Sonic and Shadow are still fighting. A hole is created in the wall, revealing a Power Ring.

"You've interfered for the last time!"

He throws more Chaos Spears at Sonic, who leaps up and grabs the ring. He uses a ring-powered home attack on Shadow, knocking him to the ground.

"Alright, Shadow. What's goin' on here? What were you doing with my sister?"

Shadow sits up.

"You'll find out."

They started to feel the room shake.

"Sonic, your time is running out!"

He flees through the hole in the hall.

"Wait!"

Sonic turns around to see a timer that reads 00:23:45:00.

Y/N, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and Chris enter the computer room. Eggman slams his fist on the console.

"He tricked me! My own grandfather tricked me!"

Suddenly, a door seals away the Chaos Emeralds.

"The Chaos Emeralds!" Knuckles gasped.

Gerald's message plays on the big screen.

"The countdown marking my final revenge on this world has begun! In just a few minutes, you will be destroyed. Soon, Space Colony ARK will hurtle through the atmosphere and crash into this planet with devastating force!"

Only twenty minutes remain. Everyone around the world can see Gerald's message.

"You have no time to prevent this disaster, and absolutely no hope of survival. Your ruler took my granddaughter Maria from me, so I'm destroying everything you care about. Now you'll feel what I felt when I lost Maria. You will see. You will see. You'll see!"

Y/N frowned upon hearing him mention Maria as she got a flashback of Shadow's memory.

"Who is that guy? And what does he mean?" Amy questioned.

"That is Professor Gerald Robotnik, He was a scientific genius and my grandfather." Eggman explained.

Gerald's message repeats.

"The countdown marking my final revenge on this world has begun!"

The space colony shakes again.

"Hey, it feels like this place is breaking apart!" Knuckles exclaimed.

"Soon it's going to get a lot worse."

Knuckles and Y/N turns to see Rouge approaching.

"I've just checked the colony's propulsion systems. The computers are locked, so we can't reverse course. Looks like there's nothing we can do."

"Grandpa, destroying a planet is one thing, but destroying your grandson is another." Eggman said.

Sonic stands at the entrance of the room.

"What's going on here?!"

"Sonic!"

Y/N ran over and hugged her brother.

"Y/N!"

Sonic hugged back rather tighter than others.

"If you came here for a showdown, Sonic, forget it. Soon we'll all be vaporized."

Sonic and Y/N joins the others.

"Come on. Don't be such a quitter, Eggman. Maybe if we work together, we can get out of this mess."

As Sonic looks at Gerald's message, Eggman types on a computer.

"When I hacked into the database on Prison Island, I found my grandfather's diary."

He hands the computer to Sonic, and Chris looks over his shoulder and reads along.

"Revenge. That is all that matters to me now."

~FLASHBACK~

The GUN soldiers are seen breaking into the lab.

"When I began my research, I only wanted to do good. That's why I worked to make the ultimate creature."

Gerald is now shown sitting alone in the lab.

"But the leaders of the project worried that I'd use it to take over the world, so they seized my lab on Space Colony ARK. Then, they took Maria from me, and my like too on a new purpose."

Gerald is now shown in his Prison Island cell.

"Instead of helping people, I would get revenge on them. Night and day I've planned, so long after I am gone, my revenge will be complete."

He writes the numbers 00:27:53.

~FLASHBACK ENDS~

Chris finishes reading the diary entry.

"I'ver done it. My greatest design is now complete - the ultimate creature, Shadow. My enemies think they've defeated me, but Shadow will carry out my orders without question. Now it sleeps, but one day in the future, it will be reawakened. Shadow will bring total destruction."

The clock now reads 00:17:50:00. The message continues to play around the world.

"...in the coming minutes as you helplessly await your doom..."

The timer nears 00:16:30:00.

"The energy from the Chaos Emeralds has transformed the Eclipse Cannon into a mega bomb. If it detonates, the blast will be more massive than a supernova!" Eggman informed.

