It is now daytime. Chris is out on the balcony, talking on the phone with his mother, Lindsey Thorndyke, while Sonic and Y/N are reclining on the roof above him.

"Oh, this picture has been a disaster, darling. A complete disaster! We've had to stop shooting because there's been torrential rain for days, so there's nothing I can do besides sit and wait. I don't think I'll be back until late next week at the earliest, but I've had plenty of time to go shopping, and I'm having lots of wonderful presents sent. I hope you'll like them. They're coming on Daddy's jet, so you should have them by tonight!" Lindsey said over the phone.

"Thanks, Mom! Mom, there's something I have to- Well, there's something I did which I'm kinda not supposed to." Chris said.

"Christopher, what happened?! Are you all right?"

"Yeah, I'm totally fine. But remember how you said about how I'm not allowed to swim at night, and how you wanted me to stay away from the adult pool?"

Tanaka appears to place Chris' breakfast on the table and leaves.

"Did you go swimming in the adult pool at night by yourself?!"

"Uh... Well... Not exactly." he nervously said, looking up at Sonic and Y/N.

"You see, there were two 'cats' in the pool, and I got them out."

Sonic looks annoyed and Y/N shook her head with a smile, making Chris blush in embarrassment.

"Oh, you have a big heart, just like I do. Next time, ring for Mr. Tanaka, and he'll take care of things, all right? Oh darling, I must run. Kiss Mommy goodbye."

Lindsey and Chris make kissing sounds over the phone before hanging up. Chris scratches behind his head, relieved that the call is over. Sonic leaps down onto the railing and pointed to himself and his sister.

"Take a good look; we're hedgehogs, not cats!"

"Uh... I know. Please don't be mad. You see... my mom wouldn't understand."

"Why wouldn't she?"

Y/N leaps down and landed on the railing next to Sonic.

"I don't think anyone would believe him. Even if he did told them, they would think he's crazy for such things as two talking blue and light blue hedgehogs." she said.

"Really?"

"What else could I say to her? That reminds me... When and where did you guys learn to talk?"

"Good question... Unfortunately, I don't have a very good answer, as I don't remember." Sonic said, scratching his head. "Do you, sis?"

"Nope." she said shaking her head.

"Really?" Chris asked.

The phone rings. Chris answers it. It's his dad, Nelson Thorndyke.

"Hello?"

"Chris, is everything all right?" Nelson said over the phone.

"Hey, Dad! How are ya?"

"I'm fine, but your mother just called and told me you made an emergency rescue last night. I guess our security system can't protect against stray cats that decide they want to go for a moonlight swim. Chris, I know you like animals, but what you did was dangerous! Were you hurt? Did the cats scratch you while you were trying to save them?"

Sonic becomes annoyed again, this time more so than before. Y/N giggled at her brother's annoyance, making him glare at her.

"Mm-mm. No scratches at all. I'm fine, Dad. Honest, I am. It really wasn't that big a deal. After I jumped in and got them out of the water, they were really happy! I could tell." Chris said with a smile.

"Yeah. Gotcha. Yeah."

"Besides, I could've had Grandpa, Ella, or Mr. Tanaka to help me if I need to. Don't worry, Dad. They're taking good care of me."

"Yeah, they'd better be. Listen, Chris, I've got an important meeting to run to. You call me any time you need anything. No more late night swims, promise?"

"Okay, Dad. I promise. See ya soon!"

They hang up. It is evident that Sonic can't take any more of this 'cat' business and Y/N giggled at it again. Chris blushes and laughs nervously. Then he realizes something.

"Mm. I almost forgot. You two must be pretty hungry. I was thinking you must like to have something to eat."

"Yeah, I am a little bit hungry." Y/N said.

"Yeah, I guess I could go for something. What's on the menu?" Sonic asked.

"I checked out hedgehogs on the Internet and found the perfect thing!" Chris replied and holds a plate of an unknown type of food in front of Sonic, who takes one bite and gags.

"Yuck! What is this?!"

"Cat food."

"Bleh! No wonder it tastes like there's cat in it!"

Y/N scooted herself away from the disgusting cat food.

