Sonic races up to the top of a skyscraper as a massive cleanup effort is underway. Various debris is removed by front loaders as three people attempt to right a car. Sonic jumps down from the building and runs through the city. Y/N rocket skated over the top building as she looked around for any sign of people until she stopped to hear the sound of the whimper. The noise is coming from within one of the wrecked buildings.

At Chris' school, a large helicopter has landed in the yard, where Mr. Stewart and his students are. Mr. Stewart shield his face from the spinning rotors' wind.

"Okay, class, ready to carry the rescue supplies to the cafeteria?" Mr. Stewart asked.

"Yeah!"

The helicopter's door opens, revealing Nelson Thorndyke.

"Chris!"

Chris run over.

"Dad! What are you doing here?"

"I thought I'd drop in and see how you were doing." Nelson winked.

"...I'm fine."

 Soon, the kids are packing and stacking boxes. Frances wipes her brow. Other people are present.

"These boxes are heavy. ... Hoo, I need to take a break."

"That's okay. Why don't you go play and let me and Chris finish the unloading?" Danny said.

Frances is not impressed. Just as she was about to say something, Hikaru walks over and helped her carry the heavy box.

"How about you and I carry it together? I know you still want to help." he said and chuckled. "Or you can carry as much as Danny if that's what you're thinking."

Frances blushed.

"That would be nice. Thank you, Hikaru."

"Anytime."

"Our son and our dog are lost."

Chris, Danny, Hikaru, and Frances turn to see a mother and father talking with a police officer.

"Did the search parties find them?"

"No, ma'am." Police Officer shook his head.

The mother begins crying until Sonic arrives holding a small boy.

"This your kid?"

Second later, Y/N arrives holding a beagle."

"Is this your dog?"

"Mom!" the boy cried out as the dog barks.

The mother scoops up the child up and hugs him as the dog got off of Y/N and joined in the hug as the father carried him.

"Jim! You're safe!"

"Sonic, Y/N, thanks a lot."

"You two are wonderful."

"You're welcome." Y/N smiled, blushing.

Sonic makes an "It was nothing" gesture as Chris and his friends smile.

The Thorndykes are ready to leave. Danny, Frances, Helen, Amy, Tails, and Cream stand by. Chris hugs his mother goodbye.

"I'll miss you, darling."

"Me too, Mom."

"This is it... Goodbye..."

Cream begins to cry. Amy and Tails glance at each other.

"What's the big deal?" Chuck asked.

"Yeah. I promise you'll all be seeing each other again in a month or two, just as soon as we have everything cleaned up with the house." Nelson reassured.

"Don't forget to send me a postcard." Danny said to Chris.

"Me too, Chris. 'K?" Frances said.

"And me, too! Tell Y/N that I miss her and she's awesome!" Hikaru piped in.

"I will." Chris smiled.

"I wish you could stay, Chris. Things won't be the same without you or Mr. Stewart around." Helen said.

Chris looks around.

"Aren't Sonic and Y/N gonna come say goodbye?"

"Sonic had to run and Y/N went out to explore, but they did say to tell me they'd see you later, Chris." Amy said.

"Oh..."

"Don't you worry, Chris. If your feeling lonely, just call us, and we'll all hop in the X-Tornado and fly over to see you." Tails reassured. "And Sonic and Y/N can run there for a visit in no time at all!"

"I'll still miss you guys."

"Don't worry. Two months isn't all that long, and time passes a lot quicker when you first move to a new place." Amy crossed her arms.

"I guess so..."

Soon Chris, Ella, Cream, Tanaka, and Chuck depart in a camper. The others wave goodbye.

"By, Chris!!"

"Bye, guys! See ya!" Chris waved back.

It is evident that everyone traveling is sad about the move, especially Cream and Tanaka.

In the Area 99, scientists are developing more robot varieties.

"With these robots, we can defeat Dr. Eggman once and for all."

"Yes, our designs are technically superior to his in every way."

Unknown to them, a spy robot has just recorded their conversation.

"That's am impossibility. If their robots were better, that would make them smarter than me." Eggman scoffed.

"It does look like they made progress, Doctor." Decoe said.

"If it is true, we will be in big trouble." Bocoe added.

"Then I'll find out. All I have to do is hack into their main computer, and I'll have access to all their robot designs."

Eggman hacks his way into the GUN computer, and a password screen appears.

"I'll log in."

He bypasses the password and enters the GUN library. There are several robot varieties shown on the screen.

"Great. We're in. ... How did they come up with all these designs so quickly?"

GUN Beetle, GUN Hawk, Shield Hunter, Laser Hunter, Rhino Tank, Blue Eagle, Prof. Gerald Robotnik...

"It can't be!"

He begins scrolling through Professor Gerald Robotnik's diary. One such entry reads as follows.

"Dr. Eggman?"

"Is something wrong?"

"Unbelievable... This can only mean... This world is the world I was born in."

Decoe and Bocoe are shocked.

"This is Professor Gerald Robotnik, who is the greatest scientific genius of his time. He's my grandfather."

"Does this mean there is a connection between this world and one we came from?" Decoe guessed.

"But how could that be?" Bocoe asked.

"The two world are in parallel universes, and share the exact same position in time and space. Each is unaware of the other's existence. But thanks to Chaos Control, we traveled between them. Let's see if there is any data on my grandfather that can clear up this mystery..."

