You were new to the resistance.
Very skilled in many arts, Swordmans ship and mechanics.
Well, we all know you aren't perfect, but you liked to try new things.
It was just out of nowhere you came to the resistance after being saved by a solider or somebody from the resistance in an attack from Eggman that made you go blind.
It was a robot, maybe that hit you in a place of your head that made the lights go out when you tried to defend yourself.
You remember a voice asking questions to see if you're alright, but you were unconscious at the time.

Hospitalized for up to two weeks you never regained your eye sight, Which did discourage you.
It had been your dream to be a hero or fight in the resistance, but it was all just cut short because of you not being able to even defend yourself.

But. There was this voice that you recalled. You didn't remember if it was dream or it actually happened.
The voice gave you the courage to try and fight the darkness. Fight death.
'Don't give up!'
And you didn't. You didn't give up.
You woke up two days later in darkness and that's when you were confronted by a toll.
Cheating death isn't cheap. It costs somethings you cherish and take advantage of.

To present day you had trained yourself to navigate through all of your senses you still had.
Teaching yourself to defend yourself without eye sight. Of course it wasn't easy and you didn't know anybody who could help you, so it was you on your own.

Now you were apart of the resistance.
Nobody at first knew you were blind.
You trained with team mates as if you weren't blind.
Swiftly defeating foes and destroying robots with your (fave/weapon).
Nobody stood in your way.

This kind of skill brought the attention of higher people in the resistance, even the Commander, Knuckles.
"Whoa, I've never seen such skill from a Rookie before! What's your name, kid?"
You heard a sudden change in a voice and realized it was another person approaching you, it was a deep, male voice. Yet it was a soft tone. You also blushed at the complement and knew that you were drawing attention to yourself.
"(Y/n), Sir."
"Well, (Y/n). I think you'll be a great fighter of the resistance, How about a mission to prove that you can do more than just defeat small robots and fight with the big dogs?" "really? Wow, I've never really fought along side with any heroes! Do you really mean it, Commander?"

"Of course i do, Rookie. Now your mission starts tomorrow at dawn, that's when the enemy, Egghead is least likely to be ready for any type of attack, so i want you to be at the base an hour just before dawn. Got it Rookie?"
"Got it, commander! I will not let you down!"
"I know you won't, (y/n)."

And with that, you went home and prepped for the early morning mission.
Feeling around for your comb, you wanted to comb out your (h/L) (h/c) hair before bed.
You thought about how tomorrow was going to be.
You weren't really sharp. And only knew familiar places that were engraved in your brain map.
That's what worried you, but you knew everything would end up fine...

Right?

You woke up around 4:30 and poured a bowl of cereal and ate it all in one sitting with a soup ladle, since you couldn't find any of your regular spoons.
When you finished you made sure that your weapon was on hand and you dashed thought the door, only to bump your head on the door frame and then correct your positioning out of the door.
You hurried to the base, where you were surprisingly, not really though the last one to arrive.
"There's the rookie." Commander Knuckles exclaimed and walked out of the small crowd of members.
"Everyone, this is (y/n). They are here to take good notes and help out on the mission this morning."
You blush in the attention gazes you must have felt as fellow resistance members looked at your presence.
"Well, welcome to the resistance, (y/n)! I'm Amy!" You heard a females voice and turned your head to the voice.
"Very nice to meet you, Amy." You said, pulling out your hand to greet her.
"And I'm Tails! It's good to have a new face on the team." It was a younger sounding voice and was no doubt a male's. You smile and reach out to shake his hand as well.
"And I'm Sonic, Sonic The hedgehog."
It was a bit older voice, but it was also so...so.. Familiar. Sonic? Was that- could it be? Could this person be the same person that saved you a time before? But you couldn't be sure. And you didn't want to ask in risk of people finding out you being blind and even bigger risk of getting kicked out!
So you just kept your mouth shut.