"The energy from the Chaos Emeralds is also what's pushing us toward the planet. We have to get the Emerald and deactivate them somehow." Tails added.

"Knuckles." Sonic and Y/N said.

Everyone turns to Knuckles.

"What? Why me?"

"Because you can control all the Chaos Emeralds with that." Rouge pointed at the Master Emerald.

"The Master Emerald! I can use it to shut off the power."

Knuckles stands before the others, seeming to understand now.

"There's still time to stop the space colony from crashing, but we have to hurry. We'll only reach the Chaos Emeralds if we all work together." Tails said.

"I'll lead the way. Stay on my heels and do your best to keep up the pace." Sonic said.

"Let's get to those Chaos Emeralds before it's too late."

Knuckles, Sonic, Eggman, Tails, Rouge, Bocoe, and Decoe take off to find the Chaos Emeralds. Bocoe and Decoe are carrying the Master Emerald.

"Remember: if we fail, then our entire planet will perish, and so will we." Eggman warned.

Y/N, Amy, and Chris head towards the viewport as Amy and Chris seems enthusiastic.

"I hope they make it in time."

"I wish there was something we could do to help Sonic and the others."

"I should have gone with them..." Y/N looked down.

Chris lays his hand on Y/N's shoulder.

"Don't worry. You did your best. Sonic will get to the Chaos Emeralds in time."

"Don't bet on it."

Just then, Shadow enters the room.

"Shadow!" Y/N exclaimed and Shadow smirks.

Shadow looks out the viewport as the station continues its descent. Y/N sighed and started heading towards Shadow.

"Y/N..."

Y/N ignores Chris.

"Shadow, please. You can still help save us all."

The others are surprised, even Shadow.

"You believe that your whole reason for being here is to get revenge. But think about it."

She takes another step forward and places her hand on Shadow's shoulder.

"Deep down, you know you were made to help others, and that's a reason you brought me here to help you!"

"Hands off!"

He uses his inhibitor rings to shock Y/N, but her crystal activated in instinct and shielded her. She glared at him in determination as she stood her ground, surprising him again. He shook his head.

"It's useless. I made a promise to Maria, and I'm keeping it."

"Shadow, getting revenge won't bring Maria back. And you know it."

"So what?"

"There's still time to stop this, Shadow. Please, you have to listen to me! How can you blame people alive today for something that happened fifty years ago? Can't you see it's not fair?!"

"Don't talk to me about fair! Not after what happened here!" Shadow snapped. "Maria was my only friend, but your rulers sent soldiers to take her away from me. I tried to save her, but there were too many for me to stop. I never saw poor Maria again. Maria wasn't a threat to anyone. All she wanted was to visit your planet, but she never had the chance."

"I understand. I know how it feels. Trust me I do. Yes, it's very cruel and so stupid of them to do that when she's so young... There are some bad people in the world, but most people are good. I know that you would agree with me if you only got to know them, just like Maria wanted to. You would see the world for yourself that the world has beauty itself. Shadow, please. Maria would want you to be friends with people."

Shadow is surprised at how much Y/N reminds him of Maria.

~FLASHBACK~

Maria is dying as Shadow is trapped in a pod.

"Shadow, please promise me... that you'll help people... and be... friends with them..."

"Maria!" Shadow cried out.

She struggles to move.

"I'm sure you'll be very happy down there, Shadow. I only wish that I could go along with you."

The scene changes to show Earth.

"The world looks so beautiful from up here in space. But my grandfather says the people who live there have to face many problems."

The scene changes to show Shadow and Maria under an oak tree on Earth just like the ones Y/N had showed him.

"That's why you were created. To help those people and to be their friend."

Y/N took one more step towards him and hugged him, causing a tear to swell up in Shadow's eye. Amy and Chris notices it. Shadow hugged Y/N back tightly.

"Right, Maria. That's what you were actually hoping for."

Y/N looked at him with a smile and he smirks.