"The website I went to said most hedgehogs love cat food. I guess that doesn't go for all hedgehogs. I can get you a bowl of crickets." Chris explained.

Sonic knocks the plate out of Chris' hands and leaps off the railing onto a tree branch.

"No! Please don't run away!"

"Sorry kid, but crickets don't do it for me."

"I'll get whatever you want, but just don't go!"

"Heh. See ya!"

Sonic leaps away and ran off.

"Come back! Sonic! You could get hurt out there!" Chris tried to call him, but he already disappeared in the blink of an eye.

"Don't worry, Chris. I know him more than anyone. He's always on a run and he'll be back." Y/N assured him, patting his shoulder.

"Are you sure?" Chris asked looking at her.

"I promise you."

"Okay..."

An hour later, Sonic came back as the trio are now in the living room, sitting on the couch, watching Sonic's escapade from the night before on the television. Sonic is eating chips as news reporter Scarlet Garcia reports what happened. While Y/N is drinking a delicious favorite fruit (F/F) smoothie and Chris was watching.

"The supersonic speed demons seen here on police helicopter video has the city baffled." Scarlet said on the TV.

"They were about this high, they were both blue and light blue, and they looked like freaks!" Police officer said.

"I was doing about sixty when this thing went - wooo! - right by me! Another one roller skating some kind of rocket was close behind it." Driver 1 said.

"That thing moved too fast to be a regular animal!" Driver 2 said.

The screen showed the boy with blonde hair and light green eyes. Y/N remembered seeing him from last night when they were being chased, only just for a bit and it seems she caught his eye.

"One of them had a really cool rocket boost attached to their roller skating shoes! It was really fast, it blew my hair away! Hey, Hedgehog Girl, if you're watching, please teach me! Oh, and you're pretty.."

There is then a cut to Dr. Kai Narasu. He is holding a monkey who is playing with his glasses.

"As to the question of whether this is a UMA - Unidentified Mutant Animal - it is positively not. Even the cheetah, which is widely believed to be the fastest member of the animal kingdom, cannot outrun a speeding Formula One police car. Because of this thing, an inescapable conclusion one must inevitably come to is that this so-called "hedgehog" is, in reality, a machine."

Y/N doesn't care what people say about her and her brother as she just ignore them and feeling flattered to hear the boy liking her already. She looked at Sonic who was eating cookies and doesn't care either. That makes two of them. Suddenly, the door opens, and in walks the elderly human of short stature. He has tan skin, wisteria eyes, thick eyebrows, wrinkles beneath his eyes, and gray hair that is combed backwards. His attire consists of a blue shirt with a collar, a green and dark green-striped sweater that he wears over his shirt, a white lab coat, brown pants, and purple shoes with no laces and a bright stripe down their middle. He is Chris' grandfather, Chuck Thorndyke.

"There you are! Guess what? A big, blue and light blue hedgehogs came out of nowhere and outran the S-Team yesterday!" he said.

Chris looks bashful as he and Sonic exchange glances. Chuck then notices Sonic, and Chris smothers the latter with a pillow in an attempt to hide him and Y/N hid behind Chris. 

"Hey, just what do you think you're doing, Chris?!"

Sonic throws the pillow off of him and crossed his arms with a scowl. Chuck looks at Sonic again.

"Blue... Just like that-"

His face changes to one of shock and realization. He grabs Sonic who immediately begins protesting.

"It's him!" he exclaimed.

"Easy, Grandpa!" Chris scolded.

Chuck pulls out a screwdriver.

"Grandpa, what are you doing?!"

"I have to see how this thing is put together!"

He digs the screwdriver into Sonic, who begins yelping. Sonic leaps out of Chuck's grasp and onto the floor across from the coffee table.

"Stand still!"

"Grandpa, wait. He's not a machine. He's Sonic the Hedgehog!"

Chuck blinks and drops the screwdriver. Chris motioned her to come out from behind as she did.

"And this is his sister, Y/N the Hedgehog."

"Hello..." she waved.

The TV showed Scarlet as she told the news to this late-breaking story. The sound of Cream and Cheese on the television diverts their attention.