A password screen appears.

"Let's try 'Eggman'."

He tries to hack his way around the password, but an ERROR screen appears.

"Error?"

He continues to hack, but the ERROR screen keeps reappearing.

"'Robotnik'? ... Gah! No waaay!"

Then a memory of his grandfather comes to him. A young girl is with him.

"Maria! Yes... Yes..."

He types in the password.

"Ma... ri... a... Come on..."

The TOP SECRET screen appears.

"You did it!" Decoe cheered.

An alarm goes off in the GUN base. One security officer approaches another.

"Huh?"

"It's a hacker. He used an unknown password to get into one of out databases. It holds a top-secret file that nobody's looked at for years."

"What? Cut off his access!"

The screen indicates that GUN has detected the hacker.

"They detected us." Eggman said.

"Download proceeding."

"Affirmative. Deleting original file from host computer."

"File deletion proceeding."

It is a race against time as Eggman hurries to download the file and delete the original file.

"Download complete in three seconds... Done!" Bocoe said.

"Original file deleted now!" Decoe said.

Eggman wipes his brow.

"Whew... Hacking sure is hard work. Now... Let's look at that file."

He opens the file.

"Wha... This is... my grandfather's diary!"

As Eggman reads the entry, a flashback is shown of Gerald in prison at his computer:

"I've done it! My greatest design is now complete - the untimate creature: Shadow! My enemies think they have defeated me, but Shadow will carry out my orders without question. Now it sleeps, but one day it will be reawakened! Shadow will bring total destruction!"

Eggman stops reading.

"Heheh... I will awaken Shadow for you, Grandfather!"

Y/N was sleeping on the large branch in one of the massive tree with a nice shade as she started dreaming. Her crystal began to glow and the white smoke flew out of it and flew into her head. She found herself in the white room as she took a walk.

"Hello? Anybody there?"

Y/N stopped to see a black figure of the hedgehog with their back facing her. At first she thought it was her brother so she took a step closer.

"Sonic? Is that you?"

The hedgehog didn't answer and slowly turn to face her. Once she got a good view, she was shocked, realizing it's not her brother, but someone else.

"Wha?! W-Who are you?"

Just as she was about to get answers, the dream ends. Y/N gasped and sat up, looking around to find herself back in the present. She took a deep breath as sweats form on her head.

"What was that?..."

An explosion rocks the guitar-shaped island.

"What's wrong?" Officer asked in confusion.

The facility goes on lockdown.

"Intruder Alert. Intruder alert. Hostile forces have penetrated Prison Island defenses at Gate #3. This is not a drill. Repeat: This is not a drill. Secure all entryways. Emergency lockdown procedures are effective immediately. The intruder is headed for the research area. Security units in the area, stand by for an assault. All other units prepare for a counterattack. This is not a drill. Repeat: This is not a drill."

Another fiery explosion reveals a laughing Eggman in his Eggmobile.

"This is more fun than hacking! Let's see... According to that computer file I stole, Project Shadow is this way. If it's as destructive as my grandfather claimed, then I can use it to rule this world, and no one can stop me!"

"Wait up for us, Eggman!"

Eggman turns to see Bocoe and Decoe wearing military helmets.

"We are going to attack the lab with you."

"No thanks. I'd rather go it alone."

He moves away, and his hench-bots give chase.

"But I am lean! And mean!"

"I can kick any robot hard drive!"

"Give us a chance to prove ourselves!"

A door above them opens, and a Laser Hunter drops down to fight them. Bocoe and Decoe hug each other out of fear.

"So, it's Laser Hunter."

The Laser Hunter fires its laser at the Eggmobile, but Eggman presses a button.

"Shield up."

A force field is projected, blocking the attack.

"My turn now."

Eggman fires lasers of his own, destroying the Laser Hunter. He laughs.

"I think his hunting license just expired! Stop cowering! Let's go!"

He begins moving again.

"Wait, Doctor!" Decoe cried out.

"Do not leave us here!" Bocoe whined.

"Wait for us!"

They follow, unaware that a GUN robot is just ahead.

"I wonder why no more robots are attacking."

"We must have defeated them all."

"Not quite yet. There's one hiding up ahead."

The robot ambushes them and opens fire, but the Eggmobile hovers above it and crushes it. Eggman laughs.

"Another crushing victory."

Decoe and Bocoe cautiously look around. They see that they have finally arrived at the chamber.

"Oh. This room could use a good dusting."

"The machinery has not been used in a very long time. ... Are you sure this is the right place, Doctor?"

"According to the records, the Shadow creature is sleeping in that machine."

Eggman moves over to a keypad.

"Time to wake it up."

He climbs out of the Eggmobile and begins typing on the keypad.

"First, I enter a fake user ID, then I enter the password. M-A-R-I-A. No I'll give it some juice with this Chaos Emerald and we're all set!"

After he inserts the Chaos Emerald, the machine begins glowing. Steam hisses from the pipes, filling the room. A stasis tube opens, revealing a hedgehog-like figure similar to Sonic that Y/N saw earlier in her dream, but its quills are pointed upward.

"Huh?! You! It can't be...!"

The hedgehog stands up and faces Eggman.