Elsewhere, ten minutes remain, and Sonic, Knuckles, Bocoe, and Decoe enter a giant chamber.

"Up there!" Knuckles pointed.

Suddenly, a giant lizard known as the Biolizard lands in front of them and roars, scaring the hench-bots.

"Calm down. I'm not gonna let that monster get a hold of the Master Emerald." Knuckles assured them.

Shadow and Y/N shows up next to Sonic.

"Leave that thing for us." Shadow said.

"Shadow." Sonic said in surprise and turned to Y/N. "Sis, you're with him?"

"You and the others take care of the Chaos Emeralds, and we'll distract it." Shadow cuts him off.

"We'll talk later. I can do this." Y/N said.

Sonic hesitates. Shadow glances at him, and Sonic finally nods. Shadow rushes forward and Spin Attacks the Biolizard, causing it to roar. Y/N kangaroo jumps forward and brought out her giant fist whip and slammed it down at the Biolizard as it roar again.

"Let's go!" Sonic said.

The four run toward the reactor as Shadow and Y/N dodges and deflects the laser beams the Biolizard fires from its mouth. Sonic and the others carry the Master Emerald to the top of the reactor. Shadow strikes the Biolizard with multiple Chaos Spears while Y/N keeps punching it with her whip.

"I must remember... the seven Chaos Emeralds are the servers. Our hearts intensify their power. The controller serves to unify the chaos."

"You can do it, Knuckles." Sonic said.

Knuckles stretches his hands toward the Master Emerald.

"Master Emerald, I need you to help me. Please stop the Chaos Emeralds!"

Meanwhile, the Biolizard materializes several energy balls around its head before sending them toward Shadow. He grabbed Y/N's hand and dodges several of them with her, then they spun toward Biolizard together, bouncing from ball to ball before landing the final hit on the prototype lifeform. Meanwhile, the Chaos Emeralds fall to the ground, devoid of all power.

"Alright!" Knuckles cheered.

"Good work!" Decoe cheered.

Suddenly, the Biolizard vanishes.

"It's gone." Knuckles said.

Shadow and Y/N teleports in front of them as he hold her hand still.

"Chaos Control!"

Suddenly, the entire station shakes.

"What is happening?" Bocoe nervously asked.

"We are still heading toward the planet!" Decoe exclaimed.

Eggman's voice can now be heard over the intercom.

"Come in, Sonic, Y/N. Do you read me? That monster is still alive! It attached itself to the outside of the space colony. It's pulling us toward the planet!"

Indeed, the Biolizard reappears outside the space station. It fuses with the colony, and is reborn as the Final Lizard. Meanwhile, Knuckles, Bocoe, and Decoe look on as Sonic, Y/N, and Shadow close their eyes and harness the Chaos Emeralds' power along with Y/N's crystal's power to achieve their super forms.

Super Sonic, Super Y/N, and Super Shadow appear outside, ready to take on the Final Lizard. They dodge a laser beam it fires from its mouth.

"Let's give it our best shot!" Shadow said.

"Alright! We can go in at full speed and finish it off." Sonic said.

"Let's do this!" Y/N said with a determined glare.

They do damage to the Final Lizard.

"You have to defeat that monster, Sonic and Y/N." Amy said.

"Sonic... Y/N... Shadow..." Chris said.

"Topaz, you read me?" Rouge asked over the radio.

In Earth

"Yes, Rouge. What's going on there? I don't understand what Sonic's and Y/N's up to." Topaz replied over the radio.

Scarlet reports on the situation while Mr. Stewart looks on.

"That large red object is actually Space Colony ARK glowing as it reenters the atmosphere. For fifty years, its existence was kept a secret. In the course of our investigation, we uncovered a conspiracy within our intelligence services that now threatens the survival of this planet. Our only hope lies in the bravery of three hedgehogs who are now fighting for all of us."

