the entire city. It even got Team Chaotix interested. Flyers are posted everywhere, and the images of Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Rouge are stamped on the side of trucks.

"Tell all your friends to tell all their friends! This competition promises to be the most exciting event ever! The grand prize is a genuine Chaos Emerald! So come on down if you think you have what it takes to battle with the best! Yah!"

On TV, Scarlet is standing in front of several female phone operators.

"Would you like to compete? Operators are standing by, so call today! Uh... We'll be... right back!"

The commercial shows Knuckles smashing a rock and other objects to explosive bits. He flexes his muscles.

"Ha! ... Think you're tough enough? Well, what are you waiting for?"

Even Scarlet and the operators are surprised after seeing the commercial.

"Maybe you could win that Chaos Emerald, Tiffany."

"If I did, I'd turn it into one awesome earring."

Back to Chris and them, needless to say, those watching are also surprised at Knuckles' message.

"Well, Chris, guess we'd better call that number and enter." Tails shrugged.

"But Tails, are you crazy? Didn't you see that commercial?" Chris said.

"You know you can't believe everything you see on TV."

The others are not convinced. The phone rings, and Tanaka answers it.

"Hello? ... Yes, I'll put him on, Mr. Thorndyke. Here, Chris. Your father, he would like to speak with you."

"Okay, thanks."

Chris accepts the phone offered to him.

"Hi, Dad. ... Yeah. ... You're signing up for the competition? But how come?" Chris looks shocked. "You think you have a good chance at winning? And you thought it might be a lot of fun to enter me, Amy, Tails, Mr. Tanaka, Grandpa, and Ella too?"

The others are surprised.

"He wants me to battle?" Ella asked.

Tanaka begins practicing his karate skills.

"Listen, may we-- Uh... he hung up on me. Well, I guess it's settled." Chris informed.

"The martial arts tournament planners have just released the official events schedule." Scarlet said through the TV.

The tournament bracket is shown.

"They've also begun announcing who'll be competing. Slots are fulling up fast, so call now. We'll be right back after this."

The President stands in the middle of the arena with a microphone as fireworks burst, crowds cheer, and balloons rise into the air.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the first annual Chaos Emerald Martial Arts Mash-Up! ... Today's participants will be competing for this... authentic... Chaoooos Emerald!

He holds up the shiny red gem. The arena is packed. Scarlet is standing to the side of the battle ring, ready to announce.

"The atmosphere here at the stadium is absolutely electric, and rumor has it that a special surprise is that a special surprise participant is about to kick off this martial arts challenge."

The fans cheer. Y/N watches as she checked the match of who she's going to fight against.

Y/N was surprised that she's going to fight against Espio. She wondered how did he get here. The President stands nearby, bumping his boxing gloves together.

"This is a bad idea." Christina warned in worry.

"I may have a pudge, but I still got a punch!"

He throws a few practice punches.

"The crows is cheering for today's master of ceremonies, the owner of Diamond Stadium Elmer Johnson. Let's listen as he introduces our first two competitors."

Elmer Johnson walks into the ring with a microphone, and waves to the crowd.

"In this corner, the President!"

The President waves to the audience with both hands.

"And his opponent, in black armor, the Black Knight!"

A mysterious person in a black suit of armor stares down the President.

"Are you sure you wanna do this, Mr. President?" Christina asked.

"No."

Scarlet is standing next to a small table with an open umbrella in the center. A bell is on the table.

"Let the mash-up begin!"

She rings the bell with a small hammer. The President approaches the Black Knight. He lands a flurry of punches on the Black Knight's armor, but he isn't fazed. The Black Knight simply stares at the President. Laughing, the Black Knight raises his hand to attack.

"Oh no!" Christina gasped.

The President cringes, but is saved when a towel lands on his head. Before he knows it, Elmer raises the Black Knight's hand in victory.

"The Black Knight will move to the second round!"

"The President's aide threw in the towel." Scarlet informed.

The President, with the towel still over his head, turns to Christina.

"Why'd you do that?!"

"I think you have more power lunches than power punches."

"Now let's move on to our next exciting match-up."

Scarlet rings the bell again. As the matches for the first round goes by, Y/N heard someone calling.

"Psst! Hey, Y/N."

Y/N turned to only find no one until the figure got out of their camouflage to reveal Espio.

"Woah. Hey, Espio. I thought it was you. How did you manage to sign in for this match?"

"Well, Vector and Charmy thought it would be a good idea." Espio rubbed the back of his neck. "Vector says that this is our chance to get some spotlight too. I'm pretty sure they're already cheering me on. Heh."