"Please stay away. I'm scared." Cream whimpered, holding Cheese as it shouts 'Chao chao.'

On the screen, Cream and Cheese can be seen trapped on a billboard. Several firefighters are climbing a ladder to rescue them.

"Please, leave us alone!"

"It's Cream and Cheese!" exclaimed the hedgehog siblings.

"Do you guys know them?" Chris asked.

"We're not the only one who got transported into this weird world after all. I'll save those two!" Sonic said and dashes out of the mansion, only to be stopped by Chris' voice.

"Do you know where they are?!"

Sonic skids to a halt and runs back, shrugging with a sheepish grin. Chris just blinks and Y/N shook her head.

Chris, Chuck, Y/N, and Sonic are now in the garage, with the door open. Chuck is on the phone.

"I thought they'd probably do something along those lines. Well, thanks very much for getting me the scoop and I'll talk to you soon.

He hangs up.

"Well, it seems Sonic's friends have been captured by the police and moved to Area 99."

"Area 99?" Chris asked and a shot of Area 99 is shown. "That's that top-secret military base."

"What?" Sonic questioned.

"It's where the National Defense Force keeps all their tanks, fighter jets, and hi-tech spy equipment."

"That sounds like Eggman's kind of place.."

Y/N's fist tighten in worry and wanted to save Cream and Cheese now before it's too late.

"Your friends have been taken their by the army and placed under a twenty-four hour guard. The authorities believe they could be aliens, or perhaps members of a mutant species developed by an enemy power designed to attack our population." Chuck said and turns to Sonic and Y/N. "I wonder if they might not be right, Sonic, Y/N, eh?"

"Think what you want. I'm gone. Now that I know where my friends are, I'm outta here." Sonic said and walks out of the garage.

"Wait, Sonic. You can't go out without a plan. You can't just run out without thinking." Y/N stopped him.

"Relax, sis. Nothing can stop me. I'll figure it out."

He walked past her when the garage door closes.

"Whoa! Open that door!"

"Don't look at me! I didn't do anything nor touch it!" Y/N raised her hands up in surrender.

"Me neither!" Chris nodded.

"Ha! It was me!" laughed Chuck.

Sonic just blinks. Chuck flexes his muscles.

"You're gonna need some help, Sonic. I'll go with you!"

"Grandpa, are you serious?"

"Of course, I'm serious. You come along, too. You're always saying that you don't want to be a bore like your dad, right?"

"Agh, that's supposed to be a secret. Don't tell Dad I said that." Chris sighed.

"Alright, let's get going!"

Y/N smiled to have some people her and her brother could trust. But she's still gotta be on a lookout, just in case.

At the open desert, Chuck is driving Chris and Sonic to Area 99. Chris is sitting in the passenger seat, while Sonic and Y/N are in the back seat.

"It's gonna take forever to get there. I'd rather go by myself."

"Sonic, patience." scolded Y/N.

"Yeah, chill out." Chris said and holds up the devices. "Is it time?"

"It's time." Chuck affirmed.

Chris then hands the devices to Sonic and Y/N.

"Put these on."

"What is this?" Y/N asked, looking at the device.

"An infrared scope. I'm certain that Area 99 is full of infrared motion detectors that set of security alarms. If you wear that, you may be able to avoid them."

Both the hedgehog siblings puts on the infrared scope and gave them thumbs up. Y/N took out her rocket powered roller skates and puts them on and turned on the rocket as they fired up. They unbuckled their seatbelts and gave each other a smirk before they leapt out of the car, and raced aheafd of the car until they are out of sight.

"See you later, guys!" Sonic yelled.

Sonic and Y/N are running and skating towards Area 99 as fast as they can. Chris' voice comes over their headset.

"Sonic, Y/N, can you hear me?" Chris said over the radio.

"Yeah." Sonic replied.

"Loud and clear." Y/N nodded.

"Remember, when you get to the main building, go in through an air vent. That should be a blind spot for security."

"Got it!"

"But Grandpa, after they get inside, how will they find where their friends are?"

