That night at the national museum, the mysterious hedgehog shows up in front of an exhibit containing a Chaos Emerald. Immediately the alarms sound, and the hedgehog runs out, only to be met by several GUN Beetles. They fire at him, but he smirks and nimbly dodges them. Then he uses a powerful energy that destroys the Beetles as he makes his getaway.

In Thorndyke's apartment, Chris, Chuck, Ella, Tanaka, Cream, and Cheese are watching the news along with Y/N who came back for a visit.

"And now a breaking news story. I'm standing in the main pavilion in the Nation Museum of Art, where earlier tonight, a thief broke through security and stole a priceless Chaos Emerald. Authorities found these images on tapes confiscated from the museum's security cameras."

The camera foorage shows the mysterious hedgehog breaking the glass surrounding the Chaos Emerald. He appears in front of the camera and grins before making his getaway.

"Was that Sonic?"

"No! It can't be him! I know him more than anything! He will never do such terrible thing!" Y/N stood up in anger.

"Yeah! It can't be! Sonic would never take something that doesn't belong to him!" Cream agreed.

"Chao chao chao chao chao chao!"

"Yeah, right. That was Sonic on those security tapes." Chuck said.

The others become mad at him. Y/N was mostly mad.

"How dare you accuse him like that?! Do you even have proof?!"

"It can't be!"

"He was framed!" Ella and Tanaka yelled.

"That's right!"

"Chao chao!"

"Uh... Maybe it wasn't him. I guess you can't always believe your eyes." Chuck nervously said, trying to look away from Y/N's fiery eyes.

"Surprisingly enough, authorities have determined from this footage that the thief is none other than Sonic the Hedgehog. According to reports, Sonic has destroyed numerous government tanks and fled to an unknown location."

"But there... there must be some kind of mistake. Sonic wouldn't..."

"Of course he wouldn't, Mr. Chris. I'm sure there are some explanations." Ella assured him.

Tanaka nods. Chris walks over to the window and looks up at the sky.

"I know, Sonic. I know him. There has to be a mistake." Y/N clenched her fist.

"Please don't be mad, Y/N." Cream held her hand.

"She's right. Anger will not help show that Sonic is innocent." Ella said.

Y/N sighed, taking a deep breath.

"You're right..."

Suddenly, the phone rung and Chuck picked it up.

"You're kidding! Unbelievable. Well, be sure to call us right away if anything else happens."

He hangs up.

"That was your father. Apparently Sonic's been spotted battling a government robot on downhill street."

Chris and Y/N instantly got up and ran out of the room.

"Chris, Y/N, where are you going?" Ella called.

"I will follow them, Mr. Thorndyke." Tanaka said and left.

"Slow down! I'll come with you." Chuck said and left as well.

Tanaka is driving Chris, Y/N, and Chuck to Central City when they see Sonic and the other hedgehog running toward them. He looks almost like him except he's black and red. The black hedgehog vanishes, and the car skids to a stop. The other hedgehog reappears and kicks Sonic to the ground. Y/N was shocked that someone can get through her brother's speed. She noticed he had something shiny and glowing in his hand. He holds it up.

"He's got a Chaos Emerald!" Chris gasped.

"Where'd you get that Chaos Emerald, you faker? Hand it over!"

The black hedgehog teleports behind Sonic.

"You can do better than that, Sonic." he said, smirking. "If you don't light a fire under those feet, you'll never get this emerald back."

Y/N got enraged as she took her whip out. Sonic leaps into the air, and attempts to kick Shadow, but he teleports again. Sonic is shocked.

"He really is faster than I am!"

"But that's not speed. He's disappearing!" Chuck said.

"Woah!" Chris said.

Y/N jumped out of the car and looked around for any sign of him until she saw him on top of a street lamp.

"That's not all. I'm full of surprises." the black hedgehog said.

"Grandpa!" Chris gasped.

Y/N realized what he was going to do with that emerald and jumped up behind him and wrapped her whip around him tight.

"Hold it right there, you faker! You're going to pay for making my brother look like a criminal!" she growled.

"You go, Y/N!" cheered Sonic.

"Y/N, huh." he smirked. "So you're Sonic's sister. I'm surprised that you caught me from behind."

Y/N scoffed and brought him up in the air and was about to give him a kick when he vanished. She was shocked that he could get through her whip. She looked around in mid-air. The black hedgehog reappears behind her and kicks her.

