Okay! I have come back to the story! But before I start writing I just wanted to mention that I will continue this story but in between COVID, online school, my personal interests, and inspiration, updates will be slow. I've kind of lost interest in this story, but it's stuck in my brain and I need to write it down, so no one is forcing me to write this! Anyway, let's continue the story!

Tails' POV

"Woah..." I breathed, wide-eyed as Sonic lay there, entangled in a bedsheet, panting as if he had just run to the moon and back. Right after the transformation, Sonic looked up at me, a sort of pleading look in his eyes before passing out almost immediately. I made to approach his, but my feet wouldn't listen, held in place partly by fear, shock, and awe at what just happened.

Eventually, I was able to compose myself enough to slowly approach Sonic's still body. I knelt down next to his hairy mass and put a shaky hand on the Blue Blur's back. I was expecting him to growl, but instead, he shifted and painfully rolled over. He faced me and I could see the pleading look on his face illuminated by the moon streaming through the window.

"Grah... rer... thar hallk? Huh? Rauf?" Sonic growled and barked, then pointed to his through in confusion.

"C-can you not talk, S-sonic?" I hesitantly asked. Sonic managed a nod. "O-okay... I-i'll be right back!" I said, running to grab my Miles-Electric. 

Shortly after, I returned with my hand-held, turned it on and asked Sonic to start talking.

"Raowf... awe HARR!!" Sonic yelled, whimpering. I furrowed my brows in concentration as I read the binary code dancing across the screen.

"You want me to help you because it heats?" I asked. Sonic sighed and howled again.

"HARR!! Wo asd raowf!" Sonic said in what sounded to be an impatient tone.

"Oh! You want me to help you because it hurts?" Sonic nodded vigorously. "Okay... how often does this happen?"

"Evura thro mooth!" Sonis responded. At least he was trying to form words. I could partially understand him.

"Every full moon?" I asked again. Sonic nodded, cowering in the shadows a bit. "Okay, come with me and I'll help you!"

I turned around and made to move down the stairs when I head something.

"This is the Green Hill Police Force, Open up!" 

I froze then turned to Sonic. "Hide! I'll handle this!" I hissed at Sonic, who conveniently had hidden already. I nervously gulped, slowly made my way downstairs, and placed a shaky hand on the doorknob, twisting it to reveal an armed beaver and some other animals.

"The neighbors just reported that they were all awoken by a howling coming from your house. All eyewitnesses-or earwitnesses- confirmed that the howl sounded like someone was in pain. We were called to investigate!"

I stared up at the beaver-his uniform read 'Agent Edward J.'-and gulped again, trying to look as innocent as possible.

"I-i'm sorry! M-my daddy dropped a-a glass mug and w-was trying to c-clean it up when i-it cut him. H-he has big l-lungs and I g-gues he o-over r-reacted." I said, purposefully stuttering to project the image of me being a scared little fox.

"Well, may we see him?" Edward asked, sympathy reflecting in his stormy grey eyes.

"N-no, sorry. H-he's still in the b-bathroom and won't b-be out in a while. T-the cut looked p-pretty deep!" I responded, stuttering a little less. "A-and he told m-me that after he c-cleaned his ouchie, h-he was gonna go to b-bed!"

"Alright, what's your name?"

"I'm Miles Prower but you can call me Tails!" I blurted out. I've learned from experience that when kids get asked something that they know by heart, they speak bold and confidant.

Edward smiled. "So Tails, how old are you?"

"I-i'm 8. And a half!" I said, beaming and holding up 9 fingers. My 9th finger was partially bent over to represent 1/2. 

"Alright. Well, if you'll excuse us, we're going to go now. Tell your daddy that we hope he'll get better soon!" Edward said, leaving. He closed the door behind him, but I knew he wouldn't let me go that easily so I pressed my ear against the door and listened.