"I see. Well, don't hold back. I'm not going easy on you." she said, smirking.

"I'm fully aware of that." Espio said, smirking back.

Now the next match that really got her attention is Tails vs Hawk. She remembered rescuing him with Knuckles when they were on a search for the Chaos Emerald. 

"Ready when you are!" Tails said.

Hawk makes confusing hand movements to intimidate Tails, then lunges for tails, attempting to launch a flurry of strikes and punches. Tails uses his namesakes to block the attacks.

"Woah!" Y/N said in surprise.

"Hawk is on the offense and showering his opponent with lightning-fast moves and fists of fury, but Tails is keeping cool and letting his twin tails tyake the punishment." Scarlet said.

Hawk raises his foot in an attempt to kick Tails.

"Here comes the kicker!"

Tails sweatdrops and ducks, using his tails in an attempt to block the attack.

"Looks like the tails are ready to attack!"

However, he lowers his leg.

"Those things don't scare me."

Hawk grasps Tails' namesakes.

"I gotcha!"

"Oh yeah? Think again!" Tails smirked.

Tails uses his namesakes to spin Hawk around, making him dizzy. Elmer raises his hand in victory.

"Hawk has suffering a dizzying defeat!" Scarlet announced.

"And I won!" Tails cheered.

"Yeah, Tails!!" Y/N cheered.

"That was awesome!" Crowd cheered.

"They like me... They really like me!" Tails turned to Y/N who's cheering and whooping him on. "She praised me!"

Tails smiled at Y/N as Sonic smiles, looking proud of his best friend. The next match is Amy vs Bokkun and boy, did he made Amy mad and for making her look bad in front of everyone. Amy luckily hammered him down real good which Y/N thinks he clearly deserve that. Amy won the match after and got many cheer from her fans.

"Well folks, thus ends the first half of this exciting tournament. We'll be taking a short intermission." Scarlet announced.

Fans visit the food court, have Knuckles sign his autograph... ...and have pictures taken with Tails. Y/N and Espio are teaching the kids who are a fan of Y/N how to roller skate while giving them some autograph as she introduced them to Espio and told them that he's a ninja. They got excited and asked him to show them. He gladly showed them, making them awe in surprise at his invisibility and his ninja moves. Y/N was happy that Espio is opening up and getting along with others.

Later, it is time for Round 2. Next stands in the middle of the ring with a sign that reads "Round 2".

"Welcome back. We're ready to begin the second round of the first annual Chaos Emerald Martial Arts Mash-Up. First up is tough guy Knuckles vs. the mysterious Black Knight."

"Let's go, metal man!" Knuckles said.

The Black Knight laughs.

"Tough guy, eh? We'll just see about that!"

He charges toward a protesting Black Knight and punches him to the ground. The Black Knight begs for mercy.

"Don't hurt me, Knuckles! Just let me win! Please! I'm begging you!"

"Who are you, anyway?"

"It's me..."

He removes his helmet, revealing himself to be none other than Jerome Wise. Y/N narrowed her eyes.

"What is HE doing here?"

"You're the Black Knight?" Knuckles said in surprise.

"I need that Chaos Emerald! I don't have any money!"

This made Knuckles and Y/N mad as they both have tick marks on their head.

"There's one thing I cannot stand... a whiner!!"

Scared out of his wits, Jerome scrambles to get out of the ring. Elmer raises Knuckles' hand in victory.

"The Black Knight turned yellow, so Knuckles wins the match."

"Heh. Stupid Jerome." Y/N chuckled.

Chris' match with her dad was funny as Chris easily won. Another matches went by it was now Emerl vs Ella as Y/N wondered what Emerl is gonna do. She knows that robot means no harm and has been nothing but a much more helpful one.

"Emel! I know you can win!" Cream cheered him on.

Emerl appears ready to fight.

"But whatever happens, be extra gentle with Ella, okay?"

Emerl appears conflicted.

"What's wrong with Emel?"

"He doesn't know how he can win if he's gentle." Ella said.

"Oh, that's terrible. What should we do, Cheese?"

"Chao."

Cream and Cheese glance at each other.

"Ah, I have an idea. I'll forfeit the match!" Ella declared.

"But... are you sure?"

"Sure I'm sure." Ella winked. "After all, I've got dinner to make."

"You're the best, Ella!"

"Chao chao chao!"

Y/N smiled at this scene. She could tell that this robot has a soft spot towards Ella and especially Cream since she had been taking care of him with kindness and helpfulness.

