Chris, Chuck, Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, and Big are gathered up in the lab, drinking coffee.

"Shouldn't we be out trying to stop Eggman instead of taking a coffee break?" Sonic asked.

"I'm hoping that we could put our heads together and unravel the mystery of Eggman's Chaos creature." Chuck said. 

"It's the most powerful thing I've ever seen. We watched it gulp down two Chaos Emeralds like they were candy." Knuckles said.

"They made that thing even stronger!" Sonic said. "Not only that! But he tried to eat my sister!"

"What?" Chris gasped.

"It's true. It had something to do with this necklace." Y/N said, showing them the crystal. "It may have some sort of connection to the Chaos Emeralds."

"That's what I was thinking." Knuckles said.

"It sounds like it's going to be a real challenge to defeat this creature." Chris said.

"It will. I knew it would be trouble when I saw it on Angel Island." Knuckles said and began to explain what happened. "After Chaos Control happened, Angel Island was transported into this world. That's where the Master Emerald was, and I guarded it around the clock. One night, a huge bolt of lightning woke me up. But this wasn't an ordinary thunderstorm. Something very strange was happening at the summit. I knew the Master Emerald was in danger, but it was too late. And that's when I saw it."

"If the Master Emerald's on Angel Island, why aren't you there now protecting it?"

"Because it's too late. The Chaos creature made sure of that."

Knuckles then told them that the Master Emerald has been shattered and that the Angel Island had fallen into the ocean. Y/N grew worried as Knuckles became silent after. She grabbed his hand to comfort him, making him look at her hand.

"You shouldn't blame yourself for what that creature did, Knuckles." Chuck said.

"Big, when you were looking for Froggy in the forest, didn't you see something that looked like Chaos?" Chris asked.

"I tried to catch Froggy, but he was faster than me, and he hopped away with something I found in the forest." Big said.

"What was that?" Chuck asked.

"It was a big purple rock. It looked awful pretty when it was glowing."

Chris stands up.

"That sounds like it could have been a Chaos Emerald!"

"If that's the case, then we'd better find that little frog quick or it won't survive long."

"Why, Grandpa?"

"Because Dr. Eggman is determined to do anything to seize an Emerald. The more Emeralds he feeds that Chaos creature, the easier it will be to take over this world."

"He's right. There's no way we can fight him if he keeps getting harder and stronger." Y/N agreed.

"It's vital we find those Emeralds before Eggman uses their power to conquer us all."

Sonic stands up.

"No sweat. I'll find 'em."

"You have a plan, Sonic?" Chris asked.

"You know I prefer to think on my feet."

"I'll go and look for the broken pieces of the Master Emerald." Knuckles said.

"I'll come with you, Knuckles. I need to know about this crystal." Y/N said.

"What? No way, sis. What if you get hurt?"

"I'll be fine. Just trust me. Trust Knuckles." Y/N looked at him, making him sigh.

"Fine..."

"I guess Big and I can go try to look for Froggy together." Chris said.

"Hm... that's a good idea." Big nodded.

Ella, Cream, and Cheese watch the others go their separate ways.

At the Station Square, police officers are blocking off a damaged casino. Knuckles and Y/n arrives.

"What happened, officer?" Knuckles asked.

"Hey, it's Knuckles and Y/N." Police Officer 1 said.

"Whoa! Think you and me could get a picture taken to show the guys back at the station?" Police Officer 2 asked them.

"Sorry, not right now." Y/N said.

"Yeah, maybe later. Do you guys have any idea what smashed into that building?" Knuckles said.

"Well, sort of. Witnesses say it was a glowing object that fell from the sky."

Knuckles grabs the officer.

"A what? You're sure?!"

"Well, I..."

"Knuckles! Don't scare him like that!" Y/N scolded, smacking his head.

The officers take Knuckles and Y/N into the casino. There is a Master Emerald shard embedded in the ground.

"A piece of the Master Emerald..."

Knuckles bends down, and the shard levitates into the air and lands in his hand, shocking the officers. Then the crystal glows as well as Y/N's crystal, and both of them had a vision. The vision takes Knuckles and Y/N to the Master Emerald shrine.

"This place seems like Mystic Ruin, but the buildings should be ancient. Why do they look brand new?"

As Knuckles advances toward the shrine, Y/N tapped his shoulder and pointed. They caught sight of Knuckles' ancestors, Tikal the Echidna and her father, Chief Pachacamac.

"We must stop the invasion, Father." Tikal pleaded.

"Tikal, you know I must seize those Emeralds for the good of our tribe. When we have them, we will be strong." Chief said.

"But this plan of yours is foolish! It will bring nothing but grief to our land and cause needless pain and suffering to our neighbors! There must be another way. We should not try to help our own kind by bringing harm to someone else. It's wrong."

The vision ends.

"You two feeling okay?" Police Officer asked.

"Yeah, we're fine." Y/N said as Knuckles nodded.

"Since there wasn't a crime, we won't need that rock as evidence, will we?"

"No. Knuckles can keep it." Police Officer 2 said.

"If you find any more Emeralds like this, let me know."

Knuckles leaves with the shard as Y/N wave goodbye.

"Thanks for your help, officers."

"What we saw earlier, I can't believe your ancestors would do something cruel. I'm glad you're not like them."

