Third Person's POV

"While our children fought for our cause, others lived in comfort" Aleena narrated "But they would quickly discover that no one was safe from Robotnik's evil grasp" Markus narrated.

"Rosebud tea. One of the many pleasures of being a wealthy aristocrat" Bartleby said drinking tea when the doorbell rings "Who on Mobius could it be at this hour? Oh drat I'll have to get it myself" he said and the doorbell rings again "Patience, patience!" He said and gasps as Swatbot breaks the door down "Good grief!" Bartleby said "Sir Bartleby MontClair. You are charged with being a traitor, a rebel ad an enemy of Robotnik" the swatbot said "Well that's outrageous! That's-" Bartleby said "That's up to the jury. Come with me" the swatbot said dragging Bartleby away.

*Meanwhile with the heroes*

"According to my calculations and Trevors intelligence reports, this is it!" Sonia said "Yeah, this is Robotnik's ruby mine and I'm a swatbot's granny" Manic said "As I have tried over and over to explain, not everything is what it appears to be. It should be right about... er... huh? Here!" Sonia said as a drill rises from the ground and Manic gasps "Is she good or what?" Brody asks "Now then. As I was saying, the rubies of this particular mine are purer than any ever seen before, which makes them even more valuable to Robotnik because they're incredibly powerful when used for weaponry!" Sonia said "Good enough? Let's do it to it" Sonic said "Gotcha covered!" Manic said and the four got into the hole.

"Okay, listen up. We've gotta map out the mine...." Sonia said as Sonic and Brody zoom around the cave "to establish its perimeters... inventory its mining equipment, analyze the strenght of its defense, and check the quantity and size of the rubies" Sonia said and Brody and Sonic get back taking off the helmet giving it to Sonia "All done!" Brody said "What's for dinner?" Sonic asks and Sonia puts on the helmet and watch the footage they recorded and gasps "I've never seen gems like these. They're enormous! It... it's even worse than we thought. These are ultra-high-grade rubies!" Sonia said "the kind you used to wear" Manic said "Quel drôle. No, the kind used for high-powered lasers" Sonia said "Robuttnik's had lasers before. What's the big deal?" Manic asks.

*Later at the base*

"Whoa! It burned through solid titanium? That is a powerful laser!" Manic said as Cyrus made a demonstration "With those, Robotnik could wipe out the entire resistance!" Sonic said "Not if we can helpt it" Brody said "Brody and I have a little toy here that might do the trick" Cyrus said pulling a sheet off a mining vehicle "Look at this!" Brody said "Got anything in blue to match my skin?" Sonic asks "Cool! How about a test drive?" Manic asks as he, Sonia, Brody and Sonic get inside "There are a few things you should know before you-" Cyrus said "Hey Cyrus, it's kinda cramped here" Sonic said "It's supposed to be a two-passanger vehicle. Whatever you do, don't touch any-" Cyrus said when Sonic pressed a button sending out a flame "Hey, be careful! Brody keep him away the buttons!" Cyrus said "Okay Sonic away from the buttons" Brody said pulling close a pouting Sonic andCyrus explained them how to use the vehicule.

*Meanwhile at a courtroom*

Two swatbots drag Bartleby inside and sit him on a chair "All rise. Court is now in session. The Honorable Judge Robotnik presiding" Sleet said "Bartleby you're accused of seditious crimes against my empire. How do you plead?" Robotnik asks dressed as a judge "This is outrageous! I'm a nobleman, a supporter of your... your wmpire!" Bartleby said "How do you plead?!" Robotnik asks "Don't I even get an attorney?" Bartleby asks and Sleet puts Dingo as the attorney "Your attorney. Now then, how do you plead?" Robotnik asks and Bartleby sighs.

*Back with the heroes*

"According to my calculation, we entered the mine in the northeast quadrant. Our mission is threefold. First we secure a giant ruby, knocking out as many of the underground mine ships on the way as we can. Then, we use the ruby to amplify my laser power to knock out the rest of the ships! Finally, we destroy the ruby mine, sealing it off from Robotnik forever!" Sonia said "How you coming with that chili bro?" Sonic asks "Needs a touch more heat" Manic said when fire erupts from the back of the vehicle "Yeah, that should do it" Manic said "Oops! So sorry" Trevor said "That's okay, Trevor" Manic said "Ph my gosh! It's Bartleby!" Sonia said and they all watch from a small monitor.

"We now join the trial in progress for prosecuting attorney Sleet's opening statement" a commentator said "Illustrious jury. You see before you... a man accused of treason. A man accused of helping the resistance in their evil plot to depose our great leader" Sleet said "This is awful. They're punishing Bartleby because of me!" Sonia said "Get on with it, you fool!" Robotnik said "Oh, yes sir. So anyway, when, erm, if we find him guilty, you know what to do. He says he's innocent. But if he lies, you must roboticize!" Sleet said.

"My client is innocent. Even though he looks like a guilty traitor to me" Dingo said "With a defense like Dingo, who needs a prosecutor?" Brody asks, unaware to the boys Sonia left the cave.