7th Match is Rouge vs Tails.

"Not exactly what I'd call a challenge, but here goes."

Rouge swoops at Tails, but the fox dodges and flies into the air at Rouge, who avoids him.

"Oh yeah?" Tails taunted.

"This exciting grudge match is off and running! Or should I say flying?" Scarelt announced.

They exchange blows in midair before Rouge lands.

"You're not bad... for an amateur."

Tails flies down before charging at Rouge.

"Watch out, boy."

As soon as Tails gets close enough, Rouge grabs him, kisses him, and dumps the embarrassed fox outside the ring.

"Well, it looks like Rouge the Bat sure gave Tails the kiss-off. That makes her the winner of this match."

"Sorry to smooch and run, but I've gotta touch up my lipstick. I'm saving this kiss special for the cutie." Rouge chuckled and left.

Y/N shivered with blushes on her cheeks as she wished that she won't have a match with Rouge. Soon, the eighth match is set up. The competitors are Amy and Sonic. Sonic appears worried as Y/N wondered if Amy's going to be okay. She noticed that Amy is just as worried as she is as she's having thought to herself until her eyes gleamed.

"Sonic!"

Sonic sweatdrops.

"This won't work. You gotta think of some way to get her mad at me, Chris."

"Don't look at me! Ask Y/N!"

"I would want to, but I can't." Y/N shrugged.

"Sis, please. Help me out."

"When she's acting like this, nothing can get her mad."

Amy approaches Sonic.

"Sonic, I understand."

"Understand what?"

Sonic looks up and sees Eggman. Y/N growled to see him again.

"Say goodbye."

The doctor pushes a button that fires a laser at the competitors. Sonic runs toward Amy, who is delighted, thinking that he is coming to hug him, when it is really a rescue. Sonic quickly carries her out of the way of the laser, which strikes where they were just standing.

"Missed!"

Eggman flies away.

"Where do you think you're goin'?"

Sonic leaps out of the stadium in pursuit of Eggman. Amy stands up. Y/N would have wanted to go after him, but she had a match she need to participate.

"What a shocker, folks! Our friend Sonic has forfeited the match, and that means we're down to the ninth match! Ladies and gentlemen, we're now down to the final battle of the second round. This next match promises to be a real crowdpleaser. Let's see what happens."

Everyone cheered as Y/N and Espio stood face to face, staring at each other as they look determine to win. Knuckles, Rouge, and Tails watched as they crossed their fingers that Y/N will win. Once the bell rings, Y/N brought out her whip and swung it toward Espio. He quickly dodged it and turned invisible. She looked around for any sign of him or any footsteps she can hear. Suddenly, she got kicked to the back as she fell forward, making her drop her whip. Y/N caught herself on the ground by placing her hands before she can fall and rolled over just in time to see the ninja star as it hit the ground.

"Woah! Looks like they're doing hide and seek match. I wonder how she's going to find him."

Meanwhile, Vector and Charmy are watching TV as they cheered for Espio. Y/N looked around as she tried to hit anything to get to him, but all she recieved are punches and kicks without her noticing or letting her think. She's growing a little frustrated. Y/N then got the idea. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Once she's all calm and relax, she immediately felt him coming close and kicked him back. He groaned as his invinsibility wore off, showing him visible. Espio jumped back to see her attempting to take him down and dodged her kick. He threw some more ninja stars towards her. She flips backward.

"This is getting intense."

Y/N looked back and almost fell off the boundary line and cartwheeled from Espio as he tried to kick her, but she quickly stood up and literally smacked his face, pushing him back as he got dragged to the ground. Espio brought out his kunai attached to the rope, spun it, and threw it towards her as it spun around her. Y/N grasps the rope and pulled it, forcing him to go towards her and she wrapped it around him, tying him up. Espio was surprised and he struggled to get out, but it was tight. He later stopped struggling.

"You win. I give up." he said, smiling that he had fun.

Elmer raises Y/N's hand in victory.

"Espio is all tied up and gave in, and Y/N wins the match. We are now down to final nine." Scarlet announced.

The crowd chanted her name. The nine remaining contestants are Knuckles, Chris, Mr. Stewart, E-77 Lucky, Tanaka, Emerl, Rouge, Amy, and Y/N.

"Who will be the winner? Tune in next time to find out!"

Y/N helped Espio up after untying him and gave him back his kunai.

"Good match, Espio."

"Thanks. You too."

Back to Vector and Charmy as they wailed in frustration that Espio lost.