Danny, Frances, and Helen also watch the battle. Chuck, Ella, Hikaru, Cream, and Cheese also watch from their apartment.

"Please, Sonic... Y/N..."

"Chao chaaaaaooo!!"

Bokkun cheers on the hedgehogs from atop the Egg Golem, which is standing on top of Eggman's base.

"Sonic, Y/N, goooooooo!!"

The Final Lizard fires three lasers from its mouth at once. The three superpowered hedgehogs easily avoid them, then target the giant lizard's back simultaneously. Even though the Final Lizard is beaten, the space station continues toward Earth. It starts to become engulfed in flames as it enters Earth's atmosphere.

"You're stopping right here!" Sonic said.

The three hedgehogs use all their might to try and push the space station back into space. They hear the cheers of their friends.

"You can do it, Sonic, Y/N!" Tails cheered.

"Give it all you got, Shadow!" Eggman cheered.

"If you fail, the entire planet will be destroyed!" Rouge said.

"Tough it out, you guys!" Knuckles cheered.

"You can do it!" Amy cheered.

"Sonic! Y/N!" Chris shouted.

"Those people need you, Shadow..." Maria's voice said inside Shadow's head.

"I am Shadow! Shadow the Hedgehog!"

Shadow casts off his limiters, greatly intensifying his strength.

"You ready?" Shadow asked.

"Yeah!" Y/N nodded.

"You bet! Here we come!" Sonic smirked.

They prepare their most powerful move as Y/N summoned her bow and arrow.

"Chaos!"

"Control!"

In a brilliant display of light, Y/N released the energy arrow as Sonic and Shadow use Chaos Control to send the colony back into orbit with the help of her power. Shadow is nowhere to be seen. The timer is frozen at 00:00:50:29.

"Maria... I did it... for you... Y/N... Thank you..."

In Earth, confetti falls as the people celebrate. Back in the Space Colony ARK in the viewport.

"My grandfather was truly a genius. Ever since I was a lad, he was my one true hero. I always wanted to become a great scientist like him. But he shouldn't have tried to destroy the planet. How could he do something so wrong?" Eggman said over the intercom.

"I don't know, but you helped us all to save the world." Tails said.

"I'm so happy the planet was saved. Now I can conquer it and establish my Empire!"

"You still want to take over the world?" Amy asked dumbfounded.

"Affirmative!" Decoe said over the intercom.

"You're welcome to join us if you would like." Bocoe said over the intercom.

"No thank you." Tails said.

Eggman laughs as he, Decoe, and Bocoe take off in a space shuttle. Sonic and Y/N enters the room.

"Sonic! Y/N!" Chris, Amy, and Tails exclaimed in happiness.

Chris walks over to Sonic and Y/N and stopped to notice one more hedgehog is missing.

"Hey, where's Shadow?"

Sonic looks down sadly and shakes his head. He looks over to Y/N who's looking sad as she held one of Shadow's limiters.

"Y'know, maybe Professor Robotnik wanted Shadow to stop his crazy plan all along." Rouge said, frowning to see Y/N sad.

"We'll never know. But in the end, Shadow sacrificed everything to save us all."

Chris looks at Y/N who begins to silently cry as one of her tears falls on the limiter.

"He sure did." Rouge agreed.

Chris leans down to her level as he and Sonic pats Y/N on the back.

"Come on, sis. Let's head back. Space is fine, but I like my feet on the ground." Sonic said.

"It's okay, Y/N. Shadow's a hero and we'll forget that." Chris said.

"The rocket's ready! It's time to go!" Tails said.

As the group leaves the room and the lights dim, Y/N takes one last look at the room and the view of Earth. The vision showed Shadow and Maria looking through the viewport at the planet Earth happily. She noticed the old photo on the ground and picked it up. It was the picture of Gerald and Maria. She smiled sadly and held it close to her chest and hid it in her shirt. Y/N looked at the limiter and placed it on around her right wrist.

"Adios, Shadow the Hedgehog."