"Ah!"

"Y/N!" they screamed.

Y/N fell to the ground. She groaned in pain and slowly got up.

"But you can't stop me." he said and raised the green Chaos Emerald in the air. "Chaos Control."

"What the heck? Not only can he disappear, he can cause Chaos Control? Who the heck is he?" she thought.

The green emerald brightened up and he vanished again. Sonic growled and stood up when the black hedgehog reappeared next to Sonic and delivered blow after blow.

"Sonic!" Y/N cried out.

"Leave him alone!" Chris cried out in worry.

"You like to fight dirty, don'cha?" Sonic growled.

"Consider yourself fortunate. If it wasn't for the limiter on my arm, you'd be dead." he smirked walking over and overshadowed Sonic. "Many years ago, Professor Gerald Robotnic endowed me with the power of Chaos Control. I'm Shadow, the greatest lifeform. A normal creature like yourself doesn't stand a chance against me."

"Don't underestimate us 'normal' types." Sonic said.

"Think again, faker!!"

"Huh?"

Shadow looked back a little too late to see a giant fist flying towards him and punched him straight in the face. He yelled in pain, rubbing his check to see Y/N with an angry expression as she held the giant fist whip as the fist hit the ground.

"You may be fast at disappearing in the blink of an eye. But you can't stop me from taking you down!" she said, spinning her whip-fist and throwing it towards him, making him to dodge it, leaving a dent in the ground.

"Not bad for a girl like you to actually punch me." he smirked.

"I have more tricks than this." she smirked back and jumped up in the air again and spun her whip-fist again and threw it down towards him again, but he vanished.

Y/N looked back to see him already behind her and she made her whip disappear and brought out her sword and swung at Shadow. He dodged every swing that went in his way, making her growl in frustration.

"He really is fast! Not to mention he's tough!"

Y/N spun around to try to roundhouse kick him, but he smacked her leg out of the way. They both landed safely on the street as Sonic and his friends watched.

"Y/N can't defeat him! He's too fast!" Chris exclaimed.

"This does not look good." Chuck agreed.

Y/N panted, feeling tired. Shadow noticed it and smirked.

"What's the matter? Already tired? I'm just warming up."

Y/N shook her head out of her tiredness and put her fists up. He smirked even wider and walked over to her.

CLICK!

He looked down to see the button already blinking.

"Didn't think you see that one coming, did you?" she chuckled.

Shadow was flown up in the air after the bomb exploded, leaving a puff of smoke. He vanished again and landed on the streetlamp.

"Huh. You're good. I can tell you that."

Y/N smirked in satisfaction. Shadow vanished again and she got ready, bringing out her whip. Sonic noticed the smoke was slowly disappearing when he saw a figure of Shadow coming behind her and he swiftly took her whip away without her noticing.

"Sis! Look out!"

Y/N turned back to see him and was about to lassoe him when she noticed her whip was gone and he had it.

"Did you see that one coming?" Shadow asked with a smile.

He spun it and wrapped the whip around her. She grunted and tried to get out of the grip of her own whip.

"I think I will take you with me. You will be perfect to help me find more Chaos Emeralds."

He pulled her towards him with the whip and carried her over his shoulder.

"No! Let her go!" Sonic exclaimed, trying to get up.

"Y/N!" Chris tried to come after her when Chuck stopped him.

Shadow glances up for a moment, hearing the sound of the approaching authorities, then looks back at Sonic.

"Hmph. I had a feeling I should make myself scarce. Goodbye, Sonic the Hedgehog. It certainly was a great pleasure. Chaos Control!"

"Sonic!" Y/N screamed for her brother, trying to reach him.

"Y/N!"

But it was too late as Shadow uses the Chaos Emerald to vanish both himself and Y/N as several police cars, helicopters, and GUN Beetles arrive. Sonic is led in handcuffs to a helicopter. Knowing his friends, they will find a way to get him out of the jail and prove that he's not the criminal.

"Don't worry, Y/N. I'll save you. I promise myself I will always protect my sister."

The helicopter takes off. Shadow and Y/N watches from a distance. He headed back to Eggman's base with Y/N over his shoulder as she struggled throughout the way.

Eggman and his hench-bots are celebrating their victory with Shadow.

