Haruue starts to tear up a bit as Uiharu reassures her.

Uiharu: It's all right! I'm sure you'll find your friend. Heck, I'll even help you find her. Because I'm a Judgement member.

Saten : That's right. She may not look like it, but Uiharu is a skilled Judgement member.

Uiharu: That "She may not look like it" wasn't necessary.

Telestina: An experiment to understand the principles of out-of-control abilities by intentional overload? I never thought of that possibility.

Misaka: If I recall correctly, the project was directed by some old guy called Kihara.

Telestina: Kihara? You mean Kihara Gensei?

Sonic: Oh yeah, that old man.

Kuroko: Who might that be?

Telestina: He's a scientist. He's quite popular in some fields. He's what you'd call a "mad scientist".

Sonic: (Heh, sounds like Eggman...)

Telestina: For that man, even experimenting on humans isn't out of the question.

Sonic: (Humans...?)

Telestina: But as far as I know he's been missing. If that experiment did happen, then it's safe to assume that the cause of the Poltergeist are the children who were experimented on.

Kuroko: What does it all mean?

Telestina: It means those kids have gone out of control.

Misaka: But, those kids should still be in a deep sleep.

Telestina: What if I told you they went out of control while they were unconscious?

Sonic: I don't understand... how could that be possible?

Kuroko: Could it be that they did it unknowingly, subsequently activating a Poltergeist?

Kuroko sneaks in acting cool to get in the bath with Misaka, but Misaka quickly throws a bucket at Kuroko as she trips over the floor.

Sonic was laying by the wall still thinking.

Sonic: Hmm...

Next day in the hospital:
Uiharu: Here! I brought you a gift! I got them from a famous shop in the district.

Haruue: You went that far?

Uiharu: You'll understand when you taste them! These are the best taiyaki in Academy City!

Haruue grabs one.

Haruue: It's still warm.

Uiharu: Actually, that's my power. As you noticed, I can sustain the temperature of whatever I touch. It's hard for me to hold hot things, so keeping it warm is the best I can do. I still haven't told this to Misaka-san or the others. This is my gift to you for telling me what your ability is, Haruue-san

Haruue takes a bite of the taiyaki.

Haruue: It's delicious!

Uiharu: It sure is delicious.

While in the city, Sonic and Misaka were walking to the office as Misaka wanted to ask Sonic something.

Misaka: Hey, Sonic. Is something wrong?

Sonic: Hmm? Waddya talking about?

Misaka: You've been having these concern looks on your face ever since these poltergeist incidents.

Sonic: Oh, that. Well... I still don't understand scientific stuff like you guys do in terms of your world. But some stuff just doesn't add up...

Misaka: Nothing does, not but until we find where the kids are...

Sonic: Yeah, I'm sure we will soon enough, but something about the Telestina woman just bothers me...

Misaka: Telestina-san?

Sonic: Yeah... can't quite put my finger on it...

Misaka: I'm sure she's also trying to save those kids also, so I wouldn't see anything suspicious about her.

Saten there then leaves the office as she walks down seeing Sonic and Misaka.

Misaka: Huh? Where are you going?

Saten: No, nowhere in particular.

Misaka: Hey, you want a drink?

Few minutes later:
Misaka and Saten were having a drink while Sonic was eating chilly dogs.

Saten: It was kind of a tough atmosphere to jump in on...

Misaka: Yeah... It's a bit awkward, isn't it?

Sonic: *Nom...* Tell me about it.

Saten: C'mon, Sonic. Don't talk with your mouth full.

Misaka: We have to find Edosaki-san. Whether it be for Haruue-san's or Uiharu-san's, or even our sake.

Saten: You're right.

Sonic nods in response as Misaka gets a call.

Misaka: Who could it be? Hello, this is Misaka.

Meanwhile:
Sonic: What?!

Misaka: Kiyama Harumi was bailed out?!

Telestina: Yes. I went to the prison to discuss the incident with her, however...

Misaka: She was released on bail even though she did all that?

Telestina: I don't know the details, but it seems like it.

Misaka: No way...

Telestina: I guess our only lead on the kids is gone.

Saten: Eh? But, if I recall correctly, Kiyama did all that to save the kids, right?

Sonic: Yeah. For her to abandon them after all that is a little far fetch...

Misaka looks closely at a picture of a lab.

Kuroko: Is there something wrong?

Misaka: No, it's nothing.

Sonic: (Hmm...)

In the night:
Kuroko: Onee-sama, not so rough!

Misaka: I don't know what kind of dream she's having, or where to even start to comment...

Misaka looks back to Sonic who was resting.

Misaka: Sorry...

Misaka was outside wearing her disguise wearing a Gekota mask she got from the festival.

Misaka: All right. Now my disguise is perfect!

Sonic: Eh... wouldn't say it was that perfect.

Misaka quickly turns around ready to strike, but Sonic was there behind her.

Misaka: S-Sonic? What are you-

Sonic: C'mon, you think I didn't know what you were doing? Plus, I couldn't sleep with Kuroko making all that noise.

Misaka sighs, knowing Sonic wouldn't let her go by herself.

Misaka: Alright, c'mon.

Sonic: Yes...!

Sonic and Misaka enters in the lab and search around for any clues. Misaka puts her mask to the side.

Misaka: I guess this is useless if the lights are out anyway.

The two see tons of tubes in one of the rooms where the kids were all being experimented in.

Misaka: No doubt about it. This is the place. See anything, Sonic?

Sonic: Don't see anything here, but I do see someone up there.

Sonic points up as Misaka follows his direction.

Kiyama: *On call* Nothing's left. Yes, I'm heading back.

Misaka: It's her!