"Give me that. Listen to me, guys. Once you get inside, you won't have much time so think quickly and act quickly."  Chuck said through the radio.

"Grandpa, what if they don't?"

"Thanks for the tip. We're goin' in!" Sonic thanked them and continued running.

"We'll come back safe and sound, Chris. Let us handle it. We have done a lot of crazy things you don't know." she said and hung up and continued skating.

They then arrived at Area 99 and leapt over the gates. The security camera folllowed them. 

"Intruder Alert. Sector D. Intruder Alert. Sector D."  Computer Mainframe said.

The cameras tried to detect Sonic and Y/N, but they are too fast for them. They found the air vent and leapt down the chute. Y/N turned off her rocket as they went inside the vent. The camera turns to the vent, but they are already inside before they could see. They slid down until they land at the bottom.

"Oh... It feels like I have skid marks on my butt!" he said.

"Tell me about it." Y/N hissed, rubbing her butt.

They started to crawl through the vent when Sonic stopped her. He looks ahead and there are lasers everywhere, undetectable without the infrared lens. Y/N looked and was glad to have that device.

"How's it looking there guys?" Chris asked.

"Just great." Sonic replied.

Y/N tapped him on the shoulder and he looked at her and she pointed down as they could see it lead into the halls right in front of the first group of lasers.

"This'll be a piece of cake!" he smirked and turned to you. "Follow me."

Y/N nodded and he removed the grille, waits until the camera is facing away from him, and both them leapt down onto the floor. They dashed down the hall, remaining out of sight of the cameras.

"We're too fast for them!"

They turned to the next hallway which also has swiveling cameras and they easily avoid them all until they arrived in front of the door to the laboratory with a sign that said "STAFF ONLY."

"I bet that's where Cream and Cheese are. But how do we sneak in without getting caught?"

Y/N turned to Sonic who was thinking the same thing and doesn't want to get too reckless like last time. Suddenly, the lights go out.

"Abnormality detected in the electrical system... Abnormality detected in the electrical system."  Computer Mainframe said.

The siblings looked at each other and nodded and snuck into the room.

"Ah, great."

"Now we can't see anything!"

They then heard the sound of glass shattering.

"What the-?!"

"Hey, where'd they go?"

The glass that surrounded Cream and Cheese is broken, and they are gone. Sonic, Y/N, Cream, and Cheese are hiding behind the machines.

"Sonic, Y/N-"

The siblings shushed her because the officers might hear them. Cheese cried excitedly and hugs Sonic, making him laugh. Y/N quickly quiet Cheese down by placing her finger on his lips.

"Over there!"

"Let's go." Sonic said.

"Right." nodded Cream.

Sonic hands Cheese to Cream and Y/N grabbed Cream's hand and they all took off. They ran down the hall as fast as they can.

"Wow, you guys! How did you shut off all the electricity?"

"I don't think we did it." Y/N said.

"Yeah. It just happened." Sonic added.

"Maybe it just happened because you guys bring good luck everywhere you go." Cream guessed.

"You might be right!" Sonic said.

Just then, the power comes back on, and the cameras swivel in their direction.

"I shouldn't have said anything. It must be a jinx. I'm sorry."

"This isn't your fault, Cream." Y/N assured her.

The tops of the cameras open, revealing laser blasters. Y/N held Cream's hand, telling her to hang on as she turned on her rocket from her roller skates and they all dashed down the hall, narrowly avoiding lasers. Chris called them if everything is alright after hearing the alarm from outside.

"Not exactly." Sonic replied and turned to them. "Run!"

Y/N nodded and skated down the hallway with Cream and Cheese. Sonic lept into the air and destroyed one camera, then grabbed another and used it to fire at all the other cameras in the hall. One camera falls in front of Y/N, but she skated the other way and kept on skating and decided to carry Cream as she did and took off to go faster as Cheese followed.

"D2 area lock down in progress." Computer Mainframe said.

The doors begin closing and one of them is closing right in front of them.

"The door! We can't make it out!" Cream gasped, holding onto Y/N tight.