Before heading out of the mission you were stopped by Tails which startled you by the sudden physical touch, but he didn't notice.
"I almost forgot, you're going to need this." The yellow fox handed you an ear piece and you didn't know what it was until he explained what he just handed you.
"It's an ear piece so that we can track your every move and communicate with you during your mission. Hopefully we won't have to send backup today, but you'll never know." Tails stated.
You put your ear piece on and walked out the door. Sensing the movements of your fellow piers.
"Alright, now we have to act fast on this." Sonic announced as they were running towards the Eggman base in its secretive hidding place deep in the jungle.
"Eggman has a plan cooking up in that base of his and we need to stop it before he could unleash whatever ugly thing he's created to try and take over the world, but first we need Intel to what he's cooking up and stop it. So here's the plan. Amy, i need you to try and go to the back end of the base and make sure no robots can attack. Tails, i need you to disarm the base's defence system as long as you can, but make sure to not to stir any commotion doing so. And Rookie, i need you to go sneak in through the vents, since you're a bit smaller than me and Tails can also guide you through the map of the base without getting caught. And I'll take the front end of the base to make sure no bots can attack. Ready gang?"
All of them shouted "ready" and got into their positions.
You're in trouble now...
"Okay, (y/n). Start by climbing through the vent in front of you. It's a bit of a tight squeeze, but I'm sure you can fit just fine." Tails announced through your communicator.
You felt around the bricks for a sudden change of texture and found where that air duct was.
Pulling it aside, you climbed in and hoped for the best.
"When you enter, (y/n)." Tails started to give you directions, "Crawl sevn feet and you will see two separate paths take the one on the left and there will be a sharp turn to the right, you can't miss it, unless you're blind."
"Hehe...yeah, Blind...won't that be a problem.." You uttered in a nervous tone.
You then estimated the amount of steps or crawl spaces that would equal the amount of feet Tails specified about, then you felt for the left side and accidentally went through the right side and went a sharp left turn.
"(Y/n), i hope that you just realized yiu went through the Right and then left instead of Left to right."
"Yeah, i uh have trouble remembering which is left or right. Haha"
"It could be difficult sometimes, but (y/n) you have to get out of there, I'm getting readings of that specific air duct too weak to hold that much weight-"
Before Tails could finish his sentence, you fell about ten feet from the ceiling and somehow you landed on something soft? A bed maybe?
"What is this?!" You heard a booming male's voice, yelling in surprise.
Oh crap, i think i landed in Dr.Eggman's bedroom.
"(Y/n)! Get out of there!"
"Guards, seize this intruder!"
(I know this doesn't go with the plot really since you are blind and all, but Eggman was wearing his footie pajamas and a nightcap)
You tried to jump out of the bed and readied to fight, but you were easily outnumbered.
"Stop right there, Egghead!" You heard Sonic's voice come from the vents and fall beside you.
"Sonic! What is the meaning of this?!"
"We're here to take you down along with your recent plans of taking over!"
"Sonic, it's Sunday. I don't have any plans today! Do you know how much it will cost to get that fixed?!"Eggman screamed in anger pointing ti the damage from the ceiling.
"Tails, we need to fall back. It was a miscommunication on our part."
"I heard. Retreat everyone."

"Oh, you're not going anywhere! Rotniks ATTACK!"
You were then grabbed by many bots and tried to fight back, and with a few seconds later your instincts kicked in and you battered robots that came your way and obliterated the attacks with your weapon.
Next to you, Sonic spin dashed the robots entering you the room destroying them and for a second he thought he could hear a sudden yelp and noticed a botnik stab (y/n). Turning around it was true. You were on your knees. Caressing you wound unaware of the bots incoming to attack you at your weakest, Sonic came to the rescue and picked you up as fast as he could, but he for the first time saw into your eyes...milky white.

Amy was waiting out there destroying robots left and right. And noticed Sonic come out with you in his arms.
"What happened in there? (Y/n)! Are you okay?" Amy frantically said, "I'm alright," you say.
"Seems to me the Rookie is missing a sense." Sonic said,
"You're blind?"
"Y-yeah." You say embarrassed.
"Well at least you aren't hurt." Amy announced in a relieved tone.
"Come on we need to get back, I'm sure Tails is also worried sick." Sonic said and with that Sonic, again picked you up and carried you away.

Time skip...
Sonic and you were having a private conversation outside from everyone else.
"So, blind huh? You can't see anything?"
"Nope."
"Well you took a lot of guts to do this."

"I'm sorry for not bringing this up into your attention eariler." You pointed out.
"At least you aren't hurt, and i think it was way past cool the way you fought those badniks, when you were still able to."
You blushed at his complement.
"If you don't mind me asking," Sonic cleared his throat. "Were you always blind? Like were you born blind?" You could sense his curiosity and realized he was serious.
"I wasn't always born blind, but it's been a while. It was taken from me when i tried to defend myself, if it weren't the person who saved me from the rubble, i wouldn't be alive. And weirdly it sounds really familiar to yours."
"Really?" Sonic was surprised, "yea maybe. But i can't remember very well."
"Maybe we'll never know,"
"Yeah, maybe."
