It was his special day. Well, his and hers special day. Oh how he wanted to see her. The desperation to reunite with her flowing through his veins. Every thought consumed with the urge to use the last bit of his energy to see her one last time. Even as he was dragged across harsh, cold stone he could only think of her.

From her soft pink quills to those adoring forest green eyes. That classic cherry red dress. With a matching headband. Not to mention boots fitting her colour scheme. He had grown to adore every inch of her. And yet, he had let her down once again.

Most dates he missed. Whether he lost track of time or because he was out trying to prevent Doctor Eggman from taking over Mobius. Their first date was in Green Hill park. He missed that. She forgave him. Oh she was ever so patient with him. He was ever so thankful for that.

And now, two years on from their first date Sonic the hedgehog and Amy Rose were finally having their wedding day. Except...he hadn't shown up. He could only imagine his fiancé's expression right now. The heartbreak. The mental agony. The hurt. The betrayal and letdown.

A frown traced across his lips in self hatred. Though he could not move due to being chained and dragged across savage terrain he did manage a low self-aimed growl. Glancing up at his gloveless hands he focused on the jagged claws and ripped skin. Beginning to loose focus on his surroundings he began reminiscing on how he got here.

It had been that early morning. Sonic was already up and pacing. Nervous beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. Today was the day. Today was the day he would marry Amy Rose. It needn't be said he was overjoyed and excited. Of course he was. But he was also an anxious wreck.

Currently the blue blur was pacing across a soft, sandy beach. Breathing in and out to calm himself. Same routine. For every date they had been on he would do this. Though, he didn't end up attending most. The ones he did always turned out to be wonderful. Amy had proven to no longer be clingy. She was fun and showed to be good company.

Coming to a stop Sonic looked to the vast blue sea beyond and exhaled. Shaking his hands at his sides he spun around to head to where the wedding was located. Though his journey was cut extremely short from something hard and cold coming into contact with his head. The powerful attack had managed to knock him out within moments.

Perhaps it was only minutes later. Or maybe it had been hours, or days even. The fastest thing alive awoke with a groan. His eyes blinked out of sync with one another and he hissed from the bright light of the sun. Bringing his unsteady left hand up to cover the blinding gleam, he ever so slowly sat up to gather his bearings.

Yep, he had definitely been taken somewhere. From the black and charred ground to the demolished white building in the distance he soon knew where he was. The biggest hint being a large man making his way towards him.

"E...Eggman"? Sonic rasped, frowning at his quiet voice.

"Ssssssurprised to ssssssee me"? The doctor sounded rather...robotic.

"Well yeah, didn't I finish you a few months ago"? The blue hedgehog had begun his climb up, staying wary of the human opposite.

Once he was fully standing it was then the hero noticed his long life enemies half organic, halve metallic body. The doctors robot arm dragging behind him as his broken head sparked with electricity. His clothes all torn and burnt, lifeless eyes now filled with hatred glued onto the hedgehog he despised greatly.

"I...I really did a number on you huh"? Sonic gulped and tugged on his tux's collar.

"Yessss, yessss you did. Issss it your sssspecial day hedgehog"?

"Yeah, now if you'll excuse me I better-". The hero was cut off from the mad scientist swinging his monstrous metallic arm towards him.

Knocking the blue blur speedster off his feet. With only a second passing the arm made another attack and drove itself through the bewildered hedgehogs abdomen. Blood bursting out of his mouth from the heavy impact.

"O-or I can stick around...for a b-bit". Sonic croaked as he was lifted off the ground.

"You've meddled in my plansssss for the lasssst time hedgehog. If I'm going you're coming with me".

"And annoy you further in the after life"? The weakening hero mustered a grin.

"Thisssss wasssss your time. Now it'ssssss my turn". Eggman replied with a dangerous smirk.

There's no need to go into further detail of the events that followed. All we need to be knowledgeable of is that Sonic barely made it out alive.

And here he was now. Lowering his lifeless eyes towards his broken shoes, more so the blood that followed. His tux now all bloody, torn and ruined. His cheeks stained with tears. His wrist communicator broken. He had no way to call his friends. To call Amy. To tell her how much he adored her for the last time.

With the slither of energy he had left he looked up to see the dying doctor drag him to who knows where. Though the flicking left optic of Eggman showed his life was also coming to a sudden close.

"H-hey Ivo"?

"What SSSSSSonic"?

"You are one rotten egg". The blue blur chuckled dryly and looked at the bright view ahead.

"You are one annoying hedgehog. Congratulationsssss on the wedding though". Eggman mocked before coming to an unexpected stop.

Sonic didn't need to look to know that the doctors life had concluded. Weakly wincing from being dropped to the burnt ground he stared up at the blinding sun. He watched two birds fly by with a blank expression.

"I-I'm so sorry...". He blinked as quick as he could, though the tears won his final battle.

"Knuckles...I know I t-teased ya but I...I cherished our f-friendship man. Tails...oh Tails...little buddy. My s-sidekick, my best friend...my brother. Stay strong kiddo, I love ya". Shaking his head to focus he slowly turned to his side to see the only flower around for miles.

It just happened to be a red rose.

"Oh Amy...you are ever so patient and forgiving...I-I just wish we had m-more time...I wish I...I'm s-so sorry. I love you, more than anything in the world. More than ch-chilli dogs heh heh...heh...". Chewing on his bottom lip he managed to shakily pick the rose from the ground and inhale it's scent.

Lowering it to his chest he looked up at the sun once more. A smile tracing his lips. It was sad, but it was there. The tears had stopped and Sonic could feel his last bit of consciousness slip away. Rushing towards the cloudless sky, leaving his still body behind.