Sonic leapt down and grabbed his sisters hand and they raced under the door. It finished closing seconds later. They then find that there are more cameras facing them. Suddenly, a fleet of makeshift paper airplanes fly down the hall in their direction.

"What are they?" Cream asked.

The paper airplanes flew down the hall and destroyed all the security cameras.

"I don't understand. What's going on?" she asked again.

"We can't stick around to find out!" Sonic said.

"We don't have time to waste!" Y/N said and they raced under another closing door.

They ran up the stairs and sure enough, the cameras are wildly and randomly firing and shoot holes in the walls.

"Sonic, Y/N, are we going to make it out?" Cream worriedly asked.

"Don't worry!" Sonic said.

"We'll make it!" Y/N finished his sentence with a assured smile.

Suddenly, one rogue laser hits the staircase between them and Y/N luckily grabbed Cream's hand tight to prevent her from falling and pulled her up and carried her as the lasers destroy parts of the stairwell. Sonic grabbed the both of them and carried them on the way and they jump over broken parts of the stairs as they escape. Sonic scales several stories before finally setting Cream and Y/N down near the top.

"See, Cream? I told you we'd make it, and we did. You didn't doubt me, did you?"

"Mm-mm. Thank you for saving us." Cream shook her head.

"Ah, any time, Cream, any time." Sonic smiled.

Y/N patted Cream's head with a smile, making her smile back. Just then, they heard a noise outside.

"Huh? Hey, what's that?" he wondered.

He and Y/N removed their headsets and put their ears to the wall.

"Sounds like a plane... The Tornado!" Sonic smirked.

"Tails.." Y/N smirked and cradled Cream in her arms.

The siblings burst through the roof and head towards the plane that is waiting for them where they can see the familiar fluffy tails in it.

"All right, Sonic, Y/N!!" Tails exclaimed with a smile.

He banked to starboard, allowing them to land on the wing.

"Hey!" Sonic said.

"Hey, Tails! It's good to see you!" Y/N smiled.

"Ha-ha!" Tails waved at them.

"It was you. You're the one who helped us get out of there." Cream said.

"I helped, but Sonic and Y/N are the real heroes!" he winked and steered the Tornado straight home.

They made it back to the garage as they started the introduction.

"I'm Chris. Sonic landed in our swimming pool last night, and I dove in and saved him."

"My name's Tails, and I'm Sonic's and Y/N's very best buddy! Heh, right, guys?" Tails said, looking at them.

"Correct/Of course, little bud." Sonic and Y/N nodded, smiling.

"My name is Cream, and this is my very special Chao friend Cheese." Cream and Cheese bowed. "Thanks for helping us."

"It's very nice to meet all of you. I have a feeling we're all gonna become really good friends." Chris smiled.

Chris then introduces Chuck, who is studying one of Tails' paper airplanes.

"Oh, and this is my grandfather."

"Extraordinary! Tiny radio-controlled airplanes. Extraordinary!" Chuck gasped.

"We've got lots of neat gadgets!" Tails said.

Chris turned to Sonic.

"Listen, Sonic! This isn't some game we're playing, you know! You could've gotten us all thrown in jail!" he scolded.

"Maybe I could've, but I didn't, did I?"

"Couldn't you have tried to be more careful?"

Sonic just shrugs and Y/N shook her head, sighing.

"This is an amazing piece of equipment. It goes beyond anything I've ever seen. How did you develop it?" Chuck asked in wonder.

"It's nothing special -- not in the world we come from." Tails replied.

"And where exactly is that world, Tails?"

"Beats me... But I think we got here through a warp in time and space."

"Hmm... Very interesting. Not very helpful, but interesting." Chuck said.

Chris is still mad at Sonic and Y/N was giving her brother a look that he rather not see as he just ignore them and picked his ear.

"I just thought of something. If you two and me and Cream and Cheese are here, maybe the others got here too." Tails guessed.

"You might be right about that, Tails. If you are, then it means... maybe..." Sonic nodded.

There is a flashback of Dr. Eggman holding the red Chaos Emerald and laughing.

"EGGMAN'S HERE TOO!" Sonic, Y/N, Tails, and Cream exclaimed.