Seconds later, both Sonic and Misaka enter in.

Kiyama: It's you two, huh?

Misaka: So it is you, Kiyama Harumi.

Kiyama: Do you have something—

Misaka: Are you the one behind this one too?

Kiyama: What if I am?

Misaka starts to charge up electricity around her.

Sonic: Misaka wait! You'll-

Misaka: There's no way I'd forgive you!

The electricity gets the whole lab back up with lights as the alarm goes off.

Misaka: W-What's going on here?

Kiyama: No choice now.

Meanwhile in Kiyama's vehicle.
Kiyama: You sure know how to revive a dead security system with your electricity.

Misaka : I didn't mean to...

Sonic: Eh, that's basically our thing. Anyway, what were you doing there?

Misaka: What's the deal with your bail?

Sonic: And what exactly are you up to?

Kiyama: Does every person who rides in my car have to ask questions with such a scary face? But save your questions for later.

Misaka looks at her mask and looks back at Gekota seeing that they're the same.

Misaka: You're the one from back then!

Sonic: Long time no see.

Gekota: It's been a long time.

Misaka: What's going on here?

Gekota: Kihara Gensei. He's the one who started it all.

Kihara: Let me ask you: What is our ultimate goal?

After the meeting, Kihara was walking back as Gekota was standing by the wall.

Gekota: Do you really think you can create a Level 6 using that thing?

Kihara: Of course.

Gekota: Really?

Gekota: Won't the user experience heavy side effects, such as loss of consciousness, due to this crazy experiment?

Kihara: My experiment has already yielded definite results.

Gekota: How many did you sacrifice to achieve this?

Kihara: Sacrifice? There weren't any sacrifices in my experiments.

Kihara: That's just nonsense.

Gekota: I don't know how he viewed his subjects, but they were just sacrifices. After becoming involved in the previous incident, and looking into the details, I became certain of it. The Child Errors that Kiyama tried to save, were the specimens used to create the Ability Crystal.

Kiyama: What I told you back then, that it was "an experiment for understanding the principles of out-of-control abilities by intentionally causing it" was all just a cover. What you saw back then was really a test run for the use of the Ability Crystal.

Misaka: No way... All to reach Level 6, which no one is even sure is possible?

Sonic: And because of a crazy experiment like that, these kids turned out like this?

Gekota: All I can do as a doctor is sustain these children's lives. Fortunately, I didn't take that long to gather them all up. I'm quite well known in this city. All that was left after that was to get an expert's opinion on how to wake them up.

Sonic: So that's why you bailed her out.

Kiyama: I had him bail me out. I am forever grateful towards the doctor. By using this facility's equipment, I've found a way to revive these children.

Misaka: Then, you can save them?

Gekota: Well, there's one other problem.

Kiyama: Everytime they get close to waking up, their AIM diffusion fields display abnormal behavior.

Misaka: Then...

Kiyama : It's their abilities going out of control. It starts a simultaneous occurrence of RSPK cases.

Misaka: Why?

Gekota: His research is still ongoing. The Ability Crystal that I know of won't create something like a Poltergeist. However, as for those that have been modified...

Kiyama: They kept these kids in a coma, and turned them into out-of-control ability users.

Misaka: Then, in order to wake these kids up...

Kiyama: Yes... It would cause a Poltergeist.

Sonic: Well, there has to be some other way to cause this from happening.

Kiyama : I'm developing a vaccine software to control their out-of-control abilities, however... The root of the Ability Crystal, what's called First Sample, is comprised of what was gathered from the very first human experimentation. In order to finish the vaccine software, we need to be able to analyze that data.

Misaka: So you went to the lab to...

Kiyama: I was looking for that data, but there was nothing left. But there's no way I'll give up. That data is invaluable to the research of the Ability Crystal. Data like that would never be thrown away. It has to be somewhere. I'll do whatever it takes to find it!

Misaka: And if you don't?

Kiyama: Then I'll wake these children up anyway.

Sonic: Wait what?!

Misaka: You'll do it knowing that it will cause a Poltergeist?

Kiyama: I can't just leave these kids like this any longer!

Misaka: Even so! You can't—

Telestina: Yes, I won't let you do that.

Sonic: Hmm?

Misaka: Telestina-san!

Telestina: Sorry. I followed you all the way here.

Kiyama : What's going on...

Telestina: We are Multi-Active Rescue. We will be placing these children under our care. Please follow our directions.

Kiyama: Is that an order?

Telestina: Yes. As emergency rescuers, we'll do whatever it takes to prevent further harm to Academy City. Though I've prepared the proper legal documents,
I ask that you hand over the kids peacefully.

Gekota: Looks like the real thing.

Telestina: Please relax. We specialize in saving lives.

We have the facilities to treat and guard ability users.

Kiyama: But—

Telestina: We have the means to obtain data you wouldn't be able to get too. I'm sure that includes that First Sample thing you said. It's very likely we can obtain that. Retrieve them.

Kiyama: Wait!

Kiyama runs up, but Sonic and Misaka both stop Kiyama.

Sonic: Kiyama, you have to stop this!

Kiyama: Get out of the way! I'm the only one who can save them!

Misaka: But you're not! You used the Level Upper, and you caused Poltergeist! Yet, you couldn't save even one.

Kiyama: Just a litte more, a little more, and I...

Misaka: Edosaki-san is pleading for help right now. Haruue-san, my friend, she can hear her voice.

Kiyama was shocked hearing those words, looking back at the children.

Sonic: (This is the only way to save them...)

Telestina: Retrieve the kids.

Few minutes later:
All the kids in the facility was gone from the lab as Kiyama was down on her knees with Gekota watching them take them.