"Yeah. It's a good thing."

"But I can't seem to understand about why my crystal was somehow connected to the emeralds."

"Well, hopefully the more we collect the emeralds, the more we'll understand and know the truth." Knuckles said, looking at the shard.

"I gotta go. I had a feeling Sonic and Tails might be in trouble. I'll see you there." Y/N said and patted his shoulder and kangaroo jumped away with the rocket.

"See ya, Y/N." he smiled and walked away alone.

Y/N looked around through the city for any sign of Sonic and Tails when she heard a familiar noise and looked up to the sky to see the Egg Carrier flying over the city with X-Tornado on its tail. She knew that they're in trouble as she scan for anything to get her to go faster and found a motorcycle with a man leaning against it.

"Excuse me, sir! I gotta borrow this! This is an emergency!" she said, hoping on, catching him off guard as she already started the motorcycle, puts on a cat helmet, and drove away.

The man coughed from the dust that was made as Y/N drove away. Instead of being mad, he gave a wave as he recognized her.

"Good luck!"

"I'll bring it back! I promise!"

Y/N made the motorcycle go faster as she follow after the X-Tornado and the Egg Carrier.

In the skies above Station Square

"Stay on him, Tails!" Sonic said.

The X-Tornado and Egg Carrier exchange laser fire. A new laser turret appears and blasts the X-Tornado.

"I'll have to knock that thing out!" Tails said.

The targeting computer's crosshairs align with the laser turret.

"Missiles away!"

The X-Tornado fires several missiles at the turret, destroying it.

"Let's finish him!"

"Ready when you are, Sonic!"

The Eggman Cannon fires a massive beam that breaks off part of one of the X-Tornado wings and otherwise damage the craft.

"He hit our wing!"

The X-Tornado plummets.

Y/N gasped to see the X-Tornado going down.

"Sonic! Tails!"

She made it in time to see Sonic okay as he rubbed his head.

"Sonic! Where's Tails?!" she exclaimed, getting off of the motorcycle.

"I don't know. Let's find him."

Her and Sonic searched around through the X-Tornado and she found Tails unconscious with some bruises.

"Oh my God! Tails! Tails, are you okay?"

Y/N carried him in bridal style, checking his pulse. Sonic came as soon as he heard her and gasped to see him in pain.

"We should take him home. What should we do with the X-Tornado?"

"Here. Use my phone to call them."

She handed him her phone.

"Thanks, sis."

"Be back home soon while I take care of Tails."

Y/N took Tails to the motorcycle and held him as she drove away, leaving Sonic to smile seeing that as he saw Chuck's name and made a call.

In the Thorndyke mansion in the living room, Tails awakens to find that he is wearing bandages and is lying on the couch as he looks around.

"Huh? A dream?"

He sits up.

"But where am I?"

He notices Chuck standing nearby and Y/N sitting on the couch next to him.

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

Y/N gave him a hug, causing him to blush.

"Tails! You had me worried."

"I'm alright, Y/N. Though my head hurts... Where's Sonic?"

"He's fine. Your piloting skills saved you both from serious injury or worse."

Sonic is watching the news. The Egg Carrier is seen firing its lasers. Then the picture cuts to the citizens below. They are talking about the Egg Carrier.

"The skies in Station Square erupted in turmoil earlier this afternoon as Dr. Eggman battled the X-Tornado."

"Oh, no way!"

"Eggman's come to take over Station Square again!"

"Unfortunately, Eggman got away in his ship."

Tails looks down sadly.

"I'm afraid the X-Tornado's sustained heavy damage." Chuck said.

"But we're not giving up, are we, Sonic? We're going to get those Emeralds back somehow!" Tails declared.

"You bet we are!" Sonic gave him thumbs up.

"Amy and Cream went out shopping. I hope they make it back without any trouble."

"I'll check on 'em." Sonic said.

Tails was about to get up when Y/N pushed him back on the couch.

"Oh, no you don't Tails. You need to rest."

"But Y/N..."

"No, buts! You stay here and rest. If you don't listen then, I'll just destroy some of your inventions." Y/N stare at Tails with seriousness.

Tails gulped, not wanting her to get angry if he disobeys her or else no invention for him to make. He then nodded and did what she said and lie back down.

"Keep an eye on him, Chuck."

"Yes, ma'am." Chuck saluted.

"Let's go, bro."

"Right."

The hedgehog siblings leaves as Chuck stayed with Tails.

"She can be scary."

"Yep. Very."

Sonic and Y/N are searching around in the Station Square for any sign of Amy, Cream, and Cheese when they heard a familiar scream. Their eyes widen.

"Amy!"

They ran to find bags of spilled food, and a vaguely humanoid green robot with a trashcan-like head escaping with Amy and the little blue bird she was holding. Y/N immediately noticed that the bird was wearing a brown pendant with a familiar shiny blue.

"Let me goooooo!!" Amy struggled to get out of its grip.

"Please, somebody help her!" Cream said who was on the ground with Cheese.

"Chao chao!"

Sonic and Y/N runs past them.

"Hold on, Amy!"

"We're coming!"

"Sonic! Y/N!" Amy shouted.

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED."

The robot takes off into the sky.

"Amy!" Sonic and Y/N cried out.

They can only watch as Amy is being flown out of sight.