"Yippee!!"

A confetti ball opens.

"We did it! We did iiiit!!"

Eggman shakes Shadow's hand.

"That hedgehog's in the hoosegow thanks to you, Shadow! And you got our prisoner, Y/N! Oh! This is just too good!!"

Shadow glances at Y/N who was chained up to the wall.

"He is practically busting his buttons." Decoe commented.

"That jacket always was tight around the tummy." Bocoe added.

"Remember, doctor, you must still obtain five more Chaos Emeralds in order to use the Eclipse Cannon. But when you do, it will give you ultimate power and make you master of the universe."

"Eclipse Cannon??" Y/N questioned.

"Quiet prisoner!" robots ordered.

She gave them the glare, making them flinch.

"Sounds good to me! And now to hash out the rest of our dastardly strategy. Let's see.." Eggman said.

Bokkun flies in holding his TV.

"Dr. Eggman! For I have a message for you this time!" he giggled.

He tosses the screen to Eggman, and it activates. Rouge is shown holding a bouquet of roses.

"Hiya, doc. Long time no see. I was wondering if we could get together to discuss a little business transaction." she said in a seductive tone.

"Rouge..." gasped Y/N.

"A business transaction?" Decoe questioned.

"I would not trust her, doctor." Bocoe said.

"Who asked your bold brain? Fetch her, right away!" ordered Eggman.

"Uh oh!"

"Here we go!"

The outside of the pyramid base is shown while the TV explodes. Bokkun laughs along with Y/N to see them get a taste of their own medicine. Shadow turned his head to her and she quickly stopped, looking away from him.

"That's not funny!!" Eggman yelled.

"Don't blame me! Lots of stuff have television bombs!" Bokkun exclaimed before laughing.

A second later, Rouge drops in still holding her roses.

"Ah! I didn't expect you so soon!" exclaimed Eggman.

"Good evening, doctor." she greeted. "I have a little something I like to show you."

Rouge shows him the blue Chaos Emerald.

"A Chaos Emerald!" Eggman gasped.

"No way!" Y/N gasped.

"Ah. Well, hello again, Y/N. It's so good to see you. How are ya hanging?" she smirked, looking at her.

"Oh, I've been better." Y/N said in sarcasm. "Not! What are you doing, Rouge?"

"Nothing. Just giving the doctor the reward he deserves." Rouge said, giving her the wink that she's up to something.

Y/N realized what she was doing and didn't say anything. Although, Rouge is worried that Y/N was captured and will help get her out.

"It's all yours, Eggie. If you agree to my conditions. All you have to do is be a good boy and play nice and I'll tell you where the others are. What do you say, doc? Do we have a deal?" Rouge suggested, turning to Shadow, noticing him, making him scoff and turn around.

"That depends." Eggman said. "What do you want?"

Y/N noticed Shadow had a bit of a sad look on his face, like he remembers someone he cared for deeply.

"Pleasure before business. Who's this charming friend of yours? I'm Rouge the Bat. What's your name?"

"It's Shadow." he replied, looking back at her. "Shadow the Hedgehog."

"Oh!"

Rouge is startled by Shadow's ruby red eyes.

"I know. It's like we have another hedgehog that looks exactly like my brother Sonic. But he's nothing like a hedgehog. He's more of a faker." Y/N scoffed.

"Who asked you?" Shadow snapped.

"No one."

"Say. Why is she here all chained up?" Rouge asked in confusion, but with a hint of worry.

"I captured her because she is going to help us find more Chaos Emeralds. And she will work with us. I saw how she can fight." Shadow replied.

"Yeah! She managed to hit Shadow two or three times." Decoe added.

"Interesting." Rouge said.

"Like I'm ever going to help you!" Y/N growled, trying to get out of the chains.

"Oh, you will, sweetie. And Shadow makes a good point!" Eggman said with an evil smile.

Y/N stopped struggling and looked down.

"Sonic. Chris. Hikaru. Everyone."

Meanwhile, in the Prison Island, Sonic is sitting alone in his chamber. It is surrounded on all sides by water, making it practically escape-proof. There are various mathematical formulas on the walls.

"What a day... Who'd have thought I'd be thrown in jail for something I didn't do? I'd better think fast, use my time wisely, and figure out who that Shadow was, and what he wants. Especially, Y/N. What does he want with her and why?"