*Later at Bartleby's dungeon*

"What is to become of me?" Bartleby asked himself "You have a visitor" the computer said as Sonia entered covered in a cloak walked in "A visitor? Who?" Bartleby asks "It's your Aunt Sophie" Sonia said walking to him "But I don't have-" Bartleby said "Bartleby!" Sonia said "Sonia! What are you doing here? Robotnik's guards-" Bartleby said "Nevermind them. We have to get you out of here!" Sonia said "No. Go quickly. I can't let you be captured because of me!" Bartleby said "And I can't see you condemned for something you didn't do. Even if it was something you should have been doing!" Sonia said "Sonia, can you honesty say you're happier in the resistance?" Bartleby asks "I'm happy that I'm making my life count for something! But I'm here to help you" Sonia said "You can't. I'm innocent. But they'll roboticize me all the same" Bartleby said unaware that Robotnik was watching this through his cameras "Of course you're innocent, you rich fool! But now you and your darling Sonia are being useful for a change... as bait for my trap" Robotnik said It's only a matter of time before Sonia returns to save her dear Bartleby. And, of course, her brothers and friend won't be far behind" he said laughing.

*Back with the heroes*

"Laser drill?" Brody asks "Check!" Trevor said "Defense shield protectors?" Brody asks "Check!" Trevor said and they see Sonic and Manic arrive "Sonia?" Brody asks "Sorry, love, that's a negative. I bet she went to help that lamer Bartleby" Sonic said "Maybe we oughta cancel-" Manic said "No you don't!" Sonia said arriving "Sonia! Where ya been?!" Sonic asks "Sorry guys. There was something I had to do" Sonia said "It's time" Trevor said "Gotcha Trev" Brody said and Sonic looks at Sonia "But you've got some explaining to do later. Now, let's do it to it" Sonic said.

*Meanwhile*

"I do hope you do  better job in court today" Bartleby said "Ah, no worries. You're getting off anyway" Dingo said "I beg your pardon? But I'm on trial!" Bartleby said "Duh! Yeah! Well, if you don't know, this is all a trap for Sonia and her brothers and friend" Dingo said "Huh?! So that's it. Sonia!" Bartleby said "That's it! I know how to save Sonia...." he said.

*Back with the Heroes*

"Okay. I've got it. Quick, Manic! Hang a left!" Sonia said "I think we've got a trouble" Trevor said and Sonia gasps "Three enemy ships, starboard stern!" Sonia said "Hey, no prob, just put the pedal to the metal" Brody said when they hear a noise "Sonic? What's that noise? Are you watching TV?!" Sonia asks "Hey, I'm just trying to find out how lover boy is doing. Oh boy... er, maybe youd better take a peek here, sis" Sonic said "Sonic, this isn't exactly a good time" Sonia said "This'll only take a Sonic second" Sonic said and Sonia looks "Bartleby!" She said "And so, your honor, I am changing my plea to guilty" Bartleby said "Huh?" Robotnik asks and Sonia turns off the tv "Okay, guys, we've gotta finish up fast! Hang a U!" Sonia said "You got it!" Manic said "Hit 'em with everything we've got. Now!" Sonia said  as they gather all the rubies and Sonia destroys them with her instrument and they all flee the cave as it crumbles down being blocked off and Sonia takes off with the vehicle "Sis?" Sonic asks "I bet she's going to rescue Bartleby" Manic said "Aw, man! She's walking right into a trap!" Brody said "Time to haul some serious haunch" Sonic said grabbig Manic's arm as he and Brody speeds away.

*At the courtroom*

"Let the condemned prisoner approach the bench. Are you ready for sentencing?" Robotnik asks "As ready as I'll ever be" Bartleby said "For crimes of treason against the government, namely me, this court sentences you to-" Robotnik said when Sonic, Manic and Brody burst in "Don't worry, Sonia! Were here to... wait for you to get here?" Sonic asks "Oh, great! Now we have to rescue Bartleby!" Brody said "Wolf and Hedgehogs! Seize them!" Robotnik said "Well, well. If it isn't the Prince of Dorkness" Sonic said "Get tjem!" Sleet said and the thre boys take out some swatbots when Sonia came in with a ruby "Haven't you guys ever heard the expression ladies first?" Sonia asks summoning her keyboard "Well, better late than never!" She said putting rhe ruby in her keyboard "Finish them!" Robotnik said as the boys summon their instruments and the four play a song to take out the swatbots.

*After the song*

"Let's split!" Sonia said shooting a hole in a wall "We are gone but no forgotten" Brody and Sonic said as the five escape.

*Later*

"Citizens! New evidence has come to light proving that prisoner Bartleby is innocent of all charges. I am sure that there are no hard feelings over this unfortunate misunderstanding, and that Bartleby will continue his generous support of my... er... the regime" Robotnik announced on a screen. "I'm not very good at being noble, Sonia. Well, actually I am because, well, I'm nobility, but.... it doesn't take much to see that the problems of two little people don't amount to a hill of chili dogs compared to protecting this planet" Bartleby said "Yeah, well, the hovercraft's waiting. But we'll always have Mobius too. Here's looking at you, kid" Sonia said smiling and Bartleby smiles back getting in the hovercraft and takes off. Sonic, Brody and Manic walk up to her after "Hey sis, er, are you sorry you don't live in that world anymore?" Manic asks "Manic, I'm right where I wanna be" Sonia said smiling "You're a real Freedom Fighter, Sonia" Brody said "One of the best!" Sonic said "Sonic, Brody, Manic, I think this is the continuation of a beautiful friendship" Sonia said as the four walk away holding hands as this chapter comes to an end.
